Dastaan in Tacarigua

Real depth of flavour. Tried 7 different dishes and quality was consistently high across the board. Recipes I expected to be lame like "butter chicken" had deep savoury flavours. The ok NGS we were warned would be spicy were not so spicy as to overwhelm the flavours. Food po-po say "Highly recommended".

Absolutely top class all round. The beetroot starter was a triumph as was the chicken and fish tikkas. Mains and side dishes were delicious. Service was so efficient and friendly, really cant fault this wonderful restaurant. Thank you to all the team there for making our daughters 21st birthday family celebration so special! 😀

Very tasty and nice! Huge options on the menu. Chef was amazing he came to me to sook especially Gluten-free food! He told me which would be higher risk of gluten cross contamination . He advised me Paneer and Methi Chicken with some pilau rice. I didn’t get sick at all thank you all 🥰🥰😊😊

One of the most delicious Indian starters I have ever had. Main course was also good but would prefer starters and desserts over main course. Definitely visiting again!

Arguably the best Indian restaurant in London. Finally a menu that delivers. Shame its so far away from Central London but never the less treat for locals! I would visit again and again if I could.

Loved their chicken lollipop- one of the best I have tried outside India.The chicken tikka was a bit disappointing and lacked the tandoori flavour.

Dastaan is by far the best Indian food I have had in London.Their Kumbh Palak (with mushroomsis a must try. Deserts are also delicious.They have a rustic old themed ambience which is lovely. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking to have good Indian food.

Taste was good but over expensive for very small quantity. They said its halal but on the other side they cook pork as well. Everything was over priced which was disappointing.

Two Michelin stars, each one totally earned.Dastaan is an absolute culinary treat. This is by far the best Indian restaurant Ive been to.The food is on another level. Its unlike any other Indian food Ive had. From the freshly baked, uniquely flavoured Poppadoms, naans and paratha, to the incredibly tasty rogan josh and buttered chicken, every dish on our table was a delight. Even the pulao rice tastes fantastic on its own.Id highly recommend the DahiPuri and assorted Poppadom basket as starts, with an absolutely fantastic butter chicken to follow, rounded off with either the gulab jamun or pistachio kulfi for dessert.Beyond the food, the staff are terrific, very warm and welcoming, and the restaurant is spotless.If good Indian food is your thing, you need to make your way to Dastaan.

Authentic Indian taste with excellent culinary experience. Highly recommended for people looking for a fine fine experience with Indian cuisine. Each food item has its own essence of magic in it and it really brings out the chefs hardwork.No doubt it is a Michelean restaurant. Keep up the quality.

A family of 7 had the best time. The chef special crispy Okra and aloo tokra was delicious. We also tried the beetrook tikki, samosa and samosa chaat, paneer of all sorts and the Asparagus biryani. The best naan we have had in a long time, that we had to order more after our first bite. There was no room for dessert but the restaurant staff realised that we were celebrating Mums birthday so they brought us a lovely gulab jamun with a candle on top. Mum was so embarrassed but we all sang her a birthday song.Absolutely lovely experience and delicious food.

Went there for lunch on Saturday afternoon, really tasty food, good portions. Also air-conditioned which was nice on a hot day. Would definitely come back!

This curry is incredible. I cant recommend it enough. Every dish we have was beautiful and the service is great.

Exceptional food, great service...did I mention exceptional food... We will be back for sure heard the hype now believe the reality...Food was perfectly cooked, perfectly flavoured and the accompaniments to each dish belonged there and were different to the "standard" sides and condiments in every Indian restaurant. Im a huge fan of Brigadiers and Regency this is up there... Cant wait for next time.

After someone highly recommended the Dastaan we thought we would give it a go.I wont be going back again!The range of dishes was very small compared to any other Indian restaurant I have been to.I dont like spicy/hot food so went with butter chicken which is normally very mild. I could just about eat it as it was very hot/spicy.The sauce looked suspiciously the same as my wife and daughters vegetarian dishes. The restaurant had a feeling of being similar to a cafe with cutlery and paper napkins in a bucket on the table. Service wasnt great. We had to remind staff on 3 occasions about dishes not arriving. It was also very expensive. £12.65 for the butter chicken which elsewhere is normally £7-8. Nearly £15 for a vegetarian spinach dish!

Terrific venue to discover a fresh take on traditional Indian dishes. It gets busy, ( understanderbly for this quality of food), so worth booking ahead. Recommended.

Dastaan has been one of my favourite places for Food since it opened. I haven’t been for a while and I felt a bit let down. I always rave about this place and tell everyone about it. This dishes I had last night have become average. The lamb chop for the price is now small and overcooked. It was not moist at all. The food lacked flavour. The only thing I did like was the butter chicken. I’m not sure what has changed but the food needs to go back to when they first opened.

Lovely food, absolutely totally different to your original curry. Beautiful spices, friendly staff. But be warned, the dishes are warm.....

Our favourite local place to eat! The menu is varied and has a few more unusual takes on dishes. Service is always friendly, but these days it’s definitely recommended to book ahead as they are VERY busy, which tells you a lot about how good this place is !

Have eaten at this restaurant previously but afraid to say on this occasion it just wasn’t that good. It was only when talking to a friend who said didn’t you know the previous chef who developed this business has left. Makes sense now. Hopefully it can turn things around.Asked if they had something mild for our child but essentially not available apparently..Pop Corn chicken was red raw inside (I get this is now acceptable especially in central Londonbut doesn’t sit comfortably with me. Price for 2 adults and 1 child £80….For me it’s £20-30 too expensive…

Surprise birthday dinner for me and I doubt it could have been much better, enjoyable! 😊Superb service and food, each dish delightfully presented and of exceptional quality!To finish off a mini birthday cake was delivered to my table and the staff sang Happy birthday! to me, a lovely touch!Highly recommended, very much looking forward to my next visit to Dastaan!

I finally got to Dastaan a few months back and it was fantastic. The food was amazing!!! Great to see an open kitchen with skills and expertise. Can not wait to come back again. I ate my food to quickly to take pictures so I have to come back. We need more places like this in the area which are bringing quality, passion and dedication to food.

Was very apprehensive of going to this restaurant due to location being far off from where we live .. However we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and the politeness of the staff.. loved the starters and mains .. personal fav were tandoori broccoli and red pepper prawns.. slightly disappointed with the desserts but overall a delightful experience ..would go there again

Amazing food and service, I would say this is the best Indian restaurant I have been to and is my favourite cuisine. The quality is far better than your average Indian takeaway, more expensive than most but you get what you pay for here and will certainly be coming back in the foreseeable future.Every dish was cooked to perfection, tasted great and was a memorable experience. Highly recommend, wish I had come across this restaurant sooner.

Wow.Didnt expect to find such an incredible Indian restaurant this side of London and right on my door step.What you immediately notice when you walk in is simply how busy it is (even on a Tuesday night).The interior is charming and unassuming, they let the food (and servicedo the talking.We ordered Poppadoms and Pickled dips, Bhajiyas, a Lamb Chop, the Lamb Biryani, the Chicken Chettinad curry, Butter Naan and the Lemon Sorbet dessert.Every dish was cooked with the mastery and care that you would expect of a Michelin awarded Chef.The meals highlight was the Lamb Chop, whose flavour and texture was so immensely satisfying that we were reluctant to swallow each mouthful.We look very forward to sampling the rest of the menu!

Tucked away amongst a small parade of shops alongside the A240, at first glance you’d think this was just another generic suburban curry house but this is something truly special. This award winning restaurant has been cooking up a curry storm since it opened its doors in 2016 and it’s still going strong.The mooli mustard lamb chops are an absolute must and my favourite dish on the menu - if you don’t order them you’re just not doing it right. Succulent thick-cut lamb chops cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour, they may seem steep at £9.95 per chop but are worth every penny!

I have to say i am impressed. Coming from a typical bengali indian family, i can say people in Dastaan knows how to cook Indian food, unlike every other curry houses in the country.

Highly highly recommend! The food was simply outstanding, such diversity of flavours and everything cooked very authentically. I couldn’t have asked for a better meal, the lamp chop, chicken methi & vindaloo were delicious! 10/10

Delicious food and good service but ambience could have been better.For Starters, we had the Dahi Puri Chaat (excellent, highly recommendand Chicken Lollipop (nice and flavourful, but a little dry).For Mains, had Butter Naan with Lamb Rogan Josh and Malai Chicken Kebab, all of which were delicious. Butter Naans were excellent, the lamb cooked very very well and the Malai Chicken Kebab was cooked to perfection although the portion size could have been better.Also tried the Carrot Halwa for Dessert which was quite nice, and not too sweet.Highly recommend; will definitely return.Ambience could have been better . The restaurant is nice but the overall ambience was disturbed by some drunken guests who should have been better controlled by the restaurant staff (rather than encouraging the behaviour).

Brilliant food. Excellent service. We went without booking but the owner of the restaurant arranged table for us although it was busy on the day. We were 4 including 2 kids. Food was so fresh and tasty. I still remember the taste of food because we loved it. We are vegetarian so we would highly recommend this restaurant. From starter to desert everything is brilliant!

Friendly staff. £5 for poppa doms and dips is a bit dear. Also they charged for lemon water. Most fine dinning offer thus for free.Dishes may look small, but packed full of flavour

Quality Indian food, packed with flavour. It’s not the oily, 1-taste-for-every-dish kind of place. In my opinion, their chef is actually a chef and is thinking about each dish. Worth the money, even though a little on the expensive side for what I am used to. Lovely friendly staff who are very accommodating and put you at ease. I will definitely go again for a special occasion.

The best Indian restaurant in London. Such incredible, fine dining standard flavours, particularly the lamb chops. We have been searching far and wide for the best curry house, and we have definitely found it here! Great job dastaan - see you again soon! 😁 👍

I can easily say that it was my best Indian meal in London. Even if you are not into Indian cuisine - like me - the staff will guide you to have a proper indo-gastronomic experience. The hygiene is also high standards, prices are reasonable. I would recommend if you don’t mind the trip to Epsom

Finally, Indian cuisine that is tasty, fresh, authentic and isn’t full of oil! Highly recommend this place. Service was excellent, staff could explain the menu and ingredients fully and were very efficient and friendly. Menu wasn’t pages and pages of mass produced curries, which I much prefer. Chutneys were the best I’ve tasted. We had to book a month in advance to get a table here, now I understand why! I look forward to visiting again soon.

This is a fantastic place. The food is very authentic Indian and the Chef and staff are wonderful. I see why have won so many awards. Nothing can stop the smiles on my face after seeing the team work together and making sure every single customer is happy. The happiness was floating all around the restaurant.The attention to detail by the Chef and the staff is great. They make sure everyone leaves satisfied.There is a good range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food available. All of them made to order and with detail and attention.We were sat right opposite the kitchen and it was such a joy watching them all working in harmony. The Chef smiling and making sure the team was comfortable all the time. This then radiated to the customers as the staff were happy.All in all a great family friendly restaurant with very authentic Indian food.

A really lovely restaurant and very good service. The food was really fresh and very tasty indeed 👍🏼 not cheap though but worth going to it on special occasions. The starters were really tasty.

So first off I need to commend these guys on the quality of their food. It was delicious and different from your standard Indian affair. However when it came to booking the restaurant (stated online that we would have children of 6 and 8 and had a call about thisI was lead to believe that the dishes were going to be suitable for children or at least reduced in heat to allow their little mouths to enjoy the flavours, i was very sadly mistaken. The waiter took us through the menu and said all the dishes had spice and they could bring yogurt to help calm the heat, when asked about creating a milder dish it turned out it was something they could not do. This is quite surprising as most if not all restaurants can cater for little ones in this way. As it turns out my youngest could hardly eating anything apart from my wifes rice, this is such a shame as the prices were quite expensive for what I was expecting and it seemed like it was a small hurdle to overcome and an expected one from a restaurant. I did have to ask several times for table water, we did not receive enough plates for the table when the mains arrived, there was a severe lack in serviettes when needed from starters to mains. So it did feel sloppy in their customer attentiveness.

Stunning food. Im vegan so my choices generally are quite limited but here they do some lovely dishes. A little spicy for my tongue but very nice! People at my table also massively recommended the lamb and the chicken tikka starter, apparently very delicious too. Staff are also lovely and its always a good experience :)

Hands down one of the best experience of Indian cuisine I have had in and outside of London. If you are in the area, do yourself a favour and pay Dastaan a visit. You will not be disappointed. The service was impeccable, the wines we top notch and the food was incredible!!! There is no doubt I will look to visit Dastaan again in the future

Dastaan is a local yardstick for comparing other Indian restaurants in the area. Thankfully, its not a curry house with balti and madras and other sauces that no one uses in India. All dishes are authentic.We ordered chicken tikka which was well roasted and yet juicy. Was a bit disappointed by the sprouted lentil used in panipuri, black gram or yello peas would have been more authentic. We were delighted by how fresh the paneer in Paneer Makhni was - just shows the level of attention they put in their dishes. Chana Masala was excellently spiced with the right flavors and not using excessive chilli. Naans were light and fluffy.Just when I thought I could not be impressed more, I ordered the mango and fig kheer and as soon as it hit my mouth I realised its not some carribbean mango from Tesco but Alfonso, the king of mangoes. The freshly diced fig complemented the Alfonso flavour in the rice. This is not a dish to be shared.

Superb, first time visit. Excellent service, atmosphere and menu. The food was 💯. The two starters, pictured below, where Chicken Chops and Lamb Chops. Both remarkable.

The starters here were very good. Really enjoyed them. The naan was also very good. I was disappointed in the main I had. I have plain rice and lamb Rogan Josh. I felt it to be a little watered down and the rice didnt taste very fresh.

Truly the hidden gem of Epsom. The food was incredibly scrumptious and staff are very friendly.The atmosphere is very casual and relax which is rather unusual for an Indian restaurant but that is the intention of Dastaan, to break the mold.Prepare your mouth because not only are the food mouth watering delicious but proper spicy. I would highly recommend the lollipop chicken, lamp chops and butter naan.
