Deckchair Cafe in Tauranga

Simply wow. The Eggs Benedict was incredible. The coffee was great. The service was very quick, but also friendly and such a wonderful location, opposite the Mount beach. Highly recommended!

Had some amazing food and has a great view of the ocean!

I wasnt a huge fan of the Fish of the day. It was quite bland. Also, they forgot our 3x juices and we waited for a long time. By the time we finished our meal, I couldnt wait anymore. Luckily I followed up because they lost the paper order. Although they were somewhat apologetic, I felt our table just felt very forgotten. No one checked up on us or asked if we needed anything else when our meal was delivered. Our number was clearly displayed showing that we were still waiting for food. When we did get our juices, they were pretty good!

Amazing food we had the eggs bene and the bagel special, coffee and iced coffee were awesome and staff were friendly would totally recommend :)

Ordered two coffees and a muffin from the counter and set down to enjoy.Short after the coffees arrived a waitress came into our area and started to throw around chairs and started packing up the sounding tables and chairs at 1.30 pm !!!.The savoury muffin was not eatable...We left....

Yummy food! Great view with umbrellas to sit under to get out of the sun. Reasonable priced compared to the surrounding cafes!

Great location, with outdoor seating in the shade and sun! They have an option where you can order through QR codes, which was fast, and seamless. Food arrived promptly, and was yummy. However they forgot the some key ingredients (BBQ sauce).

Basic waffle, flavours were good. Nice amount of fruit and toppings.Ambience was alright, beachfront. Expected more quality for the price and location.

Very disappointed with the DC big brekkie. I shouldve ordered the eggs benedict. Big brekkie came with 1 mushroom, menu said mushrooms. Toast was thick and came without butter. We had to ask for butter. What u see in pic is what you get 2/5

Great position on the seafront, ordered via their link which was super easy, although beware the photo on the menu is not what you get. I ordered avocado smash, in the photo it showed 2 pieces of bagel with avo and a poached egg on each, nah it came with avo on one side and one egg, felt like we had been dupped. Tasted good anyway. There was no one available when ordering or when leaving to speak too.

We had a group off about ten and a staff member sorted a table for us outside. We all were wearing our masks and scanning in when ordering and had our vaccine pass also scanned. Another option was also available to order from your table with a QR code and table number and pay from your phone. One person did it this way and it worked very well . Yes the coffee ☕ and food option were great also. 👍

Ive been visiting this cafe over the last year or so. The staff are multinational and very personable. The menu includes staples like Eggs Benedict, together with their own dishes, currently a beef pie with tantalizing spices. Not spicy hot, just comfortably unusual.The prices are fairly standard. The coffee is tasty, and of course the beach views are to-die-for.Well recommended.

Great location right opposite the beach! Food was really good. But bread for eggs bene was too hard and was not a hit. Coffee was ok. Nutella cookie pie was soo dry. Would I go back, yeah but it wouldn’t be my first pick. Prices are affordable too.

Open late and close early for some reason, even during school holidays with good weather. Couldn’t get a coffee at 7:50am as they were still opening up. Then they pack up at 2:15pm. Weird.

Brought my partner here for mother’s day brunch, ended up waiting near to an hour for our food while a big group of people sitting next to us recieved their food around the same time as we did and had been there for no longer than 15 mins. Had to order a 2nd coffee to have with our food. Very small portion for breakfast compared to coffee club next door. Wouldn’t recommend this place. Only reason for 2 star is because the coffee was good.

Was very disappointed today , took my daughter who is over from Australia to my favourite beach side cafe. It was 12 MIDDAY !! we luckily got the last 2 date scones (for which most people come to the cafe ordered 2 seafood chowder to be told 2 mins later that it was sold out???? We had already paid and was asked to order something else which we did our meals were OK but not what we went there for. I was the head chef of a restaurant for many years and know that your popular dishes should not run out when lunch has just begun!!!! To add insult to injury as we were leaving we were asked to pay an extra amount as the meal we MADE DO with cost more that the chowder. I was stunned as you took our money and could not provide what we had paid for you should have had the good grace to carry the extra few dollars for good customer relations. It seems to me that the cafe is under new management and they are unable to cope!!! Wont be going back anytime soon.

Went here with 5 friends and we all enjoyed our choices for brunch. The scones we had were delicious, the bagel I had, which is pictured, was fab. The coffee and drinks were great too. Service was excellent - we will definitely be back. Well worth a visit.

Always good for a superb coffee or brunch. Great cabinet food and plenty of out door seating. A true beach coffee place

Always busy. Great food and coffee. My only cons are: 1. Closes too early in the day 2. Kids food isn’t very kid friendly - French toast was try-hard healthy sort. One slice thin soggy-eggy bread covered in syrup and fruit (inc cooked banana, apple sticks, pear, strawberry, kiwifruit, rhubarb and some weird yoghurt and nut mash). This caused end of the world event for fussy non-fruit eater and had to get her a cheese scone (menu just says kids French toast so be warned).

Ordered 3 meals and three drinks. Smoothie came out without a straw,so hand to go inside and get one and wait to behind others ordering at the bar. Food came out 30 mins after ordering, have a rule of thumb that if the wait is longer than 20mins you should be advised. The chips were almost in the point of being cold, but burgers we nice.

Bad service and bland food.Juice tasted terrible (as if peels, skin and fruit were all blended togetherand warm, regardless having requested it to be cold. Pointed out to a waitress that most glasses available for water were dirty (maybe customers placed them in the wrong pile), including some with lipstick marks, but was completed ignored.Do not reccomend and not willing to try this cafe ever again.

Very average food (burger and fish and chips), drinks also very average. Customer servicing sucks, staff doesnt know how to serve customers and does not even care about cleaning up the tables. Definitely wont go back again.

The cafe food was fine but we had to eat while the staff rushed about packing up tables and chairs and this was 2 hours prior to the advertised closure time. The cafe was in 2 parts with the other side remaining open. This made us feel very uncomfortable as if we were outstaying our welcome. Not good at all.

5 Star Rating! Such a delicious brunch and the service was really quick even though they were really busy! Pretty pricey but worth it as the meals were large! I ordered the vegie DC breakfast and couldnt finish it all. The veggie sausage was like a falafel type sausage which was AMAZING! Way better than fake meat which some places do. Definitely will be returning!

Just been served about 1/3 of a tomato and 1/4 of an avacado on a bagel. The tomato surprisingly consisted of both ends of the tomato with very little of the flesh that would be between the ends. Such little filing the top half of the bagel was essentially a dry piece of bread.

3 Breakfast orders plus coffees, first impressions, should have left then, unsmiling server, coffees mixed up, asked us to try one to see if it was the right one!! What if it wasnt? Coffees were lukewarm, Eggs bene pretty much 2 eggs on 2 muffins $4.50 extra for bacon, The DC big breakfast was cold baked beans, a dark brown potato rosti? 1/2 a breakfast sausage sliced lengthways, 6 small button mushrooms some tomato chutney/relish, only saviour was the eggs. Would not recommend, most disappointing breakfasts/meals Ive had in Tauranga, 80+ bucks wasted

Definitely won’t be coming back here, ordered a takeaway coffee yesterday, charged me extra for the takeaway cup (which is fine but they didn’t tell me and there was so signage to say otherwisethen took 20 minutes for my coffee to come - no apologies for the delay and they got my order wrong. Wasn’t keen to wait another 20 minutes for them to correct it.

Nice enough. The vegan breakfast looked plunked on the plate; no cohesion and care for making it look appetising to the palate or eyes. Coconut flat white was pretty good though!

Okay, obviously convenient location being right across the street from the main beach but the food was uninspiring. The fish tacos were okay (pretty good portion of fish actually), and the burger about the same. If you can, would walk back toward the main strip as there are many other options.

Prime location, pleasant staff, a good selection on the menu. The cabinet food displayed inside looked scrumptious.We had ceaser salad with a generous amount of chicken which was good, I had seafood soup which had some seafood in it.

Its typically busy here, even in winter for the obvious reason, location. The coffee is good, the food is great. Good menu board items as well as large selection of pre-prepared cabinet food. Service is generally good, but can take a while to get orders out when its busy.

I have been waiting 40 minutes after ordering food and still no food, i go to the cashier to check on how much longer itll be and get told an additional 10 minutes. Really poor service delivery, and saying their busy isnt good enough because order numbers higher than ours recieved their food first.Definitely avoid this place if theyre busy as they cant manage their establishment correctly. Just to add to their service the cups they brought us werent washed.The manager didnt see any problem with this.

I have never eaten here so I cant account for the food or drink. However I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to the lady owner and her daughter. My wife and I were in Tauranga for her sons wedding in August. We had been using Uber/Llyft with no problem. Unbelievably when we really needed it to get to the wedding there were none available. I asked a fellow who looked like he was from Tauranga that Id pay him to take us to the wedding. He said he would be couldnt because he was making deliveries. I was trying to figure out another way to get to the wedding to no avail. The fellow, Duncan, came up a minute later and said the lady who owns Deckchair would give us a ride. She came out and saw my wife in tears and ran back inside to get her some tissues and then we were underway. We got to the wedding on time thanks to her kindness and Duncans effort. Its the first time Ive been to NZ and found it to be wonderful in every way. Again thank you for helping us out and well be sure to patronize you cafe!

Took about 10 minutes to heat up a muffin, ordered a large hot chocolate and got a regular. When I said I paid for a large I got a sour look and then the lady came back with a large which tasted like she just topped up the regular with milk cause it didnt taste like chocolate it just tasted like hot milk.

Took an hour to get our food when the counter said it would be half an hour. No apology offered. We ordered a bagel and a chicken salad. When the food arrived we found that chicken was uncooked, squishy and slimey. No compensation for our $20 salad, just a weak sorry. Really disappointing waste of our time. Do not go here!

Lovely view of the beach while enjoying a nice lunch. Staff were pleasant, price was average and we loved sitting outside. The seagulls can be very cheeky swiping food from your plate while you’re not watching! it was quite late and they were partly cleaning up. However we were made to feel very welcome, the service was great and the food lovely would go back again.

Food was lovely once it arrived. They need a new system for knowing who ordered what. Had staff bringing wrong food 3 times wrong drink 2 times.Then had to ask where my drink was. They gave us a number so why not use the number to find where food and drink goes. Not rocket science.

I think Deckchair does a good job. They have a larger menu than other cafes at the Mount, but I cant say they are better for it. The food is all around high quality, but they have competition just a few doors down that I think delivers a slightly higher quality product. Nevertheless, you wont be disappointed by your meal at Deckchair and should give it a try.

Nice spot across the road form the beach, cafe styled food as well as the option of alcohol, note you can only be seated in a certain zone to drink alchohol. Service was friendly and quick and the atmosphere was relaxing. Worth a visit for a bite to eat and a drink

Lovely service and a decent eggs Benedict. Drinks came out just before good which was great. Friendly atmosphere - lots of the customers interacted with each other which was nice.

Absolutely stunning food! Best Eggs Benedict Ive ever eaten in New Zealand. Highly recommend! Stunning view.

One of the worst Cafes i have been to.Got my order wrong, for both food and drink, and even when they got it right, it was pretty sub-par.Nice if you want a place to sit down and admire the great view, Not if you actually want to eat and drink coffee.

Nice little cafe, lots of selection of foods from cabinet goodies to something more substantial you could order. Lovely service and views to beachfront beautiful. The little quiche sadly was a bit bland, and the side salad a bit basic for the price, but the carrot cake huge muffin was delicious and the coffee excellent!!

Professional cafe services, lots of options from the menu and the food cabinet...the famous surfing beach just cross the road and have plenty of outside tables that can enjoy the view and breeze ~
