De Real Ting Café in Jacksonville

Came to night club time….was told $20 for a crown a coke!!!!! NEGATIVE!!!!!!

Daily lunch specials. Carribean buffet on Thursdays and Fridays until 2pm. The fish is well seasoned and crunchy and my FAVORITE. Other items like stew chicken, jerk chicken, oxtails (for $2 extrapork chops, white, rice, yellow rice, beans and rice, mac and cheese and these bread pudding mini things that are soooo addictive. I dont even look at the salad, there are too many flavors to try.

Amazing time! Bring a chair because seats fill quickly outside. Drinks were 4.50 each! Definitely going again!

Absolutely the best peach cobbler and bread pudding in Jacksonville Florida! I am a connoisseur of peach cobbler and bread pudding and if you dont catch their lunch buffet of all you can eat ox tails, curry goat and curry chicken for $14.99 then you cant blame anyone but yourself!Warning!!! If youre going back to work afterwards then I recommend you make sure you got a place at work to take a quick nap!! Lol

What a wonderful place to go on a Friday evening! There is outdoor seating to listen and enjoy a live band that plays R&B. Afterwards, the DJ plays to the crowds delight, spinning old school R&B and the best reggae tunes, perfect for the grown and sexy. The restaurant is also open in the evening, serving a variety of Caribbean cuisine with a full bar. Indoor, there is karaoke and downstairs, a place for the younger crowd. Overall, I highly recommend De Real Ting Café as nice place to go and enjoy good vibes, good music, good food and good people.

Nice for a after work drink spot get a lil turnt up on a Friday night. But the Dj kinda sucks and a couple of the bartenders are rude and change prices of the drinks

So this is 1 star for the simply fact that the “security” doesn’t care about the people of Da Real Ting at all. I am taking my wife up the stairs, who obviously had too much to drink, and all they care about is pushing us off the property. I tried asking, “Hey, can I have my wife stand here (where security and police areso I can pull the car around.” All they do is push me to leave the property. So apparently they have no concern or care for anything but their paycheck.

A Friday night, I worked very late @ law office upstairs, I stopped in for a drink on the way out... during a festival! The gentlemen at the door were hilarious and made sure wine was on the menu for me at De Real Ting. The ladies inside were so sweet and I enjoyed watching the locals sing their karaoke songs 😁. I will be back to hang out!

The food was below average. The bartender said hookah was 30 bucks but when we arrived (after paying a 30 dollar entrance feethey said we owed an additional 50 dollars to have hookah. Absolutely clip joint, they will swindle you. Plenty of better places nearby, dont go here.

WORST JAMAICAN IN JACKSONVILLE!!!!! TOOK FOREVER...COST TO DAMN MUCH AND YOU GET ENOUGH MEAT TO FEED A BABY! FOH!!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Food was good and not overly seasoned we had the shrimp, rice and beans which were medium size shrimp and you got about 8-10 and a deep fried chicken dinner. . Not sure if every Friday but on this day they had a live street music event which was more on the sidewalk but had a great atmosphere. They had tall table couches and seating was like have a lounge club outside with great music. People dancing socializing and having fun. It was a nice time with folks vibing to the music with good food and drinks.

This place is De Real Ting! I eat Ox Tails on a regular and ordered from here at least 6 times this year and they never disappoint! I have ordered from others during the week when they are not available on the food delivery sites but all I can say is this place is Number One!

I went there on a Friday night to hear the live band which was really nice. The bad experience came in with the food. I ordered curry chicken and cabbage only. They gave me more bones than chicken and the cabbage tasted like cold slaw. It wasn’t cooked AT ALL. I advised the waitress of this, she went to get the chef and this lady tells me this is how Jamaicans cook their cabbage. Lady the cabbage isn’t cooked. Instead of taking the raw cabbage away and bringing some cabbage that was steamed she proceeded to say different places cook their cabbage different. You are right lady they do but this isn’t cooked. I will never order from that place again. The other ladies I was with couldn’t eat their cabbage either because it wasn’t DONE. I will definitely go back for the music but will bring in food from else where. That was my first and last time eating there.

Very very poor costumer service ,very rude bartenders ,lil bit of food for high prices liquor all ice lil drink for $25 no plantains they messed food up and no toilet paper in bathroom no live concert at all everyone rude very rude sucks never will come again

Discrimination at its finest. Tried to charge the people behind me $15 a person but my party $20/person. The woman at the door taking cover charge was rude as hell. Once we paid, they wanted $25 for a beer. Which is absolutely ridiculous. We walked out immediately because they obviously didn’t want our service & we will never be back. Trust me. Do not recommend, go 2 blocks down to dos gatos for the best service!

This place is only getting a 1-star because the food was amazing!! I ordered 10 wings and only received 6. The waitress made sure to get the other 4 to me! Other than that, my FIRST experience here was horrible. Staff is very rude.(My fiancé and I were attempting to get the bartenders attention and he kept blatantly ignoring us. After patiently waiting, I grew angry because it seemed as if he was assisting everyone else around us.. we finally got around to him and he told me that he was “purposely ignoring us”, “there are people ahead of y’all”. I told him that he was very rude, and he said “I’ll show you rude if you don’t hurry up and order” with a sarcastic attitude. All I’m saying is, As a “professional “ He could’ve informed us that “there’s others in front, he’ll be right with us” I do not mind waiting, instead of BLATANTLY ignoring others. I made sure to work with another lady bartender named Amanda. Very unprofessional as well! They both were joking/laughing about my situation.. Will NOT go again. Drinks are overpriced, $25.

My experience was horrible. The staff was very rude with the exception of Danielle. Everyone else was very unprofessional... The bar was empty and the food that was there temperatures were cold. When ask would they restock the bar we were given attitude and she returned with food that was still cold. Im very disappointed and will probably NEVER go back...

Its extremely delicious I had the brown stewed chicken and the oxtails with rice and peas cabbage and plantains. Also had 2 amazing beef patties! And 3 ginger beers!! I will be returning over and over again.

I went there for their Friday night karaoke and it was nice! Nice vibe and people were enjoying themselves. They also set up tables and sofas outside w/a DJ playing music. Nice Friday night scene!👍🏼

Real Island food, The staff is friendly, The atmosphere is calming and relaxing. The owner interacts will all the customers. My husband and I have been going here for over 13 years. Great Food, Great Drinks and the bread pudding and peach cobbler is to die for....

Real yard vibes on a Saturday night. Most fun I had in a minute. Cant really comment on all the food but had some wings and jerk chicken and that was amazing.

Amazing food ! Their signature dish, De Real Ting, is fall off the bone jerk chicken that is seasoned incredibly well. Chicken wings are bomb as well, the sauce is great and the wings are still crispy and delicious underneath.Beef and chicken patties are a must try as well, flaky buttery pastries with flavorful meat inside.I’ve never been disappointed by this restaurant.I’ll be coming back for more as long as I live in Jax.Also- if you’re feeling lazy but still wanna try some, they deliver w/ ubereats and the food is still 🔥 and the portions are perfect.Finally, this place gets lit af on weekend nights.

Please be careful with pricing, if you call about pricing please make sure to check again once you arrive. I made the mistake of not double checking before we ate. I only had $30 and I called to see how much it would cost for my 3 year old. I was told "He can eat from your plate." I figured that ment no cost, so if he was free I just knew my 1 year old was free. To me this ment enough for us to sit and eat, leave a tip, and gas in the car. Apparently I was was extremely wrong 😕. I had 3 bucks left for gas and wasnt able to leave a tip, so I felt bad. $12 for me, $8 for a 3 year old, and $5 for a 1 year old. If Id known I wouldnt have stayed, I was trying g to make our last, last. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Just be careful the food is good just not a place ment for kids if you dont t have it and they barely eat anything.🤦🏽‍♀️

Thursday nights....open mic night!! Loved it so much and they have 3 for $9 wells. The food is delicious. The host and dj for Thursdays are hilarious and kept me laughing. Loved it so much.

I went there today to have a business lunch. It was 1pm the buffet was empty. We had rice with gravy because it was the only thing available. I asked the waitress when was the buffet going to be restocked she said there working on it now. After another 15 to 20 I asked again and was told its coming. Long story short 30 mins my business guest was full on rice and cornbread. I was able to eat chicken and greens 1 hour later. They never restocked. Charged me full price for 3 guest and said they had to charge me per the owner. They laughed and went on to serve carry out meals to waiting customers. I also notice spoons used by customers was in the gravy and pans if they would have had food in them Pure Germs, filthy !!!!

Always been a returning customer and always will be. I have SPENT PLENTY OF NIGHT IN THEIR CLUB but I just recently have been going for lunch and let me just say I cant stop going back. Great lunch deals,quality food, big portions,fresh,home feel. MANGO TEA IS SO GOOD. I will always be in club but it seems like I am always going to be there for lunch now to... ITS DA REAL TING

Got delivery, food wasn’t bad. Dinner was supposed to come with a roll and did not. Paid extra for all white meat; they were completely out and did not refund extra cost. Meal tasted good but was pretty dry.

It was pretty good and the portions were ample. It cost $9.00 plus tax. Not bad. Some of the ladies just had drinks but one of the ladies in my group had the Ox Tails and Macaroni and Cheese, which looked really good, it cost a little more than what I paid around $14-15. We enjoyed the music, danced a little and had more drinks. We had a fun time and I will probably come back next time I visit Jax, maybe during the daytime to enjoy the full buffet.

Visited this spot on a recommendation from someone in the area and we had a great time! The DJs played a variety of old and new songs and kept the dance floor packed! Great food and the drinks were reasonably priced! If youre looking for an island party, look no further!

Decent reggae spot. Ladies in for $10. They close pretty late around 3:30-4ish compared to 2am closing time for Jacksonville clubs. The crowd is mixed with Jamaican and American. Mostly black people go there. I went on a Friday and also Saturday more people go on a Saturday on Friday it was not as packed. People are allowed to smoke in the club. The club is pretty big with a nice dance floor. People start to dance once crowd gets packed.

Ive tried this place maybe 2-3 times now. I try to give it the benefit of the doubt on Friday or Saturday nights. However, the woman who collects money at the door is INCREDIBLY rude. Ive seen and experienced her be abrupt, rude, condescending, and just all around inconsiderate at the door. I understand the job requires a backbone and to be firm with people, but there is just no need for her level of rudeness, especially when customers are polite to her! I have seen the other men who work alongside her apologize for her rudeness. I will not be returning to this place again nor will I ever recommend it to anyone.

Best place to go on a Saturday night if youre looking for authentic reggae music! Friday night is awesome as well; its more Hip-Hop though. However, the reggaeton vibe NEVER leaves!!! They now have a VIP section if you wanna grab a bottle and chill.

I made the correct (or wrongchoice to stop in during a lunch buffet, which was both good and bad because it showed me all the place has to offer in terms of its food, but also led me into a situation where I had to try it all and that means eating too much! The staff werent as friendly as I would have expected, but the place was fine otherwise. It was nice having some Caribbean food while I visited Jax.

Last night was my first time at this club and it was really nice! The club was super packed and the food was amazing! The jerk chicken dinner was absolutely amazing and the whole place just makes you feel like your actually in jamaica! Im in Jacksonville FL visiting friends and I cant wait to come back and visit " De Real Ting " again and more times! I Love this club!
