Darbar Indian Restaurant - Indian restaurant in Canberra, Australia
I ate here with the love of my life.As the moonlight reflected off her beautiful brown eyes, the biryani came out steaming.I love the smell of my girl, but the essence of the succulent chicken wafting through her presence entranced me as much as her own beauty.10/10 would eat here again.
Chicken chat pat- 4/5Garlic naan- 2.5/5Railway goat curry- 3.5/5Egg biryani- 4/5Keema biryani- 3.5/5Overall (price/portion/taste)- 3.5/5
Disappointed! We were in Canberra for the Floriade and many of our friends recommended do not return without having visited Darbar for their Special Biryani. We entered the place at around 2000hrs and ordered it along with Malai Kofta and the special Chaat. We got the food at around 2040 and the 2 personnel apologized to us for the delay caused. Even at 2105hrs the biriyani had not arrived. Our parking at nearby Wilson was only for an hour. Hence had to leave the restaurant. Giving two stars however cause whatever we ate there was super delicious and top notch quality. Just wished the management deployed a few more resources to wait the tables on a superbusy Sunday night.
Very worst catering experience, recently ordered a catering package for my sons birthday party. Food quantity was very less. Chef forgot to add salt to Paneer curry, not even a pinch 😕. Single Naan piece is quarter size to original size of a naan, and it was countable (very less). And all other items were also less in quantity.Darbar was always our preferred restaurant. This time it is worst and we are not satisfied with the service and food provided. Not worth the money. ☹️
Food was delicious and Shiva was friendly and took good care. Quality and quantity of the food we catered were more than enough for the guest who visited us.
This restaurant had great food and the prices are very fair. The food is packed with flavour and the restaurant also clearly publishes that they’re halaal/halal.
Had out kids birthday party today. Excellent effort from the Darbar team. Food was fantastic and service was excellent. Special thanks to Shiva for the free desert and it was yummy. Overall throughly enjoyed and recommend this restaurant.
Good food, great ambience, service was very good. Idk who is the owner but he/she has the best south Indian food in Canberra.
Had the most disappointing dinner last night. The delivery arrived after 90 mins. The weirdest part was we ordered 2 garlic Naans as part of the order and received chappathis in the shape of Naan - not sure if they thought we wouldnt realise the difference. The chicken majestic did not taste good, Naans were chappathi and the hyderabadi biriyabi saved the night. Wasted $70.
hi every one i visited this restaurant in Canberra and food was very delicious excellent food, ambiance nice decoration and presentations inside restaurant, and more important food is 100% halal i recommend you guys to visit this restaurant if you are in Canberra.... as i have enjoyed a good quality food .....the staff is very friendly and helpful in choosing the menu ............keep it up Darbar Canberra....... keep going .......................
Love the food. Authentic North Indian & South Indian food especially Hyderabadi Dum Biryani. If you crave for Hyderabadi Dum Biryani or Butter chicken this is the place. South Indian food, and North Indian food including Chinese, Tandoori rotis, Kebabs and Tikkas are amazing. The focus is on serving quality food which is a huge positive! Staff are very friendly and cordial. Amazing place to relax with friends and family
All the food lovers who’s missing Hyderabad dum biryani visit this place, food is amazing and the weekend Thali 👌👌Very good ambience, Courteous staff, quick service and amazing south indian food.
We have celebrated friends birthday parties in Darbar recently. Food is awesome and great Service. Great ambience and the staff are welcoming.
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Canberra. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing everything we tasted melted in mouth. Absolutely the best meal we had while in Canberra . Highly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Had to leave most of the food because of its taste.Chicken was very bad. But, drinking water is good.I will definitely recommend everyone to go and try Darbar if they need water. (Dont try anything else).
We had Darbar to cater for a birthday party and the food was so delicious with a perfect blend of all the spices. All the guests loved the food and the qty was Great.Shiva was well organised with arranging everything needed and communication was really good.Thank you very much..
The Best Indian restaurant in Canberra. I always had great dining experience.I got the catering done for my daughters fifth birthday. The food was great, price was reasonable. Good Job guys, Keep it up.
All dishes are delicious but my favourite is Hyderabadi Biryani 😋 😋
Biryani was a disaster job and they should teach their bread maker, how to make lachha prantha??
Awesome buffet today...taste and price are great. Will visit again soon
Shiva and team catered to our girls birthday party…we had over 125 guests .. I was so proud that I chose Darbar to cater for us as they took customer experience very seriously.. the food was delicious and authentic.. the flavours were right and the quantity was spot on … I would definitely choose Darbar in future again … Thanks Shiva and team for making our special occasion much more special with your food !!Kind regardsNeeharika

Everything about Darbar Indian Restaurant was great. The place was clean and ambiance is so good. The staff and greeter Shiva was very nice. Our waiter was awesome, the staff also worked as a team in bringing and cleaning up our food. The food was fresh and tasty and awesome atmosphere. After the dinner we also had some dessert and the taste was really amazing. Great atmosphere with really nice people. We will definitely go again and highly recommended for food lovers. Cheers thanks Shiva Garu for tasty food and good experience.
Flavours were incredible - meat was so tender with zero fat - will definitely be back when in Canberra again !
We had a catering over the weekendIts one of the worst restaurant Indian in CanberraWe have ordered quite a lot for the function and 3 items are off and smells like yuk and one of the main guy got food poisoning and admitted in the hospital.I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone also ACT food safety team should visit these restaurants quite often. Please stay away 🙏 😪
Darbar - Our favourite destination in Canberra for Indian cuisine.Either it can be a visit to restaurant or a party order or outdoor catering we always love the deliciousness and spice factor (added on our request).Cut Mirchi, Gobi Manchurian, Chick Tikka, Gongura Mutton, Beetroot Bonda, Chick Biryani are our all time favourites.Special mention to.....Shiva for his awesome hospitality.Chefs for cooking lumptuous richly flavoured dishes.Staff for their Wow factor in service.Thank you Darbar!
2 dishes, roti, rice, cucumber riata, nan bread for $55. Clean and tidy staff friendly.
I ordered haleem from darbar restaurant. It was super delicious. My friends also enjoyed it.I will highly recommend it to everyone who is fond of haleem.I ll definitely come again for haleem.Best wishes andThanks team Darbar.
Went for my sons birthday with large group. Ordered lots of food, all food came on time. Amazing experience with great quality of food and exceptional service. Thanks very much for a lovely experience :)
I ordered food for 40 people and the food was so delicious that everyone was asking me about the food. It was sufficient and the quantity was beyond my imagination. Shiva Sir was so humble, he provided me with all the dishes. I believe that everyone should visit Darbar Restaurant once and then you will be regular there.
The Hyderabadi dum biryani was good but not enough meat was there. Full of bones. I could finish 1/3 box of biryani rice with all the meats. How would I eat the rest 2/3 rice? Really disappointed.
Ordered at Darbar for my daughters birthday.Same wonderful and mouth watering taste. The management went above & beyond to deliver the food.Would definitely go back again! Thank you Darbar!
Good food and great service. The lady who served us was very friendly and smiling all the time. Very impressive. Will visit again.
Classic example of a restaurant suffering from very old ratings bringing down its overall total but being actually amazing and very underrated. The food took a while to arrive but it was absolutely delicious and very authentic. Very pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste
Ordered catering for our son’s birthday, excellent food, excellent quantity and quality. The best fish ever- Apollo fish👌🏼💫Will definitely come for dine in 😋
I ordered cocktail menu for my sons 4th year Bday. Food was so delicious. I and my friends like it so much.Thank you Siva for making our event so memorable.
Easily the best Indian food in Canberra, only competition around is maybe Dosa Hut with their dosa. The Desi Lamb Shanks are insane, the Kerala Korma with lamb is incredible and the rest of their curries cant go wrong. Service is friendly, dedicated and caring, they always do their best and the chefs are awesome. I Highly recommend.
Had an absolutely delicious dine-in meal. The chicken dosa was crispy and the filling so tasty, with interesting condiments to keep each bite different and spicy. But the lamb chops were the hero of the meal. Tender with an amazingly flavourful marinade and delicious minty sauce.
Yesterday (20/2/22I went to Mode 3 to visit my brother, with me I had a small child. In the hallway where you guys have tables and chairs you placed customers with a large dog...that dog was vicious and lunged at my child whilst growling and barking.Even when we came downstairs we were again met by the same dog that was snarling and aggressive. If you are going to allow people to bring their animals into your restaurant then you need to be sure that the animal is safe.
If you want some pretty authentic Indian food, you’ll get it here. We like our Indian food and we had some dishes here that we’ve not been able to get anywhere else. Paper Dosa for example. Last time I had one was in Malaysia about 15 years ago!! Tasted amazing! Food is great, staff are really nice… but if they get busy with take away orders, you might have to wait for your food… A very busy restaurant at times, but worth it.
Darbar - An evening in Braddon🤩I am sure if you will agree with me If you have to see Canberra partying..the best place is to hop at Brandon..Apart from the busy street famous for pubs and bar, you have amazing restaurants.. One of my favourite on this street is Darbar! It serves Indian cuisine. Its entrees are Lips smacking 😋 in frame Chicken 65 and Prawns. In main course had we had ordered Chef Special - Chicken Chatpat. But my fav was Chicken Chuka..I bet you would not get this dish in entire Canberra. We had these amazing gravies with Garlic and cheese naan.Would highly recommend to try some cuisine it wont disappoint you..🥰
I don’t know where to even start from- firstly the restaurant was open however the board outside showed closed. We waited for almost 30-35 mins for our entree and had to chase the waiter for our order. The entree arrived after few bites we realised that the chicken was all dry, overcooked felt like it has been sitting in the freezer- they had probably just microwaved and tossed it in the sauce. Later on we asked the waiter if we could cancel the mains order, the waiter mentioned that she can cancel the order however when she checked with the chefs the chefs said they had already made our mains. Still waiting for our mains it was 20 mins and it never arrived. We had to go again and ask for our mains? We were told that it is in microwave, may I ask is this what you are serving to the Canberra market? Please learn some basic hospitality etiquettes. Chefs need to change their attitude, nothing was done to make our experience better. I don’t want anyone to waste their money on this restaurant. You have better places to eat in Canberra.
The food here arent too bad. When we lived at Mode 3 it definitely was very convenient to get to as it was just downstairs. Quite good Indian food. Yours truly @fooderarri
Great variety of interesting dishes to choose from. Very attentive friendly service all at a reasonably price. Check it out.
Amazing, fantastic food. Being vegetarian I tried malai kofta, daal makhni and bhindi with garlic naan and paratha ! Food was very tasty, quantity was also sufficient. We were a group of 11 and my friends really liked non veg dishes- chicken chatpat, goat curry paratha and dum biryani.. restaurant has got good seating capacity. I would want to come again and recommend it to my friends and travelers !Staff was courteous and food was served hot.Must go !!
Great restaurant. We love the food. Sometimes service is a little slow so dont be in a hurry
An authentic Indian restaurant. Friendly customer service. Nice ambience and the food is great. Best dosas in Canberra. Tnx😊😊
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent portion size for the price!! Lovely place to eat, we will be back (already booked in for another dinner!😍😍😍 oh and the Keema Dosa is AMAZING!! If you’ve never tried Dosa it is a must! There is also masala dosa which I think is vegetarian 😊
If youre looking for a good Indian meal this is the place to go in Canberra. There is also a large choice of meals for vegetarians and vegans and they are all delicious. The inside of the restaurant is spacious, well decorated and it is very rarely crowded. The plating here is also nice and adds an extra touch to the experience.Having tried most of the menu I can say the food is magnificent and at a reasonable price, around $19 for most mains.
Absolutely loved this place. The food is amazing, the staff friendly and the service super quick. They have their own little twists to most of the dishes which make them even better tasting. The Hyderabadi Dum Biryani is a must try. Will surely come and eat here again whenever we visit Canberra next.
