The must-see experience of Darwin!!! Amazing food and awesome staff, they deserve soooo many more than five stars. I would move to Darwin just to keep on eating here.
This place is amazing. The Service from beginning to end was immaculate but the food. The food was a delight, such delicious flavours and great use of spices. Thanks for the great street food atmosphere.

If craving for home cooking must visit Darwin Tandoori restaurant. Friendly service and professional hygiene. 10/10 for food . Good jobs chef will come back for more surely.
Wonderful and authentic Indian cuisine. We felt as if in India. Amazing staff and their hospitality has no match. Darwin Tandoir is Taste of India I would recommend very many times.
Amazing food and excellent host. So friendly a family we felt like home during the short trip to Darwin. Really sumptuous food and tastes homely. Thank you very much for being there for the Indians. Very reasonable price to top it for the quality of food.
It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming. Good food in affordable prices. 💜
Shahi paneer, peshwari naan were both absolutely lovely. Back again tonight. Very nice people. If you do want to eat there, dont be put off by the narrow arcade. You can always get takeaway and walk through Alfonsinos restaurant at the end of the arcade to Shadworth lane where theres open area. A few benches out there from what used to be the bus station. Even shelter if its raining. 😉
Awesome and authentic Indian cuisine. The dishes were all really nice and came in large serves. I really enjoyed the naan, so good. The lady at the counter was really friendly and put up with all my questions. My only issue is that I did not get a chance to go back before leaving Darwin.
The food reminded me of home on my trip away from home! Recommend everyone to check it out! Order ahead to avoid the waits because of how popular this place is!
Best Indian food Ive ever had, so tasty and creamy and everything is so fresh! This small family business has amazing food and even better service they are so kind. I will be back so many more times I have found my new favourite Darwin restaurant
I got the butter chicken medium spice. Very tasty curry. The only downside is the small portion size, around 150g of chicken in the curry. Naan very good and rice was cooked well. Great meal all together but wouldnt say it is worth spending 30$ on especially considering the location.
We could not have loved the food or service any more. A must for food lovers when in Darwin
Best butter chicken I’ve eaten in a while. Street style restaurant with few tables outside. Service can be slow as they are a husband and wife couple that run the restaurant so please be patient.
OMG, the best butter chicken. We travelled around Australia and we can surely say this Indian place is the best. Food is very homely and paneer is actually made in the house too.
Great authentic food cooked by a husband and wife team.Prices are cheap and the food was delicious.Minimal seating if you plan to go in a large group. Hole in the wall establishment with hawker style seating.
I was walking around looking for something special and I found this gem.A family run business, looks like the husband does the cooking and his wife handles the customers. The food exceeded my expectations.Really fresh, really delicious and tasty.I’ve eaten a lot of Indian food (in India and Sydneyand this is one of the nicest meals I’ve had. Great breads also. You must try it out .
Definitely go here! Good price for amazing flavour. Its a "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant with outdoor Food Court seating (not dine‐in). I was happy to see AUTHENTIC butter chicken (not artificially coloured fluorescent orange). Delicious, fresh, handmade, rolled and cooked Chapati. All curries are made fresh with no preservatives and worth the wait. You can choose your level of 🌶🌶🌶. Good serving size and well-priced. It was delicious, fresh, spicy, and flavour-full... with friendly service!
A hidden gem tucked away in a little laneway! Delicious Indian restaurant run by a lovely family! We had the butter chicken and aloo matar with a side of rice and garlic/cheese naan. Perfect servings for 2 people. You can taste how fresh the food is as every dish is prepared fresh each day; you can also choose your level of spiciness to suit your tastes.First time eating here and I look forward to coming again. Thanks for having us!
It was really awesome food as make me feel like home ,highly recommended and surely visit over their again . Specially loved chole bathura as everyone should try it .
Great food with lovely flavour. Affordable, friendly.. We’ve eaten a lot of Indian and this is good, we’ll be back
Best value for money and food Authentic Indian restaurant Service is Great menu selection are fantastic with vegetarian and vegan options available fresh Curries and freshly baked soft Naan Breads yum and try won’t go wrong.Sam Semwal Adelaide
My son said the butter chicken was the best chicken dish he’s ever had! Excellent Indian in a fun alley setting. The chef made everything mild on request, so my kids loved it.
We saw it and knew that we had found the right place for the perfect dinner. The food was fresh, flavoursome and beautiful. The flavours rolled into the food and it was authentic. It was also very affordable. It was all round a great introduction to Darwin.
The food are amazing! If you’re looking for an authentic Indian taste i will highly recommend this place! Been here million times..❤️
One of the beat Indian food in Darwin. I love the taste and the owner is so friendly. Highly recommendThank you 😊
SO good. The owners are lovely and prepare each dish fresh for you, which meant I could adjust what I had to suit my weak spice tolerance! I had the shahi paneer which had fantastic flavours. Very reasonably priced, good portion sizes and open early for dinner.
Well well this has to be the best chicken vinderloo I have had in ten years, the butter chicken was excellent and so was the mutter paneer just a shame they can’t deliver to Queensland.
Be aware this is a hole in the wall style restaurant with food court seating outside. We had not noticed this on the website so just a warning for future diners if you are expecting a sit down restaurant.Wait time for the food was around 40 minutes, however it was all made fresh which is good.Yellow Dahl - this dish was quite bland, we honestly make a better dahl at home. Ordered medium but again not very hotPalank Paneer - this dish was ok, we ordered the medium however it wasn’t very hot. Only had around 6 pieces of Paneer in the dish which was too few for the amount of curry sauce. The Vegetable Byriani was wet and gluggy and also made with frozen vegetables so it wasn’t great2x papadums - standard papadums, not much to add here2 garlic naan - the naan was great, made in a tandoor so it was the perfect combination of crispy and softRaita - this side was good, a nice chunky traditional raitaAll in all, just above average.
Delicious food.Catering specialist.Perfect Temperature for naan and curries. We will come back for sure.Highly Recommended for Indian curries and Tandoor.Thank you 😊
Second time eating here over the last week. Authentic Indian food. Loved the butter chicken. Quite possibly one of the best Indian restaurants I have eaten at. And I eat a lot of Indian food. Highly recommended...
Ive cooked better butter chicken than this and Id rate mine a 5 out of 10 so pretty average. It had hardly any flavour, very little chicken and the gravy had the consistency of water. Nice Naan though.
We placed our order and asked for it to be ready to serve in half an hour. This gave us time to enjoy a predinner drink at the nearby bar and also purchase a bottle of Pepperjack Shiraz from Coles, also nearby. The food was fabulous, we couldnt fault the curries, naan or condiments. Heading back to try other dishes very soon. YUM!
The best chole bathura and side dish of onions slices with chat masala.
Its a small, cute, cozy perfect....THE PERFECT PLACE to take you back home and rekindle those desi flavours. Im here in Darwin and temporarily and I keep coming back every other day. Price -great. Quantity- perfect, taste - wont let you feel youre out of Punjab/India. They even adjust the spice levels to your comfort. Its a blessing to have found this place here!!!
Best Indian Food in Darwin! 😋 Not just the location and ambience but also the quality of the food (fresh and authenticis exemplary. 🥂 Owner lady is so full of enthusiasm and serves her food with love and passion.💮🌼❤️ Fresh and Delicious, (especially the chapati and paranthasreminds me of home 🏠
We have been ordering biriyani and Tandoori Chicken from them since a few months. Today they catered for my sons birthday and everyone including us loved the food. No compromise in quality and quantity. All guests were raving about the food. We had requested a few mild spiced items for our Irish, Australian and French friends and they found it perfect. Our Indian friends loved it too! Thank you for taking our last minute request and to deliver the yummy food on time.
👌YOU will come again.A very good place for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian lovers. The food is good and the price is low. The place is generally crowded here. The food is of good quality and their customer service really great (committment towards delivering food on time)Rest, doesnt matter.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Highly recommended if youre looking for a tasty punjabi food.Grateful to had dinner tonight 😋 remind me my mom recipe.Great and kind couple working very hard to make you happy and feed you home made food.
A little difficult to find (we walked past the sign twice, but we can be a bit blind!), Darwin Tandoor is tucked away in the side street by Alfonsinos. A small (3 tablesfamily-run place, I imagine most people get takeaway, but my partner and I quite enjoyed dining "in". Now, weve been to many Indian restaurants, and I have to say the food here is exceptional. Be comfortable with a bit of a wait to enjoy your food fresh (or maybe order ahead if you prefer). We had the butter chicken, goat curry (Fri/Sat special!), and garlic naan. All were delicious, and I would say downright spectacular. So whether you enjoy dishes tried and true, or something a little off the beaten track, you will love the cuisine from this lovely family. I hope this restaurant will only grow, and I look forward to them being the biggest Indian restaurant in town the next time Im in Darwin.
Great for budget travellers, large serving. Lamb Rogan Josh with rice and vegetables ($12.5). Tables are clean, Service is fast, staff are friendly. Conveniently Located in the CBD. Vegetables slightly spicy hot, sauce of lamb mixed well with rice and vegetables. A good filling meal to prepare for a long night out.
