Late-night, wood-clad eatery offering Korean street fare such as corn cheese & spicy fried chicken
First time here, amazing food and atmosphere, 10/10 would recommend. Dont forget to add the beer or soju
Amazing place and awesome food. Only negative thing is what the hell is up with the plastic to-go containers? Its 2022 you guys.
I would have to say the rice cake dish is my favorite. The fried chicken was ok.Overall I would say I still recommend this place.
Really enjoyed the food here! They have a large variety of Korean dishes for anyone to enjoy! They can get very loud in there and busy so make sure to come early or prepare for a wait!
Good food, but it you do pickups, the wait time is 20mins extra. This had been consistent each time
Bing Bing Bab Way too oily, no veggies, not healthy k food
Incredible late night food full of flavor and spice. They are friendly and fast too.
Great food and soju
I m korean. Their food doesnt taste like koreN food at all
The atmosphere and energy here is fantastic. Add to that some really great food and you got yourself an amazing dinner and time with friends.Check this spot out, you won’t be disappointed
Came here with a party of five last week and split a bunch of appetizers and entrées no complaints about any of them at all and the service was great
I was greeted shortly after arriving and made a order. The staff was efficient and helpful. I plan to bring a few friends next time. Nice and lowkey.
It was my 1st time there. I enjoyed the seafood tofu stew. My friends and I ordered a pitcher of Soju and killed it. We had a good time as well. Definitely a must come back and hopefully with all our friends.
The true Asian dive bar experience for all ages! Get a double feature with fries and pick your protein. If youre not sharing, get the cheesy fried pork (unless youre lactose intolerant).
Great service. The girl that worked there did everything from bussing, taking orders, serving. Really good variety, and unique decor.
First thing to note is that if you arent a family style eater/drinker than this is not the place for you. Everything is made to perfection and I can honestly say there isnt another place like this one. One of the few Oakland restaurants that are still standing.
Good place, good food, good atmosphere and good service!
Rice cake platter with everything and kimchi pancake. Platter had potstickers, fish cakes, cut napa cabbages and soggy noodles. Spicy sauce wasnt overly sweet but didnt really blend with the food. Kimchi pancake was dried and didnt have much flavor. Need to dip in soy sauce to enjoy. Ban chan was okay.
Such a cool experience with delicious food, generous portions and decent prices. I love that you can get a pitcher of beer for only $19. I usually get the veggie and tofu udon stir fry and it is SO delicious. I also love the kimchi pancake.
Dan Sung Sa is a pretty popular destination during later weekday nights as well as weekends, starting from maybe 9:00 PM. It has amazing fried chicken, with the top choices coming in the form of spicy chicken and garlic chicken. Some other Yelp reviewers have mentioned the very-much in-demand corn cheese, but personally I believe it is a huge rip off at $8+ after tax and tip. I mean its just corn and cheese. Costs maybe 30 cents to make at home and youd be better off buying their spicy race cakes or pancakes, which are also great choices.

Its tastes extremely similar to store bought chicken tenders, and the breading on the outside is so poorly made/fried that I thought I was eating shrimp tempura. While Im a big fan of shrimp tempura, the particular taste is not something you want from your chicken. So hit this place up if you want to satiate your Korean fried chicken cravings while downing yogurt soju (which is priced at $38 before tax and tip btw). Great for big groups.Lastly, they automatically add 18% tip to your bill, so be careful of accidentally double tipping.
Late night Korean eats with a fun vibe. This place doesnt look like much from the outside, but I highly recommend! Staff are super on it and really friendly. Prices are good and the Hite beer can come in 2 liter bottles. What else can you ask for?
The food and service was great. Went on a Monday night and it was so empty. A good time to catch up with an old friend. We easily stayed for over an hour. Most relaxing restaurant I been to around here.
Great street food style Korean resturant. Very reasonable on cost and portions. Bring friends its family style.
My favorite Korean spot in the Bay, and not just for late night (although that’s a lot of fun, too). Highly recommend - I love taking friends here when they are visiting from out of town. The food is outstanding (bibimbap, spicy noodles, all the pancakes...and the atmosphere is also a unique draw. Check it out!!
Good food and good service with affordable prices. What’s not to like? I loved how it looked closed from outside but was a different world when we got inside. Cool posters on the wall, separate wooden booths. It was amazing. I loved it.
This place is an awesome experience. Great food with perfect hole-in-the-wall decor. Dive bar feels with good Korean comfort food. They even have sea snail salad!
Delicious and affordable. I love the private booth setup. Food was quick. We had the peach yogurt soju. Yummy.
Their food are very good and delicious. I love their corn cheese. This one is must order it
Don’t be deceived by the “is this a strip club?” exterior, this tiny but mighty Korean spot is a tasty hole in the wall on Telegraph Ave. the service is fast and the dishes are huge. I ordered the spicy seafood soup and it came in a swimming pool size bowl. Great place to go before going out and about Oakland 😁
Evening destination for a good Korean meal. The short ribs are a classic fav to not be missed along with the custom decor that will have you feeling like youre traveled to another destination. And dont forget the strawberry soju!!!
Great atmosphere, love coming here to eat and chill with family. Great food all around and you cant go wrong with Soju.
Had SO much fun! Definitely pushing booze with food (so whats the problem?and love the movie kitsch decor. Unfortunately, they dont have cook at your table Style Korean BBQ which would be really nice. But, the food is wonderful and the service was fabulous. Eat, drink, and be merry!
One of the most authentic Korean places Ive had in the Bay. I sat at the bar since I came alone, but the booths all look very private and cozy! The tofu soup had just the right amount of spice, and the side dishes served with the mains were very good. The kimchi was a great balance of sweet and spicy as well. On top of this the servers and bartender were all very kind. I will definitely be frequenting this spot in the future and bringing friends. Great service, great ambience, and great food; easily a 5 star rating for me.IMPORTANT NOTE: please do not listen to any and all ignorant people saying the water was dirty and "brown yellowish" from "coffee" or any other uninformed claims. Its barley water; any Korean will tell you that serving barley water is a surefire sign of a restaurant being authentic Korean, AND the stuffs super good for you. They also offer regular water too, just ask.
Food and service is surprisingly good. Kimchi pancakes are excellent, as is the mussle soup. Large menu with both dinner items and Korean bar snacks. Interior is decorated with Korean pop and music posters. Eat at the cozy counter or get a booth. Not easily found from the roadside, look for the mysterious sign in Korean script. The various Soju cocktails are excellent. Pitcher of beer available with various specials. Typically loud Korean music playing. Not for the faint of heart, but well worth it for the adventurous.
I really like this pace, used to be called the porno palace or something like that. They still have the porno fries on the menue. Though all the cheese and soccer sauce usually gets the better of my tummy. The food is delicious just make sure you have plenty of time as it can take a while for dishes to come out. Good selection of Soju, saki and light fizzy beer. Servers always seem to do their best, to it can be loud and very crowded at times. Portions are more than I can usually eat. Im a huge fan of the bibimbap here and the bulgogi.
Been here a few times before and I will keep coming back! Have never had a bad experience or bad food here. Everythings very rich in flavor. You will not be disappointed. Its almost like being in Korea but with American customers. Always order the soju cocktail: itll get you drunk!! Im not 100% sure what happened but I thought this place was called Porno Bar like in my picture but Google maps and Yelp have it as Dan Sung Sa. Either way, they still have porn on the walls and the quality has not changed. Im happy with it.
Dan Sung Sa is a consistently fun place to get a late bite. The food is also consistently good. Wait staff is friendly. I always know I’m going to have a good time & eat some good food whenever I go there. Love the place!
Great place to hang out with friends while eating, drinking. Loud music! ZERO STAR for giving us brown yellowish water! definitely from coffee coz we were tasting it. I asked my bf, do they add coffee flavor to their water? But they don’t coz when we asked for a second pitcher.....it was clear and tasteless! So I don’t trust on how they do food! How did they ended up giving us dirty pitcher unless they just grab it from dirty dishes. Overall, we are not coming back. Food is a little pricey for it’s location.
Food is yummy but expensive! $14 for bibimbop and $8 for the cheese corn (the dish should definitely be shared). Other dishes were even ore expensive, and $9 for French fries is the most I think I’ve ever seen... Mostly bummed because foursquare listed this as a top place for happy hour in Oakland and they do NOT have happy hour - heads up! Went for dinner at 6 on a Friday and it was super chill, not too loud and fine for conversation.
This is one of the best places to grab late night drinks and greasy Korean food. Everything I have tried is delicious. The staff is friendly and accomodating. It looks a bit skectchy like a dive bar from outside but I love the atmosphere once inside. There are definitely frequent car break ins so be cognizant of that. Given that, I love taking people here that are unfamilar with Oakland after hitting a few bars. It has a bit of an underground charm to it.
This is my favorite spot in Oakland for dinner and drinks. Always great food (favorite is the kimchi bipimbaband fun atmosphere. The drinks are awesome too, you can get soju (by the glass or pitcherand giant beers. The walls are covered with sexy Korean ads and place is filled with sexy people getting rowdy.
Great attentive service, well priced within generous portions. Food good but not exceptional. Avoid the while fried chicken, its dry and not particularly flavorful
We luv this restaurant, good food and a cool/ hip atmosphere, great service. The storefront/ face of building does not look like much. The interior is built out with individual semi private booths and a couple areas with community/large tables seating. I like the variety on the menu of different Korean food combinations/ different food creations. Im glad they are here in Oakland Ca. Great late nite eats. C-ya soon
Always fun at the porno palace. Ive been there several times and always enjoyed it. Service can be slow at times, so dont be in a hurry. Last time I had the spicy welk snail salad and seafood pancakes. Oh my... Delicious!
Late night porno food, serving until 2am. Beer and cocktails available by the pitcher, great Korean after-party food. Very loud inside, usually at least one or two large groups of young, attractive people. Reasonably priced, love this place.
Best hole in the wall in Oakland. So cool! Best wings Ive had!
Yogurt Soju, Bibimbop, Kimchi Pancake, Cheese Corn, Spicy Chicken Wings and Dubokki, Gizzards and 1.6 liter beer in a plastic bottle. Dishes and service were mediocre.
Good late night spot for drinks, can get pricey though. The food is alright, definitely have had way better Korean food elsewhere. The area is quite sketch, so check your car once in a while if you plan on staying a long time...
Ive had Dan Sung Sa several times before and last night, I have to say, this was THE place to go to if you do not want to go bar hopping yet want to get your drink on. Its located on Telegraph, not too far away from Downtown Oakland so this is also a great place to pregame. Came here to hang out with friends and celebrate and we started off with strawberry soju.In the review guidelines it states one shouldnt use profanity in the reviews so I would like to point out if this restriction wasnt implemented I would throw in some words; freaking fantastic would have to do for now. You couldnt even taste the soju because the strawberry was the perfect sweetness. The green apple soju was aiight. We got 3 pitchers of the soju, which came out to be $40 a pitcher each. We also ordered four bottles of beer, didnt know how much each bottle cost. The food we ordered was two orders of spicy chicken wings, corn cheese, two orders of chicken gizzards, two orders of kimchi fried rice, and noodles. Everything was stick-to-your-ribs delicious and flavorful. The chicken gizzards was unexpected, it tasted great, but when we ordered it a second time it tasted differently. The noodles came with rice cakes and those were chewy and spice and oh-so wonderful. The spicy chicken wings is one of their most popular items which no doubt holds that spot; crispy, sticky, and bursting with layers of flavor. The corn cheese complimented the chicken, and the kimchi added another dimension to the meal. The melding of the soju and food was like a ballet dance in a dark alleyway; beauty in a "shady" place. The total cost of food and drinks came to about a little over $300 between 8 people. It can get expensive if you did the math. The way I see it , you have a really solid dinner and drinks all conveniently in one place where there is seating for big groups and its not overly crowded. A big plus, its has a wonderful relax atmosphere to enjoy each others company. For Oaklands nightlife this place has to be in the books, if not its totally in mine.NOTE: Street parking only
