Dagmar's Paradieso - Café & Salon De Thé (Opening 15 January 2021) - Cafe in Bel Air Rivière Sèche, Mauritius
Food is excellent! The bread is amazing! Straight up German food. Guy taking orders is disorganized.
Dagmar made the most awesome Black Forest cake for my sweetheart’s birthday 😋🎂😋🎂😋🎂 it was off the hook.
A wonderful little hidden gem right here in rio rancho. Delicious treats for the whole family. I would highly recommend the cinnamon rolls.
Love this bakery!!! Moved away from Rio Rancho and still think about this place, if youre thinking about trying this place out just know you wont regret it!
Very small place with very good food. Nice picnic table outside to sit in shade and enjoy our sandwich.A little hard to find the turn in but worth it.
Good strudels and very friendly employees! Owner was very approachable and passionate about her business
Omgosh, this place has delicious food! And pastries! and cakes!!
This place is great, and the breakfast schnitzel was incredible. I actually really like the German with New Mexico flare. great pastries and bread. My only complaint is the fruit strudels: They are way overstuffed with filling. theres nearly a whole jar of filling in one serving.
The sack lunch is a steal!! So delicious!! Don’t forget to add a delicious brownie or streusel !!
Bought $68 1st time there it looks delish but not really. Ill have to find another bakery im very disappointed.
This restaurant has an amazing selection of strudels and Breakfast sandwiches And on SaturdaysThey have a schnitzel breakfast that is great. If youre watching your weight or counting calories you may want to avoid this place😀
Hands down the best Ive ever had. Everything they make is perfection. The fresh bread and strudel was perfection. The apple filling was a perfect balance of flavor, the cinnamon was present but not over powering, the apples were heavenly and were the right texture and that glaze was perfect. Perfect texture, perfect taste, for once I wanted to eat the filling more then the crust and thats never happened. You must try them out, they will not disappoint.
A friend from work recommended Dagmars to me a couple of days ago. This was our first time visiting and it wont be the last. Got a mixture of struedals...they were all very good. Next time eclairs!
I love Dagmars. I bought the black Forrest cake for a very special birthday and boy was it a special cake. The schnitzel and braunschweiger was amazing, the strudels all were great. Just authentic and delicious.
This is to spite the post claiming that the apricot jelly was just "corn gel." My credentials are The Art Institute of North Hollywood in Food Science and the Sous Chef at Vernons Speakeasy (check us out.)This place is a Gem. To make a compote (like the apricot onea cornstarch slurry is required to achieve shelf life and consistency. A common move by most bakers. The strudels are worth every penny. Not only do I support my local bakery so costco horde all the competition, but this place is actually GOOD and GOOD FOR YOUThe breakfast sandwich. My god. The sausage breakfast sandwich. Its the house roll with a scrambled egg, cheese and sausage. Thats it. The sauce is the juice released from the best god damn sausage Ive ever had.Screw the wannabe foodies talking about "corn-gel" and prices. A good bakery is gonna be expensive because when it comes down to it, I cant make an apricot strudel with turbinado sugar.
Very nice the staff is very Polite and friendly. The breakfast plate is delicious. My daughter and I got a raspberry strudel this morning out of this world. This place is a must-stop Very impressed ...5stars
Love this place, although its not good for weight loss. Many flavors of strudels. They also serve a lunch and sometimes dinner.
Service was great. Actual pastry was great. But the filling of the strudels is goopy and gross and artificial tasting. Think canned pie filling. 😩 I liked the cinnamon rolls and coconut macaroons alot
This Bakery is not 5 stars, its 10 stars. Theres nothing but quality fresh baked goods coming out of this establishment. Dagmar herself is a sweetheart and a phenomenal pastry chef. I would say my favorite is the strudel with apple and cherry cheese. I dont think theres anything made here that is less than fantastic. This is a must visit bakery!!!!
Love this place. I had schnitzel for the first time ever it was awesome. The strudel is to die for. Highly recommend. Came back. Tried the breakfast schnitzel. Never had a brown gravy with green chile before. It was bomb!!
If I could give this place negative stars I would. I heard so many great things about it. I went in and it was during lunch time. I ordered a schnitzel and was watching the man in the back make it. He was not wearing gloves or a hair net. He had laid the raw pork on his prep station, coated it and then wiped it down with a rag. He used that same rag to then wipe down the sides of my side containers. I also saw him use it to wipe his hands. The cross-contamination that was happening was disgusting and I couldnt get over it. I ended up only taking two bites of my sandwich.I also ordered several strudels. This is not strudel dough. This is pastry dough. I bet its frozen pastry dough at best. All of the fillings had a chemical over processed taste to them.I will not return.
Thought I would find and try Dagmar’s bakery good. Had spoken to a friend about liking rye breads and she recommended I go to Dagmar’s. So I did.Bought 2 strudel pieces ; apricot which is a flavored cornstarch gel , no fruit and an apple cinnamon pecan slice ; a small bag of dark chocolate covered soft ginger bread cookie hearts; an average size marzipan bar= $28 !!!!Yes, we are having some outrageous inflation lately, but $28 seems like a very excessive and outrageous price for these 4 items , 2 of which are commercially mass produced items. Only 2 of the item were produced in the bakery itself. One had no real fruit in it!I did not even receive a cash register receipt nor a hand written one either. Will not return for a loaf of rye bread. Estimating that it will cost $30 or more given the outrageous price charged for the sample items I did purchase. Yes, I could have refuse to purchase any of the goods at all.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCAL BAKERY FOR ANY OF THE ITEMS I PURCHASED AT SUCH EXCESSIVE PRICES.
Outstanding atmosphere here at Dagmars. The staff is super friendly, the prices are more than fair, and the smell as you walk in is what dreams are made of. Of course the strudel is out of this world and comes in so many flavors that youll simply have to return for more. I highly recommend it if youre in the area. Ill definitely be back!
Delicious and very nice people 😊 I had the Schnitzelbrötchen and some Strudel.
Sweet german bakery with fantastic service on the westside. I popped in unannounced during the week in search of a fresh made apple pie for my daughters birthday and the baker offered to make it on the spot for me to pickup in a couple hours. It was absolutely delicious and the strudel we also bought was delectable! Well definitely be back for more goodies
My grandmother cooked German food that was delicious, the food at Dagmars is very close to hers. I am so glad I found them, I can finally get the German food that I get so hungry for. Their strudel is beyond delicious. I recommend Dagmars to everyone
The fruit "strudels" are 75% jam filling with very little pastry; the exact opposite of authentic German or Austrian strudel. The point is that unique pastry; a jar of jam I can grab at the grocery store. The cinnamon rolls and brotchen are better.
1st off I have to say I am from Indiana, it’s not easy to find a pork tenderloin here, that being said I am absolutely in heaven with this finding out about this place! The schnitzel sandwich is beyond worth the money!!!! All thought the baked goods are heaven as well this sandwich us amazing. It brought me back to childhood! 🤣 definitely a must try. You will not regret it!
Quaint, family owned deli & pastries that is tucked back on Southern Blvd. My mouth started watering as soon as I walked through the door. I ordered the sack lunch. The sandwich was loaded with quality ham, artisan lettuce, and cheese on a fresh made bun. The little cookie was to die for. If I had a choice between Dagmars & fast food, Id choose Dagmars every time. No wait, friendly people, excellent quality & cheaper than fast food!
The owner is a really sweet lady and her coffee cheese cake is amazing! She met with me at the bakery even if it was closed a day before the 4th of July! I will be going here regularly to try everything out. Found my new favorite place
Smells so good as soon as you walk in.Lots of beautiful goodies. The sandwich deal is amazing!Big very delicious sandwich on the best bread, chips and a macaron. Will definitely be back.
Barely found this gem. Everything is amazing! Loved the knackwurst, the bread, the dessert. The sack lunch is huge! Will definitely keep coming back.
The sack lunch is great. Its the best $6.00 lunch youre going to find anywhere nearby. The strudel is heavenly. More than a dozen different flavours and all of them good. There are plenty of other baked goods and a nice selection of German deli items (I need to try the leberwurst). Theres even Afri-cola, Cokes competitor in Germany and the only cola drink available during WWII.
Delicious German food on the west side. Especially enjoyed the crunchy schnitzel, flavorful knockwurst, side of potatoes bursting with flavor, and all the soft fluffy bread. Friendly staff and lots of delicious food will definitely keep us coming back for more.
Enjoyed my liverwurst sandwich meal! A tasty & good value! The strudel will have me returning for more‼️ Its a locally owned Business so I think it IMPORTANT to patronize local eateries during this pandemic. It supports our community ‼️ If Im going to eat out I seek out locally owned & operated restaurants. Try Dagmars you wont be disappointed ❣️
Huge cinnamon rolls Dinner rolls and strudels Filled with overflowing fruit, macaroons fresh handmade deserts!!!! Yummy!!! Also lunch specials and fresh brats!!!
Dagmars is a fantastic hidden treasure in Rio Rancho. Aside from the selection of fresh Strudel, Dagmars also offers a small assortment of other German specialties and deli items. During some business hours there is even a take out lunch menu which I have yet to be disappointed in. It would be nice if the pricing were more transparent however. On two separate trips purchasing the same items resulted in a $50 difference. It may also be hit or miss for finding items available in stock so it is worth a call ahead if you are traveling a distance. That said I cant close out this review without strongly suggesting on of their homemade pies. You wont be disappointed.
Great products. Purchased a bag of four "knot" rolls (eaten with pastaand some cherry/cheese strudel. The strudel was amazing and held for a day before finishing the second piece. In addition to baked goods they offer a selection of sausages, meats and condiments including a variety of mustards. You do need to know their location as they are a bit hidden off Southern and somewhat hard to find. I also did not see anything with prices marked. Unless you ask you may be a bit surprised when paying. 🤔 Still well worth the visit for excellent products.
Very clean employees were very kind and accommodating. Good selection for a small space. Sandwiches and pastries were very good but I would of liked more condiments for my sandwich. Potato salad was fabulous. Presentation was very nice. I understand the owner makes large cinnamon rolls on Saturday mornings yummy!!!
I was unaware of the shop being there for nearly a year. I asked if they could make a linzer cookie and ordered a dozen. They were very good as are the strudels they have daily in the case.
So delicious! They have strudels in blueberry, raspberry, cherry, cherry cheese, raspberry Chile, coconut and I think Im missing one. Theyre buttery, flaky deliciousness. Their cinnamon rolls are light and not too sweet. They have a lunch bag that has a legit sandwich and so reasonably priced. I love this place
Authentic little German bakery that serves delicious schnitzel, bratwurst, brochen and the best strudel in town! I grew up with my Oma baking/cooking one of her signature dishes and desserts often and since her passing I have been missing the delicious smells that filled the house and for me, food for the soul! Dagmars has a welcoming atmosphere. Staff is friendly and professional and the food...well, the food is authentic and delicious! Brochen are fresh from the oven, schnitzel is coated and fried perfectly, the german potato salad is just like Oma made it and the strudel is layers of flakey deliciousness. Dagmars has embraced NMs finest chile and offers a green chile gravy that is a great topping to their schnitzel as well as a delectable raspberry red chile and apple green chile strudel that are to die for! Looking forward to my next visit! #supportsmallbusinesses
I cant believe the great deal they have on a delicious sandwich on fresh baked bread with a very generous serving of meat for only $6. We also got sweet treats, cant wait to go back!
Schnitzel was excellent. Strudel was outstanding. The only reason for four stars is that it is take out only. We will go back.
My life is complete now! I have been hearing great things about Dagmars Strudel House and decided to give it a try. When I walked in it immediately had a warm welcoming feel to it and the staff greeted you with such sincere (something sadly missed these days in other businessesand welcoming manner. I perused the choices of delicious smelling baked goods and while trying to decide what I wanted, obvious return customers came in to recommend their favorites, making the decision all the more difficult. In the end I purchased cherry strudel. Cinammon rolls and macaroon bites(not sure of their actual name but boy were they tasty!).Treat yourself and stop in at Dagmars you just might find yourself to soon be a regular, I know I will be!Ps. If you are heading west on southern the turn is immediately after the fire station in the Trinity shopping center. Enjoy!!
Checked it out for the first time today and I am happy I did! The bread rolls and strudel I bought are delicious. I will be ordering from them for thanksgiving. I plan on going back to try more stuff. They bake daily so its all fresh and tastes great. I will be back and Im happy its close to home. Finally a good place to get fresh baked bread in RR.
Food is amazing! The people are so friendly. We go every Saturday and love it!!! Highly recommend the breakfast schnitzel!
Great small hole-in-the-wall German bakery. Fresh-baked desserts, the owner has a wide range of deserts but only makes a few a day. They also have lunch sacks which are costed at $6 a bag have not tried them yet but Im waiting. Military discount provided. Store is clean and comfortable to be in. Staff was very friendly and welcoming since it was our first time they answered all our questions. I cannot wait to go back and try all of their desserts. So far I have tried their cherry Danish and it was amazing.
Dagmar really knows her food! Her pastries are amazing!! Ive had the cherry, cherry cheese, apricot and apple strudel as well as the cheese danishes. All delish! Ive also had her knockwurst and bratwurst and they were soooooo good! Both served on house buns with house sauerkraut!
Its back!! It was a sad day when they closed their place on Juan Tabo a couple years ago. Thankfully the owner came out of retirement and just opened the new location in Rio Rancho. Food is still great and the strudel is to die for. They have the best cheese danish I have ever had. They only offer take out service now, but Ill take whatever I can get. They take cards or cash. The location is in a little strip mall on the South side of Sourthern. Enjoy!
