112 Draycott Ave, Chelsea, London SW3 3AE, Charef
Italian mainstay for a well-heeled clientele, known for people-watching and classic cuisine.
Basic, tasteless and highly overpriced food. Only 1 dish out of £160 bill was alright. Very good service tho.
The food is good. But the attitude of the receptionist is unacceptable, not kind, not welcoming, and a little bit rude. I have been to lots of pretty restaurants in London and this is the first time I felt like I have been disrespected like this. However, the bartender and waiter are nice. Pretty decoration.
A fantastic place to eat with food thats worth the price tag. Friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere. It gets busy for dinner so make sure to book a reservation ahead of time! The best thing I had here was the octopus carpaccio, you have to try it if you go here! Cocktails here are also wonderful, the passion fruit spritz was to die for.
Overpriced vapiano quality food, pasta was SO overcooked and meat was rubbery. Drinks were extremely watered & terrible tasting. To add insult to injury, we found a hair in the food.
Gorgeous place with Christmas decorations. Risotto was perfect.
Cosy dinner spot in the neighborhood. Love the grilled octopus and courgette frittis
The decors are so romantic!! Foods are very authentic Italian and delicious as well. The tiramisu has very rich smell of wine.
Nice place, ambiance for Italian’s food lovers
Wonderful as always. Happy vibes, excellent service and great food. We always love it here.
Andre is a top class waiter. The food was amazing. The service was really good. Birthday lunch for brother was one to remember. Would recommend and would go again
I love this restaurant. Friendly staff. Joyful atmosphere. Feels like you are transported to Portofino for a meal. The cheesecake is the cherry on top! Enjoy!
Absolutely AMAZING experience here. Excellent service. Excellent food! Would highly recommend. Our waiter/bartender Giovanni was really amazing. So helpful and gave such great recommendations. He really made our experience! This is the best Italian I’ve had in London. The service at the bar seating was incredible. Will definitely be back!
The food at Daphne’s didn’t disappoint. I had the vegan option of rigatoni in a tomato, garlic and basil sauce with aubergine. It was delicious - I wish I’d gone for the larger option!
Mhh the food was excellent, the helpful service, the idyllic and romantic location. I enjoyed Daphne’s very much. Even with my (difficult to handle)food allergies, the service team just handled it accurately. Will come again for sure. You will find Italian food at its best modern and delicate cuisine in London.
Gone downhill since covid. They have jacked up the prices and the service has got worse. I genuinely feel ripped off now. Sad it used be a great restaurant, now it’s a instagram location that over charges. Average service, okay food and a big price tag.
Wanted to book a table for 10 people for a get together. Contacted the events team to hire the private space and was told our group was too small (minimum 24So called the restaurant to book a table and was told they won’t make bookings for tables over 7 people. So essentially they wouldn’t be able to host a group of between 7-24 people EVER! Won’t bother booking a table for a group of any size in the future to be honest, will go elsewhere!
Been coming to Daphnes for many years .. service really gone down hill.Rushing you to order and forgetful on items like wine had to prompt the waiter twice. Service here before always seamless. Find better at lunch than at dinner. Find the ladies on the front desk can be very stone faced and not welcoming.Food still is superb aside from issues above. For the standard of the restaurant service really cannot be faulted
Lovely staff, efficient service, great ambiance. Great Italian dishes. They serve wine by the glass, carafe or bottle, such a great idea.
Truly outstanding. Have been dining at Daphnes for quite a while but recently had our wedding reception here as well. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere and interior delightful and the service just superb. Cant recommend highly enough.
Great lunch and we spent over 4 hours enjoying the afternoon here. Had lobster spaghetti and a couple starters. Well cooked lobster but shame the pasta was not freshly made in house. Fried 🍤 and courgette were a bit salty. Great wine list! 😁 We will be back to try other dishes soon. Great service.
Hugely disappointing meal. The service was good, but we had the most dreadful seats. Sat between two noisy tables. Which could have been forgiven if the food was of the correct standard. The starters were lack lustre, and it was downhill for there. The lobster spaghetti was bland over cooked, watery and had no flavour. The drinks (cocktailsagain very poor and overall it was an extremely mediocre experience. Given the price, it’s not worth it. We will continue to go to Cecconi Mayfair or Francos where the food and drink is what you’d expect. As someone who lives locally and travels to Italy 5-6 times a year this is not good food.
Lovely service very attentive, food was delicious. I struggle being lactose int so they were really helpful in recommending me food that would be best for me. Lovely space and great atmosphere!
Overpriced and do not order a cocktail!!!We had finished our starter and the mains was minutes from coming to our table before the cocktail had arrived, disappointed that nothing was offered, the Matradee that sat us made us feel unwelcome and inconvenient for wanting a table, the one positive was the waiter that served us was very friendly. Would not recommend nor would return!
Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff.Foodwise: baked aubergine with tomato and mozzarella as a starter was great. Veal Ragu Rigatoni was fantastic. Risotto with Black Truffle, definitely NOT worth the price.
Last minutes reservation and add people but gentlemen on phone really find space for us to accommodate our reservations (thank you)And when we get there, Salvatore at bar gentleman looked after us really nicely and made our evening really special…..Food is of course great but Salvatore made our evening really better 🙏🏼highly recommended
Really nice restaurant! The interior is lovely! Extremely nice if you visit during Christmas when everything is nicely decorated. The food was delicious especially the ravioli!!Would definitely recommend it.
Food was very good and service was attentive. Quite overpriced in my view and hence only 4 stars
If your looking for a official day out i would definitely recommend Daphne’s for a day out
A Chelsea classic. Daphnes is an absolute class act. Incredible hospitality from the team there, unique atmosphere and faultless food/drink.
Arrived for our booking and was given a choice of tables - very welcoming staff - good selection of drinks and a good varied choice on the menu - food well presented and hot - service was excellent
I must have missed the atmosphere that people talked about. The staff were indifferent at best. You were not made to feel welcome at all. Waited 15 minutes to even have our order taken yet tables around us had multiple servers attend to them. The restaurant was not busy as it was early (5:00 pmfor dinner. The food itself was very good.. Presentation was also very good.I was hungry so I ordered the dinner size ravioli and a starter. I came away still hungry and I am not a big eater. For the price that we paid I expected much more. The overall experience was soured by the service we received. Food was excellent portions small.
Well known restaurant with much character and history. Lots of fish on the menu. Its not cheap; £38 for the steak and £6 for a 330ml bottle of Italian lager when I visited. Theres a service charge too. A delightful conservatory which seats around 50 is at the rear. Should you wish to dine in this part of the restaurant you will need to book your table in advance as its frequently full to capacity. Nice place for a treat or celebration. Definitely for the well healed ...
Beautiful restaurant. I tried the burrata to start with and my friends got the carpaccio. Burrata was nice, but would’ve been nicer with a bit more of that bread.Tried the risotto for mains, and it was a bit different to what I was expecting (as I usually go for mushroom risottos), but was delicious nonetheless and I’d recommend ordering the large plate as the small may be too small. My friends ordered the linguine with crab (small), spaghetti with lobster (smalland spaghetti with crab (large). They all liked what they ate, though haven’t tried them myself, I can’t vouch for them.We ordered zucchini fritters as a side dish and it was delicious!!!! I’ve never had them before (surprisingly), and I regret that!2 complaints: found a tiny spider in my friend’s rosé (don’t know whether they brought it to us like that or if it fell from the ceiling above while it was on the table - we were sat indoors). Second, it is difficult to get the staff’s attention to the table.
This place is absolutely excellent. I came here as part of a wedding reception, and I can’t recommend this place enough. Firstly, the place is beautifully decorated. The staff are also incredibly gracious and friendly, and go out of their way to accommodate you if you can’t have certain food items. The food itself was absolutely delicious. In particular the fish and cheesecake is amazing. I would definitely come here again.
I really had good experience here. Food was delicious, service was excellent. Decoration of the restaurant is amazing 💫
Eating at Daphne’s is always a memorable occasion. We have enjoyed everything that we have ordered thus far. We definitely recommend the Spaghetti all’ Astice and the Ravioli di Mozzarella for the mains. And definitely end the meal with the best tiramisu in London.
Came here over Christmas and the decor was beautiful. Our waiter was Orestis who was really polite, friendly, helpful and professional. Food was average. We had the vegetarian ravioli and penne in a cream sauce. We were sat outside and inside was very packed. We went inside to take pictures but the female waitresses were extremely rude. Wouldn’t be returning or recommend to anyone.
Enjoyed dinner at Daphnes restaurant. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. Food was absolutely delicious. We had carpaccio and burrata as a starter& rigatoni, mushroom risotto, veal Milanese, fried zucchini with Lemon as a main.Everything was beautifully presented and yummy. Would definitely recommend for special occasions.
If you want to feel special you should go to Daphne’s. The atmosphere, the elegance combined with traditional and the welcoming staff attracts me inside even though I was not hungry. The reception staff are very welcoming and accommodating and I managed to get a table in between the reservations. I was advised about the menu and about the wines which helped me to choose and enjoy a delicious dinner. I moved at the bar after the dinner to finish my glass of wine and the bar tender was very attentive too. Even that the place was full and every one was talking, laughing , eating and drinking, the place gives you that inside feeling of calm and happiness. It’s like you stepped into a different world where everything combines perfectly… ahh and the olive oil delicious. I never felt so good having dinner alone. Thank you.
Wow! Such a beautiful restaurant 10 mins walk from Cheshire was decorated so beautifully ,three course meal with drinks was absolutely delicious, staff were so friendly and welcoming, a must to visit if in this area
Enjoyed a delicious meal where the service was really good despite it being very busy.We enjoyed the tiger prawns and the scallops for starters. For mains we enjoyed sea bass and finished it with a lovely vanilla cheesecake with strawberries and mint.I will be returning that is for sure.
One of the best fine dine Italian restaurants in London. I loved my prawn salad, truffle ravioli but what blew my mind was the peach sfoglia almond ice cream with honey. The ingredients were so fresh and the service was impeccable. Warm and welcoming ambience. I would highly recommend this place.
Cant really believe I paid £25 for some undercooked pasta... Ive cooked tesco spinach and ricotta pasta better than this.It was also very busy and crammed in with the obvious focus being on shoving as many people in to make as much money as possible rather than a pleasant and special experience for the diners, which, given the exorbitant prices I believe to be grossly unfair. I also felt the waiters were very overbearing which may just be a norm for these kinds of places but personally didnt like - it was as though they were trying to prove that they did indeed deserve their ridiculously high service charge but it just seemed forced and fake instead.Admittedly I dont normally eat out at places like this so maybe this is what rich people love (?!but this has certainly put me off going to high caliber restaurants entirely as I felt very uncomfortable the whole time and genuinely upset to have to pay such an insane price for an experience that I thoroughly disliked.
Probably worthwhile going just to see the Christmas decorations!!! Service is very good, formal but not overwhelming. Good wine selection. Food is up to standards for the price. Well cook well presented.
Great service and food - we enjoyed our octopus carpaccio, burrata and lamb (so soft!). Lively yet not too noisy atmosphere. Enjoyed every minute. Definitely going back - although it’s not cheap!
Hands down one of the best place Ive been to for an occasion. Staff were 10/10 food was seriously so good 10/10 location is very good as well. & The atmosphere is top notch. If you are looking to take someone out for a meal or a occasion then 100000% you need to visit this place.
Delicious food and lovely atmosphere with awesome wine list. Sat outside. Very good service. A bit too pricey still but worth the great experience. Have crab linguine!
A really lovely, delicious and enjoyable meal in every respect.Great service, helpful friendly and attentive. Felt really comfortable with the covid precautions, and temperature was taken at the door.
Nice little small Greek place serving authentic food. Everything tasted amazing, the staff was very friendly, the menu had an amazing range and all the facilities were clean. All in all very good. We had a lovely evening. The reason im giving it 3/5 is that it is overly expensive for what it is and the price for the dishes the bring is overinflated. The quantities are rather small. Two skewers of chicken kebab for £15 as an example. Slightly ridiculous .
This is an incredible place for Italian. From the moment you walk in you know theres going to be a little something special. From the cosy setting, through to the separate room with the fire place, all the front of house are knowledgeable and attentive yet remain in the background. The focus is on the food and making sure youre comfortable. Its white truffle season, so for my dads birthday we went for the tagliatelle with white truffles and were not disappointed. To be honest one of the stars were the gamberonis in the antipasti! Absolutely divine, a must order. Ill be back again soon :)
