Dangnim Art Museum - Art museum in Asan, South Korea
Inspirational place to visit several times.
Beautiful place on top of the mountain with beautiful scenery
Very good
My second visit and certainly not my last. One of my favorite museums in the world. Everything is on so much harmony with nature and the James Turrell exhibition is absolutely mind blowing.
This museum is a whole experience. Lost on the middle of the mountains, you will discover a huge building signed by Tadao Ando. This building is so well thought and the collections displayed inside are very beautiful.
Beautiful architecture in a gorgeous natural setting with interesting art exhibitions and and a fascinating (reallyexhibition on the history of paper.
Amazing museum. I really recommand this museum. The design is unique, the view is breathtaking and the calm is fascinating.
Serene place made with stones. Its architectural mastery is worthwhile to visit along with some fabulous works of art displayed.
Beautiful place! In the middle of nature, japanese architect designed the whole place, mininalist, sober, poetic. Great exhibitions
Absolutely worth checking out, especially in order to see and experience the gorgeous architecture that harmoniously embraces the surrounding natures. The art exhibitions going on may seem to be a bit unfocused but they are enjoyable enough, Nam June Paiks piece being one of the key objects.
This is a fun place, the exhibits are really quite stunning, very interesting sculptures, I especially liked the interactive ones. Very modern.
Awesome museum! I liked the ambiance. The cafe area and the outside museum were stunning
Beautiful. Worth the visit. 19k minimum entry fee. The grounds are pretty. Drama MINE was filmed there and a few idols visited. It was on Koreas 2021 Top 100 attractions to visit too. Never heard of it until this year but if you are in the area, definitely go when there is greenery (spring to early fall)
Excellent experience that goes beyond museum and architecture. A beautiful Tadao Ando building.Highly recommended.
Best place ever. It shows the power of architecture.
The main attractions are the scenery, architecture, outdoor sculpture, and the light exhibit. Well worth the visit. Was lucky to come during the week, towards the end of the day when it was super hot, so very few people at the museum.
Good place to walk
Absolutely worth visiting - highly recommended to anyone interested in great architecture & arts
This museum has the best scenery over its elegant building. You can enjoy the splendid scenery drinking Hawaiian Kona coffee in the museum cafe. They were very expensive, though.
It was a good experience. I am no art lover so I dont know much and the art. However, I really enjoyed the scenery and architecture that they out into this museum. You dont come just for the art but for the vibe as well. A nice date destination in my opinion.
One of the most beautiful museums in Korea. You can pay only for the museum and the gardens and also make an extra payment for a solo artist exhibition. I recommend to stop at the terrace cafe to drink some relaxing tea enjoying the view and the nature
Loved the place!!! certainly its one of the places to visit in Korea. out of all the places/acitivies in Museum San the my personal best was enjoying the mt view out in the terrace with cup of coffee.
Went here with foreign friends in July and it was an amazing experience! Takes around 3 hours to get there from Seoul if you don’t have a car but totally worths it. I’d call it more of a park and exhibition complex than a museum to be honest. Love the nature and the trees there combined with the astonishing architecture. And the views! Mountains there are just breathtaking. We couldn’t stop taking pictures😅 In Korean SAN means ‘mountain’, so the name of the museum is not random:)You can also experience meditation sessions there and visit an exhibition. We were too late, so we missed it but there was an exhibition of an American artist James Turrell. The tickets are around 18.000-38.000 won depending on whether you want to visit exhibitions and participate in meditation sessions or you just want to enter the museum.Anyway, I totally recommend visiting this place. It’s better if you have a car, but even if you don’t, you can get there by ITX to Manjong station and then getting on the bus 51.Enjoy your trip!
Pretty museum but very expensive i guess. There are not enough chairs for all people who visit here. Most of the ppl cant enjoy scenery for long time while drinking coffee and eating some cake bcoz other ppl are dying waiting for you to leave(u can see from their faces). So i sat only for 30 min and just left.
Awesomeeeee, u can spend whole day. Great joy from amazing architect, nature, art, n museum itself. It has the best viewing cafe as well
Excellent Museum designed by Tadeo Ando. The James Turrell exhibition makes it worth a visit.
One of the hidden gems outside Seoul. Worth the two hour travel to this Museum and appreciate some of the best masterpiece of the modern architect, sculpture and exhibition of light.
Fascinating architecture by Tadao Ando
Very well maintained museum. Worth to visit. It would be better to prepare your own meals because the cafeterias do not hold much food. It takes max 2 hours to look around. Amazing view. Definitely recommended place to have nice rest.
If you an art and nature kind of person; this is the places to visit!!! With a breathtaking view and artistic work of art, you will love every inch of this place ☺️
It was my first time here. but I am pretty sure not last time. This museum was so different, I have been a lot of museums but this one was the best that I have ever been. I liked each corner here , it`s so aesthetic, would like to stay here for an hours to explore each corner. I put here a lot of photos so you can feel the atmosphere of museum. If you are in Wonju make sure to go here, otherwise you will miss really the best museum ever.
It is an artistic place with beautiful green scenery. No matter from the inside until outside it was perfect for every single photo and it is really Instagram worthy.
This is my first time seeing a museum combine with the nature! This is really great place 😍 you can have a lot of great photo inside and outside the museum. This also one of the tourist attractions that you have to visit if you come to Wonju 👍🏻
Museum SAN is a great museum definitely worth visiting. The view is astonishing, and the building designed by Andou Tadao is breathtaking as well. Five stars indeed!
Great place to chilling and admiring art installation and space! They are beautiful to take photos. They have cafe and art shop and galleries. Spend time with family to just admire nature!
I love this place but it would be better if they have more English materials.
San museum is one of worth seeing place in wonju full of natural scenery and plenty of amazing sculptures. It also contain paper gallery where you can see the origin of paper making in korea. Alot to historical things related to korea are present there.
Located in the middle of Oak Valley. Very serene. The collection of James Turrell will awe you so much!!! Defenitely worth a visit.
Yet another architectural masterpiece by Ando Tadao ~
When you want some loneliness away from busy Seoul, this is the place you must visit. Get fueled in meditation breathing in fresh air.
Awesome place. Absolutely worth visiting! It is stunning that such a piece of art stands in the middle of mountains, leading people to experience the true beauty of both nature and mankind.
Beautiful place with interesting expositions. Poor structure for non Korean speakers.
Visited yesterday (Dec 30 2018and it was sooo cold outside (around -9°Cbut inside was warm. The water as usually seen on the picture is not there (maybe because its winter and it will just freeze). Their are 2 kinds of Museum tour. The regular Museum tour cost 18000 won and the other one that includes James Turrell tour costs 28 000. It is far from downtown Wonju so for people visiting without a car it is advisable to take the Wonju tour bus (takes almost an hour from the bus terminal). Be mindful of the time table too. Also, they have a postcard that u can send for free. Not sure if sending abroad is possible though.
Beautiful place. Great architectures and understanding paper history was super nice.
Great architecture. Feels little like smaller version of the Getty museum in L.A California. A must visit if you are near Oak Valley resort
Very cool museum design by Ando Tadao. Not a super extensive collection, but its nice to enjoy the space and layout here.
Tucked away above an over priced golf course is an expensive museum with 3 incredibly maintained gardens and the best cafe experience Ive had in ages. The tickets are 28 for the full exhibition and 15 for just the permanent exhibition. The special exhibition closes at 5, so we could only enjoy the permanent one but its worth 15$ for the experience. The mountain view is spectacular. It feels so removed from the daily grind of the city. Its a great getaway. Surprisingly more families with little kids than expected. They have some interactive programs for kids if you go early, and some programs like concerts if you look at there schedule in advance.Highly recommend it. Only an hour or so from southern Seoul.
Beautiful architecture in the midst of a mountainous area. Scenery is great. However, there is absolutely nothing to learn or amuse inside the museum. Just a great place for instagram pictures. Definitely not worth the hefty admission price.
Great place for tranquility, but price of some juice in cafeteria is pretty expensive
Absolutely bowled over by this place. We got taken there and didnt know what to expect. Immediately, the design class of this place stood out. Owned by a local paper company, it provides a short and fascinating history of paper (a refreshing change from the iPad generation!). The added bonus was the works by James Turrell, which was an extraordinary exhibition of light and space. The coffee shop (using Royal Copenhagen culinarywas a good resting spot. Loved the visit. A great place to stop if driving from Seoul to the East Coast.
