This Hotel is AMAZING, walking distance from everything Jerusalem. 5 min stroll to the new Jaffa Gate through the nicest part of Jerusalem city. We met so many awesome people along the way Luai Siniora (this guy was my wifes favorite, he took such good care of usSamer, Yazan (the Espresso King), Ata (world class waiterand Avi (the omelet and egg Grand Master). If you go to Isreal and visit Jerusalem than you have to stay at this hotel. Game changer.
I am well known as the guy go and visit lots of restaurants but when I stayed at this hotel I got one of the best breakfast that I ever had in my life. We had a variety of fruits, breads, desserts, coffees and everything was delicious. I am giving five stars for and compliant for the chef.
The first thing I remember of visiting this hotel was the smile of in the entrance and then itโs continued with the friendliness of the staff especially the receptionist and the people in the concierge were super cool. It is well known that the Israelis are super warm and thatโs exactly what weโve got! Good vibes, great atmosphere and quality people.
It was an amazing week visiting the hotel. The room was super clean and the staff were super friendly and I had an honor to be with my family and to spend time in Jerusalem which I love the most and everything was so perfect and I have no doubt that I will come back!
When I picked this holiday I found it online and I am super proud of my staying at this hotel! The service was great and when I talked to the hotel crewI got everything I needed in a second. From towels, snicker bars and drinks.
Itโs been over 15 years and The David Citadel continues to be a favorite of mine. The service is incredible, particularly familiar faces at breakfast like Said who makes sure me and my family have everything we might need and always with a smile. The food is excellent, pool is great, amazing playroom for kids. Look forward to returning many more times in the future.
AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!Hotel is generally overrated, but location is very good. The horrific part is the Theft that is going on at this hotel. Cleaning crew stole money from my room. The next day I set a trap and left a small amount of money, this time in a small bag on the desk when leaving for the day. Returned to room and money was gone! Reported to security who said they take theft seriously and I would be notified of their investigation. Heard nothing a month later so reached out. They then respond that they were still investigating. A few days later received email saying no money was stolen. Simply WOW! My wife felt violated that someone touched her bag and stole from our private room.I Always stay at the Waldorf, but traveled with some families that happened to book at Citadel. I will never stay here again and neither will the families that we traveled with. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Waldorf a few hundred yards away - it is way nicer and no systemic theft rampant in hotel.
Street cross walk to mamila mall, city center, and of you are seeking history, you have the independence park, mamila cemetery, and the walls of the old city, also the diversity of the religious population. You can find shops, souvenirs and restaurants, very interesting.
Amazing location, very friendly staff, clean, beautifully appointed and kid-friendly.
We had a problem with our room, and management went out of their way to satisy us. 5 stars in every way.
Great location, great service, friendly staff that go above and beyond. Great pool!
We had adjoining rooms facing the pool and the view was absolutely spectacular. The room was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. A hair dryer was provided, along with USB outlets for those of us that forgot our outlet converters. The staff was friendly, with the concierge even taking the time to walk us to a place of his recommendation, which we enjoyed very much. The food at breakfast and by the pool was delicious, drinks were tasty, and overall we enjoyed it very much.
We stayed at citadel back in February. We live in Jerusalem but wanted to get away for the night. It was a perfect getaway. Room was clean and comfy. Pool and gym were great. And the breakfast! Oh, the breakfast! It was so good. An amazing array of so much deliciousness and the waiter service was superb. They even drew pictures and our names in the milk foam of the lattes. They were so attentive and providing. Speaking of service, I was blown away before I even got there. I called the night before to confirm my reservation and check that we were all set. The guest relations rep that I spoke to, Carren, was the most inviting and warmest service person I think I have ever spoken to in any establishment. She expressed so much excitement for our little getaway. When I told her it was our anniversary she got even more excited for us. She told me she would arrange for a special treat and champagne to be sent up. She also graciously offered us early check in. When we got there the check in agent, whose name i forgot, also was very very nice. He upgraded us and took his time going through all the available rooms to find the one we would enjoy the most. He told us the room he gave us had a great view plus the most sun on the porch in the afternoon. He was right. Then by breakfast, we were approached by none other than Carren herself. She introduced herself and asked how our stay was going. We ended up having the most wonderful conversation for almost a half-hour! She was just wonderful. Then as we were leaving breakfast she came back to us and informed us that she had given us another three hours of late check out so we can enjoy a little vacation just a bit more. Her graciousness, ability to connect with people and ability to perceive their needs is unsurpassed. The Breakfast was so good that we went this week again just for breakfast. They didnt disappoint, once again. Thank you Citadel and Thank you Carren.
Beautiful hotel located right by the old city. Comfortable well-appointed rooms feel warm and inviting. Responsive staff, an amazing buffet breakfast daily, lovely pool.
I stayed here w a small group of Iowans back in 2019 - just stumbled across this site now and cant resist singing the praises of the hotel. It was an incredible experience for all of us - by far the nicest hotel most of us had ever stayed. It was beautiful, w a fabulous pool and a great breakfast, and we were so close to all of the amazing religious landmarks. The entire trip was unforgettable and the hotel fit right in.
Best hotel we ever stayed in Israel. Loved the scenic views from the Old City. Great service, awesome atmosphere and hospitality. Friendly and polite staff, best service we ever got in Israel. Very clean amenities.. Loved the room service, food is excellent. Definitely coming back to stay a little longer at this hotel when we return to Israel next year.
Not only a true 5 Star Hotel. But also a short stroll into the Old City. A truly wonderful place to stay and explore Jerusalem by footPricelessGym, full Spa
Comfortable rooms, good service, but, many of the workers here dont speak Hebrew OR English.
Western-style hotel with large open lobby and conference facilities. Food was ok and room was clean. However, the mattress is HARD and there was construction going on all night along directly across the alleyway. Power saw was whining and hammer/axe was banging from 1am on until 6am. When we told front desk about this at checkout, 5hey acted surprised like they had not heard it themselves. Unlikely to return.
This was my first visit to Jerusalem and the David Citadel Hotel. The staff is so kind, courteous, helpful and accommodating. Said and other servers are great! In the morning, Said has always been energetic and kind while bringing us what we need. The hotel is wonderful and in a great location. Walking distance to the old city and shops. The food is AMAZING.I canโt say enough about David Citadel. I would highly recommend it.
Super hotel, beautiful rooms with every amenities. Great breakfast great location
Amazing hotel. All the details were great ... from the size of the fluffy bath towels, the coffee machine in the room, I really cannot find fault. And the food was amazing. Delicious and plentiful.
I got married in this hotel. Its a beautiful place with a great swimming pool and views. And the newlyweds suite is amazing
This was my second time staying in the Citadel. Everything about this hotel is amazing! Rooms are clean and spacious, and the staff are warm and welcoming! Breakfast is out of this world! Shout out to Said for always serving the best coffee and orange juice and getting whatever we needed! The hotel is in a great location and easily accessible to the train. Definitely would recommend!
What an absolutely amazing experience! Everything about this hotel was so over the top. The rooms were amazing and beds were sooo comfortable. The food was unlike anything I have experienced. There was a huge variety at both breakfast and dinner and everything was tasty and fresh. The front desk and concierge desk responded quickly to all requests within minutes. Room service was good and fast as well.If I return to Jerusalem I will certainly be staying here again!
Really nice rooms and amazing service from all the staff! Special shout-out to Said who served us wonderfully at breakfast and made delicious ice coffees.
Years ago I would rate this 5 star, I was just here again and the quality, luxery, lavishness and service, dropped dramatically,The building is nice but not up to 2022 standards, its not "FRESH"For starters I took out a junior suite,The room was freezing when I got in, everything was freezing, the sheets, couches, I had to sit in my jacket for 15min to wait fhe the room warm up,Theres no mini bars in any of the rooms.Mattress and pillows are 2 star,Good bathrooms, strong water pressure and nice size tub.Thats about it.
Nice fancy rooms, good view from the rooms with a balcony, amazing location and breakfast is great. But does it worth the money they are asking for the stay? I dont think so. And they even ask you to pay for the hotel parking while youre staying, and charging a higher rate than the parking lots across the street.
Very good hotel. Wonderful pool--outdoor, but warm enough to swim. Food was excellent, but serving utensils were totally missing or not appropriate for the specific dishes. We have been many times and it has kept up its quality.
Service was great overall. The lobby room service menu is a bit lacking, but Breakfast buffet is amazing.Concierge employees are top notch.Enjoyed my stay very much.
A disaster !I strongly advise against this hotel.Catastrophic service like many hotels in Israel. But this is really the worst that can exist! The rooms are not clean, the sheets smell bad, the food is really bad.The hotel night costs on average 2000 shekel .. Shameful! For the record, I booked for my wedding night in this hotel. My brother booked me a massage for my wife and myself, which unfortunately we could not do.So we went down to the SPA to cancel it before the time of the treatment and they charged us penalties ...Disgusting
Difficult to adequately describe how nice this hotel is. The staff and service is first rate and the hotel itself is magnificent. This is our first time at the CItadel but plan to return here again and again !
Hotel room and porch was dirty and dusty. Not so 5* if you asked me.Also service was at a minimum, check out took 2 hours. Elevator to parking (no valetbroken with no help offered.
Great expirience. Very luxury, great stuff. Very clean and maintained. Food is also top shelf and its covid safe hotel. Also,if you a wine lover, and like to have the best mediteranian wine expirience, ask for the hotel sommelier efi kotz and let him do the rest.We will be back soon
One of the greatest hotels in Israel in general and in Jerusalem particularly. Rooms are big and clean! Breakfast is so accurate! Food is fresh and the variety is super great! Our experience in the pool zone will be remembered as the hotels calming and quiet zone (dont know how they did it as there were more than a few families with small kids). But on top of everything comes the Service! Reserving a room was a bit challenging at start, due to covid19 restrictions. Having Manuel guiding us all the way, being there for any question/issue through the stay, it actually made this stay one of the best. So thank you David Citadel for a great vacation, a great vfm (value for moneyand for providing your guests the best stuff! As long as youll want us, we will surely come back :)
Super nice hotel, the location is everything!I didnโt put the 5 stars because the food is not excellent for lunch, and very expensive. We were there on a Saturday so didnโt have much choice and even there they would serve any hot dishes, only salads or sandwiches. The pool is great, the service also!
Who doesnt love this place! The service is at a great level, the rooms are beautiful, the view of the old city is insane. The pool was a little packed but still nice. Shabbat food was great! Amazing breakfast considering it is kosher for shabbat. Shabbat elevators are 2 out of 4. They are very shabbat friendly.I would improve: mattress comfort and shabbat closet lighting.
We are a couple with a baby, and we came to celebrate my wifeโs birthday.5 stars look alike, but missing the real thing to make you enjoy it.Why not:- the pool is nice but it felt like you are expected to work, no staff to take care of things related to the hotel.- people are SMOKING next to the infants pool and you as a guest should confront them and ask them not to smoke (itโs forbidden by law).- you canโt get food to your place at the pool.- the umbrellas (that are being opened by the guests (no one to take care of itfell twice next to us until we decided to move since its just too dangerous.- and last, every time I called the guest service they were just unpleasant to talk to. They gave the answers but spoke very disrespectful and with 0 patience. The good things (the reason for the 2nd star):- The hotelโs lobby is nice and clean.- We got a room with double bad, while explicitly asking for a king size (not separatedtwice - thats the bad part. But after seeing the room and asking the manager to replace it they provided us a room with a king size bad.- we got a cake and champagne for my wifeโs birthday
Lovely hotel. Perfectly located. Decent pool. Impressive new kids room.Biggest downside was the Friday night rip off dinner. 400/adult 300/kid. But the buffet food menu hasnโt changed in years. One station cutting dry veal. Lamb was 80pc fat. V unimpressed
Really 5 stars hotel. Not cheap but totaly worth the money. Our 2 boys were amazed from the kids playroom. The pool was at the right temperatur, at the breakfast all the employees were doing their best, and it seems that they were all trying not to use the NO word. I recomend to add more alcohol choices at the pool menu, also the abbility to buy suns cream that we forgot. Special thanks to Samir from the restaurant
We arrived to celebrate a birthday that on the 1.7What a mistake was to come on these dates. The lobby was full of children that runs and screams, unbearable noise in all areas of the hotel, in the corridors, stairs, we did not dare to visit the pool that was exactly like a low class public pool, tell me more about your "luxury hotel".Not to mention the dining room experience, kids threw food items at each other and drop and break glasses and plates. The older people also decided to behave very similarly and felt the need to check every loaf of bread by hand, like every low cost grocery store.Again, the unbearable noise in every corner of the hotel, screams and shouts, from the staff and guests.A month before the visit, I called to schedule a massage on the visit date. The day before, the representative from the spa "Akasha" called me and informed me that they dont have any free therapist on this dates because she is "abroad".The receptionist laughed at me when I called one month in advance, even a year in advance wouldnt help with their lack of caring and chaos. The room was outdated and falling apart, the air conditioner was making noises all night.A single elevator that functions as a Sabbath elevator going down to the parking lot, summed up our trip with 3-story descent on foot with our luggage.A "luxury hotel" that does not embarrass any low grade country club.
We arrived at the hotel with high expectations driven by its positioning and high price. We wanted a luxurious experience and were willing to pay for it. Eventually, expectations were not fully met, the entire experience was lacking, there is something tired in the hotel and staff. A loud wedding near the pool prevented us from resting. The TV didnt work and had to be replaced. The replaced TV also didnt work well ... in breakfast (delicious foodwe gave up on coffee after asking twice. When you ask for 560$ per night, you should deliver accordingly. you did not.
Stayed at the hotel during Covid. Hotel is beautiful as always. Food was good and while some of the service is good, many waiters are just not there working when they should be. Managing to get a coffee or any other thing at the main restaurant can be a daunting task, especially when the older personnel is absent. No one is trying to offer service, waiters seem to prefer to walk the room the fastest they can, avoiding to look around, and disappear for 10 minutes, come back, and do the same over and over. When you finally ask, their answer is between: ยซย go get it yourselfย ยป, to ยซย yes sure Iโm comingย ยป (prepare for a long wait), or just ignoring you completely (if a kid is asking). I overheard a conversation (loud and in a public areaof a waiter trying to hook up with a new colleague. It seems some personnel feel a little bit too at home to perform professionally.Cleaning is not at par, the room service leaves its carriage, a hoover, dirty towels and dirty breakfast plates in the middle of the hall for most of the day. There are areas that are visibly not cleaned properly, while the perfume they put could make you think the opposite. Cleaning in the rooms is also obviously not checked well, and many things are forgotten. You should bring back your managers and send some secret customers to get things on track before more clients get a mediocre experience.
Had a great stay at the Citadel. Anyone looking to travel to Israel knows that this hotel offers an incredibly comfortable and beautiful space. The true highlight of the hotel though, is the staff working there. Whenever given an opportunity the staff made our stay unforgettable. Special shoutout to Eviatar who was always especially friendly and helpful!
๎ขStaying in this hotel is an unbelievably wonderful experience. Everything is first class. Rooms are amazing, staff is friendly and welcoming, helpful and kind. Food is very very good and delicious. This hotel is a stoneโs throw away from the old city of Jerusalem and I would recommend it highly
The view with the full moon was breathtaking. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were professional. This should be your hotel if you are looking for a five star experience in Jerusalem. It is not the 1960โs gem of the King David that (sadlyneeds a renovation - it is the hotel to stay in for 2019. If you canโt swing the room rates you, you will be welcomed at the restaurant which has amazing views.
I have stayed here over 40 times, usually for 2 weeks at a time while doing business in Jerusalem and I can absolutely say that this place is quite fantastic. Service is great, rooms are very nice, dining options are great, and the place is very nice. Perhaps the best part about this hotel is its location, very close to the old city as well as downtown so it is easy to walk to many dining spots or the old city. The prices are high but this is a luxury hotel with fantastic views, fantastic amenities, top quality service, great dining options, and probably the best location in Jerusalem.

The hotel is close to the famous King David Hotel and close to Mamilla Mall. Nearby the mall there are a number of gardens in the Mamilla garden as well as Independence Park. A few minutes walk from the mall you can reach the Tower of David and the Jaffa Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Fantastic luxury hotel in the heart of Jerusalem. Rooms are a bit small but very modern and comfortable. Showers were amazing, bed very comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great and the staff there was very good when it came to service. I would definitely stay here again next time Im in the area. Very close to the western wall and old city also which was a plus
An upscale high class luxury hotel for those who can afford it. The locals who arent even staying at the hotel pay to enter the swimming pool. The hotel is a tall building with magnificent views of Jerusalem from every window. The hotel is also conveniently located near the light rail which is extremely useful. The spa and the gym are simply cherries on top of this lovely romantic hotel.
