Dar Yacout - Moroccan restaurant in Marrakech, Morocco
Beautiful restaurant with great decor and traditional music. Lovely atmosphere but unfortunately the food is only edible and nothing more. Also very perfunctory service.
Booked a month ago and got a cancellation from the restaurant the day before.
This is a real morrocan resturant, reservation is a must. located in a Fine historical Riad or Dar which means residence. Food is great, the quantity is huge, service a bit on the showy side but still impressive. ambiance is a plus, we enjoyed our time there. It is very expensive. But good.
The setting and decor are absolutely beautiful. Atmosphere is great especially if you like live music played at your table during drinks and dinner. Probably 100% of diners are tourists, so much for authenticity. But this is a restaurant and the food is the issue. To summarize, it was just a touch above average. The size of the dishes was way too large for 2 people we hardly ate half of it. Cut down on show and quantity pump up food quality. All in all we enjoyed our evening.
Quite a disappointment ! No menu a la carte . No one explained us what we will have for dinner . Kind of all included for 700dh .Moroccan salads were very average . Chicken not tasty At all . More a tourist attractions then a good restaurant.
A wonderful treat, an eating experience like no other,Amazing food in a magical setting
A superb restaurant of the highest standards in Marrakech. Beautifully furnished and decorated, the rooftop terrace a particular delight. The owner-manager deserves a special mention, a most courteous, personable, well-spoken and cosmopolitan young man he would not be out of place running any of the most exclusive restaurants in New York, Paris or London.
Amazing...just be sure to get there hungry!
A safe bet for traditional marrocan food in Marrakech. Royals go and eat there... So you can imagine the beautiful setting :-)
Excellent from start to finish! If you didn’t like the food in because your taste buds are to accustom to McDonald’s! Great night to spend with family or friends! Would definitely recommend to all my loved ones.More details could be found on other reviews as I normally leave no reviews.
Very enjoyably atmosphere and heart Marakshi fare…could have mentioned the prix fixe set up before and didn’t get my aperitif
Great place to visit and have dinner, the experience the live music the setup is just magical, as far as food goes, we tried the set menu a lot of food and options, appetizers and desert were great, the chicken tagine was not good, lamb tagine was ok.So the place is definitely recommended for the experience and part of the food served which is a lot. Great for couples.
Beautiful place, excellent food and service.
We should have left at the entrance when the doorman asked us three times if we could afford 700 Dh each to dine, but we needed to escape the continuous hassling that occurs whilst walking in Marrakech. A mistake! Once inside it became apparent we were stuck in an expensive tourist trap serving far too much very average food and cheap wine for a fixed but high price. On leaving the staff demanded a tip and the doorman was again rude. The location is beautiful but the user experience is like being taken for a ride.
I really should have complained but didnt. The food here is abhorrent, if you want good food, give this a wide berth, I just cannot believe all the positive reviews.Having said that, the atmosphere is fantastic, a live Moroccan band gives it a real buzz. The building has a rooftop with great views, a great spot to watch the sunset with a drink. The restaurant itself is set in a courtyard in the centre of the building, decorated with candles and plants, a very romantic and lively setting (if that is possible to imagine?!).The meal is a set menu, no other option than this, and from start to finish, every dish is terrible. From overcooked mutton to bizzare tasting salads, clearly the food is mass produced behind the scenes and dished up. No care to flavour, to the quality of the ingredients, indeed to anything fitting of a decent dish, a chilling reminder of my school food in the 80s.Go for the atmosphere, but be warned, expect terrible food.
I surely recommend this Riad for many reasons (food, accommodation, the viewon the roof), everything is exceptional. Its like a tiny royal palace. Dont miss it whenever visiting Marrakech.
Amazing and everlasting memories I was there when I was pregnant and everything was beautiful relaxing amazing and completely stunning the menu it’s realized already by the chef and we get many appetizers before the main and desert so you really pay for what tou have itAnd the price it’s completely ridiculous when you see the other similar (or notplacesNeed to come back ASAP
Over rated , a crime of hospitality. My first and last visit a Gin/tonic 40€ , when I asked the waitress salary , I was chocked to hear no more than 200€ a month ???Absolute a shame
This is an ubelievable place, I will go back to Marrakesh just to go again to dinner here. The restaurant is a typical Riad that has an arabic style decoration with ingedible lights that create a magic environment. The service is outstanding with waiters polite and professional and the food is a dream.
In a sense, you’re paying more for the experience than for the food. The surroundings are lavish and opulent, a nice setting for a romantic dinner. Come expecting to glut yourself with food, because you’re given a lot of it. We booked a table for two and were presented with enough food to feed four to six, easily (it’s a set menu, so you don’t get to choose. However, everything is included, drinks and all). The food itself was fine but nothing to write home about. A lot of it ends up going to waste because there’s simply no way you can eat all of it. Overall, it’s expensive but not unfairly priced for the amount of food and the ambience. But if you’re just looking for good Moroccan food and don’t care about indoor fountains, live Moroccan dinner music, and a complimentary rose for your date, go elsewhere.
We were expecting quality food but was a touristic one and we paid much for it (70 euro per person)!
WOW ! What an amazing evening .. amazing place, so beautiful. The staff are so nice and so welcoming, you’ll never want to leave. Big plus .. and I’m not one for live music, the live music here is outstanding ! Perfect night
Had our first evening meal here having booked in advance (recommendedIt was a fantastic dining experience, everything was very flavoursome and the portions were generous. Without giving too much away you get to taste everything from meze, tagine, cous cous and pastry dishes. First class service also, overall a very high end experience. Not cheap by Moroccan standards at around £60 per person but very good value relative to the experience compared to any large European city!
When you want to have the true Moroccan culinary experience, this is how it should be done. The stunning decor, ambiance & attention to detail to this place is super chic! The staff is warm, friendly & so welcoming, you feel at home. The welcoming drinks, followed by endless wine & the most delightful & delicious food, be ready to & fill yourself with pure culture happiness . This is must when in Marrakech.
You must not miss this wonderful experience when in Marrakech. It is a very special treat. Dress up, dont eat for a day, and enjoy. Two tips, first its not easy to find so best get a taxi, but if you do walk there is no signage outside whatsoever so look for the doorman. Second, its a fixèd price inclusive, everyone eats the same, Enjoy!
The worst food in Morocco. Every course was terrible. Poorly seasoned, tough chicken and lamb. Hokey fake Moroccan service with fiberglass tagines. Reminded us of Mama Leone’s in New York fifty years ago. All reputation, bad food, a tourist trap.
Simply the BEST restaurant in all Marrakech. Elegant, romantic, with all the attributes of a three Michelin star place. They serve a tasting menu with a lot of food (a lotso, I recommend that you can skip the lunch before dinning here. INCREDIBLE STAFF AND PLACE !
Food tasty as hellTraditional Moroccan cuisine in very authentic place
We had a super fun night at Dar Yacout during our Marrakest stay. First - you will leave completely stuffed. Second, you will probably leave drunk. Overall we thought the price was very fair considering the setting, the enterainment and the food and drink. A little tricky to find late at night on your own but we made our way and loved the visit. Cheers
Beautiful sunset viewed from the rooftop. The food was excellent for the end of trip dinner.
Would recommend it to anybody visiting Marrakesh. Authentic Moroccan cuisines experience. Upon arrival the staff showed us around the Riad; the rooftop, the middle floor where we had drinks, then the lower floor where we had dinner. The staff was exceptionally professional and welcoming. The food was plentiful, diverse and delicious. Great vibe with live band playing traditional music.
Like many others that have described before, plenty of food and drink with a set menu. However, the lemon chicken we had exploded with lemon flavor and had our group of 10 trying to guess how they were able to infuse that lemony flavor since none if use have been able to do that on our own. Lamb was extremely tender and melt in your mouth. Not the highest quality of wine but the never ending pour and extremely tasteful food made up for it.
Great place but unfortunately bad morrocan food. I’ve been to many morrocan houses and they cook much better than what I tried on Dar Yacout.
Best place to impress someone. Amazing food, service and music. 1 of my top 5 restaurants in Marrakech.
Wow. What can I say. We didn’t really know what we were getting ourselves in for, but so happy we visited. I won’t ruin any of the surprises apart from letting you know it’s 700 Dirham for 5 courses and as much booze/drinks as you want. The service and decor was absolutely delightful. Highlight of the trip to Marrakech.
Amazing prix fixe Moroccan meal. More food than you can possibly eat and endless wine.
Stellar facility. Be sure to get beverage on roof; appears often closed. Exquisite palace-like decor. Great service and care. Food good, but not special. Go here for ambience, food satisfactory.
Just got back from the restaurant. Or should I say tourist attraction? Fixed menus (70 euro pp!! Cheap wine included...in a very romantic but touristy setting. Food and dishes and ambiance are all so very typically and old school Moroccan, its obvious Dar Yacout is catering for rich (European andAmerican tourists who like to be wowed by a great show, and pay good money for it. But is it authentic, honest cuisine? A friendly place I would like to recommend to family and friends? Absolutely not. Sorry guys.
This is an amazing experience, you pay about £60 per person but all food and drink is included. You get more food than you could ever eat but we were told that they help the poor so it doesnt go to waste. This restaurant serves traditional Moroccan food, it has live music and its also very theatrical a must see.
The location is a bit unimpressive, between the “Souks” but once you get there, you realize the place is spot-on.We (girlfriend and Iwere greeted with free wine and nuts and then taken to our table. We then had our personal waiter and he was very attentive. Live music was there, too, and it was great. The meals (~ 6 courses I would saywere amazing... not only top class but also huge portions. Actually maybe a bit too huge. (The group of 4 next to us basically had the same amount.)The price for all of this was 1’400 Dirham which is very expensive in Morocco (you can also dine for 120 Dirhambut still bargain from a European’s perspective, compared to what you get.I would definitely recommend this location.
Although the entourage is enchanting, there was live music with excellent African and Moroccan musicians, this restaurant gives you for 700 DH per person fixed price no value for money. The reception is unfriendly asking you if you are willing to pay the price and faking there is a need for reservation while nobody is there. The food is okay but not really spectacular. The menu is not à la carte but fixed. There is a mismatch between swinging African and Moroccan music and the stiff atmosphere present amongst the traditionally dressed servants who move like anxious actors in a failed play. The restaurant serves way to much food so half of it can be thrown away. I wouldn’t recommend going there unless you’re a person who likes to eat much, sit up and watch a compulsory play.
Food, service and building are amazing! Make sure you take a taxi as the place is a bit in the middle of nowhere during the night.. best restaurant in Marrakech if you want to eat some traditional foodddd!
No! Lets start...1. Its 700 per person which includes wine and a great deal of waste.2. It all went down hill from when we got there. Locals loitering outside heckling and asking for money for pointing to where the restaurant was.3. The guide outside wouldnt let us in without us confirming we were happy to pay 1400. Thats after frowning that we didnt have a reservation.4. When we got in, the manager was very dismissive when we asked what we get as part of the courses. Place was also empty, so asking for reservations at the door is a nice little trick.5. Try to keep to main roads on your way out of the hotel.6. If youre looking for something local and different then try Latitude 31 thats 30 seconds away on top of the road, for a similar yet amazing experience at 350 per person try Ksar Essaoussan thats 10 minutes walk away.
very cool place and perfect atmosphere for diner. The only thing I found negative was the plate sizes did not match to the number of people at the table. Weve been 3 but the food size was their general 6 ...... way too much. But generally, roof top is awesome. Cocktails are included and diner is fixe price. Best night in Marrakesh there.
An oriental themed restaurant with nothing else to show. The food just wasnt good enough to justify its exorbitant price tag. The starters were a hit and miss, The chicken was plain and the some of the meat dishes were not tender at all.But what i find most disturbing with the whole experience was the amount of wastage. Other reviewers have warned that we might not be able to finish everything, but for a table of 2, we did not expect to be served 8 ppl portions for every course. We noticed a group of 5 next to us being served the same portion as us, and even they couldnt finish half the plate.Sadly i couldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone even though i do give a high rating to the interior design and atmosphere. The whole food concept is so pretentious and out of touch with modern dining etiquette. There isnt really a good enough reason to serve your customers such big portions without the quality to support it. The whole experience just appeared unsophisticated and arrogant.
Beautiful place, blew our minds it was that pretty. Food was good but be warned, there is way too much of it. Had the multiple courses with endless wine. Staff were nice but the waiter didnt explain anything and just kept serving, which added to the fun. Food was good but not mind blowing and was quite steep compared to other restaurants 700mad person but worth it in my opinion
Ambience and musicians fantastic but food average. Still 5 stars as a very special place
Fantastic experience. Dont be afraid to not finish a plate, there is loads of food with every course. Live music adds great overall ambience. Will definitely revisit.
Wonderful experienced. Booked dinner at 8.30pm for two. Arrived early and watched the sunset from the rooftop before being seated poolside for an amazing dinner. Go hungry there was soooo much food. The whole experience was lovely, staff very attentive and the setting very romantic.
