Indian street food & classic dishes are presented in a bright venue decorated with film posters.
Hands down the best India street Ive had in Melbourne. The chat platter was a great option to try their variety of chats. The carrot halwa was also delicious!
They have the amazing indian food out there. If you want to try something desi, this is your place to go.We had dosa + thali which was amazing but lassi was not as per our expectations but it was good tooThe environment is very cool with songs and they have amazing staff too.Food 9/10Environment 9.5/10Staff 10/10
Worst pani puri, the water was spoiled and tasted like alcohol for some weird reason. Don’t ever order pani puri from here. The biryani was good but after having a bad experience with the food I don’t know how fresh they serve the rest of the food. Wouldn’t recommend.
We really enjoyed the pani puri and chicken tikka - it was delicious, and the mango lassi was not too sweet which is great! However, the butter chicken was a little lacking for us, we would just go for the other curries instead.
As hospitality workers ourselves, the wait for the table was just not worth the food. Especially when the wait time ended up being an hour and a half despite my friend going through the efforts of placing a booking at 8:30 PM. We ended up getting the table at 10:00 PM. On a day like Diwali, try to make your reservations your priority please. Just work off of reservations instead of making them wait an hour and a half for food.On a more positive note, the food was fantastic, all the chaat items as well as the channa batura was amazing!
I have been here twice and I have always loved their food. My favourite authentic Indian comfort food at an affordable price. The Maharaja thali is definitely a steal as you get so much food as such a great price.
Not a massive fan of Indian but my girlfriend insisted we should try it out. I have a nut allergy so it’s always difficult to find a place that won’t potentially kill me and won’t have dishes too spicy that I won’t enjoy. However this place accommodated us with ease and gave us two great dishes for around £10 each! Service was also quick and cheerful.
Food is great... You are gonna have some good time for sure...but the only complaint I have is they have very limited dine in places...so book in advance...or wait outside in the freezing cold...😐
Customer experience should be the key focus for restaurants however not for Delhi Streets. There was a piece of glass in the Chicken Wrap - Frankie (returned and not re-ordered as it’s upsetting), masala tea having no masala which felt just like English Breakfast tea with water. We felt some of the things we ate were stale food being re-heated which caused an upset stomach an hour after eating. In addition, staff looked grummy, over worked & weren’t communicating on the delays with serving food. We as the customer had to reach out twice. Either add more staff or train your existing staff to be more polite and at the least communicate. No sense in accepting the piece of glass in the wrap when we paid for our dinner in full despite our bad experience.Overall poor experience.
Booked last minute on Saturday for two. They were able to fit us in and do the feed me menu. Food was super tasty, price was great and service friendly. No complaints.
A Wonderful busy place. My favourites are pani poori, gulab jamoon. I will come back when I visit Melbourne again. Its located in a great location. The staffs or probably the owners are very friendly. The service is surprisingly fast.
Being an Indian very hard to satisfy my taste buds but Delhi Street refreshed good old back home taste of Indian Street. Freshness & balance of spices is perfect & Real Value for money. Highly recommended.
Pav vaji was delicious but i expected more punch from pani puri.
Full marks on the service and ambience. Food tasted good, but not as Delhi-authentic as we expected.
Below average taste, high prices, long wait times and less quantity. Eat at south east Melbourne Indian restaurants for real taste with so reasonable prices and almost double quantity
Mango lassi was bomb. Curries were bomb. I was so full and dying at the end. We ordered some mix grilled things to start with and then curries. It did not disappoint. Only downside is there isnt much seating so we had to sit outside and boy oh boy is Melbourne kind of chilly in the evenings. Would recommend reserving before you come because seats are hard to come by.
Really great experience. Tasted terrific. We enjoyed the Chaat Platter, masala dosa, and Pav bhaji.Great tastes! Great service
Food was brilliant and really enjoyed the Bira IPA. Value is good too.Pani Puri was one of the best entrees Ive had in a long time. Delicious!
The Dal makhani here is absolutely fantastic! Being in Melbourne, they provide authentic Indian taste. If one is visiting Melbourne, they should definitely eat here. We got to know about them on the last day, but had we gotten to know a little sooner; our week in Melbourne would have been there itself.
Wasnt expecting much going into it as I havent heard about this place but was very pleasantly surprised. Food is simple but well done and very generous portions. Service was quick and friendly. A tiny bit cramped but it wasnt a big deal. Oh and its cheap! Definitely will be back.
Great vibe and busy, even on a Wednesday late night (in a good way)! The butter chicken thali was awesome and generous on the portions. Food was fast and fresh - you could even see it being prepared in the window. Looking forward to going again!
Great food! They do superb pani puri, butter chicken, and gulab jamun. We brought guests from India to this place and they loved it too. Papri chaat was also nice with perfect balance of flavours.Place is very tiny and is packed every night so it is recommended to book. For more: IG: MelbourneFoodTravel
Good interior. Felt like Im in India. Not that much quality in food. Lot of water in spice tea. Tried thali there. Not so special but not too bad as well.
High quality food but, curries are extremely simple, not rich nor spicy. Butter chicken was too tangy and mutton curry is only for your bland palate. Same goes for vegetarian thali.Highly recommended for people carving for chaats. Samosa chaat was mouth watering.
from what i’ve experienced, you will get attitude and tasteless food here.got Sp. veggie Thali to take away, quantity was decent but the Taste was nothing like you’d expect after paying decent amount. Thali was basic and pretty much flat tasted curries to combine with dry and crusty rice and especially the Kofta were just mashed potatoes deep fried with no flavours at all, big disappointment.as i’m an Indian i know what to expect when one order this and that.as of the waitress, Come here if you want attitude.
Lovely food and great Indian vibes!Ordered Channa Bhatura, Chaat platter, veg and non veg thali. All the dishes were yummy. The Chicken tikka quantity could have been better.. The taste was authentic though ♥️
Very busy and constantly packed, make sure to book in advance. This is an amazing restaurant with good quality food and an open view of the kitchen. We did a walk in and waited a bit, but honestly was worth the wait. The customer service is very good and accommodating. The mix Thaali we ordered was so good. I havent had a Thaali in years and this was the best Ive had so far. And very fresh, especially the naan made on site. I enjoyed every moment of this, I just wished I had booked this in the first place. However I noticed that booking this place must be done days in advance. The only downside to this place was that the rasmalai that was served was very cold which let us down. Over all was a great experience and cant wait to go back!
The best indian food I have ever had in my life. It was so good. All the spices hit the spot. <3
Im very disappointed about their service last night . Really slow service and prioritizing deliver order and keep the guest waiting outside without any heater. I am regular customer from last 2 years. I never face such a bad service. Food was good but because of unorganized service I did enjoy the food at all. I am not coming back again anymore.
We walked in at 5.31 on a Tuesday night and the place was already packed. The food took a while to arrive but was reasonably tasty. We had a Pani puri and 2 special thali with butter chicken, chick peas, mixed veg and beef vindaloo, mixed veg and dhal makhni with a masala chai to finish off.The Pani puri, butter chicken, chicken peas and dhal were beautiful. We werent so impressed with the rest. The masala chai was completely disappointing - it had no spice and tasted like a tea made from tea bag steeped in hot water with some milk.
Seated at 5.30, food came in at 6:40 and the waitress came in and asked to finish our food by 7 as they have a booking and not enough seats. WOW... anf waitresses kept on hesitating to add more to our initial order, said NO for take away order as they are too busy. Food was good, so 2 stars
Fantastic! Very authentic Indian cuisine. Really beautiful staff members. Will be back soon. 💕💕
This is a prime example of why one shouldn’t always look at reviews. It’s street food and it ain’t expensive but the taste, quality, experience, service and standards are outstanding. I walked out with a full tummy and a great night. Also they make samosas fresh. Thank you Delhi Streets.
Great Indian street food. Great little restaurant, can be crowded, but that is all part of the charm. All I can add is if you like Indian food then book a table, youll love it. I do mean book, as if you dont you will miss out or stand on the street for an hour waiting, its a very popular place.
Yummy food...pani Puri and Allu tikki chat is the best...I tried the vegetarian Thali and it was delicious...the Thali is quite reasonable and filling...the restaurant has a retro Bollywood decor which I loved..service can be a bit slow during peak times but overall a nice place and hygienic too.i am a regular visitor now 😄😄
The entrees were amazing!!! The mains were ok. We had the feed me menu, I was super full but my partner was still hungry after. The kulfi was amazing! Havent had kulfi that good anywhere else in Australia, gulab jamun was pretty yum too. Im only giving this 3 stars because they wouldnt let us take away our leftovers because the food was supposedly buffet style. But it came in tiffins that were on our table? So unless they were gonna reuse our left overs, I dont understand why we couldnt take away? Like its just gonna go in the bin and that seems kind of wasteful. Seems kind of ridiculous that a place would rather throw out food instead of letting people take away :/
Amazing flavours very richOne of the best Indian foods I’ve had

Amazing tasty food! We didn’t have a booking, they gave us a table outside and even though they were busy, service was very quick!I’m not really used to spicy, so I personally found the veggie curries too spicy, but still so yummy and tasty!
The ambiance was good. The service was great. The portion was super great! However, the taste could be better as I found it bland.
Been here last night and the food was terrible. We ordered Dosa, pav bhaji and chaat. Masala dosa was filled with uncooked potatoes ( attached pic for referenceand Sambhar tasted like Daal with simple onion tomatoes tadka with no tamarind taste. Pav bhaji was bland with no namak mirch. And all of the above we ended up paying 44 for these 3 things which were all disappointing
Been here a few times and the food never disappoints. Service is pretty inconsistent, the place is small and it’s always packed so make sure to make a booking in advance.
Trendy, busy hangout. Tip: book a table or you might not get in on weekends specially. Would definitely go back for pani puri
The ambiance is pretty good of this place. Chicken biryani, thali & Chana bhatura is highly recommended. Papri Chat could be much better. Although the staff is a little negligent & rude therefore 3.5 stars
I had the chana bhature, chat platter and rasmalai. All of them were lip-smackingly good. Would definitely recommend this place.
We have tried their Paneer and Chicken Frankie wrap in takeaway during the lockdown, and it was really great! However, our dining experience wasnt very good. We ordered their special Maharaja Thali and Dosa and I was expecting it to be as tasty as the Frankie wraps, but it was just mediocre. The Dosa itself was quite thick and sambar (lentilsand coconut chutney was ok.Maybe their street style food is better and more popular than the traditional food.I would highly recommend their wraps, but not the Dosa or Thali.Service was good though and the staff members were quite polite.
I love this Indian street food ! Funky and delicious! The Pani Puri, tandoori grilled and the thali are so delicious! Definitely will come back again soon for more pani puri
Such a brilliant place hidden away in the lanes of the Melbourne CBD.If you are visiting over the weekends, make a booking on their website. The place is packed and for a good reason. The style of sitting and the tables may not be suitable for everyone specially if you want to sit facing each other and chat while you eat. Most of the seating was where a person sits next to the other. The food served is amazing. Had that Indian taste with a milder spice level to it. The food reminded me very much of the street food that you get in Delhi and Punjab. We had the chat platter and the aloo tiki chaat and both are awesome. I will surely suggest the papdi chaat that blew our brains. For the mains, we had the maharaja thaali for which we chose the 3 curries: butter chicken, lamb korma and dal makhni. The butter chicken was a bit runny but the meat had an amazing cook to it. Was soft and delicate and I can say the same for the lamb. The curry was a bit watery for this as well but the meat was so well done. The thaali was served with a naan, rice, pickle and some greens. For the mix thaali we chose the mix veg and the butter chicken as the curries. The mix veg was really delicious. We enjoyed that a lot.The place also serves some beer brews from India and we had the Bira white which was pretty good.
The rating reflects the complete lack of social distancing, miserly serves of the important stuff and forgetting our order. This is a popular spot, with 3 sittings on a weeknight. Were packed in like sardines with complete disregard of the pandemic and only care for profits. My friends had the Veg Thali while I ordered the Masala Dosa. The dishes come out looking so big but it was massive serves of rice in the Thalis to feed 2-3 people with hardly any curry and a paper thin crepe with not much inside the Dosa. The desserts were equally small portion sizes.Felt sorry for the two staff running around like headless chooks to serve so many diners. It wasnt surprising they forgot our order and we had to ask.Every dish was flavoursome and a celebration for the tastebuds so I can appreciate the high ratings, but geez my friends and I havent had such a bad experience in a long time!
I went to the restaurant base from college recommendation on last Friday. The order I was getting is pani puri, masala chai and mix tahli with butter chicken and dal. The butter chicken is tender and full of flavor, the papadum is tasty. The pani puri sauce tasted lemony and full of spice. The masala chai smells mixture of cinnamon and other spice but tasted light and milky. The staff services was welcoming and friendly. The environment ambience was warm and lively. The 9$ pani puri is pricey, the mix tahli is a little expensive. Overall everything is pretty good.
