Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka, Galkissa
Dehiwala Beach - Tourist attraction in Galkissa, Sri Lanka
Excellent
Its ok surround area people not allowed to spend time harmful
Awesome place to go enjoy and relax with kids and family. Fabulous golden sandy beach blue ocean. Spectacular coastal areas so close to busy Colombo city. Good range of restaurants around were one could enjoy range of dishes specially sea food. But watch out for prices and spiciness. Could watch a spectacular sunsets. Be very careful if you plan on swimming or serfing, as the depth increase suddenly, sea can be rough during certain months especially during south western monsoon season. But great many people including foriengs come to enjoy the spectacular beauty of this place. Could see Colombo portcity from here and could watch shipping. Please dont litter this wonderful place.
Nice and clean beach
If you go vehicles pleas very attention and safe parking!always lock doors /lock handle of bikes, dont park road side.Always dont carry plastic, non-biodegradable items to the beach...
Beautiful view. More cleaner than other beaches. 🌊❤️
Awesome place
"The area is a mostly residential suburb, known as Colombos beach retreat it is famed for its "Golden Mile" of beaches[1][2] and has long been a hot spot for tourism and nightlife. It is one of the most liberal regions in Sri Lanka and plays host to the islands annual Gay Pride and Rainbow Kite Festival since 2005.[3][4]"(Wikipedia)
👍
Very nice beach
This beach is so pretty
Enjoy a scenic sunrise/sunset, a leisurely walk, or cool down after a jog on the marine drive..(The sand mound at the bridge end has the best view 😉)Its not too crowded most of the time, and theyre beach restaurants that open in the evening. Theres even a CrossFit gym and beach volleyball court along the way...You can have a dip, but stick to the beach and dont go far, its deep and the waves are strong. (Watch it for the lifeguard flags)...The walkable beach is at least 2km, from the bridge along the marine drive, past the Dehiwela Station and towards Mt Lavinia.Edit:The recent rains have washed up quite a bit of debree and plastic bottles..Also, the beach seems to be eroding quite fast, it was at least 4-5 meters away 2 months ago. Not sure if its normal for the rains
After filling it from sand its so far & so damn hot to walk towards the sea
The beach is very much polluted and in addition to plastic bottles and shopping bags there are masks too. Such a tragedy that the beautiful beach is all polluted. The sea can get really rough at some places with deep slopes in the beach so if going with kids need to be extra cautious about their safety. On the roadside there are small street food shops where they sell food items like shawarma, pani poori, kulfi ice cream etc.And when crossing towards the sea side from the road side, need to be careful about the frequent trains that pass the railway in the middle.
Beautiful place in sri lanaka....most people like this place
Good environment but very crowded place not safe
Nice beach. But parking is a bit of a problem!
Peaceful location. 🏝
Very beautiful place. But if you come to swimming, this place is not for you🥲🥲🥲
Clean beach, good beach see suns go down, in the weekend its somewhat crowded
Good place for spend your weekend with beautiful Nature environment. But the beach is bit unclean than Mount beach area.
Crowded on weekends. But on weekdays evenings you can have a peaceful walk and a bath. Sunsets are remarkable.
Very nice place. After the lockdown people are going and enjoying slowly. It will back normal . This sea suitable for diving.
Its marvelous beach I think everyone should go it
Good place to relax and enjoy with friends and family.
Safe and wonderful place to have a bath
Dehiwala beach is not as crowded as the beaches in Mount Lavinia for Wellawatta. However it is sad to see that people have littered the beach all over. :-( The sea is a bit rough here, therefore if kids are brought, parents must be vigilant. There is a string of restaurants along the beach. You have to cross the railway line to get in to the beach which has to be done very carefully because it is a busy railway line.
One of the best beaches just outside of Colombo city. Easy access from Marine Drive. Wide sandy beach in most of the places, and beach restaurants all the way to Mount Lavinia. Typically crowded, specially over the weekends, and most of the days you can find sea wastes. It looks restaurants does not care about it
Best place for kids to play !😎!
nice place to hangout and.. noce view point
Ideal for morning swims practically during any month of the year
Perfect place to relax your mind. The sea and the wet sand is ultimate combo to take your mind off the panic and chaos of your day to day lives.
Dehiwala Beach is comparably clean but of course still has a lot of garbage.A lot of fishermen live here and have their boats at the beach. Not too crowded with tourists. Some fishermen keep annoying you and want to sell even more plastic.
Great view, very relaxing and enjoed it a lot. Gotta go there again😌
Beautiful place for spending time.
If you ever wanted a calm lovely place just went dehiwala beach about 6pm
Nice place to spend wonderful and relax evening with friends and family. Need to be maintained little bit more. I usually sit there and watch how sea swallow the sun 😁😁. You can see kids running around and playing. I highly recommend.
Great place to have peace and relaxation ✌️
Superb place for a walking
A good place to stay clam and have a beer
Great place to hangout with your friends and family
Nice atmosphere for game of football and to jog. Can jog for 20 minutes from the starting of beach from Dehiwala to Mount Lavinia, such a long beach.Fishing is bit interesting thing to tryout here.
better place for a evening relaxation walk
This is a sunset view of the west coast of Sri Lanka Dehiwala beach. Some years ago the beach was a great place to spend your time but now the beach is polluted with garbages. The enjoyment is no longer felt when you are middle of washedoff platics and glass bottles. We have done enough damage to mother earth... This place is a good example.
The Dehiwela beach is clustered with fisherfolk hamlets. Its more a fish folk area than a tourist area.
Nothing much but okay
The place i ve visit a several time...be aware of the people who trying to sell small items and food.. sometimes they become very disturbing....
Nice, good beach space for play and enjoy
Clean Beach. Nice sun set view and calm environment. Take a break and sit Dehiwala Beach you feel the difference.
Mornings around 7 to 8 am can buy fresh fish from boats
