I’m so excited they’ve reopened! Small menus filled with surprise. We found Daughters when I was craving some beignets and were pleasantly surprised. Each plate comes with beautiful seasonal fruit and is so much more than we can ever eat in one sitting. Omelettes are to die for. The cute yard is fun to have the kids play outside while you sip coffee and wait for your food. There’s a house cat who wanders around and adds to the personality of the cafe. Don’t pass this one up. And when you’re done, walk it off along the river.

This is a charming little cafe with very amiable staff and great food. Their brunch plates are quite stuffed, and their lattes and special coffees are also packed, proving quite a lot at the rationale price the menu hosts.

Many people have recommended Daughters Cafe to me and after having gone, I certainly can see why. My family and I went for breakfast and were all delighted by our experience. I first noted the warm and welcoming dining area, it was small but not crowded. We were welcomed with smiles and everyone was super friendly. The menu was small but had a variety of options, I decided on the Dutch Baby with sausage and the rest of the family went with the beignets. This was the first time I have tried a Dutch Baby so I have nothing else to compare it to but I found it to be very delicious. It was accompanied by fresh fruit and some of the best sausage I have ever eaten. My family thoroughly enjoyed their beignets and sausage, again they were accompanied by fresh fruits. We also enjoyed very rich and delicious cups of hot chocolate. To everyone who recommended Daughters, I thank you, and I eagerly recommend it to anyone who has not been.

The owner is really friendly and so was the waitress. I got a French toast combo and it came with apple crumble syrup which I loved and im Canadian and we love our syrup. They also had a cat that wondered around for attention and I love cats. The owner even came out and asked if anyone else wanted more sausage and they were delicious.

Food was amazing. Great portions with lots of fresh fruit. Service was good and the ambiance was nice. We arrived at 9 when they opened and sat on a beautiful hedged in patio. One star lost because there were no child portion options and no bacon. The sausage was great, but its not bacon.

Daughters is the type of place for which you wish there was one extra star that you could throw onto your rating. The location is walkable, quaint, and just fun, being a in a large, red, two-story, early twentieth-century home. Seat yourself, just make sure the small crew know you have arrived, especially if you sit outside, which is more than worth it on a sunny Reno day.Food...the beignets were phenomenal. My eyes closed and rolled back in my head on first bite. They were packed with so much delicately sweet flavor and doughiness that I could do nothing other than savor. The sausages alongside were cooked to perfection and the fresh fruit that seems to come standard with every entree was of a refreshing and out-of-the-ordinary variety. The omelette achieved the same effect as the first dish. Packed with goat cheese, apple, and walnuts, the egg itself was fluffy, delicate, and savory...a truly nice break from the typical American style omelette served almost literally everywhere else.I would say if you are visiting Reno and spending any time downtown, put a walk to Daughters on your must-do list. Walk over to blocks and grab some some coffee at Hub after before afternoon exploring. Cheers

I dont like to give bad reviews and this review is not for any reason other than the food and menu was not very tasty. I see a lot of comments regarding poor service, but this was not my experience, the service was good. This is about the food. There was a very limited menu so I ordered the most "normal" item I could find, an omelet. It consisted of souffle egg that was brown, walnuts, and cooked goat cheese that was not a good combo. My hubby had french toast and it was basically fried bread with butter ( no syrupand a mush of apple something?...first bite said it all. We ate most of it only because we didnt want to offend the staff. We left not too hungry but not satisfied at all. We really wanted to like this place and cant understand why the reviews were so high on Yelp. Id hate to say it but it was the worst breakfast I have ever had...sorry :(

Horrible service. We waited for 20 minutes to get menus. When we went to order they said it would be 30 minutes before we could order. They didnt tell us when we sat down itd be an hour wait. I watched five different tables leave because the service was so bad. When I asked if they thought it was appropriate to make people wait 20 minutes before even telling them they couldnt order, I was asked to leave. I was anyways but thats how they treat their customers. Quite disappointing as I hear the food is good. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. The lack of customer service is astounding, I never had that bad of service before in my life.

Located in a cozy but not cramped home, with a Victorian interior, in a location convenient to downtown activities. The menu varies somewhat seasonally, with classics throughout the year.Started with the salted caramel hot chocolate, which was perfect. Distinctly pronounced flavors, but so smooth! For lunch, I had the Paprikash, and it was outstanding. Creamy and buttery, with perfectly seasoned meat and dumplings. It was like the ultimate comfort dish.I bought some more and took it back to my co-workers. Well be going back soon. : )We enjoyed a brief visit with Barb, who explained her making-everything-from-scratch philosophy. This explains the amazing flavors. All in all, a completely delicious meal. Highly recommended!

Save yourself the disappointment. Owner is a rude and hateful woman. My husband and I came here for our anniversary to have brunch. We waited over half an hour for service at our patio table even though other tables were being greeted. My husband got up and went inside to seek assistance and the owner came outside and asked him “what do you want”. Just like that and then went back inside. When she did finally come over to greet us (by now it was well over 45 minutes of waitingI asked her to apologize to my husband for her rude acknowledgment of our presence. The owner herself responded with “there are other places You can go get breakfast. We don’t serve your kind.” I am assuming she was referring to my black husband. It is sad because he and I had eaten here twice before with no issue other than a wait time but we had not seen the owner on the other two times. We will absolutely never go back to be talked to in such a manner by a rude, ungrateful, hateful, and racist business owner. This place is a waste of your time and money. Two days later the owner threw out a colleague of mine who was having breakfast with her certified SERVICE dog. Which is illegal by the way and her response to my colleague was “I can do what I want. It’s MY place”.

I’ve been trying to eat here for the last 5 years but it was never open. I had come to the conclusion the place had long since gone out of business and hadn’t removed the sign. Until the other morning my boss and I happened to drive by and see a bit of movement inside and a “open” sign, finally, in we went. My goodness we’re we grateful to have been driving by at that time because we honestly were able to enjoy the best authentic European brunch ever. It had been many many years since we could remember enjoying such a meal. The cooking, atmosphere and the story behind it all...it’s something you must experience yourself! I won’t tell you anymore but GO! You won’t be sorry. Oh if it’s out of your way at all you may want to call first. The hours are truly unknown even by the owner, depends on if her grandchildren are visiting...

Excellent French toast and coffee. The service is not the fastest. Sometimes we sit and wait a long time to just get the menu. Also, available tables doesn’t mean you will be served. Last time, after 10 minutes sit (the place wasn’t even fullthe waiter came and said we’re in the waitlist and it would take at least 20 min. to get our order. So, in summary: good food, family place, not good service, and not prepared to serve all tables they offer.

Quite a full variety of items on every plate, with each plate containing items not necessarily mentioned on the menu details, such as the mini cube-sized banana bread that came with my shirred egg (tasted similar to a creamy poached egg, but in a ramekin). Menu is not overly extensive, everything fitting on a 1-sided page. Overall very delicious.

Well, I can only give Ive star because I waited over an hour for my food that never came. Apparently they forgot or business the order. They were clearly apologetic and I feel they meant it, but I was counting on eating and didnt have the time to go somewhere else, so I went without. IF there food had actually come, I dont know what the rating would be. This is a bit unfair I guess, but I didnt get served and no one realized it even though they were not that busy. So, there you go.

This place is the first floor of a house that was turned into a restaurant. The menu changes frequently and that allows for many new experiences. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the food made fresh with ingredients that seemed like they were grown in the backyard. The service was great as well.

The worst restaurant experience I can remember. The waitress was ridiculously rude. Nothing close to a hello or a smile, let alone a "sorry you had to stand there for 10 minutes with no one even looking at you" even though there were only three other people in the whole restaurant. We walked in and stood there for a long time. Another patron had to tell us to just go seat ourselves. They acted completely put out that we had a baby. The least child friendly place that Ive ever been. The food was just gross. It was so gross I took a picture. $15 for some sort of a stew thing. It was literally a bowl of hunks of doughy flour submerged in grease. So much grease you couldnt possibly eat it, without being sick anyway. All the menu items are $14 and $15. Like a pancake, or a piece of french toast for $15, and thats with no eggs or anything else. The menu said it came with homemade donuts but there were no donuts. The fruit salad was literally a couple little wedges of orange and lime. Lime? It did come with a piece of stale bread with a little butter spread only on the very corner of it. When we asked to take the leftovers home they said they dont do that. Seriously condescending, snotty people. I complained at the end to the other lady, I guess the owner, and she was just as nasty, no care whatsoever. We paid $43 for breakfast! And then we went home and ate so we could get some decent food.

Our favorite part of eating here is that we always discover some sort of new food. Last time we learned about something called a kiwi 🥝 grape. We had no idea such a thing existed nor how good they are. The service is always good, although dont go if your in a rush, and the coffee is superb. The menu is short, only a few items, maybe 3 mains, but somehow there is still plenty of choice.

So! Cute! (Made for a great Instagram pic! LolWe went for brunch on a weekday and were actually the only customers in the restaurant. The service was great but also they didnt hover. The food is amazing and really reminded me of a European style meal. The restaurant itself is decorated very quaint, with old family photos and furniture. The chairs even have little socks. Its all around adorable and amazing! I wish I had known about Daughters Cafe earlier.

Hurry up and get ready to wait! We waited at least half an hour just sitting at our table waiting to order. Then, waited for coffee, which was not refilled at all, even once our food arrived. Silverware didn’t show up for a while after we got our food. Water didn’t show up until halfway through our meal. Then, our server disappeared for good, never checked on us, and we had to hunt down someone else to get us the check. The food was good though. But our server didn’t know what he was doing, and nobody seemed to care. With better and faster service this could easily be a 5-star kind of place.

Sat outside for 10 mins before they changed the sign from open to closed. Waitress didnt bother to say anything while she did it either. We had to find someone to ask if they were still serving food 2 hours before the sign said they closed. I understand its a small cafe in a converted home but the customer service could have been better if the kitchen needed to shut down early

Menu prices on here are not accurate. What you see is what you get with the menu, which normally doesnt bother me unless there are only about 6 options to choose from. Only one cook so meals took a long time to make. Took so long that we decided to leave, when we did the not so friendly waiter to begin with tried to make a scene with us in front of the other customers. Sure the house is beautiful and they have a nice patio, this place is great for smug and pretentious hipsters. We just werent having it though.

My son and I are from the SF bay area and here for his baseball tournament. Loved the food, the coffee, the place, and the staff. As other reviews have stated, it can be a bit of a wait, but if youre not in a rush its totally worth it. Personally I didnt mind the wait as the place is beautiful and quite relaxing. Got there on Sunday at 9:10am with a party of 3. Ordered at 9:20, got food at 10:10. Thats a 50 minute wait which I would have been fine with but we saw three tables get their food before us even though they ordered way after us. And again I would have been fine with that if we got different meals but we got the exact same thing because its not a very big menu. Also when we got the food, the potatos and sausage were cold and the waiter seemed upset that we brought that up. Overall not a good experience, would not recommend

They cook seasonal dishes, but have a very limited menu. Be warned that they do not allow any substitutions on menu items. They refused to even omit an item (sausagethat I wasnt going to eat even though I had no issue paying menu price. Therefore, I cannot recommended the cafe for vegetarians or vegans.Their coffee is from a local roaster and the French press brew was quite good. The outdoor area has a number of seating options, about half of which are shaded by trees of umbrellas. Provided they are not super busy, the indoor/outdoor ambiance is pleasant.

My friends and I have been coming to Daughters since the day the doors opened and it is still one of our favorite places to eat breakfast/brunch/lunch. Everyone who visits me from out of town has to come to Daughters and my friends and family all know Barb and Bianca and the rest of the staff. In fact, a couple of us ate there just this morning. You simply cannot beat the warm, friendly atmosphere and the delicious food. We often go in just for coffee and have never been charged extra because we didnt eat. Sometimes we meet friends there who have already eaten somewhere else and do not eat with us, they just visit. None of them have ever been charged for sitting with us. Im just saying. If you are familiar with the Daughters menu you know it changes every season and always has six or so items of high quality food that takes longer to cook because every dish is made fresh at the time it is ordered. Daughters is not Dennys or MacDonalds - it is a high quality specialty restaurant - maybe not for everyones tastes but most assuredly for ours! We love it!Sandi DeSilva

Wonderful environment and absolutely amazing food. Even though Im vegetarian I found items on the menu. They substituted more fruit instead of sausage. Love the French music too. A gem in a land of corporate restaurants. Waitress was straight forward and not overly kiss ass which Is fine with me. People that are whining about being charged 5 extra for Sharing a meal should have read the ol menue! Support small businesses like this one!! We will definetly be back with more family members.

They only have two dishes. Fruit donut and a cookie or some eggs fruit slices and a cookie. For $15 each. My wife wasnt very hungry so I asked the rude lady if the dish with the eggs was big enough to share. She said that it was huge and she can split it for us for an extra $5.Well! She came back after 35 minutes and threw on the table an emty plate. 10 minutes later she came back with a happy meal size dish, some eggs fruit and cookies. So they charge 5 dollars for an empty plate, oh! And three cold tortillas.

Excellent local business with awesome food. Come here for the warm atmosphere and delicious food. Dont come expecting them to flip tables like the chain establishments. Its a wonderful family operated business. The space is limited so best for smaller groups during the winter. Prices are moderate but worth it. Menu is limited but well executed. My wife and I along with two other couples had Sunday brunch today. The service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Mennonite Bierocks special and my wife had the Dutch Baby. The Bierocks were delicious and so where the sides especially the winter cobbler. Dutch Baby were great but maybe a little less lemon juice since it pooled in the middle of the plate.Everyone in our group loved this place. Well be back again soon.
