Dae Jang Gum - Korean barbecue restaurant in Puch'on, South Korea
Good authentic Korean food. The best kimchi in town. BBQ minimum order is 2 pax for those who is unaware. Dont be caught in surprise as minimum order is nothing new in this world. Saw some harsh comments about this but its seriously nothing worth complaining about. The place is clean and managed by a Korean lady boss. Recommended for group hang out to enjoy Korean food 👍🏻
One of the staff was impolite whenServing us.Food is too pricey. It look like big portion of food but in fact meat is very little. Even kimchi pancake costRM45.The price is is average high compare to other restaurant.Won’t come anymore .
One of my Korean favorite restaurant in town.
nice food, big portion (lunch Setsworth the price
Beef bulgogi was excellent. Side dishes was brilliant. Environment is cozy. Will definitely come back again.
authentic korean food. good service and reasonable price.
Busy during dinner. Limited seating, hence do booking if come with more than 4 pax in group. A la carte portion is adequate for an adult.
Excellent and satisfying traditional Korean cuisine, no complaints but a bit pricey though
Food is not bad just not very appealing as taste is abit bland compared to the usual Korean restaurants
Used to come here very often, the small dishes are able to refill. but this time the staff told me cannot refill anymore. Charge refillable price but dont offer any refill for side dish is really a disappointment. Hope the owner can look into this decision again. The price for authentic Korean cuisine is slightly higher just because it comes with refillable side dish but now they take this off ? What a disappointmentStaff told me non of the dishes can be refill even i only request to refill 2 of them. But anyways the food taste good is one of my best korean cuisine. Hope at least we are able to refill the kimchi, it is so good !update : i think their dish can be refill already ! thanks so much will still come back for yummy kimchi
Quite pricey for the portion size of the meats for bbq. But then the noodles (we ordered jan chi guk suwas surprising big for its price. Went during mothers day so it was SUPER packed and they lacked staff to the point where they bbq-ed at a separate table so they dont have to tend to so many charcoals and long waiting times if customers were to take their time to bbq their own meat.
Quite different from other Korean restaurants Ive tried. Must be cuz the owner is Korean herself directing the kitchen 👍✨
Good foods. The Lady Boss very friendly, polite.
Yummy Korean bbq
Homely old school Korean restaurant like those in Ampang. Always here for the BBQ + soups. Banchans are the best in town since a lot of other Korean restaurants are cutting down on the variety to save costs. They are one of the few K-restaurants to serve mulnaengmyeon as well outside of Ampang/ Mont Kiara - I always come here for that. Please dont remove it from the menu ever!!!Better to come in a group setting - to get the banchans they require at least 2 BBQ orders if Im not mistaken - bit much for a single person.I understand some might not be comfortable with the requirements set by the restaurant but their banchan ingredient/ quality is amazing so I just come with friends usually. If you takeaway theyre quite generous with the portions and dont skimp on ingredients. Soups can be a hit or miss (sometimes a bit saltydepending on the day you go. I always buy their homemade kimchi too - tastes just like those made by my Korean friends mom - very light, unlike most other kimchis here which are too strong for me.
Ordered BBQ to take away. But they dont include the chili paste and sesame oil. The waiter say cant be take away.
I used to come here all the time with my family of 4. Usually not much of an issue. We would always order like 2 meat and a soup etc (we are generally small eaters and we dont really refill the side dishmuch. But lately the waiter keeps forcing us to order at least 3 sets of meat which we really cant finish and we hate wasting food so often time we were forced to order like a pancake and pack the whole thing home lol.FYI the waiter threaten to not refill our side dishes if we dont order more LOL. I can get where he might be coming from but were family of 4 (3 ladiesand we order 2 sets of meat + 1 soup and thats not enough ?Sorry but i am done coming here because of the service.
1st time take out food this evening from this restaurant , beef soup and seafood pancake.Food - i have to say the soup taste good, pancake a bit thick for my liking, banchan is superb, one of the best around town, overall meal was satisfying, i always believe you pay for what you get.then why low score? service...i went into the shop, talked to the 1st waiter, paid and told him i would wait outside, 20 mins passed, 2nd waiter walked outside with some packed food, i looked at him and asked if that is for me? he stared at me and walked inside again with the food, so i thought it was for other customer...another 10mins passed, lady boss walked outside talking on the phone and went in again, another 10mins passed, i felt something not right, checked through the glass, finally the 1st waiter saw me and quickly bring my food to me, apology to me. it was literally 3 tables with customer, shouldnt be that busy? Or lack of staff during pandemic? i dont know, but definitely not a pleasant experience for me, ya great chef maybe, yes appeared on tv shows i can tell, but thats what happened to me, not a lucky day maybe.
Just 2 adults & waiter ask me to order more coz they small dishes are free flow. Ok, first time here.9:15pm already dunwan to refill my green tea as they wanna close shop. I started my meal at 8:30pm & closing hour written is 10:30pm. If u cant wait for me to finish my meal, just let me know. I can go to other places.
Beef bulghogi was delicious. I normally do not like kimchi but its delicious in this restaurant.
Looks quite tasty with its Korean cooking but prices are averagely alright if compared to other Korean restaurants.
Good food ! Tried soondubu jigae and kimchi jigae, both soup are rich in flavours
Dae Jang Gum was the neighbourhood go to restaurant for my family when we wanted Korean BBQ for the past many years. They could be slightly more expensive but the quality of their food was good. However, our experience for the past few visits has deteriorated. Last weekend’s visit got worst. We went there being a family of two adults and one children. We order two BBQ portions - pork and beef. We felt that should be enough because we aren’t that hungry. Then the waiter insisted that we must order 3 dishes because we are a party of three. I told him he have enough but he keep insisting. Then the lady boss who was standing next to our table turned around and try to sense what’s the conversation is about. So I explained our situation and to my surprise she did the same. And I was thinking “wow, time must be bad that the restaurant now forced people to order more even the customers don’t need it.” So I relented from reasoning with them and go ahead ordered something that we don’t really need. Then came the food. To add to our earlier episode, both the meats wasn’t as good as they normally are - they are a bit tough without the tenderness of fresh meats. So you can imagine our disappointment. I know the owner is proud of their business and reputation (just look at their responses in this review sectionand they have the right to feel that. At the same time customers have their rights to spend their money somewhere else. So I guess I can only do what I can do - move on to other restaurants.
Price is a little bit expensive but reasonable. The food portion is consider okay. Worth a try if you love Korean food and have some extra cash in pocket
This is my first time came to this restaurant. I brought my boyfriend here just to celebrate his birthday and have a nice meal. We ordered two marinated BBQ pork, not too bad especially the premium pork ribs. Once you order two BBQ dishes, it comes with 8 side dishes, one marinated salad and korean fried egg. We added one bowl of rice, a green tea and a coke. Overall cost us RM 100+. A bit pricey but satisfied. The owner is very friendly too.
Food a little pricey but tasty.Service to be improved as seems understaffed.Owners attentive to customer requests and food was very tasty. Will definitely be back next time.
Used to be one of the best Korean BBQ restaurants in Subang Jaya. Unfortunately, it has sadly become the very worst of them all. Nothing pleasant to mention about the food, the service, the ambience or whatsoever. Only allowed to refill the small dishes once & thats only up to 4 types of dishes only. Even my neighbouring table patrons mumbled under their breath that theyll never return again. Sorry Subangites, you guys can cross this restaurant off your list.
Been here for many years and the food quality had not been disappointing. If you dont mind to splurge a bit on food, give this place a try especially the kimchi jjigae. You know a Korean restaurant is good if their national kimchi jjigae is delicious 😊
Lovely place to have Korean BBQ. Fresh and not overly priced. Great service
Quaint little place, served Korean BBQ that is simple and decent. Also has set meals for lunch
Authenthic Korean food. One of my favourite korean restaurant.Staff was helpful and friendly. Food was great all the time.Price is on the high side but definitely worth it.
Authentic good korean food, they serve full course of appetizer. Will always come back!
One of the best Korean food by Korean. Lots of pancha. BBQ marinated to the bone. Service is not a 5 star. The price is on the high side.
used to serve great bibimbap and kimchi jiggae. food quality dropped and they have strict rules where they dont allow for sharing which is quite frustrating for small eaters. price on the high side.
We order set BBQ $280 (3person set,Ham kimchi jjigae....4 person total bill $361.90.BBQ beef and pork. The meat is hard and thick, the taste is bad .We only eat about 30% of it, the rest we took back for my dog. Very disappointed.USJ 10 Taipan
This is the most delicious Korea restaurant i eat so far, but the price is somewhat high, but here provide up to 10 side dish.Food quality is good, service is good. For different type of tea, taste too light. Here have set lunch is more affordable.
The food there was excellent and the service was good. Eventhough it had cost a little bit more compared to other korean bbq chain restaurants, the quality was certainly top notch, would definitely come back for more !
Came here for a dinner with my mom on a weekday.FoodI was welcomed by a variety of kimchi after ordering. The kimchi tasted pretty mediocre, nothing too special. I ordered their Spicy Beef Stew. Very much disappointed. Despite being served in such a big bowl, the portion was a bit on the lower end. As for the variety in the stew, nothing too special as well. There was no dry fern breke included in the stew, a staple ingredient in it, and the whole bowl tasted very average, not what I expected for what I paid. Not to mention, their self proclaimed korean kimchi, tastes bland and not well presented.DrinksI had their korean ice coffee, below average, and it costs 5 ringgit before tax, even a random mamak shop makes better coffee.EnvironmentI gotta agree with other reviews on the dated style, but it is fine with me. What is not fine with me is, their staff being loud when conversing with each other, I could hear them clearer than my mom right opposite of me, and what ticks me off is actually them being loud chit chatting random topics rather than conversing about topics related to their job.PriceAbove averagely priced, below average food and service. All of that plus the soon abolished gst, and service charge. The verdictNope, wont recommend dropping by as there are actually two better korean restaurants just around the area (one is dao rae, the other I cant remember its name).
Original korean BBQ restaurant .Taste good.Price reasonable.
We absolutely love this place. The staff and owners are very friendly and Our favourite is the generous portion of BBQ meats and their kimchi jjigae is definitely a must order dish!
Nice quality food but on a more pricey side. Friendly Korean owner.
It’s the perfect cosy Korean family restaurant for Subang residents. Unpretentious and honest business. BBQ is as amazing as their family style stews and dishes.
Place and ambience is a little dated, but fine for me. Food can get a little salty though. Kimchi is good and available for sale.
Food not fresh, and seafood set only octopus and clam - disappointed. Staff not friendly. Not recommended.
Great authentic Korean food. Keep coming back for good food with great flavours to match. May be on the pricey side though but has quality where it counts.
