Tours and tastings, with a garden restaurant for German and South African dishes, plus great views.
Delheim Wine Estate in Noorder-Paarl
Description
Privilege
The Delheim Jazz and Fondue event is hands down the most fun we’ve ever had at a wine farm event! Enjoying delicious cheese, bread and wonderful wines while grooving to the tunes of local bands is the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I would not recommend bringing children as they’re not catered for on the menu so rather get a babysitter and make it a date day!
MoreBeautiful wine farm with amazing scenery. The wine and cupcake tasting was delicious. Will definately visit again.
MoreWonderful impromptu wine tasting before lunch at nearby Murati. August and Thabang were brilliant hosts and ended up grabbing a few of my favourite 2018 Grand Reserves and some Chenins. Will be back.
MoreThis was a divine experience.August was exceptional in his knowledge of the various gorgeous wines we tasted. We had a splendid day in the sun on the terrace overlooking Table Mountain and Lions Head tasting wines and enjoying the estate.
MoreCupcake and wine pairing is really amazing! Something different to what the other wine farms offer. Definitely highly recommend 🍷
MoreThis is my fave wine farm. The mountain backdrop, that cellar, great food. The air smells like nowhere on earth. Passionate people, you can tell, and that I love. Will never tire of visiting, always truly soul healing
MoreSuch a pleasant experience!!! Great wine!! Kenneth helped us with the wine tasting! He was informative and had a great sense of humour. Will definitely be back. Thankyou!!! Kenneth, you were wonderful!!!
MoreAn absolute delight as always. Well priced and fantastic friendly service in a magnificent garden setting. 5 🌟
MoreThe venue is extremely beautiful and staff accommodating. I was a little disappointed in the food. We had the lamb shank and the curry, and for the price it was a let down in terms of flavour, taste and portion size. A beautiful day out nonetheless.
MoreSuch a beautiful wine farm nestled in the mountains. Well worth a wine tasting and visit.
MoreDelicious wine. Incredible food at a very reasonable price. The wine tasting was excellent and perfectly priced. What left me most impressed was the hospitality and serenity of the staff. Recommend 6/5!!!
MoreOne of my very first wine tastings on a wine estate many years ago!Lovely old school garden setting.Beautiful views across to Table Mountain.I had remembered the cheese platter from all those years ago so tried again delicious!Wines as I remembered were all superb and served by a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff member.Would recommend you book and experience for yourself
MoreEnjoyed our visit at Delheim. The cupcake pairing was very nice, just a bit pricey compared to other similar pairings. However the wine was very nice and all and all was a nice experience. This wine estate would be lovely to visit on a sunny day as the views are spectacular.
MoreReally loved this place. Cute vibe with a dog and cat on premises. Wines were also good and tables were cute
MoreThe farm is beautiful and the cupcakes were lovely. They had a little bit of an issue with our booking - I suggest not using an online booking platform.I would have liked someone with a little more knowledge to host the wine tasting, I would have loved to learn more about their wines in particular.
MoreAwesome Amazing ambiance, beautiful place, friendly competent staff and next level food and service!!!
MoreWonderful wine farm set in a beautiful part of rural Stellenbosch...the wine farm and restaurant is in a tranquil and out of town location... The gardens are well maintained and the food is great... We had the Delheim platter for 2 which was good...but would advise a main meal unless you looking for a light meal...the bread was ok but was not fresh... There were 2 types of cold meat which were ok... 3 types of cheeses... Pictures attached... Overall a great experience... Staff was professional and attentive...wines are good...
MoreAnother great wine estate in the region. Red wines are excellent, whites are ok. Atmosphere is nice but venues are a bit bland.
MoreGreat wine, lovely luscious gardens and warm hospitality. Cupcake and wine pairing as well as cheese fondue (in the winteris a must!
MoreAn awesome farm with great wines. One of my favourite wines. Would definitely recommend it to any wine drinker. An old school tasting experience.
MoreDelheim is a magical wine estate. Its quite and you can hear birds sing. Has a lovely outdoor area for wine tasting.
MoreThank you August for the great service. We really enjoyed the cupcake wine pairing on the beautiful farm. It was delicious and we will definitely come again!
MoreWe were hoasted by a hoast that were working there more than 20 years and that is how long ago we were there ago. Thank you for a fantastic tadting and cup cake tasting the you managed to organise very late for the girls. Our reccommendation is that you arw the best of the best and thank you so much for making our visit special on 2020/10/10 at 15h20.
MoreReally awesome venue with an amazimg view!Staff is really friendly and their wine tasting is a really awesome experience. There is a very relaxed atomsphere with the sounds of birds churping in the trees.I really reccommend this venie for tastings
MoreStaff went out of their way to make us comfortable, feeding us in the cool underground cellar on a hot summers day. Great wine and delicious food at affordable prices, we paid only R450 for 5 main courses ( 2 kids). Great value!
MoreThis is what I imagined a wine farm to look like.Breathtaking views of Table Mountain in the distance from the restuarant - wide variety on the menu to choose from. For the best views call ahead and reserve tables 15 and/or 17.When arriving you are permitted to taste the grapes right from the vines which the wines are made from after being greeted by an exceptionally friendly Goodman Jada.
MoreDefinitely "Worth the Journey". The Wine was spectacular, the Merlot and the Vera Cruz Pinotage being some of the best wines I have tasted. The Cupcake pairing was also wonderful and the wines paired really well with each different cupcake. The Buchu Cupcake was my Favourite. One criticism however, the farm is beautiful and it would be so nice to sit outside and enjoy the surroundings when tasting.
MoreBeautiful farm that has maintained its historic charm. Friendly and insightful staff, the parking area attendant is so kind and made us feel so welcome.Wines are top class! This wine estate is well worth the journey and makes for a wonderful day out in the Stellenbosch valley.
MoreAmazing setting for restaurant, toward table mountain. Lovely picnic glade in nice small scale. Very different terrain than anywhere else in area with no. Ca or Wyoming look. Great wines especially Chenin Blanc sur lees.
MoreWe had a great lunch here and it was very pleasant and relaxed. Beautiful scenery and views with good wine and food. All round great experience.I highly recommend it
MoreThe property of Delheim/Muratie (used to be one farmare situated in a breathtaking location. I highly recommend the cellar tour with Fynbos Cupcape & Wine pairing. Our experience was conducted by August who was very knowledgeable, all my groups questions were answered.
MoreWe went to Delheim for a picnic and to taste some wine and had a really amazing afternoon! It was a little hard to find and if we hadnt known about it beforehand, we probably would not have ended up there. But it was totally worth the trip! The estate was amazing, a beautiful secluded place. All of the staff we met was outstandingly friendly! We were able to taste some wine before choosing our bottle, and then were taken through what seemed like hidden passageways and doors to their picnic area. As it is not high season, we were all alone, but as the waiter told us, it can get really busy, so I would recommend booking in advance.
MoreVery quaint farm. Enjoy hearing the love triangle of the wine and where their names came from. The tour is well worth it.
MoreVisited for the day to do the cupcake and wine pairing as well as the sunday jazz and fundue. Pleasantly surprised and would visit again when we are in South Africa... Maybe even stay for a night or two. Favourite wine too!
MoreBeautiful winery! Delicious wines! Absolutely amazing pork belly for lunch! Check out the collectors wine cellar to see all the old wine bottles! Beautiful gardens too!
MoreWow!! Fantastic restaurant and lovely food. The cupcake and wine pairing was great too!! Some great wines!
MoreI love the wine test here! Waiter is really friendly and passionate in sharing wine knowledge, I selected 6 wines test and end up test 8?9? Bought 12 wines for invest🥰 The restaurant also serve good food too!
MoreThe Wine and Cupcake Tasting is truly awesome! 2 white wines and 2 red wines, paired with 4 delicious cupcakes with flavors from the region. The estate itself is beautiful! You won’t be disappointed.
MoreThe cupcake and wine pairing is definitely worth a trip. The surroundings are beautiful with a rustic feel. However the staff was inattentive and we had to keep asking for service. The wines although tasty were not explained in a satisfying way.
MoreMy favourite place in the Cape!! So much character, ambience and tranquility!! Magnificent views!! Superb wines!! Best picnic ever!!
MoreVery nice place, we enjoyed the food and the wine. Recommended.
One of the best wine farms I have visited. The opulence of the gardens and the experience of cupcake wine pairing is something you can only find at Delheim. The resturant served one of the finest meat salads I have tasted. A welcoming smile and homely feeling is worth the travel to this piece of heaven on earth.
MoreLovely wine estate with good wines. The complementary gluh wine was really the best I ever had and chased the chill away. The restaurant was welcoming and I loved my crispy pork belly.
MoreStopped by for a coffee and a dessert and bought some wine and gluhwein sachets on the way out. The dessert itself was great, but the service did not leave a good taste in the mouth.. I especially loved the pinotage sorbet. That was delicious!!!
MoreOne of my favourite Wine Estates! The estate is breathtaking and has great wine tasting options- even cupcake pairings! The restaurant serves delicious breakfasts and lunches. There is also a picnic area set under massive old trees with a stream running through the area. It is heavenly.
MoreAbsolutely loved this wine estate. The food is amazing with a unusual menu. Staff of the wine tasting could have been more enthusiastic and shown more interest. The restaurant is situated in a beautiful lush garden setting over looking the valley. The resident dogs are to cute as they greet each visitor hoping for a little scrap from the table. The wine tasting room is beautiful with aromas of wines filling the air. The wine cellar is awesome. U can off set your wine tasting bill against your purchase of wine of R100.00 or more. They have the most incredible pumpkin and fig preserve. Which is delicious with cheese and biscuits.
MoreLove this place! Did wine tasting under the watchful eye of the Spider window with an exceptional host. Loved it so much went back for lunch later in the week. Superb and highly recommend
MoreHave seen around 10 vineyards in the region, delheim was by far the best. Staff, food and the atmosphere was fantastic. Make sure to sit outside, you might have to order some food to do so.It was my third time to visit this place and I was never disappointed.Best wishes from Germany, see you next year :)
MoreIt takes a long time to get here and there are plenty of wine farms on the way. After a lengthy drive, we found it was a charming place with variety. There are plenty of good wines and is a lovely to go to with a group of people. Its not too crowded and its very serene! There are cupcakes for kids and even a cute dog walking around. Make your way and you will be charmed!
MoreWe actually made a booking for Friday afternoon (for #RestaurantWeekSAbut due to getting food poisining the previous night from a well known restaurant we had to cancel last minute. We really wanted to go so randomly decided to go yesterday afternoon without a booking. They were completely fully booked, but the very nice manager, Junior, assured us he would make a plan and asked if we mind to wait. On clear days guests have a beautiful view across to Table Mountain in the distance. The restaurant offers a selection of dishes ranging from cheese platters to traditional German and South African food and it is really a relaxing but upper market ambience.Waiting was no problemat all as they also have a really lovely wine tasting area as well were we tasted some splendid wines-would highly recommend their Cahrdonnay Sur Lie-pricy but really worth every cent (R160 per bottle). We did a tasting of 5 wines were you pick your own wines. You also have the option of adding a platter, some snacks, tapas or do a cupcake and wine pairing. The service was perfect and just after the wine tasting Junior and his lovely team (can also really give a shout out to the 2 friendly professional waiters who served is with a smile-even though they were under a lot of preasure being so chaotically bus-Assanda and Hillarygot us a table inside. After receiving our wine (we ordered the Chardonnay Sur Lieand a jug of cold water, they said they just got an opening outside for us on the beautiful terrace. It is absolutely amazing sitting outside and smelling all the wonderful dishes passing by, all looking beautifully plated as well. For the Restaurant Week South Africa special our starters were Cauliflower soup, quenelle of slow braised oxtail, sautéed fennel, parsley oil (ther eis also a vegetarian option of shimeji mushrooms instead of the oxtail). The soup was perfectly seasoned with parmesan and very smooth and creamy, the oxtail was perfectly cooked-long and slow and the sauteed fennel and parsley oil just completed the dish-it was truly one of the best soups I have ever had. It also paired perfectly with the Chardonnay. This soup is usually priced at R65.When we finished our starters Asanda came back to inform us that unfortunately they are out of pork belly which was supposed to be included for the Restaurant Week special (Crisp pork belly strips, sweet potato fondant, aubergine and thyme puree, butternut, garden Swiss chard, tomato and pork beurre blanc.), but instead we can have any other main course or starter from the menu. It was difficult to choose as there were so many options and all of it looked delicious, but something stroke our eyes very quickly and my friend and I both had the Slow braised lamb shank in a Moroccaan rub, sauteed baby potatoes, seasonal vegetables, olives, harissa & yoghurt dressing, deep fried mint and a lamb jus. Ususally priced at R185, which is really not bad considering the quality and quantity. It was a feast! The lamb tasted delicious, perfectly seasoned, a touch of a spicy bite, and falling of the bone. Everything else that accompanied it complimented the dish completely except for the harissa yoghurt-which is the only criticism I can give as it was totally unnecassary-the lamb was soft, juicy, flavourful and tender enough to be served on its own. = It is very tasty-dont get me wrong, but overpowers the tasty flavours of the rest of the dish. After a lovely meal-feeling very satisfied we had some perfectly made cappucinos. For 2 restaurant week specials, 2 bottles of wine and 2 cappucinos the bill came to R750 without tip.Would definitely recommend it and be visiting again soon!
