Dante's Gourmet Burrito - Burrito restaurant in Peterborough, Canada
If you want an incredible burrito eating experience, this is the place for you! Highly recommend the barbacoa!
A great place for burritos in Peterborough.
Good burritos. Good size and great flavour. Will definitely be going back.
A friend recommended this place to me a year ago and it has been hands down one of the best recommendations I have received for a food place. If you have not tried a burrito from them you are missing out. The flavours of the meat, will have you thinking of a home made meal made with home spices. The sauces which are made in house pack a punch. If i could give more stars I would this places is a 10/10 (and I am normally not someone impressed by takeout food). The customer service is amazing, from the chefs to the individual who work in the front. This restaurant did something for me today that I have never gotten from anywhere else. When I was experiencing issues with my delivery service I got first hand assistance from the owner who was more then helpful and went the extra mile (literallyto make sure I got my order. Even after all of that he did not want to take a TIP. But, yes they have the best burritos I have personally tried. Go and try one p.s the Barbacoa bowl is 12/10..thank you once again ππππππ
Just had my first Dantes burrito and it was great! Went for the carnitas and it was really good quality and flavour. The sizes are HUGE - regular was the size of most places large (and only $11!). Toppings were fresh and guac included. Missed the option of refried beans, but thats OK. Oh and the staff were lovely and helpful. Definitely coming here again.
Best burritos in town, great tasty menu.Great staff
Cheap on toppings and nasty. Sorry Boyz I love giving 5 star reviews when its worth it not when the food is mediocre, specially when you ask for a good review
By far the best burrito in town. Possibly the province. The garlic and habanero sauce is lights out. If you are looking for a good burrito, go get the Barbacoa. You wont be dissapointed!
The best burrito place in town, friendly staff! Iβve been going here since highschool!
Some of the Best burritos Ive had in my life. My eyes began tearing up from the bliss. Will be back weekly
Great staff, portions more than you can eat at a sitting comfortably and I like it that way.try the barbaquo(?)best Ive found between here n bc.
The Ultimate Customer Experience.Hello fellow Peterborough Foodies:Just got back from Dantes a student favourite im guessing but I do go by frequently, and always the best service and burritos galore. The manager was right there, and the girl behind the counter was exceptional. The best sliders in town folks.
The food is always fresh and so good! Friendly service. I used to go more often when I worked downtown but will be making a point to go regularly again. Thanks Doug and crew for being awesome!
First time at Dantes and wont be the last! Great food and great portions and a burrito that held together to the last bite!!! A shop with real Canadian values! Thanks You!
We just had burritos from Dantes for the first time and they were excellent. Will definitely be ordering again.
Really healthy huge servings. Amazing taste. So many options. The ppl are wonderful. Take out delivery with skip or pick up. Def recommended
I feel like Im in Mexico. Great great Burritos. And very filling. The young woman gave good suggestions. Thank you for being there. Always a pleasure. Gordon A Stout
Alot of food for under 10 bucks. Very clean, Friendly staff. Couldnt make up my mind so I bought 6 of them! Lunch, dinner, breakfast all good....Support locally owned small businesses.
My partner and I tried Dantes for the first time today. God is real. Heaven exists. We both agree, it was the best burrito weve both EVER had. And then we went back to get another one for dinner (actually). If you pass up on this place, youre doing yourself dirty. Best. Ever.
It pains me to leave a 3 start review for what used to be my favorite burrito place in town. But the quality or I should say the taste has been off in a recent while. Iβve talked to few other friends about the same and they share the feeling. Gonna try it in few months again, hoping I can get that kick out their burrito again.
This is the best place in town to get burritos Iβve made trips into town just for one of their burritos and when I mean a trip I mean I drive an hour from up Northπππ, they have a great variety of meats and toppings as well as dressings, take the time to stop in and grab one to go, you wonβt regret it, I guarantee
Decent place for burritos in PTBO. Flavour lacking on the barbacoa. Toppings were fresh and crunchy. Rice was good. Sauce was delicious.Didnt like the price. $27 for 2 burritos. Its a good spot that Im happy to recommend but I probably wont be back.Staff were friendly and following covid protocols.
The rice isnt dry but also not soggy. The flavor is amazing and I definitely love the customer service everytime. I do wish they had dairy free options for cheese though.
Every time Ive been, theyre so polite and accommodating, not to mention the food is just fantastic, very fresh ingredients with authentic seasonings and spices. Go here every time Im craving a burrito!
Iβll be visiting every time I am back in Peterborough! Other chains cannot be compared to the burrito I ate at Danteβs. I will be disappointed by all other burritos when I return to my home town.
Omg I love Dantes so much! The burritos are massive, the different meats are all fabulous (but the chorizo is my fave), the sauce selection is stellar (habanero & garlic....divine!), and guacamole is no extra charge!
Tried this restaurant after my cousin highly suggested it to me, and I was not disappointed. The burrito was fantastic and different than the ones I am used to getting.I think the ingredients are a lot fresher than your average burrito chain would have.
Ive been coming to Dantes for years and these guys have their burritos down to perfection. Their stuff tastes better than some of the authentic burrito places in Toronto. I mean the ones that have Mexican owner / operators. The flavours are excellent and I have never seen a soggy vegetable or dried out meats on their counter. Everything is always fresh. This is one of the best values in Peterborough and so consistent.
Good burrito but experience ruined by an overzealous employee who drilled me on whether i was a customer when i asked to use the restroom. I can understand you might have a problem with a bus terminal across the road but think of a better way to say it. Better yet, just assume i could be a customer and hospitality wins customers over. Ive been several times while waiting for the GO bus. Will think twice before going the next time.
One of the best burritos I have ever had. What an absolute hidden gem in Peterborough. You have to eat here. The barbacoa is the best I have had in years. The staff is friendly and polite, really great. Wholeheartedly recommended.
Ive had my share of burritos around the world, and Dantes now holds a special place as one of the very best. Ordered a regular braised beef with the works. Decent size and will fill you up, but wish I got the large based on taste alone. Every ingredient was at its best. The staff was also awesome! Will definitely come back next time Im in Peterborough. 6/5 stars
The worker who made my burrito was very uncomfortable to talk to, he kept trying to flirt with me while taking his time to make my food. The food itself might have been good, but he puts way too much sauce on it which almost made me feel sick. Not to mention that he rolled it into almost a ball that fell apart instantly
Food was nice, but it took me a near 10 minutes to get served, while there was barely anyone else in the store because the one man I saw who wasnβt in the kitchen was on his phone behind the wall. When I was pointed out by his coworkers, he only then came to make my burrito. And then he took nearly my whole lunch break just to roll it up and take it to the till. Would only go back if there was better service.
Use to be my go to place for burritos since the last 7 years... However, quality is not the same. The taste is different everytime not consistent at all... And every person working there makes it differently... Ingredients are not the same in regards to flavour....better options out there.
Nametags are not present, so pardon my lack of name knowledge. The man who served me for the past about two times Ive been there, was extremely slow. Just about every other employee that Ive had the pleasure of being served by, are speedy, and prompt. Not to mention that those two times Ive received the wrong order/was made incorrectly. Everything from the burrito falling apart, to a lack of base ingredients. While everyone else was a pleasure, I do not believe that I will be coming back, if they continue to mess up orders like this.
The food is beyond great. But I cant believe one of the workers is still there. I went to school around there a couple years ago and I went back to take my sis to uni and that woman is still there. I was served by a small brunette who was just so nice and made my food amazing and was kind. Its like she runs the whole front counter. This woman with purple hair and lots of piercings is the worst worker there. Hair dye and piercings mean nothing to me; but she is lazy, gets your order wrong all the time. Doesnt listen. And is rude to other employees and extremely rude to customers. Kids at uni dont want to buy anything from her and many times not order at all if shes the only one working. She makes your food sloppy, and argues when she gets the order wrong. There was a big line up and the small brunette with the glasses was running the whole front until overwhelmed she asked for help. Because the other woman felt like organizing and playing around in the register while there was a large lineup of customers. When the younger brunette asked for help; the purple haired woman gave a huge sigh and said I MEAN SURE I GUESS SO... customers just looked at eachother and the guys from the uni all just gave faces to eachother because they knew they were gonna ger bad service. Then went to customers and sighed saying "k whadda you want". She made the order wrong like usual. And when asked a question she said "well I mean if you look behind you there is a board that says that stuff". Even still with "the board that says that stuff", she didnt answer the question, she couldnt follow the ingredients, made the burrito wrong with the wrong meat and ingredients and then argued that its specifically what we asked for. She didnt once ask what toppings we even wanted. What a horrible woman. I hate eating at my favourite place because of her and my family and friends just refuse to go because shes so terrible and sarcastic and rude to other employees and customers. Shes lazy and doesnt keep clean standards, and the order is a l w a ys wrong. I keep wanting to come back hoping she is fired and we would all come back more if she wasnt working that day. Somehow she has survived working more than a few months. My goodness though I have never seen such terrible, rude service. Young brunette girl with the glasses needs some better help. Poor girl. Purple haired woman is just an awful witch to everyone and customers know it. I feel terrible saying so but all the students know it.
Its real easy to win best burrito in town when the competition around the corner is a Thunderdome of violence and garbage, and the one on Lansdowne is a bland chain restaurant attempt. Its not so easy to beat out every other burrito place in Ontario Ive ever been to though. Bravo.
Best burritos Ive ever encountered. Take the word of a self proclaimed burrito connoisseur; you wont find any better. Excellent topping selection and always fresh. Staff is friendly, food is well worth the cost. Do yourself a favour and ask for the habanero puree.
Delicious ingredients, excellent service and decent prices. I live out of town, and always make a point to stop by Dantes when I am in Peterborough. I have yet to find as good of a burrito anywhere else.
Literally the best food place not only in Peterborough, not only in Ontario, not only in Canada, but dare I say it? The universe. If we are to make contact with extra terrestrials π½ it will be because they are searching for these incredible burritos π―. The true final frontier. Dantes was the first place that I ate in Peterborough because it was across the street from the Greyhound station and I knew from that fateful evening that I would never need to go to another restaurant or grocery store again
Ive been going here for years, and I can always count on great quality and customer service.customer service: above and beyond, the owner takes the time to talk and get to know youatmosphere/work area: clean, spacious, plenty of room to eatthe food: great variety of meats with great recipes, good variety of toppings and sauces. Always deliciousprices: Not the cheapest burrito in town, but probably the most solidhours: open late!
Food here is very good. Not one bad experience yet with the place and weve been going fairly regularly. The burrito from hell ( largest size optionis enormous weighing in at nearly 3 pounds total. They even have habanero paste on request. Only thing i could suggest for this place is if they had refried beans as an option too but other than that no complaints. 5/5
My favourite burrito place in town. Beats chain restaurants like Mucho Burrito hands down. Standard prices, nice selection of meats and toppings. I like that they basically have small, medium or large (The Burrito From Hellto choose from in case youre feeling super hungry or just looking for a little something. The staff are also always really nice. It doesnt look like much from the outside but the quality is there and thats what matters.
Have been visiting Dantes for years now. Doug, the owner, is very involved and very friendly, often greeting me. Staff (the majority of themare very personable and friendly. Food is always fresh and of high quality. Ive never had a burrito from Dantes that wasnt excellent!*Several years ago I had an issue with a Dantes staff member refusing a burrito customization request. I was very pleased and impressed by Dougs prompt personal email response to me. He runs a good operation.
Went there at a later time of the night around 10 open sign was still on assumed they were still open, girl was very rude about me knocking on the door to let them now if theyre closed they should turn off their open sign, horrible customer service.. This wouldnt be the first time I went there and the employees were rude. Their burritos lack in flavour anyway, its way over priced and give you a meal for a mouse. I dont complain much worked in a kitchen before customers come first, guess we cant always expect good customer service, wont be going here again.
Ive been coming here since they opened, Ive tried other burrito places in town and they dont even come close to the taste, service and most importantly the freshness! know where else compares. 5 star all day long!
Ate here with my wife and daughter. Two of us had burritos (both regular size, which were pretty bigand really enjoyed them; one had a quesadilla that was OK. Service was quick. The decor is pretty basic, but youre not really going here for the ambience. Will likely eat here again.
They fill the burrito til its bursting, theres tons of vegetables to add for your liking, 5 different meats all of which are quite flavourful, different salsas and sauces. I dont agree with some of these reviews - its not all rice. They have more meat and veggies vs rice than the other burrito places in town, plus more flavour. They are ALWAYS friendly and very fast - a rarity! The employees seem to enjoy their time at work. By far the best burrito place in town in terms of both taste and service. The place is always clean and bright. What more can I say!
One of the things I definitely miss since leaving the Peterborough area is Dantes Burrito. Ive been to all the burrito places in Peterborough and this is my favorite. It used to be El Caminos but in the last year or 2 while theyve gone downhill.\List of the Pros:- The selection is unrivaled. More toppings available than any other burrito place Ive visited. Also 5 different sauces to choose from, most burrito places have at most 2.- Fresh ingredients. I cant state this enough, everything is fresh.- The staff doesnt appear to hate their job. Theyre always welcoming or at least in a good mood. Occasionally a new hire may not be as much so but overall the attitude in there in very positive.- Theyre quick. If youre in a rush to get a meal during lunchtime this is a big plus.- They validate parking (before 6pm)- Guacamole is included, no paying extra for something almost everybody wants.- Student discount and stamp card, a nice discount for frequent customers.- Open late, great store hours. Open till 3:00am friday/saturday and 10:00pm every other day.\///Cons- I feel as though prices have gone up a bit, although they are still fair it no longer feels like a bargain. The stamp card helps with this however.- Attention to detail with the sauce. Sometimes instead of nicely covering the burrito theyll squeeze the bottle and it will come out in spurts, which dis-proportionally spreads throughout the burrito.- Tortillas are store bought, I personally dont mind whatsoever but others might.- Not a big fan of their cookies. Theyre OK tasting, but El Caminos is much better. Also they rarely make chocolate chip cookies, its almost always Double chocolate chip or White Macadamian. Brownies are OK too, nothing special but not a let down either.///I also like their meat more than other places, its slow cooked/marinated overnight and it just tastes better. I didnt include this as a Pro because it could just be my own preference but I think others would agree. Another Pro is their burritos are heat pressed rather than cooked in a convection oven, I dont know why but this makes it taste better but I think it does and it also prevents your burrito from unwrapping while you eat it because its sealed closed from the press.Chipotle also doesnt compare and Mucho Burrito is a joke in comparison. I seriously feel as though Ive become a burrito snob since I really have a hard time enjoy any other place now and when I re-visit the Peterborough area I go there almost every visit. To the owner, please start a chain! Unless it means a drop a quality, than just continue to be the diamond in the rough that you are :)
First off... I do not know what the rest of the people are talking about regarding the food and its not up to their standards. To them I saw go home and cook something that will meet your picky standards... if you dont want to do that well then stop complaining.Dontes Burrito is by far THE BEST BURRITO PLACE IN TOWN. I tried all of them and this place actually knows what they are doing. All their food is fresh and is always full of flavor. I will never eat another burrito from another place in Peterborough.Go Dontes Burrito Go...
