Dawat - Indian restaurant in Mexico City, Mexico
Dawat in Mexico City
Description
Privilege
The best Indian food that I have had in Mexico. Only downsides is the couple of times I got raw chicken. Which is why I dont give it 5 stars. Lots of vegetarian options. Very delicious. Wish they wouldnt be so stingy with the green chutney. If they got some lemon pickle theyd be near perfect. Except for the raw chicken. I live in the neighborhood and order regularly
MoreWonderful Indian restaurant.Definitely try the Vegetarian Thali.Subzi, Roti and Dhal good taste. Good service !!
MoreBest indian cuisine in mexico city by far. Attentive staff and DELICIOUS food hands down. If you are from out of town you must definitely try.
MoreDelicious and flavorful. Chicken Tikka Masala was a standout. Definitely recommend.
MoreThe food tasted good. For two people we paid £42.00 GBP including starters so affordable. Only downside one of us had the Delhi Belly 8 hours later after the meal. They had a dish with diary product. Was it the diary product?Service was good and professional. Surrounding was nice and spacious.I would go again but would avoid diary.
MoreBeautiful and clean place, nice people and service. I just tasted the Rasmalai which is one of my favorite indian sweets, it was hard and cold, compared to the rasmalai I tasted in india, but it was decent, the price was high though. But I guess for Indian food out of India it is ok.
MoreAs an Indori: Ek Number Khana. US ke restaurants fail hai bhai iske aage!We are basically from Indore and thought to visit Dawat cuisine based on recommendation. We were surprised to see an elaborative menu at first glance. We received excellent hospitality and unbeatable flavors that reminded us of India. We ordered speciality dish off the course Lahsuni paneer tikka and pudhina cutlet as our appetizers which were honestly excellent. The main course is indeed mouth watering. Veg Jalfraizi, Onion kulcha, laccha paratha and garlic naan are something to relish for. A must visit in Mexico City.
MoreVery clean and neat place , tasty food , little pricy but for the quality they give its ok .
MoreExcellent. Authentic taste. Strongly recommend for Indian food
Excellent Indian food and nice and Authentic North Indian flavor
Ordered a lot of food for just myself. The thali was a good portion. The dal fry was the best along with aloo parantha. Vegetarian friendly!
MoreYou will arrive at the right place if you want to tickle your taste buds with Indian food away from India. It is as close to Indian food it can be outside India considering difference in vegetables taste and dairy products. I got the chance to speak to the owner, who know Spanish, English and Hindi and the chef too. You will already get to know by look and taste if the dishes you order but just to mention all the kitchen staff is desi Indian. As I was hungry I order veg Thali and it was treat to my stomach and my eyes. Do pay a visit atleast once if you are around Mexico City. Worth it!!
MoreA really good Indian restaurant in the heart of Mexico City. You will find authentic Indian taste in food serve here. I must say try Mango Lassi for drink.
MoreI don’t have any reference for Indian restaurant in Mexico, it was my first time to try Indian food in Mexico. So rating is not easy. The vibe of the restaurant is big and empty. You don’t feel warm and cozy. We tried Pulak paneer and Prawn beryani for our main course. The beryani was nice and tasty but Pulak Paneer was so far from my serveral past experiences in different countries (including India)The service is not the fastest you can find in Mexico but the staff are nice and friendly
MoreWe had been served nice North Indian food to our choice in the Menu Card, at the heart of Mexico city. The taste and the quantity was quite good . So was the quality of service. But the ambiance and the decor was not representative of our culture. Indian cuisine covers a wide geographical and chronological area. They could have focusssed on a particular region or even a particular era of Indian history when selecting artwork, colors and uniforms and avoided cheap cliches.
MoreGem of a place!!I ordered food at this restaurant @Polanco through Uber eats. Food definitely lived up to the expectations. Chicken biryani is very tasty with right amount of spice. chicken is juicy and tasty. I saw that their menu on Uber eats doesnt have chai. I am glad I called the restaurant directly to check if they have it.Owner was super sweet and helpful. He said its available and suggested to order lassi and write in instructions to swap it with chai. :)Masala chai was authentic and amazinggggg. I am definitely going to try their other items on the menu.If you are in the area and craving for Indian food, definitely give it a try.
MoreIncredibly good Indian food. I was very impressed. We tried three curries, they all tasted fresh and very flavorful. The breads were also great
MoreGreat food! Went there with family for an early (for Mexicolunch. We ordered a lot of food and will be going back. Our favorite things were the chicken Tikka, butter chicken and the palak paneer. The veg samosas and garlic naan were also not bad.
MoreTerrible small portion for the price. Flavor was ok, nothing great. Soggy Nan, rice has to be ordered separately. Surprised, since most food is good in this Country.
MoreNever have the wine from the menu. Always bring 3 bottles to table which of course are very expensive.
MoreNice taste. Naan is prepared well. Service can be faster.
It was awesome Indian food. I am from Delhi, India and have tasted food at some great Indian restaurants. This was as good as the restaurants in Delhi. I highly recommend it.
MoreI went to Dawat WTC in Napoles. Even though the food is good, i leave one star because of excessive salt. i had to drink a few liters of water afterwards because of intense thirst. and even if the restaurant was empty there was not enough attention to the table, i had to get up constantly to remove my menu , used plates, pull the sauces closer which they left out of reach etc. also i ordered a dish and they gave me another one and they would not change it, assuring me that is what i ordered. i lived in india for 2 years, i know my indian food. but i let it go. for a local, the prices are high, it was almost 800 pesos per person, having a drink and a dish and sharing an appetizer, rice, and 1 bread. the fish was above 300 pesos. i do recommend it . i just would like less salt and better service.
MoreGreat Indian food at an affordable price. Not the best butter tikka masala I’ve had, but for Mexico City you cannot find much better. Naan bread was not very good. Soggy and not fluffy like traditional naan bread should be.
MoreThis was my 2nd visit for dinner and they didnt disappoint. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was pretty good.
MorePaneer curries were incredibly good and generous portions, good Indian bread, house red wine was fine, though wouldn’t recommend the pakora for starters (strange choice of veg and not as crispy and delicious as we would expect). Kind and attentive staff.
MoreI wish I could give negative five stars. I am new to Mexico, and staying only for a couple of days. I ordered malai kofta and paneer makhni. The dishes were extremely salty. It felt like drinking water out of the sea. I called the restaurant and asked them to send replacement dishes. The staff put me on hold for over 30 minutes, and when I called them back, the guy was extremely rude, and hung up in the middle of the conversation. Next time I am in Mexico City, never ordering food from this place.
MoreAmazing Indian cuisines in Mexico City. Authentic taste and great staff. Enjoyed our visit here.
MoreAbsolutely delicious samosas and they can veganize the vegetarian thali, wonderful staff and friendly service ❤️❤️❤️
MoreGood food. They have a good selection of Indian food, including seafood options. The prices are not low by the standards of Mexico City food, but its average when it comes to Indian food. Service is generally good, and the speed was fine (I waited for my biryani for around 15 minutes, freshly cooked). Definitely one of the better Indian restaurants in Mexico.
MoreBest Indian food Quality, vegetarian thali also available there ,food is too tasty
MoreWe have been in Mexico for over a month and had been craving a proper Indian curry. This place didn’t disappoint! The drinks and service was fast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was freshly made and came in large portions which really filled us up.They have lots of options, we would highly recommend. We went for early dinner around 4pm so it was just us and another group.
MoreThere were some cool pictures decorating the walls. Most of the food I ordered was tasty. However, the malai kofta balls could have been tastier and please avoid the rasmalai. The ambience can be improved by adding a bit of Mexican touch - like plants and decorations in the seating areas.
MoreWe had to stay for 2 days at Mexico city and were in serious search of authentic veg indian food. Bang! We got this one and the food was just so fabulous and super tasty. Thanks a lot for such yummy indian food.
MoreThe food was great. I recommend it. Authentic Indian food. A bit expensive.
We ordered chicken biryani, Dahl fry, bindi masala, and a mango lassi. Everything was very delicious and the portion sizes left us enough for meal number two. Highly recommend!
MoreTasty food. Authentic Indian. Surprisingly finding this in Mexico City. A sort of home away from home. Reasonably priced.
MoreGreat service and food was on spot. Drinks are a bit pricey but it’s understandable due to its location in Polanco. The seasoning on the food is authentic. I definitely recommend this restaurant to any foodies looking for great Indian taste.
MoreWe went on a Monday night for dinner and we were the only customers at that time.Location across from Hospital Español and close to the Indian embassy. Nice ambience, elegant decorations, no loud music. Good hygiene measures anti-Covid.... table distancing, staff wearing masks, no touch menu ( QR codes only, take your mobile to view the menu , there is free wifiand plastic wrapped cutlery set. The service was attentive and quick. The food tasted good. Portion sizes are moderate. The mango lassi was well made, the glasses a bit smaller than my expectation. We ordered only vegetarian dishes and I cannot comment on the meat items. The prices are on the expensive side but eating at restaurant costs about 25% lesser than ordering home delivery. The paneer dishes are prepared with queso panela, not paneer. The garlic naan and kulchas were nice but the tandoori roti not so much. The brass washbasins were beautiful, it was a pleasure to wash hands. There was underground paid parking immediately next door but we found free street parking easily on the Anatole France street nearby.
MoreGood place to have some good Indian food. Tandoori dishes were top notch. Will definitely come back for some more.
MoreWe visited this restaurant during our stay in Mexico. Super impressed by the delicious Indian food. We hit this restaurant straight for 4 days. Primarily tried vegetarian food and its was amazing. The servers and cook are super nice. One day we had specific requests on how we wanted the food to be made, the chef got in touch and aligned his cooking to our needs. Thank you!Place is clean and they recently moved to new site. Not to miss this if you are in Mexico city and craving for India food! Go Dawat
MoreWe tried the vegetarian thali and it was very nice. We had requested for spicy curries and they had made it accordingly. The curries were is little oily but overall wonderful food.
MoreThe food was amazing. I love it. I found chaaz a little bit to salad, but that is just a personal taste. The mango lasso tasted delicious. Although it seem like weve ordered too little We didnt finished it. The waiter was really nice.
MoreExcellent food. Really surprised by authentic test. I ordered veg. Thali, quantity is good enough for 1 person. Definitely recommend for real Indian test.
MoreLooking at the good reviews I was a little excited to go here and try it out but I immediately regretted it. The food just wasnt good. I would actually say it was the worst "Indian" food I ever had and Ive had some bad examples of Indian food over the years. The only positive was that the service was decent. I would definitely not recommend this place.
MoreGood environment! But taste is not up to the mark to taste Indian food! 😉
My Friend from India take me here, he told me thst the food is very good almost as in India. So Recomended. I really like the lady finger mus try.
MoreIts good but a bit expensive.. the ambience is Indian which I liked alot.. the customer service is satisfactory.. food was delicious.. didn’t like the biryani though.. lassi was tasty.
MoreI came with an Indian friend, so I believe his comments would be more realistics. He said it was excellent, flavor as a real indian food. Service was slow but kind. So if you want to try Indian food, this is the correct place.
MoreA nice restaurant and excellent service had a great meal here with 12 friends, who also had a great time. A little pricey for Mexico City but it is probably one of the best Indian restaurants around.
