Deepwater Micro Eatery - Pacific Northwest restaurant (Canada) in Anmore, Canada
Deepwater Micro Eatery in Anmore
Description
Privilege
I just ate what was the most expensive and weirdest “burrito” Ive ever seen from this restaurant. The fries (which I expected came on the side for a burrito priced at $24seemed like they were the left over bits from the bowl that’s been sitting on the pass all service. The inside of the burrito was an amorphous brown mush with bits of soggy lettuce and avocado. It tasted like a 4-day old chicken donair that had been mashed with a potato masher, baked into a casserole over several hours, and drizzled with spicy mayonnaise and extra salt. I’m not exaggerating. That’s what it tasted like to us.We also ordered salmon tacos - not sure what the concept for these are, but the soggy slaw was dressed with a stale-tasting garlic mayo (think: mildewy cloth), topped with overcooked cajun salmon and a flavourless yet shockingly salty sauce. Was it a taco or was it last nights salad reheated in the microwave and reseasoned with more salt?Chips on the side tasted like donuts with lime and flakey salt. Same fryer oil as something with cinnamon, maybe? Were they supposed to come with salsa?I don’t get it - what are these things supposed to taste like? Where is the acid, crunch, and composition? I’m sorry to be so explicit but damn. That was bad.The star is for the person who answered the phone and gave me a patient run-down of the drinks they had available. Thanks for your service, pal.Just checked on yelp and this place opened apparently 7 years ago has an average of 2.4 stars. Shocked its so high on google, why is that? And Im sure Ill get a nice response from the owner - which seems commonplace.I dont recommend eating what they call burritos or tacos. Maybe the fried fish is good. Apparently the seafood is all oceanwise.
MoreTried the fish and chips- really delicious!
Rude owner. Didn’t want to set up his patio outside for customers. Came with a baby stroller to eat fish n chips and was told to sit on bar table or go home.Just a tip for ppl coming to deep cove for the first time honey serves complete lunch menu which is to die for ;)
MoreThe Salmon Fish & Chips melts in your mouth! Its finger-licking good. Must try!!!
MoreThe server was so nice and offered my dog ice water and really high quality (all beeftreats. The drinks were delicious and the food did not disappoint! Highly recommended
MoreGreat ambience. Great food. Great drink selection. Great hot sauce selection. Just dont go there so I can get in. 😁
MoreWow… seriously just wow ! Best tacos I have had . Big portion and just so good I didn’t want it to end . 100% delicious!!
MoreThe beers are ok but for the price the access to the restroom should be included. They must be gold platted as the owner is defending them like a mother lion with her cub. Next time I will ask to buy shares. Maybe with a co-ownership we could have the great honour to be granted the access to the golden throne.Edit following the owner answer:- a joke on my last name? What is it ? Kindergarten? Come on miss I’m sure you can do better!- you did not say anything about « easily » or « heat » or nothing. You just say « meh not today » (exact quote)- I’ve honestly never heard such a strange answer: « you can’t go to the washroom because of heat ». Wait when it’s warm the urine is suppose to evaporate by itself from my bladder?- for the public restroom we are still looking for it- by the way I would advise you give a look to B.C. Reg. 216/2006- and lastly the beer were good and the prices were ok for the place. Just astonishing not to be able to communicate nicely and clearly with your customers. To conclude the next door bar were kind enough to let us use their washroom despite the heat and they lived happily ever afterP.S. you’re welcome always there for a good quipsP.S.2 Have you seen the public washroom?
MoreHad friends drive in from maple ridge to come eat and you guys are closed with no signs? Next time update google, what a let down. However learned that honeys next door has great tacos and they are open, so doing that from now on!
MoreFOOD 5+ starsSERVICE 5+ starsAbility to get food 1 star.On multipleOccasions we have shown up to get tacos and they are mysteriously closed with no updates to website, Instagram or google. For example right now, we are standing outside to get dinner and they are closed with no signage. Probably the 4 or 5th time this has happened to us in the last year. Bummer, cause everything else is great, but this makes us not want to return.
MoreFrom Winnipeg and heard about this place and the fish tacos were excellent and the fish (cod)and chips even the fries were absolutely great!! Much much better than what I have had before👍😊
MoreFood gets 5 stars. Availability to get food gets 1 star. Unfortunately, on multiple occasions I have tried ordering from Deepwater and they simply dont answer their phone. I check the days and times their website says they are open, but they just dont seem to be.
MoreBest burgers Ive had in my life for a reasonable price. They also have great outdoor seating where you can get a good view of the water thats down the street :D
MoreWent here for lunch. Small place. Awesome location. I had the blackened cod burger and it was phenomenal. The fries were excellent too. The quality of the fish and spices are top notch. Highly recommend.
MoreThe perfect pit stop after a hike or a walk. I usually park my dog on the patio with me or right beside - I get a pint, she gets all the tourists petting her. Win-win! Great atmosphere, its been a regular stop for me!
MoreReally authentic good, Tacos, the atmosphere, and the good customer service make this place absolutely a must to go in deep cove!
MoreAbsolutely delicious food and the owners are really friendly. 😁👍
I ordered the fried salmon with truffle fries. The salmon was delicious! The fries were good too but there was just a bit too much parmesan for my taste, but thats just my opinion. Decently priced at about $20 for my meal. I will be coming again.
MoreMy friend and I went here for lunch - theres only outdoor seating right now due to covid #s. But the seating area is right out front on the sidewalk and it was nice and clean and we could watch the goings on on the main street of beautiful Deep Cove, BC. We had one order of deep fried halibut and zebra fries (half regular, half yamand deep fried salmon and yam fries. It was tasty, but, just a tad too greasy. We expect fried fish & chips to be greasy, but this was a little excessive. The taste was great though. The price was reasonable for todays marketplace. Id visit here again.
MoreHad the Maui burger and truffle fries here today. Pretty tasty, although too much sauce made the burger messier than it needed to be. Truffle fries were excellent. As others have mentioned, its pricey (two burgers and fries came to $48)... but the food is good.Overall, Ill be back to try more menu items.
MoreWe went there for lunch on a Friday afternoon. I ordered cod fish and chips, while my friend ordered the salmon tacos. The fish and chips cod filets were done well, crispy on the outside while still moist on the inside. The fries were also nicely seasoned. The meal came with tar tar sauce, and a little coleslaw. Overall, Id recommend this dish. The tacos had dual soft taco shells, and tasted alright - not the typical "Mexican" taste, but more of a self created "North American" flavour I guess? The lemonade we ordered are basically bottled Minute Maid from concentrate. If you want nicer lemonade, there is a proper place a few doors down. There were a decent amount of outside tables setup for the block, so we enjoyed the meal there. The meal cost about $25 per person, after tip and tax. A little on the pricy side, but I guess to be expected given the post Covid climate.
MoreBest best best in Vancouver. Great people. Great vibe. Great food. The friendliest owners. Great for lunch or dinner after a day sight seeing in Deep Cove. A definite must.
MoreBest spot in Deep Cove! I come here regularly and the food is always amazing, the California Chicken Burrito is a must-have. Always a good selection of craft beer and the staff are suer friendly. Highly recommend!
MoreOrdered tacos at 2:15PM today and after 40 minutes came to ask about the order and whether I could get a complimentary beverage for the wait - when the server asked the chef I heard him yell “absolutely not”. A few minutes later we got our order and the tacos and fries were good- just not worth the 50 minute wait and the response from the chef was upsetting but the server apologized for the wait and being unable to provide a beverage which was nice.
MoreOrdered takeout a few weeks ago for the first time and the food was delicious. We had the Maui burger and fish and chips, will definitely order again. Plus they offer gluten free options! Can’t wait to try the tacos next.
MoreSo many good reviews but that was not our experience March 16th. Looked like a cool place and we like supporting local so gave it a try. It was a disappointment. The food was mediocre at best and overpriced for what you got. Hamburger looked and tasted like it came from Costco. $15 for a small bowl of seafood chowder and a 4" piece of garlic bread was ridiculous. Hopefully they will improve.
MoreSpur of the moment trip to Deep Cove today and we intended on going to a pizza restaurant which was closed but the owner and another patron were friendly enough and sold the tacos being incredible so my friend and I ordered and ate out on the deck under the heater. My cod and chips was pretty good and good portions. Jealous of the tacos my friend got so will have to come again to try it. Nice friendly family business.
MoreNice little place in Deep Cove! The fish burgers were absolutely dynamite! Small and quaint with good food. What more could you want?!
MoreEvery time we eat here it gets better and better. The food is amazing, you can really taste the love in each dish. Fish and chips are the best in town. The Carnitas tacos (any tacosis delicious. Real Mexico style margaritas 👌🏼The burgers are so tasty, seriously, I can go on and on. Salad, chicken burger, wings!! Seafood chowder- we look forward to chowder season, and its here !!! 10/10
MoreWhen waiting in line for the donut place next door my friend barley lent against the fence of this place, an honest mistake, reason being that there were multiple small signs along the fence saying "do not lean", but none of us had noticed the signs and my friend himself had clearly had his back to them. Its such a nothing, unintended situation. This place was empty except for one guy, the owner Im assuming, who pretty immediately, and rudely, barked at my friend to "get off his fence". My friend immediately apologized, obviously, because thats just how he is and he (even more obviouslywasnt maliciously leaning against this guys cheap fence (like anyone could!). It was just really off putting, seeing as he could have just asked politely and he made a situation uncomfortable unnecessarily. It was, in my opinion, a really poor representation of the business and general vibe of the place that Id never want to put money into on another occasion. Maybe hes salty the place next door is so successful given the current climate? Regardless, he should really change his attitude.
MoreGreat little place that we always go to when we visit. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is always good. One of the better pulled pork sandwiches I have had. Good selection of local craft beer as well. Does have some outside seating which is great for the summer. I also recommend the California Chicken Burrito l.
MorePerfect little lunch spot in Deep Cove! A nice beer selection, yummy food, and great aesthetic. The owner is really nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Well definitely be back!
MoreBest fries I have had in a long while. Wow were the Tiger Fries amazing! Their rosemary aioli is absolutely delicious with the crispy fries. I have never had tiger fries before (its a combo of yam fries and potato frieswith the rosemary aioli was the best combo I have ever had.
MoreLoved the delicious shrimp tacos with zesty coleslaw, satisfying Blackened cod burger with fries. All paired well with BC beer on tap and friendly service!
MoreAmazing food with a lovely view on the water. Sit outside and people watch with a view on the bay. Lovely evening.
MoreDelicious blacken cod burger! Couldve eaten two! Also great selection of local beers. Thank you!
MoreIts a small bar+eatery besides Honeys Donuts I sat by the bar and ordered their Cod Fish and Chips. Definitely recommend to try. I think I will try their chicken burrito next time. They have about 7-8 beers on tap and they offer a 3 samplers to order.#OnGoogleMaps @googlemaps #LetsGuide @googlelocalguides#604 #VanCity #VancouverIsAwesome #DeepCoveOn Insta: @604gmendoza
MoreLoved it. Staff was very accommodating to food tweaks for dietary requirements, and very friendly and chill atmosphere. Truffle fries are amazing with the aioli, and we all loved our meals: prawn tacos, cod fish tacos and the chicken burrito (which they kindly subbed the veggie patty instead of chicken). Delicious and would go back next time were there!
MoreBest restaurant in Deep Cove. Must try the Fish & Chips or Tacos (in my opinion), both are exceptional and the staff here are super friendly. Go for a nice scenic walk after to burn off the delicious food you just consumed.
MoreDeep Cove best kept secret !This little place is not flashy but as soon as you get in, the atmosphere and the warm welcome of the crew tell you that you made a good choice. The salmon fish & chips of chef Seth is just the best ever. Thank you ! Can’t wait to be back ! 🐟😋
MoreThis is by far the best restaurant in deep cove and the tastiest fish&chips Ive ever had.The food in general is amazing and the service is perfect.I highly recommend this place, it doesnt look like much on the outside, but its really worth coming in. Will come back for sure!
MoreBurgers and fish tacos were fantastic. Service was a little slow, but I can’t blame our server, he was all alone and the place was full. This would be a 5 star if we weren’t SO COLD while eating! It’s November, please close the patio door. Especially in the evenings..
MoreGreat meal and service! Arrived with hungry family and they accommodated special request and everyone ate every last morsel they could manage! My 11-year-old raved about the amazing burger the whole time and both kids asked to go back tomorrow :)
MoreA couple of years ago I posted a terrible review about this place for no reason. Today I just want to say that this is a very nice and hipster place to spend the afternoon with very tasty and slightly overpriced food. If you ever visit the cove give it a try! Its about time we support the local economy over the massive chain stores. Always spread positivity. As someone once told me, if you dont have anything good to say, just dont say anything.
MoreAwesome spot to grab great beers on tap from really friendly service. A good selection of local craft brews just a minute from the water. A lot of negative reviews about the food, but we stopped by for drinks before and after kayaking and as a bar we loved it!
MoreWere new to deep cove and have been here a few times. I was pumped to see this place open as theyre a hip joint with several beers on tap and a simple but good menu. Quality is great. Prices may be a tad high but nothing insulting. Service hasnt been perfect every time but hospitality has been great. Theyre a new place and should get better at execution as time goes by. I was surprised to see a 2 star rating so felt compelled to leave a review as I dont usually.
MoreWe just tried this place after hiking in Deep Cove. We were hoping for something like Taco Fino but were completely disappointed. The food is terrible, the portions insulting, and the prices ridiculous given the poor quality of the food. Ive never written a food review before this experience, but I feel I must warn anyone and everyone I can to not waste your money here.Whoever opened this place wanted to recreate the atmosphere of Taco Fino, but they failed miserably when it comes to the food. Vancouver is becoming a hub of great taco shops, and this place is trying to capitalize on the trend. Unfortunately its all show and no substance. They might survive on gullible tourists for the summer, but the place will fail as soon as fall comes. Good riddance. This place is not just lame, its an insult to the Vancouver food community.
MoreDecided to give it a shot as were residents of Deep Cove. The girl behind the desk was insanely rude and snappy. We had to get our own utensils after the food was served and she basically just threw it on the table and walked away. The food itself was disgusting; bland, mushy and extremely overpriced, and the portions of fish were criminal. We found out later that it was owned by the same aggressive, non-caring people as The Village Table, another horrible dining experience...If I could give it zero stars, I would.
MoreIm really hoping that I can change my review to a better one once this cute eatablishment works out a few tweaks, since they did just open their doors. We ordered tacos, as the word "tacos" on the wall would suggest that may be a specialty, but we were astonished when we opened the box and saw how tiny they were and more importantly how poorly they tasted. There was absolutely nothing special about them, certainly not like Tacofino which also serves small tacos, but they are delicious! I really hope this local establishment takes theses recent reviews into consideration because as a local I would really like to see this place do well, but please, please look at offering better tasting and more reasonably priced tacos as I would really like to give it a second chance.
MoreThis place gives a bad image to Deep Cove with is kind of passive aggressive owner that acts like a 5 year old excusing himself by answering the negative and only reviews he gets. Owner: you have to admit that nobody likes your place, you havent got a 2 stars review yet, Id suggest you to stop believing you are one of the shops youre surrounded by, because youre not, your tacos are not worth 6 dollars, who do you think youre? Starbucks? Youre not in the level of a 5 star restaurant to serve overpriced food. If you want to get people in your place you have to get rid of the "fresh cut food" and start making business, otherwise let a better restaurant use the local youre using. In one of your passive aggressive responses you mentioned Deep Cove as a supportive community but Im sorry to say that anyones been supportive to you, at least in google. Please dont flatter yourself responding to this review, start acting like an adult, in life there is always someone that disagrees with good stuff, unluckily, Deep Water is not.
