Dakou Restaurant - Japanese restaurant in Florence, Italy
We didn’t expect this restaurant to be a very Japanese style, because its in Europe, but this place was too far from Japanese food, not even close.. If you want Japanese food, please pass this one. We had ‘Tonkatsu Curry Rice’ : I assume their chef never tried Japanese curry.. it seems like they used small amount of curry powder and added corn starch with water…We also had an Udon soup tasted like nothing.. maybe only used sweet soy sauce for the soup base. Definitely not recommended. Btw, I read the restaurant’s replies to other reviews, so the (ownermight reply me badly as well, but I just don’t want anyone to be disappointed with their food.
It is called bad chinese food pretending Japanese Restaurant ! Even pork Curry rice they do it so badly , I actually give 0 star but its only minimum give 1 star to get in to give comment , please don’t come here who ever had decently Chinese or Japanese food b4 , also please don’t come here if u ever try those countries food , u will never like it after u had it here .
Nice people. Nice Feeling . Nice looking Restaurant. tasting ok.
Not an authentic Japanese restaurant at all. Ramen and tempura weren’t a pass. They even sell dimsum from Hong Kong.
The food is not good, the quality of the fish is terrible
Fantastic gluten free pizza and huge selection of toppings. Great service!
Okay sushi. Nothing special. Prices reasonable. We were the only ones there and the service was slow. 1 hr to get and eat 2 sushi rolls.
Definitely not authentic (they are running a chinese restaurant next door sharing the same kitchen). But we needed some asian food after many pasta meals and that kinda did the job as we didnt want to go far. Portion was generous.
Amazing place ! Very good high quality food! Nice decor and very good service ! I came here 3 times wile visiting the city.
The ramen was great and the place is very cozy
Very authentic Japanese Ramen. Recommended!
Great service. The food was amazing - had the pork cutlet and sushi and loved it
Delicious rolls , excellent presentation for the takeout..I ordered four different rolls, Dragon, Dakou house roll, eel and shrimp tempura. Everything was perfectly prepared, very tasty, really enjoyed it. Service was quick and friendly.. Thanks a lot, mille grazie!
This was just what I wanted. I knew it wasn’t going to be what you find in Japan but for a random place in Florence this was perfectly fine. Thank you for opening this place so I can take a break from pizza and pasta.
Very nice service! Food was amazing and had very good presentation! Highly recommend if you are craving Japanese food for a good price!
Slow service but really nice food
Not bad.
Japanese people will be offended if they were fed with food from here. Worst food iv ever eaten in my life. This restaurant should not serve food nor claim that they are Japanese. It’s Chinese fusion. They don’t even deserve 1 star. I wish I could give them negative stars.
We were on a time schedule and needed to catch a train. They accommodated us even while busy on a Saturday. Told us what to order for fast food. Service and FOOD was amazing
Relatively authentic Japanese place! Great service staff
I had a great time and enjoyed the food. The staff was very nice and the food came within 10 to 15 minutes. I ordered sashimi and uncooked fish so that could be why it was super fast. I enjoyed the visit and it was very close to where I was staying.
Craved Japanese Cuisine in Italy so we searched and found Dakou. The food is great and was too full to finish the ramen since we ordered a lot of appetizer. They opened at 1130. 👍🏻 Would recommend!
Literally the best Japanese/Asian food I ever had. Everything was great!
One the best sushi Ive ever tried. The octopus is divine.
Great food, generous portions, friendly staff, great value, would highly recommend!
the food and the service were amazing! I loved the atmosphere and the workers are very nice.
This is a real good place to get out of the sun and heat of summer time Firenze. Nice atmosphere, with genuine Japanese floor seating mixed with normal tables. Ramen recommended, and as expected from a 4 star rating, the staff is friendly and service on point.
The Sushi was great. The service was just okay.
Restaurant was really busy and the small kitchen couldnt handle everything... I mostly liked the food, some things never came though but I understand.
Not bad , something different than pasta in Florence.
Comfort food at its best! Will definitely ho back here again. Amazing food choices!
Superb sushi, great staff, will definitely eat there again. :)
Ironically this was the first restaurant we went to in Florence. But it was the best decision we made. The front window, menu and general vibe drew us in. We were early so it was very quiet and relaxing. I felt very invited unlike Japanese restaurants in the UK. Its been a few years but I havent forgotten the experience. It was my first time trying Katsu Curry and I loved it so much. Everything tasted amazing. I really love that their was instrumental studio ghibli music playing. If I lived near here I would go all the time!
Most high quality sushi I have had in Florence! My boyfriend and I got a sushi boat for two and it did not disappoint! Well priced for the amount. Very polite staff, beautiful atmosphere. Will be going back soon!
We went for dinner in August 2019. There were 2 people, my wife, sun and myself. We ordered the all you can eat menu. The food is very good and tasty, variety is quite big and the restaurant ambience and furniture is nice. The location is good in the old city of Florence. The owner was a little rude, otherwise the server, who’s hardly understood English, was bice
We had a delicious ramen in this beautiful restaurant just before we left florence. We were here completely alone. I think its because restaurant looks from the outside a bit strange and closed, weird doors and you dont really see inside. I would really recommend to make restaurant more appealing from outside and maybe keep open doors so people can tell its open.Food itself and service was really good and overall japanese feeling really suprised me. Staff was very polite and they played pleasing japanese music. Staff speaks little bit of english so they cant really explain what are you ordering but at least you can order :DOnly downside was very chewy beef meet. Some of it had even piece of knuckles on it so it wasnt really edible for me. But they will kindly make ramen with chicken if you ask!
All the food we had was excellent, and the service very classically polite Japanese.
My problems with Asian fusion cuisine continues. The ramen was bland and the pork was definitely not chashu (it may have been pork despite a closer resemblance to roast beefor at least not the pork belly cut. My karaage was nothing like the picture in the menu which was what I was expecting. Something more spherical with less breading to meat ratio. The mains do not come with rice which is extra. On the expensive side for what you are getting but not outrageously so. Items did not arrive at the same time so some party members were nearly done as others were just starting to eat although all the food arrived hot.
3 stars because I was famished otherwise 2.5 stars. The food resembles more of Chinese than actual Japanese. Ramen had a very weak broth but all the toppings added on top gave it more flavour. Takoyaki wasnt bad although it needed MORE sauce and katsuobushi. My friende tonkatsu also seriously lacked sauce.
Very crispy n tasty shrimp rolls. Gyōza were hot and just the right amount of plump spiced meat. The Ton Katsu Ramen was very filling and it was a nice touch to have the fried pork served separately so that it didnt get soggy in the soup.
The restaurant was Japanease restaurant, but the owner of it was Chinease I guess. So the food was not actually Japanease food but some kind of Japnease style casual food. Not really yummy.
Good food, priced fair, a good meal!
While on our trip I desperately needed some soup and my husband found this lovely place. We enjoyed it so much we went next door to the other side for Chinese the following night! Both experiences were fabulous and if you want some great gyoza stop by either side and enjoy!
Nice atmosphere, ok service. Food was not cheap but not pricey either. Good for your Chinese food fix.
Very good value and decent quality. I would lean more to a 3 but my wife more to a 4. Im fairly sure the staff were speaking Mandarin... In any case if u are looking for non Italian options this isnt a bad one. Skip the sushi, but go for the sashimi. The size are large, so dont over order. Also get some sake as well!
Nice athmosphere, good food, ok service!
Not a restaurant run by Japanese. Not a place at which one should expect authentic Japanese food.
the food is very delicious and.very helpful by explaining us the food detailly
I had been there twice and I was amazed by their food. Their sushi and sashimi were fresh and delicious! You will not get disappointed! Plus their service was decent. We even got different desserts for free twice in our visit! Thumb up and sure will visit when I go Florence again!
Quiet and authentic place, all Japanese style, take a soft seat further in the place if you are lucky. The staff is very friendly, we got the "2 person" menu, asked to have more sushi and less sashimi, and got served with an excellent set we like!
