Decanter Hotel in San Juan

They gave a key to my room to another guest and refused to take responsibility - very dangerous - this is why tourists stay in 5 start resorts and not local places - sad to say

We loved The Decanter & the entire staff..especially "Angel & Angelina" were awesome the junior suite we had was nice & their location in old San Juan was perfect..👍🏼

Hotel is very nice, rooms are spacious, modern and clean. Very expensive for the amenties offered. Hotel restaurant is highly overpriced, rooftop bar is charming but drinks are top dollar. I think the room prices are just too much for a no frills experience, would look elsewhere for a better value personally.

Very nice and clean hotel in Old San Juan. Great location is walkable to lots of restaurants and sightseeing. Staff is friendly and helpful. They had a pullout couch made up for the kids when we arrived. About 20 to 25 minutes from the airport, but a cheap Uber ride from the airport. We will definitely stay here again when in San Juan.

The location of this beautiful boutique hotel is perfect for restaurants and nightlife. My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. We walked everywhere bc of the convenience. The staff was amazingly friendly and accommodating! The rooms are clean and spacious w high ceilings, comfortable beds and beautiful balconies. The only disappointment we had was the rooftop bar was closed for a private event the last night we were there, so we couldnt enjoy that amenity. We would definitely stay here again. We had a wonderful experience! Thank you, Decanter! ❤️

Stay away from Decanter Hotel. They have very young and inconsiderate staff that do not like tourist and they show it. The front desk agent Gladys lied and said she was a manager of the Decanter hotel and the reservation staff Angel lied about being a supervisor. They both were unprofessional and argued with paying customers. Low class staff.I’ve never experienced a hotel filled with perpetrators, no management on property, and rude staff in any of my travels as I did at this hotel. The French suite rooms are misleading and fail to meet the description given as advertised. The parking-well,there is no parking. Before booking I called to ask if any parking was nearby and I was informed parking was an option behind the hotel. LIE! I still have not been in touch with a REAL manager or professional from this hotel. Does one exist?Awful, awful, awful!After a long day of arguing with these people we left and stayed at a 4 star hotel that offered prestige service.Lastly, there were bugs on the sheets and a roach crawling across the floor a big part of the reason I cancelled my reservation.I have not heard back from a REAL manager from this hotel to compensate from this bad experience.

Gross!!! The staff is RUDE period. Beyond rude! I have never been treated this way in my entire life. It’s false advertising and the place is extremely dirty!!! I saw roaches everywhere!!!!!! And the woman that says she’s a supervisor is very disrespectful! Needs a class on customer service. I am absolutely appalled!

Clean, comfortable small hotel, centrally located. Simple decor. Great restaurant & rooftop bar onsite.

You couldnt ask for a better location! The room was spacious and cool and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is stylish and the rooftop is always open. The best thing about this hotel is the incredible staff. Every single person was helpful, friendly, and welcoming. Would stay again!

Beautiful hotel and location. The rooms facing street side are extremely noisy. All night long there were people screaming and partying. I would definitely pick another hotel on a quiet side street

Hotel was beautiful. Staff exceptional. We had a suite with a balcony. The room was beautiful. Then night time came. The walls or doors are so thin that you hear everything and everyone. The street was literally in my room. The cars with loud music playing, the drunks walking back from the bars from 12am to 3 am. The trash pick up at lord knows what hour, at that point I just laughed. The second night was worse so I made a pallet on the bathroom floor (it was quiet in there). Yes for $200 a night I slept on a tile bathroom floor to get some sort of sleep. If you come bring ear plugs and a good sense of humor for all that you will hear.

My husband and I stopped in the bar here on our way to Castillo San Felipe el Morro. We had our 9 month old and a stroller. This place gave off a sheek ambience and was well lit. We needed to feed our baby and planned on a couple of drinks (and use the very nice and clean restroom). All of the staff, the lady at the front desk, Carla, our server and the bartender were so accommodating to us. The bartender was obviously excellent in his service and made us a fresh drink with fresh pomegranate juice, lime and liquor. It was amazing! Great service is hard to come by these days but this crew hit it on all fronts.

First trip to Puerto Rico and this is the perfect hotel. Super convenient to restaurants and nightlife. Rooms are very nice. Beds are comfy and linens are high quality. A/C is strong and kept the room very cool. The rooftop bar has amazing views and delicious high quality hand crafted cocktails.

This is a really nice boutique hotel in a great location for visiting Old San Juan. Our room was newly renovated and very comfortable. There is also a nice rooftop bar that serves drinks and tapas in the late afternoon and evening.

Extremely impressed with staff, cleanliness, and location. An awesome cozy hotel and reasonably priced. Liked it and will be going back in March 2022. Keep up the good work.

The staff were extremely friendly and nice. Always had a smile on their face. Very welcoming. The hotel is very clean as well as the rooms. The location of the hotel is basically in the middle of everything. Uber is really cheap anyways.The room they gave us was nice but small.The AC stopped working at night so therefore we couldn’t sleep well the first night. Also, no hot water. However, the staff gave us a new room the next afternoon. It was clean and everything was working. The hotel is under construction so no rooftop and the walls of your room are super thin so you can hear even the people talking in the hallway. We kept getting woken up by people who were having conversations in the hallways. Also, a dog kept barking at night.Overall, it was a good experience with a little few hiccups.

Cute little boutique hotel. Alexander was so nice and kind checking us in in the late evening. The rooms are spacious. Ordered a bottle of wine that was nice. The mattress is comfortable yet very very squeaky. There is also no food available in the city after 10p. We were very hungry upon arrival...would be nice if they had sandwiches to purchase in this scenario.

Rooms are clean and comfy. Staff is always super nice. The whole hotel is always clean and comfy. A few things could make this hotel an easy 5. Rooftop being closed really was a bummer as I like earlier evenings back at the hotel to wind down.Staff were amazing BUT often times didn’t give good recommendations. Most were nonexistent. At 6:30 I asked for a restaurant for dinner. I said no bar type food but “fancy restaurant”. They told me there weren’t any but a pub up the street on the right. I had a 5am flight into PR then a tour when we landed at 8:30 am so I was beat and assumed a recommendation for dinner was easy. Had it happen once again. Pretty simple questions to be answered but everyone was so nice it’s easy to overlook.

Great little boutique hotel. Location is ideal, staff is super friendly. Was very clean, and felt very safe.There were a few quirks we didnt necessarily love:It was under construction while we were there, and during the week they typically started at 7:00am.At the time of this writing, the rooftop bar was closed for construction.The neighbors dog was a profound annoyance--barking at all hours of the night.Overall, a 4/5. Liked staying there, but wasnt blown away by the experience.

This was our last stop on a 10 day Puerto Rico vacation. Room was spotless and very comfortable staff was extremely helpful. Super central location. The only downside of this place is that it is located on a street that is used for government parking during the week and the police that "guard" the area are just the worst. Ery rude and tried to write me a ticket just for trying to drop off my bag before returning my rental car.

The location was amazing and the room was beautiful. They didnt communicate about the restaurant and bar being shutdown, luckily the location is so good we still had plenty to do. Just make sure you check first before you make a reservation.

We loved this hotel!! They put in so much effort in cleaning the rooms (which actually justifies the late 4pm start for check ins...). Even the remotes are wrapped in plastic. The high ceilings are absolutely wonderful and we had the street view balcony which was amazing. It was just a bit awkward seeing our neighbors on the balcony as well as it is just separated by small bushes. Some hiccups including the power going out at 10pm which led both TVs not working and the sink flooding because the drain was broken. NONETHELESS, we loved the service and the stay. They also held our bags before our check in so we could explore -- while they told us they would call us as soon as we could check in, that never happened.

Perfect location while staying in old San Juan. Theyre currently remodeling the upstairs so that area was unavailable. However the rooms were clean and staff were friendly. I would suggest booking a room with a balcony, especially whole a curfew is still in effect. Being in the interior rooms by 11pm could have been better if we would have paid the extra to have a view of the city. I would book again in the future.

Stayed here Sat night 03/28, the perfect spot to see Old San Juan in 24 hrs.The staff, (Gladys, Vivianna and Angel treated us like old friends, helped us feel comfortable after a long drive from Rincon - the hotels located in the heart of the Old city so we were able to see much of the history. We completed our day at Triana for tapas and Flemenco dancingJust a wonderful time...Our Queen Terrace room was superb...Thanks everyone - Joe O

The Decanter embodies Old San Juan. Its a small upscale boutique hotel with every area having something of interest. Dont blink as you walk down Calle de la Luna or youll miss the entrance which gives a feel like you are walking into your home. We had a Terrace suite and even though they are repainting the hotel, it is hardly noticable and Im not sure we would have if they didnt tell us. The suite itself is good for 4 people and is very roomy. Only complaints is they only had 2 towels in the room nbd orders up more.We would have liked to eat at their restaurant but that is under construction. Not worries about dining its in the heart of old san juan and the best dining options are within 3 blocks.

Overall the experience at Decanter Hotel is very good and I would recommend staying. Service was great and very attentive. The room was clean and nice. Location is absolutely perfect. My only issue is they never had additional water bottles on hand. After finishing our bottles in the room the first day, we asked twice for additional water over two days and they were always out of stock. Not a horrible thing by any means, but I think something like water should never run out.

Charming hotel in the heart of the old San Juan. You’ll be at a walking distance from many, many shops, restaurants and historical sites.The staff at Decanter went above and beyond on multiple occasions to make sure my stay was pleasant, and for that reason I’ll choose Decanter whenever I return to San Juan.

Celebrated my anniversary stayed for 3 nights My room was King bed with balcony., very clean and had a view of the church from my balcony. Great location, is Centrally located and within walking distance to all points of intrest, restaurants and local bars. Street Parking is hard to come by in Old San Juan but there is a 24 hr valet parking at the church down the block. Host/ hostess were awesome recommending places to eat and get cocktails. The roof top patio is very nice there are tables with umbrellas and has a nice view.

We missed our flight and decided to try Old San Juan for the last night. I was more than impressed with this cute hotel. They sanitized our luggage and my purse, the bed was very comfortable and the staff was really nice. Other than the city noise which is to be expected and no Beach view. I wish I would’ve stay here instead of the 5 nights at the Marriott Stellaris. They give complimentary water, it’s a fridge, microwave, wine glasses and a carafe. They had EVERYTHING that guest touch wrapped in Saran Wrap, a beautiful balcony area and rooftop bar. I would definitely recommend if you wanna be in the middle of the action. Great last night in Puerto Rico!

Some upsides and some downsides to staying here. For about $165 a night, Im fairly happy with the room we had. Being on the ground floor we had a lot of street noise. Earplugs are a must. There is no coffee in the room. The wifi constantly disconnects. The doors are thin so I got a lot of noise from the hallways. The interior design, on the other hand, is phenomenal. The rooms have high ceilings and the overall style fits well with the local area. Everything was clean! If you dont like cats outside on the street, this isnt the place for you.

We had a great time here. It is conveniently located around lots of great bars and shops. The staff we came in contact with was always friendly and helpful with anything we needed and there is someone on site 24/7. The rooftop is beautiful and we sat up there and drank some wine one night to a beautiful view!It’s super quiet at night but definitely hear more things during the morning hours. The only bummer is we only had a small window in our room and I wish we would have upgraded to a room with a view! The rooms are really clean and nice but definitely very small.

I really enjoyed this hotel. The design is superb and really feels like a secret hotel. There is absolutely no parking around, spare for the ever-overcrowded public lot across the way. I encourage you to take an Uber. But such is the way in Old San Juan. Everything is within walking distance and the environment is indulgent. I would absolutely come back and stay at the Decanter Hotel.

Great hotel, fantastic staff, amazing room and great location. We stayed one night before our cruise and loved it. we had a french balcony suite which was clean, comfortable and the a.c. was cranking. The roof top terrace was a nice addition. Highly recommend, cant wait to go back.

This hotel was amazing. My husband and I booked the french balcony suite. For some reason it didnt register in my head that this was a suite, so I was surprised by the separate bedroom and the kitchenette. We loved the french balcony. However, there was some man in his residence that we looked directly down upon who was outside in his underwear for longer than I would have preferred. We were a little put off by the use of an actual key rather than a key card, but they do offer to hold the key for you while you are out as the front desk is 24 hours. It was very quiet during our stay and I cannot even sleep at night when my husband is breathing too loud. I would definitely stay here again.

I don’t have words to express how much I loved staying in this hotel. Check in was a breeze and everyone who works here is super sweet and accommodating. The hotel is stunning inside and out. We got a French balcony suite, the decor is to die and they have a roof top which offers stunning views of old San Juan. The only con is they don’t have a parking lot and public parking in old San Juan can get expensive. We paid $100 a night for our room which is a great deal. I will definitely be staying here again when visiting San Juan.

This was an excellent hotel experience. I spend more than 70 nights a year in hotels and I am not easily impressed. The staff was amazing. Very friendly and accommodating. The room was nice, but a bit noisy due to downtown street noise. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Exceptional customer service during our 1 night stay in December prior to boarding a cruise the next afternoon. Great location for exploring old San Juan on foot. We relaxed on the rooftop patio with a bottle of wine after flying all day. It was such a pleasant surprise to receive such friendly and professional treatment in a touristy area. I would make the Decanter my home base if I ever get a chance to spend more time in Puerto Rico. Everywhere we went in Old San Juan people were warm, friendly and helpful.

Clean spacious rooms with breath taking views of the city (we had 6 balcony rooms total). Customer service was absolutely wonderful! Location is central to food, shopping, night life, bars and so much more. You can take a taxi or walk as everything was pretty close by. I personally enjoyed walking though. I’ve already began to plan my next visit and I can not wait to return

We loved our stay at the Decanter. The staff is friendly, professional and extremely helpful. The hotel is charming and close enough to anything we needed/wanted, but not too close to the busy-ness of Old San Juan. Our room was lovely with a balcony overlooking Calle Luna. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nicely appointed with all the necessities. The kitchenette/bar area was an added bonus!We will definitely return on our next trip to San Juan.

Decanter Hotel was great! Inexpensive, big room with a king bed and little balcony. AC worked well, and the ceiling fan was nice. It is conveniently located just a few blocks from great restaurants & bars, shopping, and a bunch of attractions. Grab coffee & some breakfast 1 block away and enjoy it on the rooftop! I wish there were power outlets closer to the bed and desk, but we got by.

Great location, housekeeping does an excellent job, clean facility, no restaurant on site, but so many restaurants within walking distance. Staff are kind and courteous. Love the hotel kitty. You dont need a car at this location you can walk to all Old San Juan sites. I recommend this quaint hotel, I would stay here again.

This was a beautiful and culturally gorgeous building, the staff were absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond to help me and my friend out, they watched our luggage as we had arrived several hours earlier than check-in time but wanted to explore the Old San Juan streets without lugging our stuff around. They also let us charge our phones while we were out walking around 2, fresh coffee and bottled water, clean rooms and a beautiful shower. The twin beds were some of the most comfortable beds Ive ever slept in, and the Rooftop chairs to gaze over the city with were awesome.

This hotel is conveniently located in Viejo San Juan. We did not rent a vehicle. It was our best decision. We walked everywhere. The staff in the hotel is so helpful and friendly. They gave us suggestions to where to go, what to do, where to eat and they always had a smile. They were very friendly with Donna, our service dog. The room was AMAZING! We chose the balcony one. So cozy! We had our own terrace, where we enjoyed a bottle of champagne that one of the owner gave us because it was our marriage anniversary. This is our second year coming to this beautiful place. We love the location, the common areas, the interior design, the rooms and the best, the staff! We will stay in Decanter Hotel again when visiting PR without a doubt.

Absolutely fantastic, I stayed here with 4 other people after a 7 day cruise. It was great, we all loved the hotel. They are surprisingly well staffed - we always found someone at the front desk,and they all spoke really fluent English. Will save it for my next trip!

An excellent hotel. Wonderful location and great attentive staff. I upgraded to a room with a balcony, and had a beautiful view of the cathedral and the area. You can see the bay and much of the city from the terrace. We bought a bottle of wine and enjoyed the sunset and early evening with the view. A special, homey place, they also offered a simple breakfast which got us started on our day.
