Dakota Spur Hotel - in Lead, United States
This is no longer a hotel. This is long term rental extended stay. I hope this review saves you, I was actually able to book and got charged by Priceline!
Management and son fought constantly and kept us up nights, kid smoked pot, and eventually had a brawl resulting in broken ankle that we as guests had to deal with upon return from skiing.
This place was wonderful! Wandering our way through the Black Hills and found this gem and so glad we did, not just another chain hotel in just a different town. This will for sure be a destination of choice for future trips.
An authentic old west experience. Staying here was cool. Just like being in the old west of 1876. Owner lady was very nice and helpful.
Quiet friendly family type place.Breakfast was great .
This delightful hotel was beautiful & very accomadating for us. We were there on 9/1 of this year. Everything we expected from the website was true. I would highly recommend this quaint hotel to anyone. It was the best place we stayed on our vacation. In fact if it were possible I would give it 10 stars!
Would highly reccomend this Locally owned Boutique motel. Converted church with themed rooms. Owner gave us a tour of the facility when we arrived. And greeted us by name at breakfast! Ample parking. Nice patio and breakfast/ game/ relaxing area downstairs. Top notch.
Deb, the owner, is a very sweet woman, she gave us a tour and and you can tell she really cares about her business. Room we stayed in was small but was perfect for our little one night excursion. They have a coffee bar down stairs and the entire place is BEAUTIFUL! I am so happy I found this gem. The service is great, your feel welcome, and she’s great at predicting any needs. I even had make up removal wipes in the room!! 10/10 would come again!
A wonderful place to stay - welcoming and homey. Will stay here again next time I’m in the area.
Didnt think to much of the small rooms at first. But this was one of the most memorable places we have ever stayed. The managers were greatly and the breakfast was good. If you want a memorable Black Hills experience, try this place.
Nice, clean, quiet and warm rooms. The little things are not overlooked. We stay in Deadwood or Leed when passing through each year and will make this our first go to place here on out.Rate was reasonable. There was one other guest, yet breakfast bar this morning was fully stocked. Fresh milk and oj. It appears there was every type and brand of yogurt. The owner was very nice and plesant to talk with. Down to earth. If you smoke or vape or get high, please go outside. Dont ruin this gem of a hotel and destroy it for others. There are few places like this outside of a bed and breakfast.
Nice Big Clean room Friendly staff. We will be back.
Had a great time!! Wonderful hosts. Beds were great. Breakfast was amazing!!
Nancy was terrific! We TOTALLY enjoyed our stay
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Welcoming owners. Unique, boutique hotel experience. Continental breakfast. Lead is a beautiful laid-back community.
What a quaint hotel. Terrace breakfast. Very friendly people.
Great little rustic hotel in the heart of Lead -just down the road from Deadwood! Our room slept 8 (3 adult, 5 childrenwith 2 queen beds and 2 twin (plus a fold-awayfridge & microwave in room. Great gaming room downstairs with free pool & Foosball table, piano, keyboard, and breakfast bar in the mornings. Patio seating on ground level & rear second floor deck for a couple drinks in the evening. Private parking (streets parking can be a nightmare!Great management on sight were as friendly as can be! Definitely recommend.
We held our family Reunion at the Dakota Spur. The accommodation were wonderful and the staff was awesome! Thanks for making our Reunion special.

Very nice and friendly owners, highly recommend it for a quiet get away.
Great little place, conveniently located! Clean, cute bargain, with a friendly and helpful manager couple!
We had a great stay, the manager is very friendly and super nice! Made us feel like we were appreciated. Rooms are clean would definitely stay there again.
Quaint and cool historic place to stay!Rooms had very minimal amenities. Affordable and nicely decorated.
I love this place. Historic place with a great vibe. Each room is different. You can go downstairs where there is a comfy area to sit and watch TV. There is a stage, pool table, old wooden bar (no beverages servedand tables. Nice place to relax. Room was nice and comfy. One of the best host, very friendly and helpful.
Rooms are small, terrific location super staff. Thanks Nancy
So quaint and clean. Very friendly staff.
Beautiful old charm. The owner is amazing
Amazing hosts did everything possible to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Close to Mickelson Trail and ideal location if running in the Leading Ladies Marathon.
Was here back earlier this year in the March time frame or so, great place to stay in the Lead. Very beautiful and the owner and his wife are both very friendly. We stayed in the Heart Shaped Jacuzzi room and it was the perfect Romantic Getaway in the heart of South Dakota!
Hospitality & breakfast superb. Good quality, but rooms are quite small.
Nice place but the beds were like sleeping on a rack.
Nancy and Greg were awesome hostess and hosts. Such a great experience and meeting new people! Loved our two days there.
Spacious rooms and friendly owner. We enjoyed our stay and would come back
Super quaint, lovely rooms, great staff. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay on our honeymoon. We will go back!
I cant say enough about this Hotel. The extent they have went to give people a nice place to stay. Our room in particular has a kitchenette. They have even put dishes in the cupboard. Great place and theyve definitely went the extra mile!! Also love the history of it. Thank You ;)
Group of 18. Owners amazing. Rooms NOT run of the mill in an awesome way. Great breakfast. Very reasonable rates. Would stay again without hesitation.
Nice, friendly people and quiet rooms.
This place is awesome! Every room is a little different from the next. A quaint, quiet place that is clean and very homey. Fresh continental breakfast with real dishes and silverware. Would highly recommend and we will be back!
Had an AWESOME 2-night stay here. The managers, Nancy and her husband, were VERY kind and hospitable. Our room was amazingly comfortable, parking was adequate, NICE continental breakfast. Would DEFINITELY stay here again!!!!!
I realized that I had failed to review this hotel after my overnight stay, so I think I will do it now, considering that the owner/management seems to still be in place, based upon the most recent reviews.First off, Nancy rocks. She got me into a cheap one-bed overnight room at the last minute when I needed solid shelter after three days of rain on my cross-country bicycle tour.Secondly, if you stop here, you can either use the accommodation to R and R privately in your room (as I did out of utter exhaustion), or you can socialize with like-minded people in the common area which they provide. I regret that I was unable to hang out , but I got a good vibe just passing hotels guests in the hallway corridors. Friendly people and friendly staff. Recommend.
Road tripping from Chicago and looked for a place to stay near Mt Rushmore, definitely worth the hour drive! Nancy the manager and her husband Greg are both incredibly kind and generous and made us feel right at home. Room was clean, and breakfast was good. It was the nicest and most affordable hotel stay during our trip.
Loved our room! Heart shaped jacuzzi tub. Wonderful king size bed. The staff were incredibly friendly. I recommend this place to anyone staying in or around Lead.
Great hotel great atmosphere and very friendly people running it..love it would highly recommend to everybody.
Thank you everyone for your great reviews. Phyllis, Greg and I enjoy meeting you all and are glad that we have made your stay in Lead a good experience. Dont forget us and come back soon.Nancy Hershman,Manager
