Dedalus Wine Shop, Market & Wine Bar in Burlington

We did not enjoy the products from this shop. The cheese had weird hard bits throughout and the cinnamon rolls were also hard.I was given a sample of cheese on arrival and it was good. When I ordered some, they went to the basement and got it there. When we checked out, I was charged for a full pound ($32rather than a 1/4 #, even though the price was on the label . (1/4 # being their minimum). It took the clerk a long time to correct the problem . I cant recommend the food or the service.

This is a great spot. They were wonderful hosts for providing space for our BIPOC and LGBTQA+ ERGs to celebrate 🍾 our one year anniversary of being in existence for the UVMMC! I love that Burlington has these spaces and Friday night food trucks etc during warm weather. ❤ kchi wliwni, thank you

We adored the wine garden!They made you taste the wines before you order your wine glass. The prices are very accessible, the portions large and the wine amazing!We also had the pleasure of eating their snack offering. We were delighted!The staff is super friendly. We had a great time, thank you!

Great place for wine and dine. Theres a wide range of wines. It can get buggy sitting outside but the vibes are fantastic.

We passed by this place on our way to another location, Turned around to check it out and wound up making reservations for the next night. We were not disappointed. Our server Ashley was one of the top 5 we have ever had and if you follow our reviews, you know that is saying something. Great atmosphere from the building to the furnishings, and the place settings. Great menu and exceptional service. To have a young server who gave us a detailed explanation of every item we asked about was impressive. We shared two appetizers and a meal paired with a wine recommended by Ashley. To say we left satisfied is an understatement. Ranks in the top 5 of our best culinary and wine experiences. We will be back and highly recommend you add this of places to stop while in Burlington.

This has to be one of the most amazing stores we’ve ever been to! Fantastic wine selection and equally if not better choices of meats and wine. They even have iberico options. Wish we lived here to come more often!

Delicious food. Unique and no misses. But the pacing of dinner was slow, big gap between apps and entrees; service a bit off.

We have had countless wonderful nights here. The wine is superb and the food delicious. Tonight we had Sam as a server whose was professional, fun, and knowledgeable regarding the wines. He turned our typically lovely night here into a fantastic one. We will be back!

I had the pleasure of enjoying a birthday dinner with my wife and son at Dedalus earlier this week. My son lives in Burlington and had made dinner reservations there. A fantastic dining experience! Adam, the manager, was exceptional in both his knowledge of the menu and his suggestions for the wine pairings to accompany the tapas style menu offerings. He was spot on with both! He took the time to answer any questions we had and guided us through the evening flawlessly, with attentive but not intrusive exceptional service. The birthday “surprise “ at the end of the meal was totally unexpected and greatly appreciated! It’s the attention to detail and the quality of service that separate a good meal from a great dining experience. Thanks to Adam and his exceptional staff, that’s what you will find at Dedalus. Looking forward to another fantastic meal on my next trip to Burlington! Very highly recommend.

My husband and I always bring our visiting friends and family to Dedalus and it never disappoints. We now always have our guests ask specifically to go to “the wine place” to which we are more than happy to oblige. Tonight we had Sam as our server for the first time and we will be back in hopes to be served by him again. Fun, knowledgeable, and good humored - a very nice “paring” for our bottles an food. Everything was great and the waitress had great recommendations but honestly, the best part was dessert. They had an olive oil chocolate cake and sour dough ice cream which I’d never heard of before. It was literally the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted. I couldn’t believe how good it was. I don’t even like chocolate and the olive oil cake was amazing too!! I think they should become a wine and dessert bar instead.

Abbey is amazing! I walked in and said I needed a great Montrechet to send as a "thank you" to a client. She took me right over and spoke with me with courtesy and respect. I asked for a more rare selection after telling her I knew nothing of wine. Abbey stayed very close to the original price we had discussed for the first wine when she brought out a couple of finer wines.THIS is the part that impressed me the most. She did not take advantage of my wine ignorance.I will only go to Dedalus Wine and work with Abbey.Her knowledge and integrity have earned a grateful client.

Visited the establishment for a late evening glass of wine and received very subpar service. The kitchen staff must have burned someone’s dinner because there was smoke permeated the entire dining area that stung my eyes. The dining area is fairly small so you are elbow to elbow with your neighbor. Noise level is on the high end so be ready to shout across the table at time. Too bad you couldn’t drink the snootiness from the waiter because you will get plenty of that. Won’t return unless the wine is free. Pass.

Dedalus wine bar is equally excellent whether youre going there for a date night or just looking for a glass of wine and meal on your own.I was there while driving through Burlington on a Thursday night and was able to get a spot at the bar. Service was friendly, efficient and knowledgable. As this was a wine bar, I picked a glass (a whiteand then asked for meal recommendations to pair, and the suggestion recieved was spot on (the daily special).After dinner, Id recommend taking the time to browse their bottleshop while youre there. They boast some interesting picks and have excellent descriptions for each lot to help guide your choice.

A must when you are in Burlington! Wine bar that will blow your mind. Inside the wineshop itself, you can slip in the store to purchase your favorite discovery. Staff is so warm and extremely knowledgeable!I cant wait to visit them again

Disappointing. I chose Dedalus for a pre-dinner outing on my birthday, expecting a great experience from people who really know wine. I’d gone to Dedalus a couple times years ago and had an amazing experience, with a sommelier visit to our table along with amazing wine and snacks, so I felt the higher prices here were worth it. Not so this time. The service was no better than any mid-level restaurant, the wine was ho-hum, and the small $28 cheese plate was just OK. When serving our wine, our server said nothing, just splashed it into our glasses and walked away. If we were anywhere else I wouldn’t have thought twice about that, but I guess I expected something better here. So just don’t go with high expectations about your experience in the wine bar. The real experts are behind the counter in the store area.

Honestly disappointing. Walked in with high expectations but was let down everywhere. The website said they had select dessert wines and the girl at the store said "we definitely dont have those, we never did". In the dining room we ordered every red on the wine by the glass which is all Granache in different ways and the most disappointing charcuterie board in the world with a big plate of 3 small pieces of cheese which two of were inedible. Dont worry, if youre still hungry you can order the 12$ stone cold bread with 1oz of butter.Marinated olives were not bad.

I had an online order. They didnt have it in their system, but after seeing my confirmation email they said it would be 30 minutes. We came back. Good food, maybe a tad overpriced. Overall good experience. I would call to verify they are ready for your order next time.

Wayy expensive, but a fun treat. The folks who sell the cheese and meats are excellent. The wines that we have bought have also been above and beyond what we buy at the grocery store.

I feel like I should be able to give this place 10 stars: 5 for the wine bar and 5 for the wine shop. Amazing selection of wines, slightly more expensive than they probably should be, but where else in Vermont are you going to find Envinate or Yann Bertrand (answer: nowhere), so it’s worth it. Awesome spot, I wish we lived closer!

Amazing selection in general but specifically of natural wines and surprisingly tinned seafood conservas from Spain, Portugal, and France. Really good cheese too.

New chef, new menu, new (soon to openoutside space.The old wine bar was already one my my favorite spots in town. Now, it isnt "one of" my favorite spots in town, but outright my favorite spot in town.Last year, they experimented with an outdoor "pop up" style grill with burgers and simple summer salads like caprese. Word is thats going to become a more regular fixture. Put simply, that burger was the best Ive ever had, and the rest of the meal was one of the best Ive had. Obviously, the wine itself was absolutely amazing as well.For the wine bar, the new food is unbelievable. I wont bother to go into specifics, just go, you wont be disappointed.The service here is amazing - everything is friendly, super passionate and incredibly helpful. The overall vibe of dedalus is incredible - nice but casual, fancy but laid back. It takes the pretentiousness out of fine wine and amazing food, and lets people just enjoy themselves and their meals without feeling like they need to be completely stoic.If youre looking for a spot thats ideal for date night, a business dinner or a place to take visitors out to, this is the spot. Or just come here for whatever reason you want and enjoy incredible food and wine without an excuse, its up to you!

Very good wine selection at decent pricing. Really good cheese counter. I also love their homemade sausages and all the other treats they have! Also go there to dine, they have a nice outdoor area. It is not cheap, but who expects high quality delicious food to be cheap? Also, I recently discovered their bread - delicious! Compare to Caputos Delicatessen in Brooklyn

Highly recommend the wine bar (cannot speak to the shop, though I am sure it is fantastic)! We had to change our reservation and they were very accommodating. I believe our waitress was Brittany, she suggested a wonderful wine and told us the background story on it. What a lady!

Had dinner "on the green" last weekend. Holy cow- the food was incredible! The heirloom tomatoes, halloumi, and flatbread were ~chefs kiss~. Plus an awesome wine selection. This place is a gem.

Purchased a bottle of wine online and had it delivered to a friend who is celebrating an engagement. Because they delivery was local, it was delivered same day. I called and Emmy even personalized a message for me. Great service and fantastic selection. Highly recommended!

Great place to buy amazing natural wine or stop for a drink. The restaurant can be a little too noisy for me when they’ve got a DJ and it’s not always easy to chat with your group over dinner without shouting. I couldn’t knock them for it since the general crowds seem to enjoy it but it’s a good thing to keep in mind when booking for dinner! Food has always been enjoyable too, smallish portions but rich and flavorful so you don’t want huge plates and you can try a lot of different things.

Liam is amazing. He took us through a detailed and educational experience with our wine tonight. He really took the time to understand what we enjoy and present us with new and exciting options. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone, new wine drinkers and connoisseur.

I have never been a wine person,but after my time at Dedalus, I need to spend more time with wine. Scott and his team are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about wine. Fantastic selection of wine at very affordable prices. Should be a must visit place in Burlington. Well done.

How did Burlington get so lucky?! This spot seems like it belongs in a big city, though it comes without any of the pretentiousness one might expect from an upscale wine bar and market! Do yourself a favor and sign up for one of their Wine 101 classes if you get the chance! Every visit here feels like a cultural learning experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable both in the shop and bar and never steers you wrong with great recommendations, regardless of how much you do or dont know about wine. The sandwiches from the cheese counter are definitely Burlingtons best lunch deal, too!

This is a great place to try new cheeses. Theres always samples out and there are so many new to me items that Ive purchased for an at home or party cheese plate. You really cant find the selection anywhere else. Id say the same for charcuterie selection. If you get items in their wine bar and like them you can purchase them right in the store. The wine selection is amazing and dont be intimidated thinking this is too expensive for you, which was my initial sorry, there is a very large price range. The staff is full of recommendations based on your likes/dislikes and are happy to assist. A must try. Youll become a regular.

Really cool wine bar/shop. Lots of wines, cheese and charcuterie in the shop. Dinner at the wine bar is awesome. Its expensive but delicious, and all the people taking care of you really know the menu and their wine so its easy to get really good recommendations on what to drink. Plus if the shop closes before youre done eating they can still open up a register and you can buy a bottle if theres something you liked.

Great place, both the wine shop and the wine bar. Staff is very knowledgeable and makes good recommendations. Lots of good options in terms of wine by the bottle and by the glass. Food was also top notch. The charcuterie plate was fabulous and varied in terms of items and the duck confit salad was awesome.

The best!! Dedalus is *the* place to go in northern Vermont for an always-amazing selection of bottles and wines by the glass. The vibe is cosy and friendly, and its the perfect place to meet friends or a date. The fabulous Dedalus sommeliers have introduced me to many wines and winemakers who have become favorites! Whether you prefer classic regions like Burgundy, Champagne and Beaujolais or natural, funkier wine, Dedalus will make you happy. And did I mention the food?!? Dont miss it...the menu changes frequently and is always delicious.

This review is mainly for the restaurant. We had a large party so we were able to sample many of the items, which were generally excellent - creative and well-presented. We ordered everything to share for the table and the kitchen and servers paced the arrival of items very well. The wine list had plenty of interesting choices at good to excellent prices. For a wine bar I was a bit surprised that there were not more offerings by the glass, but thats just a quibble. The wine shop and cheese/charcuterie/specialty side of the house are equally worthy of 5 stars.

Wonderful selection of wine. Outstanding food. Sat at the bar. The woman who served me was knowledgeable and helpful. The associated wine store had an amazing selection. Off the center of town by a few blocks, but well worth the trip.

This place is absolutely fantastic. A great mix of wines, and tasty food. The somms that work here really know their stuff. They can help you find a starting place for where to begin, to creating a great learning experience for more seasoned wine drinkers. The place is beautiful, and I would recommend to all.

The oysters were delicious, the best $1 oysters in the area! If nothing else, go for these! Our server did a lovely job explaining the various wines to us in typical sommelier fashion. He was knowledgeable and initially cared for us very well. That being said, I do know that if I am going to pay $9.00-$15.00 per a glass of wine, I should get a new glass when I switch from white to red. Instead I had each new wine poured over the remaining drops of the last. Not a huge deal to me personally taste wise, but if this place is going to hold up the sophisticated facade, at least do so across the board.Now for food: My partners oysters were forgotten while mine were brought out in a timely manner. The place began to fill with various suit and tie customers and soon, we too were forgotten about. After we had consumed six glasses of wine, the second order of oysters finally arrived and, though promised to on the house due to inconvenience, were on the bill. The bill needed to be requested and not to our server who hadnt checked on us in a full glass of wine time, but to a bus girl refilling our water. Proper closure to the meal is a key element to receiving a great review in my book, especially when there has been some sort of dissatisfying experience during the meal.I wanted so badly to love this place but the service did not match the presentation. Pro tip: never guess the size of a customers wallet based off of physical appearance. Your dedication to the more flashy, wealthy looking customers caused your service with us to slide and your potential 30% tip to be sliced in half.

Visited for a friends birthday recently. This was a nice change of pace from the bar scene. Not being familiar with wines I was anxious about what to order, however the servers were very helpful. More importantly, they were willing to teach rather than being pretentious. Really appreciated that. It is a fun spot to enjoy a glass of wine!

Dedalus is an absolutely fantastic wine shop.Although they concentrate on up-scale wines, they are NOT wine snobs. To be sure, some of their wines are pricey but the majority are within the $10 - $25/bottle price range. The wines here are all good values, no matter how much youre willing to spend.The staff is uniformly well-informed and helpful. Looking for a wine to pair with dinner? Theyll give you multiple selections to choose from, without busting your budget.Weve been members of their wine club for 3 years. In that time, I can recall exactly ONE wine that we did not care for.They love wine at Dedalus and treat both the wines and their customers with respect.
