Went to adult only night, Christmas lights all over the zoo. It was a wonderful evening to walk around and see lights, and have some adult beverages. Being a zoo member and supporting the zoo gives you access to areas others dont see.We also watched the virtual gorillas, it was awesome.

Visited Dallas Zoo Lights, an evening display of Christmas lights and yard decor in the shapes of Zoo animals. We also saw Santa. The food for sale looked great but we did not partake. Lots of photo opportunities.

My daughter has a family membership. Her family goes about once a week and the kids love it. My granddaughter is fond of feeding the giraffes. We recently attend the zoo night lights...it was cold but beautiful...fun.

This zoo used to be better. There were several exhibits under construction and the best part where you could see different things from nature and even bring them the things you have found was closed. My kids loved that part. I do have to say the shade here is appreciated and there are several places to stop and sit if you need a break. The tickets and parking have gotten pretty expensive. Also take a screenshot of your tickets before you arrive just in case your signal is off.

A lovely city zoo. We had a great day exploring their animals. Easy to follow paths, very educational talks with zoo talks and Plenty of spaces to stop and rest with shade. Unique animals we have never encountered. Try the soft serve 🍦 Take your time and enjoy the zoo!

I had a great time going to the zoo. It was not very crowded (only where the pathways narrowand there were plenty of spots to sit and eat at. The only downside was that many bird exhibits were closed due to a potential avian flu near Dallas but thats not the zoos fault.

Best time to go ever! We arrived at 9am and it was almost empty! All the animals were very active and we didn’t have to wait to see the animals because it wasn’t crowded at all! So cool! Funny things you see at the zoo 😁. Best time ever 🙌

Love this zoo. Lots to see, lots of space, it was busy but not crowded. Food was reasonably priced. Kids loved it. Lots of misters for the hot days, and air conditioned spaces. Only issue was the bees, EVERYWHERE. I’m allergic, and they were swarming the trash cans. Also, plopped smoking inside the zoo (don’t know if it’s allowed, but in a space with so many kids and people, it shouldn’t be). Hippo show was our favorite!!! Followed by feeding the giraffes, and the dinosaur exhibit (totally worth the additional few bucks!!)

Great zoo enjoyed my time there with my GF. Animals were easy to spot and full of energy. Can tell this zoo takes great care of their animals and also was very clean. Staff was very friendly and polite. One of my favorite Zoos” .

Wonderful and well kept zoo. Its divided in to 2 zones and each has their own facilities for restrooms and restaurants.Lots of places to get some ice cones, refreshments while walking around. Get there at opening time if you want to see the animals being active. Good place for the kids and family.

This is a wonderful zoo. I’ve been here twice. Every single time I’ve visited it’s been in late Spring/early Summer. Although it’s relatively big with a modest selection of animals and species, it isn’t huge compared to other zoos I’ve been to. It’s relatively spacious and gave me sanctuary vibes when I first frequented, which I enjoyed. The zookeepers are not only friendly, welcoming, informative, and enthusiastic, but very kind to the animals. That’s one thing I have observed. My only con is that every time someone has a wedding or a reception or some sort of private event at this zoo it seems like I never get to see the zebras. I have yet to see them. One thing is certain; however, I’ll visit again in the future. Hopefully I’ll see them next time.

My kids loved the zoo. Though hot during summer, it’s worth a visit during summer vacations. Go early in morning and you should be done by 3pm. Plus most animals are either sleeping or resting in shade during hot days, so it’s better to go early and catch on with the animals. We did the Dinosaur park(Dino Safari). It has ticket of $6 extra but it is worth 1 visit. Kids like it. I do recommend a visit if you have elementary age kids. We bought tickets in advance on discount $8 per head. Totally worth it!

Definitely a very well maintained zoo that I came across.. lot of cooling stations with beat the heat ac rooms and 95% walk areas are shaded. Though it looks crowded but still you will be able to enjoy it. Dino safari is a must for all especially for The kids who loves it. You can’t touch it but a Jurassic park kind of experience. Very good and friendly staffs with good service even when the outside temperature is 115. Must go for a family fun and can kill 4-6 hrs easily.

Lies basically in the city and not too big.Lots of overpriced merchandise and food shops. You have to walk too much to see few animals which is not fun in peak summer. However the management seems fine. Zookeepers and staff do the animal show for kids which is informative.Animals seem well kept.Kid’s train is a short ride bit fun for kids.

Very knowledgeable and hospitable staff. We hosted an educational workshop and the event space was great. We were able to take our group out to feed the giraffes. There were some excellent exhibits and lots of animals out to see. Bonus: there are tons of pokestops here if you play Pokemon Go :)

We are so excited to be back visiting the zoo again. We recently got our annual pass back for the first time since COVID started. They are back to a full schedule including summer camps for kids and Safari Nights. We are ecstatic that our home away from home is fully operational. You must buy tickets and parking in adcance now, even if you have a pass.My oldest practically grew up here from 2-4yo and now my other child can start to enjoy it as well. We go a lot in the summer even though it is hot because they have the kids area where the kids can cool off on the "river." Also, because we have the pass, we dont feel like we have to see everything, every time we go.Tips:Most of the animals are most active right when they open, while its still cool. The reusable drink cup is worth it, but take reusable straw. They do not come with straws anymore.Go to the African Safari side first, and see the giraffes, lions and hippos. They will not be active past noon. Then go to the gorilla trail, but do it backwards, starting at the Hippos, That way you arent stuck in the crowds. The elephants will be out most of the day.

Amazing place to visit, especially with kids. My 2 and 4 year old loved all the animals. The highlights were Eagles, Vultures, Tortoise, Monkeys, Gorillas, Zebra, Tiger, Lions, Giraffes, Elephants and Hippopotamus. Parking space was just enough. Its big you need 2-3 hrs minimum to walk around the entire zoo. There is small train 5min ride for children too. All in all great experience. I just felt there wasnt much places to buy drinks or snacks that we were expecting. Still two thumbs up!

We love to visit the Dallas zoo, and had annual passes for 3 years. In my opinion it is best to get there early and go in right at opening as many animals are most active at this time. We usually start with the gorilla trail and follow that loop to the hippos, who are often playful in the morning. Parking can be difficult later in the day. The grounds and restrooms are relatively clean.

This zoo beats the Houston zoo. It seemed so much more like a natural forest habitat with a lot of shaded areas. We saw pretty much all the animals we wanted to see. The Dino exhibit was super fun for the kiddos. It had all kinds of different dinosaurs, we rode on a small trolly and the tour guide talked to us about the dinosaurs and made a few jokes. Loved it.

We’ve had passes the past couple of years and I would say they have been the best investment! While my teenager gets bored with going frequently, our little guy loves it every single time! I have to say each trip is a different experience and well worth the return visits. The mix of animals on display is vast and varies, if one species isn’t feeling like being out for show there are plenty of others that are and the next time you go the tables turn. So like I said, it’s a different experience each time.Right now they have the Dino Safari adventure as an add on for a limited time and as a family full of dinosaur fans, we loved it! Worth the extra $ to go through. You ride through a great display of static and animatronic dinosaurs!Highly recommend that you visit this amazing zoo at least once if not 20 times!

Zoo visit was totally unplanned, been to many big zoo’s and in my mind i was thinking might be a small one n not enough animals. Really a great place to spend with your family, kids will love this place. They have lot of animals, very well organized and very cheap too. We spend almost a day walking around the zoo, if you are in Dallas, n you finished other attractions, check out this zoo, definitely recommend 👍

We went in the winter during penguin days and the tickets were amazingly cheap for a zoo of this size! I also appreciate that you don’t have to go through the gift shop to exit like a lot of zoos. There are a good variety of animals and enough trees to keep you mostly shaded. My kids really love the awesome kids area with the lazy river and petting zoo.

Overall, it’s a really cool place, I would recommend going in the morning. Food was pricey but definitely worth the price, the steak house I recommend. There were lots of animals, hippos, elephants, monkeys lots more too. You’ll at least spend a good 3-4 hours here, great for family! Recommend 10/10 on a good day.

Ive been attending this zoo on and off for years, and it feels like every time I return its better than the previous visit. The pathways are always clean, open, and easy to navigate. Even during busy/high traffic times, there is space to dodge families, strollers, and wagons. I am super appreciative that the zoo lets you bring in a picnic and your own water. There is food on the premises to purchase, but with those with dietary restrictions, this little bit is super helpful. And there are plenty of spots to sit and eat. The whole picnic area is very well shaded! And I am super thankful that the staff here is is still enforcing masks for their team and trying to keep customers informed. Having those precautions in place is very important and Im grateful that they are still taking Covid seriously. And their staff should be commended for their patience. Several people complained about the birds being off display - the bird flu is going on and people dont read/listen/watch the news apparently. Most zoos have removed birds for safety. I watched one woman berate a zookeeper as if they have control over the bird flu. The zoos kind & knowledgeable staff, as well as the commitment to the safety of their guests & the animals will have me return as a repeat customer.

Was this the best zoo I’ve ever been to? No. Was the zoo and it’s exhibits outdated? Yes. That said I did enjoy the 4+ hours I spent at the Dallas Zoo however I would enjoy myself at pretty much any zoo with more than 10 species of animals. My main complaint is the complete lack of plant life as most zoos I’ve been to really take pride in their plant species and landscaping (even Chicago which gets a lot colder in the winterwhich is obviously not a priority at the Dallas Zoo. For a 5-star rating they would need to update their facilities (the bathrooms are gross and don’t seem to have been updated since the 1970’sand dramatically improve their landscaping and plant life.

The Dallas Zoo is definitely top knotch in many respects: beautiful landscaping, statuary, picnic areas, structures, etc.; adequate crowd management; opportunities to speak with experts face to face about the animals; the presence of many climate-controlled areas for respite from the heat. However, I wish the zoo had more space in general to showcase more species and more specimens of each, more viewing area for guests, and larger habitats for the animals. This said, their support of world-wide species preservation and protection is crystal clear without cramming the message down visitors throats. For the price, it is definitely worth it; and when construction around the zoo is complete, arriving there will be greatly facilitated.

It’s an enjoyable day trip. It’s a big zoo with a variety of animals from different countries across the globe. You will find some good and snacks booths around. A lot of walking so if your kids get bored easily you should plan a couple of breaks for a meal and a treat. I think it will be more enjoyable if you can avoid weekends when it’s less busy.

Well its a beautiful place to spend a warm day at Dallas. We had fun, but it also gets a lil boring after a point as they dont have much animals. Their Giraffe watch was my favourite of all. We get to feed them too. Apart from that Id say its worth visiting just once. For those with kids, it could be worth a visit.

Great zoo. We went there on a VERY busy Sunday. Had to park in the overflow lot at the back. In spite of this, we had a wonderful time. No issues seeing everything and honestly didnt feel too crowded. Wish they had more food options open but I assume it was a staffing issue. Lots of construction in the surrounding area, so be mindful when going

Wonderful zoo, very clean and well kept. Animals looked to be in good health with ample habitat and enrichment. There were only a few animals hiding in their areas we were unable to see - but for the most part we were able to see all of the animals we were hoping to. The zoo staff was all friendly and helpful and we will definitely visit again!

This is the best zoo in the area. This is a very kid friendly zoo. Employees are very nice and the animals are beautiful! The facility is SO beautiful, and there is much more of a variety of animals. There is also an area where children (or adultsare able to watch some of the trainers with an animal up close. They can ask questions, and there is a different animal each hour. My husband and I loved it and want to be back with our family!

Ive been to countless zoos & Ive NEVER felt as bad as I did for the animals at the Dallas zoo 😪 It was nice to be able to see the animals, but I dont think the location of the zoo was a good choice. Also, every animal out had "Healing in Progress" signs & you could see why. Penguin days $8 for seniors/adults/children. Kids under 3 free. Parking was $10

What a nice zoo! The African exhibits are the highlight and very well done. We cruised through pretty steadily and saw the whole place in about 3 hours. You could definitely spend more time than that though. You’ll see elephants, zebras, giraffes, gorillas, tigers, cheetahs, lots of birds and an indoor reptile exhibit. It’s $10 to park at the zoo.

It was an awesome Zoo. Ive been to several zoos from San Diego to New York and this ranks up with some of the best. I really enjoyed how they made it an experience and not just "here is an animal. Here is another animal". The food was surprisingly good. Had all the highlights you hope to see from lions to primates. Would highly recommend.

We had a 12-hour layover in Dallas on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. Having never visited the city before and having our two kids with us, we decided going to the Dallas Zoo would be a fun way to pass the time. We arrived at around 10 a.m., about an hour after the zoo opened. The major pleasant surprise? It was just $8 per person and our son was FREE since he is 2 and younger. We recently visited the Jacksonville Zoo and let me tell you, the Dallas Zoo is way better. It is clean and organized with incredible animals. I don’t think I will ever forget looking at some of the primates and being in such close proximity to them. The bird show was a lot of fun, the snake house is really cool, and the entire Africa exhibit is breathtaking. The fact that you can see all of this for much less than the cost of a movie theater ticket is insane. When we arrived it was pretty empty which was nice. By the time we left around noon the parking lot was full and the park was filling up. I do wish more of the concession stands were open. But overall this was the perfect way to spend some of our time in Dallas.

Loved it. Have been to many zoos across US, but this was my first trip to the Dallas Zoo. Its big, clean and beautiful. Was not able to get hold of big cats (these are almost always most difficult to view in almost all zoosbut there were many other big animals: elephants, zebras, giraffes. Plenty of seating areas and also play area for kids. Wish some minor issues were taken care of: $4 water bottle is little too much, but good thing is that the zoo allows bringing your own food and drinks. Overall fun and good day out for the family.

We did the Holiday Lights drive thru for 2021. It is a great way to keep your family safe during covid and still see beautiful lights. If your kids really want the max experience I would recommend having them sit on the left side of the car. There are more light designs on the left but both sides are so pretty! At the end there is a Santa that the kids can see, some snacks and adult beverages. And the staff walking around to help take full family photos
