Da Mario Budapest - Italian restaurant in Budapest, Hungary
Me and the wife found this after a wonder along the river and only stopped for drinks but after inspecting the menu we gave into temptation and were very glad we did risotto was amazing, pizza great and the tomato soup to die for also, great service (staff were super friendly and very helpfulgood prices too.Definitely worth a visit *****
Good food, but a bit expensive. Nice to eat outside.
The mozzarella of the pizza tasted like it was expired, and same for the parmesan cheese on top of my pasta. The garlic of the spaghetti aglio e olio was burned, and so the whole pasta tasted burned. Not italian at all.
Delicious food and great atmosphere. Plus their staff and patio was very accommodating to my small senior dog.
Friendly staff and good service.Tasty pizza :)
Overpriced restaurant when in Budapest you can find other places with better food and at lower rate.
Was recommended by friends who had visited pre-Covid candy had raved about it!!! I had risotto with seafood..it was fine, lots of risotto..2 tiny clams and 4 mussels. A Norwegian lobster, which is like a prawn…nothing to cut the shell. Nice location but very average food and service.
LEGENDARY gulaš was not so legendary, waste of money. Pork in wine sauce was quite ok, but the price is high, here you pay for views, not for food :)
Overpriced and we actually didnt enjoy neither the starter not the main (which never happens! The anipasti tasted like poor quality (like the stuff you buy in supermarketsand the carbonara was made with melted cheese which was super heavy and after a few bites it was hard to continue. They dont do takeaway boxes (we wanted to take the food and offer it to someone needy). They still use plastic straws in drinks and give you one by default :(They also dont want to give you tap water.
This is no longer the old Da Mario restaurant that we used to know before the lockdown, it was merged.Nice location, pizza was ok (I stole a slice from my partner), but I had the worse carbonara ever, it seemed a bit plate of omelette with some spaghetti inside. The waiter was very kind though and wanted to offer me the dessert instead (but I went there for a proper Italian carbonara, not really for a desert🙃). I give 2 start because they deducted my carbonara for the total bill and for the intention to offer the desert. Thank you!
This restaurant is one of the beat restaurant with toptop service in Budapest. The guy named doller was outstanding, really welcoming and service minded. He made our day:)
Went with a big group, food came over a long period so some finished their food just as others were getting it. Small portions (pasta). Food was only okay.
Went here for early dinner. Ordered pizza and a few drinks. The pizza took a a bit of time but it was worth the wait. Would definitely go back. The tiramisu was to die for.Would order again: Pizza and TiramisuBig should out to our server Mara. She was able to cater to us picky customers needs.Mara was very professional, proactive and friendly. She knew the etiquettes of service from replacing the right knife for pizza to placing the bottle label facing the customer to making sure the pizza was cut since it was being shared by us.Thank you Mara!
We had lunch here with my friends while visiting Budapest for bachelorette weekend. Food&drinks were allright, no complaint about that. Also the service when we were ordering was with no issue. But the whole experience from this restaurant was kind of ruind when we asked for a bill. We wanted to split the bill which was not possible and that would be fine. But the way the waiter Daniel was talking to us and informed us about that was very unpolite, almost rude... Therefor I would not reccomemd this restaurant as I think the communication with customers is huge part of dining experience.
What happened? Weve frequented Da Mario and always pretty good but now.. hmm... The Pizza was so-so. I think Pizza Me is probably better. The problem is the dough and crust. It is.. crumbly... The pasta is without much taste. The texture is good but weak on taste. A bit disappointed but we will still go back because the service is mostly good (there is one waiter who takes his time bringing the dishes... he cant be bothered... and the location is nice and lets just hope their kitchen gets back to where they once were...
Very overpriced. Ugly lighting. The food was quite good. The service seemed to be normal but once the waiter asked me what the food was like and I said that it was good just I thought the portion was too small and then the waiter started pulling faces. I would definitely avoid this place even if the food is quite nice.
We chose Da Mario to take family out for lunch because I had been there before COVID and liked it. The staff didnt let us reserve for the time we wanted because they had another group coming later. Menu was a mix of Hungarian and Italian - a bit of an odd mix. The atmosphere was not very Italian or Hungarian, with strong white lighting and the top 10 hits playing. The food was acceptable but overpriced. Staff were nice and helpful. All in all its another tourist trap, wouldnt go again.
Delicious coffee and pleasant staff. We sat outside with nice view and there were cosy blankets and heating lamps. The place is just for the drinks so it wasnt crowded. Restaurant part is just next to it.
The food was okay but very small portions (pastaand the amount of vegetables on the "vegetable" pizza was almost non existant (not even a whole slice of zucchini). The prices were way too high for the food we got. The service (tipsare automatically on the bill without a warning, and were very high!
The food was meh and the staff was rude. Does serving small portions on a large dish automatically make you an upscale restaurant? These guys seem to think so. And finally, why doesnt anyone think of the vegetarians?
Pretty nice Italian restaurant, the pizza and lasagna were not the best but quite okay. Friendly service and nice ambience.
Staff was so nice and welcoming, but the food needed seasoning as it was SO bland! Would definitely not recommend the lasagna nor the risotto! ( perhaps they changed the chef but the good old food pictures/reviews that they had have nothing to do with the current reality! )
The food is okay. The waiter is unfriendly and it is not possible to separate the bill which is not okay when you are there with nine people. Would not recommend the restaurant even though the Ambiente is nice.
Tasty food and reasonable prices.Great service from friendly staff.
A decent Italian restaurant near the parliament in Budapest. Seemed to be highly rated on all portals, but our experience wasn’t as good. Both dishes we ordered (marinara pizza and aglio olio pastawere just about ok.
Very good food! Went for a meal Christmas day afternoon good food and wine in a nice atmosphere! Worked out about £35 per head with eine, coffee and brandy!
This place deserves 7 STAR from its staffs to all kinds of foods. No need more details, just go and taste and see! Thanks to kind staffs and chef ✌️🙏
Great food. Great staff. Great location. Its easy to find this place near parliament. Its a wonderful stop along your tourist journey. The staff greeted me warmly and was perfectly attentive. I had tortelloni as my main and it was exactly what I needed. At the last moment I got dessert, tiramisu. Loved it.
Nice fine dining experience in a lovely part of town. Great for a romantic evening.
Italiano vero! This is one of the best italian restaurant in Budapest. We like the vibe, the enterieur and of course the food! Taste perfect! There is a wide range if wine and there are a few cocktail as well.
Fantastic Italian restaurant near the Hungarian Parliament building. Bread and oil whilst waiting, followed by bruschetta and rigatoni on a rich tomato sauce topped with sheeps milk cheese. A dishes absolutely delicious and very tasty. The restaurant is slightly high end so expect to pay a slight premium. Service was excellent and very attentive. Friend had tortellini in broth followed veal.
A really authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Budapest with a great selection of Italian wines. Not the cheapest Italian restaurant you can find in the city, but definitely worth it. Staff is attentive and friendly. Unfortunately often quite crowded as it is located near the parliament.
Great atmosphere and even better food ! We ate twice at Da Mario in our week long stay in budapest. Their pizza is exceptional and the service is great ! Also it is very near the the budapest parliament.Highly recommended
A fantastic, child-friendly Italian restaurant in the quiter part of the centre of Budapest. Great atmosphere, welcoming and professional staff complemented the impeccable menu. We tried the pizza, lasagne and salad, all which were authentic and tasty. We needed little convincing and finished our lunch with tiramisu and coffe. What a delight of a meal! Highly recommended!
Just amazing! All the food was fantastic, and in true European fashion, there was a proper delay between courses.
The food was absolutely delicious.. couldn’t have enough of the homemade lemonade.. highly recommended..
Pretty good Italian food, nothing special. Especially for the price. Waiter was a little bit awkward, he must have been new.
Lovely little Italian we found on one of the evenings when we stayed at BudapestSome excellent authentic cuisine and brilliant service from the staffHighly suggest for anyone visiting the area and loves some good pasta
I am so late posting this review, but as I type.... and the memories of 2 nights of awesome food and wine (yes I ate there twice, it was so goodall I can say is WOW. The food, the service, the atmosphere. Impeccable. I can only hope to revisit Budapest soon JUST so I can have dinner again at Da Mario. ❤
The best seafood spaghetti I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection. Staff were so friendly and helpful with the menu and wine suggestions. Didn’t feel as touristy as some restaurants. Definitely recommend!
The food is amazing. The service was very good. Typical meal here will be 20-30 euros. Highly recommend.
Great food and amazing service. Compliments to the waiters and the way they handled a large group with many different wine drinkers. The food was delicious and the wine was good. Pricewise very cheap compared to what you get. Finally the free limoncello shot was much appreciated.Only thing that should be improved is that they should tell you beforehand that the 12% tip is mandatory. I wouldve loved to tip because of the great service, but sadly it was already mandatory.
The food is very good, original italian food cooked by an italian chef. The place is good looking and the waiters are very nice. They have a wood oven for the pizza.
Great place for Italian food near parliament building. The pizza was delicious while the aglio e olio was decent. The service was excellent and the staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. The pricing was moderate with veg pizza costing 10 euros. They include a 12% service charge in the bill - though it is surely justified.
Absolutely perfect! Both food and service! Did not expect to be fantastic food! Ordered duck liver and stefania, blew my mind away and very reasonably priced!
Nicely designed place, very lovely with italian bits and bobs. The waitresses and the owner were very feiendly. Service is excellent.Food is delicious, a bit of italy in the middle of the city.
Delicious food !Very good service, pasta delicious (but a bit cold...and pizza excellent (cooked by real fire wood).
Pizza was great! Pasta carbonara was a bit undercooked and bitter. Nice staff I had a fun night.
Lovely pizzas! Really good base and crust. Toppings are ok if you pick one with ingredients they have fresh on the day, veg is a bit hit and miss. The cheese is perfect. The soup was basically cheese, which over powered the supposed pumpkin it was meant to be.The pastas had underwhelming sauces that came across as bland.
Defenetly you should eat here! Amazing italian restaurant! Service is incredible as well as the food and the wine!! Prices are really nice for the quality of food (Average price 8-10 euros). 100% recomendable
