Great place to explore the early days of the railway in Manitoba

This museum is located in the same building as the via rail on the CNR rail line.The museum is quite nice with a lot of small treasures linking Dauphin to its past.The model train set is really well done.You can spand as much or as little time there.Staff is very friendlyGo and enjoy it :)

Great little museum. Love the large model railway that they built - includes hilly regions and city areas - really well designed. Lots of historical information on the northern railway routes. We had a great time and would recommend stopping in if you are in the Dauphin area. Thanks

Incredible experience learning about the history of how Canada was built - by rail. The president of the museum personally showed us some of the exhibits, including a huge diorama of Dauphin with moving model trains! The kids loved it and Id recommend this museum to everyone.

Wish the train were more viable in terms of timelines and this station is a gem. Just a sad reminder of what could have been in this country with rail 😤.

I caught the train to Wpg from here. It was late. It was worth the wait. But it seems that the via is reserved as a novelty form of travel in this country as you can not plan to make connections with a train thats arriving four hours late.

All that has been said by other reviewers I wholeheartedly support, and there is a small library of archived videos the staff are only too pleased to put on the tv. For interested visitors the Round House and turntable featured in the model railway can be viewed for real, a short walk from the station, behind Fort Vermilion, another interesting historical venue.

The museum is small but contains lot of interesting information about the history of rail in Manitoba. The staff member that was there when we visited was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable!

Great little museum that describes Dauphins railway history through a collection of pictures, artifacts and other information. There is a wonderfully detailed model railway that shows Dauphin as it was in the 50s. As a bonus, it is situated in the citys historic railway station where VIA trains stop.

A large collection of railway memorabilia, very well-organized, and knowledgeable enthusiastic guides. The collection could use a larger space to showcase it better.

This is one little museum that is packed with local railroad history.
