Pharping-Kulekhani Road, Dakshinkali 44600, Nepal, Birganj
Hindu temple complex dedicated to the goddess Kali, with occasional animal sacrifices.
I went there 6:30 in the morning with my parents expecting to a good Darshan. Definitely not recommended unless you have to since theres always a big line at that time. The place is cool, I like the location but it all just seems unmanaged in the inside. Theyre sacrificing animals and the blood is all over the place. They have a break at 11 AM or something so all the people have to wait in line. I dont know, overall experience wasnt that great.
The temple is in the vicinity of jungle and rivers. Beautiful place. Nearby Kathmandu city. Road is good. One of the Shakti peeths in Kathmandu valley.
Very serene place. It was quite peaceful. But heard from the locals that its not the case most of the days. The road to reach the temple is also nice from the valley. However, the dust on the way is too much. The people are also very friendly there and the khuwa is a must try. I like how they have hand washing area, place to buy the puja items, place to put youre shoes and belongings.
Shri Dakshinkali Temple is one the powerful and holy place near Kathmandu valley. Dakshinkali is mainly dedicated to the goddess Shri Kali, who protects her devotees and children from mishaps and misfortunes. There are various type of god and goddess. This temple has also has the same religious value as Pashupatinath Temple and Manakamana Temple in Nepal. We can find khuwa ( made by pure cow milk which is very tasty and delicious. May Dakshinkali goddess bless you all.
Very awesome experience here.. situated 22 kms from Kathmandu. Must visit place if you are in Nepal Trip.
A part of heaven. 20 KM away from kathmandu. Hindu Temple.
Its always good to be around dakshinkali. I pike the nature around it. We were there early in the morning and it was good to not be in queue and get blessings from the goddess.
Here wishes are made before the goddess with the penance of creatures especially of cockerels and uncastrated male goats. On Tuesday and Saturday, and especially amid the celebration of Dashain, the yard of the sanctuary is secured with the blood of animals and goddess Kali is washed with the blood. (not for faint heart). when you are there do visit 2 temples (mother and daughter)
located about 20 kilometers outside Kathmandu and nere village of Pharping, is one of the major Hindu temples in Nepal dedicated to the goddess Kali.
Holy pilgrimage site for Hindu religious people around the world. Situated in the lap of nature, which gives religious vibe itself after we enter its periphery. Massive flow of devotees can be seen during Dashain festival mainly nava raatri and every Saturday.
Go if your heart says..
Easy parking, always crowded, it is normal for people to wait hours in line to worship. The road inside is a problem if it rains, would be better if it was like that of the BhaktapurBasantapurPatan area. The area doesnt feel managed at all, you dont get the religious vibes until you reach the temple itself, I think its required to look after the overall design of surrounding.
One of the powerful goddess.......🙏🙏Photos are from park near dakxinkali temple 🙏🙏
A very special and famous temple of Nepal with deeply rooted worshipping values.however, if you go on busy days just prepare for a 4/5 hr long line for your turn to come, the transportation is convenient. Only advice is avoid eating at the restaurants around the temple as much as you can, they charge hefty for food but quality is worse.
Dakshin : South , Kali : Hindu Goddess of fear together it means Hindu Goddess of fear who lives in the south. Temple buildin during the resigm of Pratap Malla. Lokated within Kathmandu Districts 22 km away from present core kathmandu city. Easy access of transportation. Popular holiday destination.
Another breathtaking pilgrimage destination is non other than Dakshinkali Temple. The Dakshinkali temple is located at a distance of about 17 km south of the capital Kathmandu. This is the temple of Goddess Kali. King Pratap Malla was the one to build this temple. This is a temple full of historical significance in the heart of Pharping. This temple is surrounded by greenery at the confluence of two rivers. The temple also has idols of other deities carrying the idol of Kali. This is not only a temple, but also a place for picnics which is very beautiful and full of entertainment. Kings also used to come here every year in April to celebrate their Diwali. It has a quiet atmosphere. Tourism business can also flourish there. Thousands of devotees visit this temple every year to fulfill their desires. Basically, a special fair is held here during Dashain festival. On the Navratri of Dashain, many devotees sacrifice ducks, chickens, and goats. This temple is rich in religious and cultural aspects.
My experience to Dakshinkali Temple was very good. We went there by taxi 🚕 in Saturday morning . Bikes, cars ,busses can also take you there. There were many devotees who were in a line waiting for their turn to worship lord Durga mata(Goddess).we were in the line too the line was well organized the line went smoothly and finally after 1 hours we get a chance to worship Gurga mata. After worshiping we were starving so we went near by restaurant there are many restaurants there with delicious food. We enjoyed selroti and Tarkari which is very famous there. When i was worshiping I felt like I am in heaven sitting beside Lord Durga mata for a second. It was a wonderful experience for me I would recommend all the devotees to go there once in there life.
This is a Kali Mata temple. You need to walk a bit to reach the temple from the parking. What I personally didnt like was you need to sacrifice animals here. I usually dont go to such temples but while going here didnt know. If you are also one of those people who dont go to such temples then this is a big no for you.
Name its self describe as a Hindu Goddess called South means Dakshin and Goddess means Kali. Pretty good to visit anytime a year but awesome in spring and autumn.Roads are pretty good, public transport are also available. Situated at the south end corner is 22 km away from Kathmandu Valley.
A beautiful temple of Goddess Kali hidden away between two mountain joints with forests and a narrow river flowing beside. A five minute walk from the parking lot, this place has a mystical energy covering it in the evenings.
The temple holds religious belief and a peaceful nature. I think everyone must visit here once for mind calmness and prosperity ✨❤️
If you are planning to go on Saturday or Tuesday ,be prepared to wake up early and reach there by 4 am or be in queue for some hours,,there is public vehicle available from Old buspark, and enroute Kalimati, Balkhu.Taxis are also available however bargain well, around 14 km so take good deal. You can see the temple and Dakshinkali Mata idol and can worship by yourself. There is separate place for sacrifice of animals. There is no provision for paid fast worship service as in Pashupatinath , however you can consult with pujari there.Overall a peace of mind, religious mindset and worship of Goddess is what you can expect. There is Mata Mandir above Dakshinkali about 10 minutes hike,go there. It is said that you need to worship mata after Dakshinkali. It is famous for khuwa, a kind of sweet milk dessert, you should try. Jay Dakshinkali mata.
A holy place nearby Kathmandu.May God bless everyone.
Very good experienceHoly and peace place
This temple is 22 KM away from Kathmandu. It was established by King Pratap Malla. By it name Daskhin mean South and Kali is One of the most powerful Goddess in Hindu Mythology. This is one of the major Hindu temples in Nepal dedicated to the goddess Kali. Dakshin kali is typically shown with her right foot on Shivas chest—while depictions showing Kali with her left foot on Shivas chest depict the even more fearsome Vamakali (typically shown with her left foot on Shivas chest). Animal sacrifices, particularly of cockerels and uncastrated male goats, are the main way that the goddess is worshipped, and this is especially seen during the Dashain festival. The temple has more tourist attraction as it is a popular hiking destination located near Pharping village in Nepal. Dakshinakali, is the most popular form of Kali . She is the benevolent mother, who protects her devotees and children from mishaps and misfortunes. There are various stories explaining the origin of the name Dakshinakali. Dakshina refers to the gift given to a priest before performing a ritual or to ones guru. Such gifts are traditionally given with the right hand. Dakshinakalis two right hands are usually depicted in gestures of blessing and giving of boons. One version of the origin of her name comes from the story of Yama, lord of death, who lives in the south (dakshina). When Yama heard Kalis name, he fled in terror, and so those who worship Kali are said to be able to overcome death itself. This temple is also situated in the south (dakshinpart of Kathmandu valley
A Shakta temple with a charged atmosphere. Ma Dakshinakali is definitely here for everyone, not just Sattvik devotees (animal offerings are made by some people in accordance with their own wishes). Saturday is definitely a busy day so try to avoid coming here during that time if you’d like a more relaxed pace visit. However, for those of you who know how busy important temples get, this shouldn’t pose a problem. Car parking can work even on busy days - just have patience and be grateful to be in this spiritual environment. It is definitely a place for all - Shaivas, Shaktas, Vaishnavas, Buddhists and those from all other spiritual or philosophical persuasions that were there when I visited found something that resonated for them: see what speaks to you on your visit.
One of the Most The Holiest Holiest place in Earth DAKSHINKALI MA. People from all around the world visit here ever year for Worship and Prayers. It is believed that you will have what you desire after you visited this Temple.Usually there’s lot of crowd and Line of Devotees, and lack of Volunteers for Management, I recommend to Go as early as possible for early entry.Jai Dakshin Kali Mai

Dakshinkali Mata Shakti has been living as the faith of Hindus. Most of the devotees come here on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Even when we reached there, it was crowded. In the current Corona epidemic, if you are also going to worship at the temple, please go according to the health protection criteria.
A must visit temple for all Hindus & Pharphing for all Buddhists. The road that leads from Kathmandu to Dakshin Kali is excellent and well maintained. The vegetable vendors, local organic dahi, phuwa are my chief attractions. Love to do darshan & shop too. Don’t like the animal sacrifice that they do there.. I abhor animal killing…☹️🤭😱
The overall my experience was good but no volunteers are there. people just drive in the queue and break the line which will really affect the people who are standing for long time. Volunteers requirement is must.
One of the best place to visit near valley . It is at a distance of 20 km from Balkhu chowk.. It become even beautiful in you believe in Hindi goddess. Great for short visit..
This temple is 22km far away from the central city. Their are many stories from ancient time concerned with this temple. Kali is worshipped in this temple and respectively other god and goddesses too. Most of them offer he goat and hen sacrifice on various festival. This temple is located on southern part from Kathmandu and it has various hiking route too. Most them visit this temple in a faith that it stop us from happening misdeeds and misfortune. It carries same value like other old religious temple. This temple is highly worshipped by hindu people. It is also surrounded by local business selling organic foods, milk products, restaurants, photography etc. Recommend 😊

Dakshinkali Temple is one of the most famous Hindu temples inside the Kathmandu Valley. The word Dakshina means a gift given to a priest before performing any ritual and the word Kali means terror in religious meaning. So that it is believed that those who worship goddness Kali are supposed to overcome the death. It is also called Dakshinkali because it lies in Dakshin (Southto the Kathmandu.Located near to the Kathmandu City, it is one of the most visited Hindu temples in Nepal. Wednesday is supposed to be the day of the week when Goddness Kali is worshipped. Therefore, a huge crowd is seen at Dakshinkali temple during the Wednesday. However, there is also huge crowd of people when it is public holiday. Especially people from Kathmandu visit this amazing temple for the purpose of worship and refreshment.Locating a little far from the crowded city ; Kathmandu, it is located at Natural place of Dakshinkali. Anyone from Kathmandu Valley can go on a tour to this place with the bus, bike or car, whatever possible. People from outside the Kathmandu Valley can also visit this temple in their own comfortable way. Who else dont enjoy walking in the forest ? All of us do.On the way to the Dakshinkali temple, we can see many small shops that offer varieties of goods to people. A basket full of materials to worship, organic pickles, religious materials, tools....etc... There are enough cafe, restaurant and hotel to serve people 24/7 hours. The way to the temple is too clean, well managed, and natural. Since it is a religious temple, so that many dont make waste at their. However, in order to control pollution at the temple area there are staffs appointed by the Management Board of the temple. Big respect to them , who make this temple clean and well managed everyday. ❤Dakshinkali temple lies near to a flowing stream. It is a small stream but the water volume increases during monsoon. The stream near to the Dakshinkali temple increase the beauty of the temple.Talking about the Dakshinkali temple, it is actually well managed and properly maintained temple. The view of temple at this place is just wow. This a temple with the religious beliefs, so that people pay special attention to clean it daily. Even the shops around this area seems to be so much attentive for the cleaniness of their area, which is a very positive scene. ❤Peogons flying over the Dakshinkali temple, crowd of people worshipping the goddness Kali in the temple , smell-ringing bell and everything near to the temple make us to get lost in the vibe of religious Hindu feelings. Talking about the scenes, religious scene are always amazing to see. It is amazing feeling to see people praying Gods, people leaving their stress, people sharing their grief with the gods.....it is always amazing to see people being free from all kind of difficulties after sharing their grief with the God.There is also a temple at the height of the hill where Dakshinkali temple lies. It is situated exactly above the Dakshinkali temple. Around 15 minutes of fresh walk can take you to another temple of Dakshinkali. Since it is locates at the height, so that we can enjoy some memorable scenes from that height. Some part of the Dakshinkali area can be easily seen from that height. So for those who just want to have some fresh scenes , Dakshinkali will never disappoint you.If anyone is thinking about where to visit this Saturday because it is holiday or anyone who is searching where to go for a fresh tour near Kathmandu or anyone who wants to utilize his/her leisure vacation by travelling somewhere near to the Kathmandu then I would recommend you to give a visit to Dakshinkali temple, you wont regret for it. You can reach there either by bus (available at Purano Buspark, Ratnapark, Kathmandu, bike or car..... in whatever you feel easy and comfortable. Wish you a memorable journey !!Thank You !!

Located in the outskirts of Kathmandu, it is one of the major Hindu temples in Nepal dedicated to the goddess Kali. Animal sacrifices are most common here, especially during Dashain. One of the religious places to visit. I would prefer you to coming other days except Tuesday and Saturday which seems to get big queue to reach temple goddess. FYI goodness dakshinkali is the daughter and there is temple allocated at the top for goddess dakshinkali s mom. Lease do visit her too. I do feel shopkeeper are forcefully to sell their stuff.
Its a popular Hindu pilgrimage located in the Kathmandu valley. Goddess of power, Mata Daxinkali, is worshipped by the devotees. Sacrificing animals to please the deity is a common practice here.
if you want to buy "puja samagri" please buy near bus park at beginning otherwise you have to pay double for the same if you think to buy near Dakshinkali Mandir.
Good places to visit for Hindu pilgrims but the water fountain is in worst condition than I had imagined because of lack of proper maintaining. And the road to this temple from Kathmandu valley is very dusty because of ongoing road expansion.
One of the famous temple of Hindu and it is situated in the southwestern part of Kathmandu. The temple is located along the river and covered by green forest. It is about 22 kilometer far and can be reached 45 minutes drive from local vehicle from Kathmandu.
