Polished wood floors & a vintage feel set the vibe at this German beer hall for brew & sausage.

Cool place but they need better music
This place is all but good times. Had a work party there and had so much fun. Was able to enjoy not only the drinks but also watching the Dodger game. If you are in this area you need to stop by and have a good time. Will definitely come back for some more fun.
MoreBad experience. I asked for bottomless mimosas & fried chicken & was told they ran out of both. How can you run out that quick, only 2 hrs after opening on a Sunday? The tv’s were also too small to watch on.
MoreMore of a college bar than the German beer hall I was expecting. They did have Veltins on tap though! The sausage plate was tasty, but I really wanted a bratwurst!
MoreI really want to give this like 3.5 stars but Ill round up LoL Service was horrible on this one particular Sunday. It was around noon and not even busy (although there was a football game on). Initial service was great but as soon as the waitress took our drink order (WATER..... not even liquor yet!We had to flag someone down EVERYTIME we needed something - cocktails, refills, order food. Then the food took forever to come out and on top of that it wasnt even hot. Only reason I have it 3 stars was because I actually enjoyed my chilaquiles (one of my favorite foodseven tho they were a lil cold getting to the table. Im likely to give it another try sometime far in the future because the food is actually quite good. Just gotta work on their table service. But management didnt hesitate to accommodate so we were alright in the end.
MoreSuch a great vibe, the Dj awesome and the drinks were great. The patrons were friendly and the whole place is a vibe.
MoreThis is by far the worse place to go eat at the service was horrible, the food was all cold not even warm but cold. I would never recommend this place to anyone
MoreAbsolutely great time! I was there for brunch. Food was great drinks were even better. Amazing hospitality!
MoreThis spot was lit. Just drove 7 hours to Pasadena and they had a killer DJ, great beers and cocktails, and their food was so fire.
MoreMy friends and I had a great time! Fun atmosphere! The DJ was great too!
Great place to have a drink and nice food. Open area in the backyard too.
Im not much of a drinker but the atmosphere there is very chill. From what I heard... They mainly serve draft beers, no hard licors and some seltzers. My bf paid $28 for two draft beers and one seltzer. They had three live bands and that day.. they didnt have a cover charge.
MoreThey’re under new management. And were taken to a full 180. “Ghetto” and “trashy” are good words to describe them. Cocktails were under poured and bitter. I used to have this place favorited.
MoreGood food. Good drinks. Good music. Nice place
The drinks here are average for what youd expect at a bar. I do recommend the sour wolf. Why 2 stars? There was a sewage smell that enveloped the entire bar. It really ruined the experience and caused me to close my tab after 1 drink.TLDR- Drinks were average, off-putting sewage smell.
MoreCold beers & tasty lobster quessadilla .live dj nice place!
Went for brunch, not impressed...food was mediocre, badic, not impressed...could of cooked a better breakfast at home for 1/2 the price. This place is a pub like so drinking is suitable...
MoreStaff is rude and inattentive, but food is worse. No manager on site so staff acts like they could careless. Food smells awful stay away!!
MoreCouple of German beers and huge pretzals. But its not a German Pub. Hip hop DJ, strobe lights, and big screens all around. Staff was nice, but the owner seems confused what kind of bar he wants. Beer was cold, food was good, my only complaint was the place really should have a different name.
MoreI found this bar and wanted to see if we could watch the UFC fights last weekend. Not only did they show the fights, but they also serve food and great drinks!! It was such a great atmosphere!! The wall art is hilarious and the bar tenders are actually very good and fast!! I wanted to eat during the fights and order steak nachos (not expecting muchand they were SO good!! Like actual quality meat! The drinks were huge and so yummy!! We even made new friends at the bar. We will absolutely be coming back again!
MoreThis place is interesting but in a good way. The drinks were super good, we started with the Mexican candy shots which were super good if you like a sweet watermelon taste with tajin on the rims. The next drink we had were the catcus coolers that was super delicious. There was just one drink we disliked, the White Gummy. It just wasnt good as a drink, not that it was made bad, it just shouldnt be mixed together as a drink. The upstairs had music playing and they were people dancing but they also have a downstairs lounge which is more of a kickback vibe. Both upstairs and downstairs serve the same drinks, just a much more calmer atomshpere downstairs.
MoreNever ever did get service 2 times I’ve been there. Had to hunt someone down to be Told they can’t serve after 2200/10pm although was there 20 mins before that. A shame As a business owner to see such poor service, definitely not how we do business.
MorePlace need work. Staffing is a problem. After 1 and half hours of waiting had to cancel order. never received order, shrimp cocktail and beer. Other party members received food cold and with out silverware then later brought out plasticware. Also FYI there lunch menu does not start until 3pm, in which I sat down at 1pm.
MoreFound this place just searching the internet. Though the name implies German food, the menu was Mexican centric. Our server was friendly and welcoming and provided us with great suggestions about the food. We had a great experience here! The food was very tasty as ingredients were fresh and well prepared. We all enjoyed our cocktails and entrees. Thank you, Der Wolf, for a great experience!
MoreIt’s honestly a fun time here - very lively w/ three areas to the establishment that might cater to your mood: the general area where live bands play, an underground bar and dimly lit area where DJs play, and the backside outdoor patio area where my boyfriend and I watched a fire dancer randomly perform several months ago. The food is good and the drinks heavy! Very good venue for a group of friends on a weekend 🍻🥂
MoreIt was I great place to watch the game. They must of been under staff the service was very slow. The ceviche tostada was not worth the money, the pretzel was great. They where nice enough to give me a second drink for free because they brought the food very late and then the drink
MoreGreat place to go and enjoy a real German beer! One big problem though: the music!!! Rap! Really guys??? German restaurant with “ steal the Mercedes, f… the cops, etc” Might want to get some real music closer to the specific of your restaurant title!
MoreThe servers here were new to the establishment but were exceptionally well at taking requests and orders. A++
MoreAs someone who has lived in Germany for over fifteen years I was very happy to find a german restaurant but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. The card barely has anything german on it, mainly american stuff and there’s only one german beer on the card. The Sauerkraut did not taste like Sauerkraut at all: it was cold, not cut into small pieces, dry and it tasted like a pickle. The pretzel did not taste fresh at all and it was served with a sauce I have never seen before. It reminded me of a sauce we usually eat to steak. The sausages didn’t taste german at all.Whag I gotta say though is that the restaurant looks quite nice and I think it’s a great place to watch football and more!Thank you for the service!Kind regards,Justus
MoreFirst place we came after we check into our hotel! Food taste and look amazing! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable! Definitely a must see. Also doesnt hurt that its also the bar that Joes is based off of in Greys Anatomy and yes its been filmed here! 😉
MoreGreat place for good drinks and stiens. Food was tasty as well. (Steak tacos). Staff was on point. Awesome live band nights and karaoke.
MoreSo this place changed owners since the before times. I think as far as a place to go its decent. Nothing amazing but nothing inherently bad. Regulars might be disappointed but first timers should find it pretty well. I think the best way to put it is this place went from a "German Bar" to a "German flavored bar". Theres a hint of its roots but a lot of it got modernized for the mainstream corporate gastropub
MoreI really love how much this place changed. The food menu is so good you can actually taste that they make it there instead of heating it up. The cocktails are good I suggest a mas chingon! They have karaoke on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It’s super fun! Friendly staff very attentive!! :)
MoreWish I would have read more recent reviews.I was looking forward to this place for a while but never went until last week. First off, the out door set up didn’t look that bad and actually resembled a few pubs I went to in Germany, other than that NOTHING about this place reminded me of a German pub. It was only 4pm and they had top 40/rap music blasting, then repeatedly asked us if we had reservations, because there was a fight on tv in 3 hours, for some reason they couldn’t hear us even though we were standing right next to the server (I wonder why…). I was told this place had a great beer selection, but when I looked at the menu I only saw around 7 beers, 4 domestic, 2 seltzer, 1 house draft. I decided to go with the Der Wolf blonde in a Stein, I also ordered an entire, but was disappointed to see that there were no German related food options so I went with the roasted chicken. After nearly 40 mins, my meal came out to me before my beer did, I got a very unsatisfying meal that resembled airplane food, small potion, barely any sides, not worth $20. I then decided to remind the waiter of my beer, which he then brought me a pint, not a Stein then ran off before I could say anything, which was fine because I was ready to leave. Our check was ridiculously overpriced, 2 beers, 2 terrible entries and 1 ice water, around $80.Like I said from the beginning, I wish I would have read the more recent reviews, then I would have known that they got a new owner, who seemed to have thrown out every German aspect of the pub and just turned it into another generic, copy and pasted bar just like every other one in that area. I hope it gets better but something tells me that Der wolf is no more…
MoreLarge outdoor patio, but service was extremely slow. We tried to order a second round of drinks, but after almost half an hour no one came to check on our table so we gave up. We then had to ask 3 separate times for our check.
MoreSo, I had to completely revise my review from 5 stars to 1 star. Came here today and it took 40 minutes to order. 20 minutes after taking our order, the waitress came back and said it was brunch and we have to order something else. We got up and left. It also took them four tries to find my tab. Wasted a hour, and they dont even have any German beer variety, just what you find at a 7 Eleven. Regular below average gastropub. Thumbs down.
MoreI love this place!!Der Wolf is located in one of the the best areas in Pasadena. Parking is easily accessible, the area is very clean and safe with plenty of lighting. From the moment we walked in and were greeted, Crystal made my friends and I feel like family. The entire staff is so friendly and helpful. The huge outdoor patio is the perfect setting to enjoy a nice meal, a refreshing cocktail, and watch your favorite sports game. The Mexican candy shot was definitely one of our favorites in the cocktail menu.I’ve been here for lunch and dinner, and I can’t wait to try their Saturday Brunch with Bottomless Mimosas! The ambience makes for great gatherings with friends and family for all occasions. Crystal and her entire staff will definitely make you feel like a VIP.
MoreFirst time and had a great time! Food and drinks were fantastic. Our server Kat was super attentive and friendly. She made sure we had a great first experience. We had the nachos and the pretzel bites. Both dishes were delicious. I will definitely be coming back. Happy hour was awesome 4-8pm.
MoreI always loved this place pre-COVID, but right now when there are very few places open late, Der Wolf definitely came through for the win! Theyve taken over most of the pretty alleyway (with nice mood string lighting aboveand theres plenty of bar tables and picnic tables super spaced out outside. All staff wore masks, of course, and I felt safe overall. LOVE they are playing music, too! Great outdoor "bar-ish" atmosphere with good drinks and food, and pretty much the ONLY place in old town Pasadena open after midnight on weekdays right now!
MoreFantastic place and amazing staff. Jason was the bartender taking care of us my past visits for the last UFC fight and it was an amazing bar to host an event. All the boxes were checked, friendly staff, great food and good cocktails. I have to appreciate that they also had vegetarian options and loved the appetizer platter they had. Two thumbs up for DER WOLF for the next fight events!
MoreLet me start by saying I love German restaurants. I consider myself a connoseur, even though thats French. We came here all the way from West LA to try something other than Wirtshaus, Rasselbock, and Silverlakes Red Lion Tavern. After a $30 Lyft, we arrived and found out it was Friends trivia day. Normally I love trivia, but this was just weird. Very quiet and like... professional? I want a casual experience when I go to a German place. Anyway, we sat at the bar, which is the only place you can order here. The service was *extremely* friendly and helpful, but bless their heart if they knew how to provide prompt service. We waited about 15m for a pretzel. Then we ordered a sausage plate appetizer. That took about 30m, and was fairly cold when we got it. We were two of about 20 people in the restaurant at this time. Not great. We gave them one last chance to redeem themselves with a beer battered brat, and I must say, it came out a lot quicker than the other food , but it tasted like pan-fried kielbasa. The tots were great, but honestly it was not worth the trek from West LA. Sort of a blessing in disguise because we checked this off of our German list without any desire to come back. TL;DR if youre looking for a legit German spot, come to West LA. Seriously.
MoreVery loud in here! I wish they had more non alcoholic drink options like tea lemonade. Their food is alright. I got their Oak Smoked Beer Bratwurst, which I found very flavorful!
MoreThis place feels like a new twist on a bierkellar. Very cool layout, ambiance and location (Old Town Pasadena). The crowd there on the night I went was kind of snooty. Otherwise I had a great time. They have a great beer selection and the cocktail I ordered was on point. Great place for a party with the long tables and benches!!!
MoreLovely beer selection. Tater tots were fried to perfection. Will be visiting again.
MorePerfect laid back, chill bar. We opted to go to this bar because of their drink menu. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly security guard. Inside was awesome! Great service, atmosphere, and delicious drinks. There were people playing card games, some chatting, and some eating delicious food. Definitely a bar you must try out. Also, there is no rules on what you can and cannot wear, so feel free to dress comfortably :)
MoreGood beer selection with many being German. This bar is also a cozy beer hall with a decent happy hours on beers. Great for groups and friendly staff. Ive been more than a couple times and service had always been good. Prices are ok Literally of beer will cost around $14-18
MoreGreat food and cocktails, Wednesday night Karaoke was very well done too!
Hoppy New Year! As a regular patron put it: "This place is as close to Germany as it gets in California!" Lots of great beer, try the Käsespätzle. Close enough to all the action, yet a little world of its own. Auf Wiedersehen!
MoreGreat spot for an after work drink and some delicious grub. Been here a few times and Id highly recommend grabbing some sausage, pretzel, and a stein of some beer you cant pronounce the name of, my go to is the Weihenstephan Hefe Weissbier. You wont be disappointed.
MoreGreat beer and drinks. Food menu looked delicious, but we had already eaten. Fun atmosphere and decor along with a friendly staff made this bar a great pick. Multiple patrons were speaking German, which added to the ambiance.
