1.Room: clean and big space. Nice beach view .2.Food : breakfast there is variety of choices and please take note if u only going to speak time in resort , the is cafe here and bit pricey. If looking for cheaper food u need to walk to Damai food court.3. Nice environment for peace of mind and relaxation.love the beach view .4. Please take note no transportation from resort to airport. Will be double charge if hotel arrange transport for you due to no grab service .5. U need to pre arrange transportation or rent a car if u can drive. No last min transportation here almost need to wait 50min for the taxi driver to arrive and pick up and from Damai to airport will take around 1 hours. So please plan your trip early if u are not driving .
This hotel has seen better days. The bathrooms need some attention (bath not workingand walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbours. Service is friendly but limited and the facilities also need an upgrade which looks to be underway.
Was initially given a room in buildings on the hill. Everything was bare, aged, worn and unwelcoming. Air conditioner not working. No way to report that as the internal phone cord ended in 2 loose wires. Suspicious yellow/brown stains on all bedsheets. Managed to negotiate an upgrade (at a costto beachside chalet which was in a much better condition.
Nice place good service but need to renovate the rooms and upgrade the breakfast
So far the environment and room wise feels great, but we have to give less stars because 3 of our booked rooms seem to have broken air conditioner
Stayed here several times and its getting worse... The floor of the chalet were broken, quite dangerous for the kids... Mini refrigerator can be sent to the museum coz too old and did not functioning well, limited tv channels and the buffet spread was limited . Not much choice. I love the scenery.
High time for this place to get a much-needed upgrade not only facelift but the facilities. Services are generally good though choice of food/things to be buy can be more varied. Even the room service has limite choice despite slightly overpriced from other resorts in Malaysia. The new management has a very strict policy of bringing outside food or doing your own “cooking”. On the plus side the view is stunning especially during sun rise and sun set. Good escape from city centre as there is nothing much to see in this area unless you plan to visit the Sarawak Cultural Village.During our visit they do not provide bottled water in the room. As there is a water dispenser (Cowayon the hallway. I guess this is part of the plan to reduce single-use plastics.Be sure to bring extra towels if you have kids, they only provide 2. Max occupancy is 2 adults and 2 kids (under 12).
Wasnt the worst but the rules were SO SO strict. No wasting food at the breakfast buffet or youll pay rm25. Considering I paid for the buffet I should be able to do what I want there tbh. And you cant even bring outside food? What on earth, how would anybody eat in that case. And food were so pricey on the menu, it was RM54 for spaghetti bolognese??
Average experience. Rooms are okay but maintenance can be better. Service is direct but not particularly welcoming.Breakfast was decent. Spa services were good and worth it. Had a good drink at the bar and great views.
Spacious room with 2 supersingle beds...perfect for couples with 2 kids. Go early for breakfast before crowds stream in. Enjoyed the laksa Sarawak but the mee kolok is salty to me.
If u stay here try to get room near the beach. The hiltop view is nice but the room there is old and in bad condition already.
Go to place for all Kuchingites. One of the last standing resorts with decent beach in town. The nearby ones are under renovation or closed.Rooms need a refresh. And upgrade.
Nice breakfast buffet served. The room is spacious and near to the beach side within walking diatance. The staff here is helpful and friendly. Will re-visit here again definitely next time.
Usually people come here for a weekend away with family but this time Im here for team building. Overall the facility and service is good. The hall is a good size for 30++ participants. Ample space for indoor activities. One thing that needs improvement, too many flies in the cafe.
Generally, the facilities are quite run down. My room air conditioner is not working. They have to move my room after dinner. At midnight, my new room air conditioner decided to turn itself off, I cant turn it back on, unless I do a power reset. I then have to wake up to do a power reset every ~1 hour for the whole night. 5 times!!! I dont get much sleep at all!! I complained about it, customer service offered no compensation, says we can offer you a late check out at 1pm (instead of 12pm).I really regret booking this resort, My stay in this resort has been stressful and frustrating. I dont need them during my vacation. I wish you good luck if you book a room for a holiday. By the way, they only provide 2 towels per room, if you are on vacation with your children, please bring your own towel!!!I will never come to this place again.
Really nice beach, but the management here is very strict and not customer friendly. Really disappointed with the new policy, not recommended for people in a large group as they charge people in excessive amount. Did not inform the customers about the extra charges when bringing in extra people beforehand.
Did not meet my expectation. Rooms are very old and no proper maintainance. I hope they could have put more effort in it. Meanwhile, it seems like they do not really care about the guest experience but instead trying to make money in every part of it (This includes requesting toilet roll, mineral water & list goes on- chargeable at RM 3 min). One of the highlights was bon fire dinner. If you are going to stay here, it is highly recommended. Experience was good but food just average. Do bring an insect repellent to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.Overall, 3 stars. Average. Only choose this resort when other resorts or hotel nearby fully booked. Not worth the price paid.
Booked chalet room. The resort has very strict policy for bringing outside food and make sure you do not create a big mess in the room or they will charge you. It is definitely Value for money . The view was great too. I like the Queen size bed. Very soft and nice
Your experience of this resort will very much depend on the type of room youre in - make sure you know what youre booking before you go ahead with it. Wed booked a "king bed hillview room" for nearly RM400 a night, and found ourselves in a very basic, budget style room that looked onto a carpark and the back of another building, smelt strongly of mould and had stains on the sheets. Wed already had to change rooms because they first put us in a room with twin beds (next door to the one we moved to), so we were reluctant to complain again, but after we had a cockroach in the bathroom and were kept awake by a loud electrical buzzing noise on the first night, we asked to be moved to a different block. We were then put in a room on top of the hill and it was like being in a different resort - the room was clean, nicely decorated and looked over the sea, although the air con was extremely noisy. The pool up there was much nicer than the one by the beach, which was very busy and had really terrible loud music playing. The beach was lovely but spoilt by the loud music, and there were signs saying " beware of jellyfish" so we didnt go in the sea.Food - breakfast was reasonable, but busy and not refilled very quickly after 8.30am. The drinks and meals in the cafe were quite nice but massively overpriced (RM17 for an ice lemon tea!). Overall, this resort is way overpriced - weve travelled all over Malaysia and have stayed at all kinds of beach resorts, from cheap and simple to 5 star ones, and the price of the Damai Beach doesnt match the quality of the accommodation, services and facilities, especially if you end up in one of the rooms we started off in. We did have a nice stay there once wed moved to the better room, but I wouldnt go back.Show Less
Beautiful and relaxing resort with the best sea and mountain views. Always loved the hilltop stay more than the chalets or rooms by the beach.Security was tight and thorough at the entrance but polite and friendly, which we appreciated. Check in was easy and friendly as well. There is a 24-hour shuttle service that made our stay pleasant. The baruk room was the highlight of our stay in addition to the hilltop pool. Just so enjoyable to swim and watch the sunset from there. The pool guard on duty was friendly and attentive, without being intrusive.Breakfast was wonderful. Lots of choices from nasi lemak, nasi goreng to a range of bread, salad, fresh fruit and egg station for your choice of omelettes, scrambled, boiled or fried eggs. Coffee machine was great too.The resort offers a range of activities eg diving, snorkelling, banana boat, flying fish boat etc as well as spa, massage, facial, manicure and pedicure. Some feedbacks - when we paid for the extra guest charge (RM150 is reasonable), that should at the very least includes extra towel and toothbrush too. The WiFi barely worked. Some parts of the resort was visibly old and needed updating, so hopefully the management looks into that.Overall, we had a very relaxing and wonderful stay and the resort could not be at a better location.Tip: if youre not having dinner at the resort, go to Kampung Buntal for seafood dinner (Lim Hock Ann Seafood, Teos Seafood etc), only about 10 minutes drive from the resort. Or go in the morning to check out freshly caught seafood at the market on the weekend.
the room’s floor were so dirty and there’s a sand.. it’s like the room not be clean uo properly.. after staying there for one night, my body full of bed bugs bite.. i need to go to clinics due to the bite.. and for weekend staycations it’s quite pricey
In short, my latest experience staying here was terrible than the last time. The accommodations looks very run down and barely kept up. The cleanliness of the room, its still sandy in the room that my mom need to asked for a broom to sweep the floor. Not only that, even the bathroom also have problem with the drainage and short of tissue paper. The room was probably never updated as the locks were broken (need to try several time to open it), tv quality sub par, and the bathroom required maintenance and upkeep. Last, we need to pay RM150 for any extra guests coz the the staff informed 1 room only allowed 4 adults and 2 children !!! Simply not worth it.
The booking confusion is upsetting. The man in charge needed either more training or alertness of all earlier bookings from all 3rd party hotels provider whose services they engaged from.Great place to watch sun set with a glass of cool drink. Beautiful and clean white sandy beach.
The food is decent with quite a variety.. The scenery was mesmerizing.. but the room is quite rundown.. the aircond in my room is leaking and their technician took 3 to 4 hours to come and fix it.. 😌 if comparing the room itself, it feels a bit not worth the price paid.. 😅😅
Dont get the resort feeling. Rooms are run down and in need of renovation as are the rest of the facilities. Location is beautiful, but not worth it.
In short, the experience was terrible with little to no redeeming qualities that I can see. The accommodations looks very run down, barely kept up. When we entered our chalet, there was still leftover food being left outside by other guests. All this with an overly expensive price tag! RM150 for any extra guests !!! Simply not worth it. Sematan was way better than this.
Last visit until Damai change the rules.Unpleasant stay at chalet with 2 queen beds .Should inform earlier about the extra charges Rm 150 per adult. We customer dont know that each room only for 2 adults n 2 childrens.Any extra childs or adults will be chargedrm 150 .If we know ealier, better we book 2 rooms even cheaper than that.for
Firstly, I booked a Deluxe King Hilltop Room. When we checked in the room, the air conditioner was out of service. Then we called the operator to help, she said shell ask a technician to come over to check, 15 mins later, no one came. Called again, and 5 mins later, our air conditioner was just switched on as it suddenly shows the light on the switch. Means no one will switch it on if we didnt call them, I guess we were the only guest checked in that night at that Block. Room was old & floormat was dusty. Felt like the room was maintained long time ago and no one lives in it for quite some time. Moreover, after we had dinner that night and went back our room, we only realised that the showers heater wasnt on or smth. So we showered i. the cold freezing water, almost freeze to death that night LOL. It was late already so we didnt make a phone call as we just want to shower and rest for the night.Really bad experience living in that room. The stairs and environment at Hilltop area was nasty too. Wouldnt recommend you guys to book the Hilltop Room if youre planning to go Damai. RM430 per night for such experience wasnt worth it at all. However, Breakfast was unexpectedly good thou. Lots of choices of foods and service was good!
Very poor services as a resort.should be rejected from sarawak tourismlist. Waiting almost 2 hour to check in, then waiting for more than 3 hours for buffet breakfast. Not recommended..
Nice beach and swimming pool. Great location too.Chalet room is a bit old, really need an upgrade/renovation. Poor facilities!Cleanliness is just okay, could be cleaner
Price are expensive doesnt match the service. Only breakfast are included no dinner. Beach are not that clean, shower in the room also not properly cleaned. Ive found few hair strand on the cup that provided in my room. Extra pax RM150 per person! Ridiculous! Dont even know whats fun there! Sematan Palm Beach are way better than this!
check in need wait to long , can early the time ? Only 3pm can check in , 4:30pm just check in done …… wait to long the time la . And the toilet sink is been blocked…. the water can’t down 🙄 that’s all , btw the service is ok
due to covid19 I stayed off the hotel for 2 years. I now found there is a need for better maintenance as first deluxe room I got got noisy air con and after 2 hrs was told need major work and got a room change. The new room look ok but later I discover toilet leaking once water turn on leak from a joint. This took over 2 hrs to fix. other than poor maintenance and slow wifi, staff are friendly and place nice. buffet breakfast at rm 35 is good value. sea is clean and the beach has a gentle slope with safety flag to warn when not advisable to swim.
Cosy comfortable stays near Santubong and also walking distance to Sarawak Cultural Village and you also get the most gorgeous sunsets here!!!!
Why 2 star, my daughter enjoyed the kids pool and the beach. Other than that? Room experience: leaking om ceiling near coffee maker. Dinner experience: the RM33 per person buffet at Sunset Club is ridiculous. 3 course only, nasi goreng kampung that is not nasi goreng kampung at all, sweet and sour fish, ayam masak merah. For RM33 buffet. Booking thru booking.com is ok. Paid at the property. Stayed one night at hilltop. Last I stayed at hilltop was in 1997. The room hasnt changed at all. Paid RM510 per night.Need anything extra other than what is provided, theres exra charges. RM5 per extra toilet roll!!! Luckily I brought my own.Extra towel is RM10, extra blanket RM35 and the list for extras goes on.. maybe Tony Fernandez owns Damai too now. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BRING YOUR OWN EXTRAS BEFORE BOOKING!Dinner? Not for the hungry tummy as you may have to wait longer for the kitchen to prepare your order. It is slow. To bring your own food, be careful, hide them well. Now, breakfast at Cafe Satang. Which comes with the room booked. Come early. Before 8am if possible. Otherwise. You wont have any. They dont refill. I mean, seriously, how can you not refill..FACTS: this resort is on the brink. It was losing its glory days before covid but now its just getting worst.Would I come back, may be not. Unless they changed/upgraded management. Pls upgrade.
A nice beach resort at the Sarawak Cultural Village area. Staying here is a nice experience. Arriving from Kuching means a little long drive as this is out of the city. The welcome from the hotel is really good, the lobby is very welcoming, and feels like a cultural center itself, with so many crafts and decorations. Check in was a breeze, got a room overlooking the center swimming pool. Room is large, dual queen beds, nice, clean, although not the most modern looking room, its comfortable. Bathroom is large with good hot water supply. There are many facilities around the hotel. The central swimming pools are clean, well maintained. For food, there is the Satang Cafe, or one can just walk over to Damai Central via a back door walk path. Theres a bar and club beside the swimming pool which is very popular, but gets quite noisy at night during my stay, even until wee hours of the morning. The beach is just a stroll away and is beautifully kept, great to come in the mornings and evenings for walks. There are also chalet rooms in like an immaculate coconut farm, beautiful. All these with a great view of Mount Santubong. It has been a nice stay, and for family or couples, this is a nice getaway, just get a room further from the club. During my stay, Internet connection was difficult and not very good, so just ended up using mobile data. Overall, the hotel is nice and very well maintained. Staffs are incredibly helpful and polite.
Nice beach. You can walk or jog around the facility. I like the swimming pool area. Rooms are spacious, carpeted except for entrance. They provide water dispenser along the corridor for guests to refill. One restaurant, one bar.
The official hotel for the Rainforest World Music Festival where performers and media are staying. Swimming pool that located on the hilltop is the best place to swim, overlooking the South China Sea.
The view was so beautiful and breathtaking (sea and mount Santubong..I stayed at hill side of the resort. The only problem is you need to take shuttle service to checkin to your room since no car allowed (car park only provided at lobby compound). It has nice and beautiful beach.
The room nice. But no bathrobe for a beach resort is just so not well. The service not high up to the expectations. Tons of rules and regulations. Around it only damai beach, nothing else. Nearest market is around 15 minutes away. Not really recommend u go here if u only for for Damai Beach
It feels like an amazing room at start but it keeps having blackout at night and it takes at least 10 minuite to fix. The power outlet does not even work. Only the one that is plugged to the lamps work. The others are just for display or something. Please decide to decide to stay at the hotel below and not stay at the one on the hilltop because the hilltop always blackout despite the amazing view.It blacked out 5 times tonight already. Cant sleep because of this. If can decide not to stay at Damai but you can get some other resort near Damai with better service. The check in process takes at least 30 minuite for a 4 person queue. If they could upgrade their technology I would rate the service better but I am only rating it a bit higher because the staff was nice. Overall a bad experience. Get another hotel somewhere close to damai if you can.
Terrible poolside room. Avoid at all cost.Bed doesn’t have bed headWifi not workingCleanliness of room are bd as wellNo toothbrush provided have to pay extra
Booked a sea side chalet and was upgraded to hill top room without prior notice. I booked seaside chalet because of my disabled child condition. Explained at the counter and was told the chalets were full without prior notice. Very poor booking service. If it were not for the great staff hospitality, Id give one star. My tip, do not pay first via online. Pay cash on over the counter. Should you encounter to my situation, you can opt not the stay there.
Fantastic resort to bring family n loved ones for holiday. Beautiful beach, nice pool, spacious room, nice breakfast.Friendly staffs....highly recommended
The list of what went wrong in this stay is endless, but for the sake of brevity, it was not what I expected nor did I feel it had the value for money expected. It is a very worn out facility with a dire need for immediate renovation and upgrade thought the resort grounds. The internet connect was almost 99% of the time was not available in the rooms. The room was probably never updated as the locks were broken, tv quality sub par, and the bathroom required maintenance and upkeep.I think the worst is the list of things that you have to buy if you ran short like toilet paper tissue boxes! The breakfast buffet was way below expectations and there were absolutely no options for none local taste. Portions of fruit were hardly topped up. The dining area needs a face lift. Finally, the facilities are worn out and landscaping needs serious attention. The gym was hardly open the three days we were there. Changing room facilities were broken and extremely dirty and the pool was overcrowded, moldy, and not clean despite the staff efforts.
SUPER BAD & SUPER POOR HOSPITALITY from the guards & management team!!! Please never ever stay here if u r planning for family vacay!! Charged hidden extra2 a lot! dah tahap ambik kesempatan org!! My family’s vacation at ur so-called “heaven gateaway” became the most “hellish” experience ever, being continuously spy! Even wat food or drinks we brought u guys kept on checking.. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😤😤😤If u guys keep on doing this kind of s*** service, jgn harapkan BMF hidupkan business korang! Eventualy will lama2 lingkup mcm Damai Puri resort.. *doa orang yang teraniaya selalu bisa ok! So sad Kuching x byk pilihan resort, sbb tu yang ada pun layan customer mcm 😵😵😵
NONSENSE NEW RULES by DAMAI!FIRST, 👎 Unpleasant experience started as we entered the premises, being greeted by the security guards & were told to park our car at the roadside to register with the other guard under the tent. There were around 6 guards BUT only 2 guards (with 2 tentsavailable for the unpleasant registration process. There were 6-7 other cars as well with a long queue at both tent under the HOT sun!SECOND, 👎 To adding up more unpleasant experience, we were told by the guard ONLY 2 ADULTS allowed per room, otherwise RM150 charged for extra person per head. We had book 2 rooms approximately RM770 for ONE NIGHT eligible for only 4 adults (Noted).P/S: We booked a chalet(2 rooms)✅ 1st room with KING SIZE bed✅ 2nd room with 2 QUEEN SIZE bedThe drama began as we brought in another family members with 8 adults so we paid for another extra charges RM150/head (totalling RM1,200as per requested by the receptionist. Noted. No argument made though we were informed last minute by the security about the extra charges.THIRD, 👎 While on our way bringing our stuff to chalet.Despite paying a total of RM1,200 for another 8 family members (adults), we are stopped by the monitor staff from bringing our own mattress from outside & she told us to put it back in the car & telling us it is NOT ALLOWED. She told us the hotel can provide mattress but we need to pay for ANOTHER RM20/RM25 for each mattress for 1 person. We tried to argue as we did not seen/read anything regarding the extra charges for mattress stated in the T&C of the Damai Beach Resort when signing the paper during check in. But she kept on argue back saying that it is stated in it.My point is we paid extra RM150/person, so we thought the service should be more nicer & relevant. Which it is make sense they should have provide the mattress for other 8 person without another charges for the mattress. Where do they expect the other 8 adults to sleep? Can’t bring our own mattress. Don’t want to spend another extra charges for the mattress cause we had spent too much money in less than 24hrs. Other 8 family members have to sleep on the cold floor (take note the aircond is leaking in one of the room). Continue on with the drama, the monitor staff even called one security guard to “spy” on us until we reach our chalet just to make sure we did not bring our own mattress in!✅ Paid extra RM150 per head (RM150 x 8pax = RM1,200)🚫Not allowed to bring our own mattress🚫Did not provide extra mattress cause we did not pay for another extra charges for mattress which RM20 or RM25 per headFOURTH, 👎 The rooms conditions. The chalet wooden room still very old style, sandy floor, aircond leakage, bathroom very old style with cracks on the mosaic. AND there’s a stain on their comforter as well. Good game. Another headache. POORLY MAINTAINED ACCOMMODATION!FIFTH, 👎 NO FOOD & BEVERAGES allowed from OUTSIDE. Is this rules applied to bringing outside snacks & drinks to the hotel? I mean, we came to the hotel to have fun, to release stress while we having a family gathering. But we felt anxious & moody the whole night just because this one guard keep on asking if there’s any foods & drinks or alcohol in our bags. Who the hell in the world having a midnight talk WITHOUT snacks at least some ‘kuaci’ or milo.Tbh, I literally grew up watching the changes of the Damai Beach Resort. Despite being a regular customer, my family constantly received poorly treatmeant & services. A poor management can drastically change the whole perception of the guests towards the resort. We are beyond disappointed by the treatment & services. I don’t know if they did this to any other customers or maybe they did this to unwelcome any more guest into their resort. This is definately our last visit, no privacy, seems like they are watching us after the unpleasant encounter. This was supposed to be an exciting family holiday but our mood was COMPLETELY SPOILT by their ridiculous "hospitality" 👎Damai beach resort DON’T DESERVE a 5 ⭐️
Nice resort at the beach! Rooms are huge space to place our luggages freely. Golf cart was interval from room to lobby by phone call in advance. Enjoying at the beach walk and water playing. Happy with the breakfast buffet and the stay of night and days.
The rooms have great view though some may need refurbishment. Having more offers on the menu will be great too. We cant bring in outside foods, so maybe its time to stock up the mini mart
