Quirky Latin American eatery offering housemade dishes in a simple, convivial setting.
The food here is outstanding! We were greeted with hugs and birthday greetings ( It was my daughters birthday, and she and her fiance had just gotten engaged). We were treated with appetizers, a lovely meal, and a surprise birthday cake at the end. We were also told that we could bring Champagne--we did, and she brought out fresh-squeezed pineapple juice to make Mimosas! Wonderful experience!
Such an amazing experience. It is very clean. Everyone working there was so nice. It felt like I was eating a meal with my family and the food was amazing. I have never tasted anything like it. I was skeptical but I am so glad my husband brought me here. If we are ever in Montgomery again, we will be back! Thanks so much for your great hospitality!
Excellent food and service. Great unique restaurant to visit in downtown Montgomery.
I love this place. The owner is a wonderfully pleasant, kind woman that makes delicious food with the best of her heart and soul. You will be very glad you visited DRoad Cafe.
Great restaurant ran by the owner and chef. Great to see a warm latin reception and great food.
A gem of a spot! Well worth a try. As authentic as it gets. Wonderful hospitable owner/chef/hostess! Every dish an experience for the tastebuds. Ive never had Latin food quite like this before. We felt as though we had been invited to a familys table at home . There were foodies, groups meeting to catch up and regulars that knew all about that hot sauce, go ahead and ask for that if you like to amp up the heat. Its good on everthing- well maybe not the Plantains. I had 2 servings of those they were excellent. Yuca is available as a side. Dont expect the brisket to taste like a southern bbq its not. But flavorful none the less ( soft and carrying a punch. Metal chairs with burlap ribbon and some neat building materials with a splattering of art , and sunflowers make the place seem fresh, open and comfortable. Well be back.
One of my favorite restaurants!Fresh ingredients and authentic cuisine. The owner and staff are always cordial as well. Its rare at most places but the ENTIRE menu is good!Prices are very reasonable and the serving size is perfect!
We made a quick breakfast stop here on our way to Orange Beach in May. My wife discovered this gem online. The food was top notch, fresh and authentic. The owner was very friendly and treated us like her own family. Looking forward to next next time we pass through because we’re definitely visiting again.
Beautiful little diner in the heart of downtown Montgomery. The decor was adorable with a very elegant yet homey feel. The food was delicious, and the owner who is also the cook sticks to spices and dishes of the culture! Definitely recommend for lunch
DRoad Cafe is no joke! Authentic Latin cuisine. If you are in the mood for Latin, this is the spot. Maybe you havent tried it before, this is a great spot to try. I went with the Criollo (of course I had to add an extra order of plantains). Delicious.
This is what true ownership looks like!Everyone was delighted with their meal. Hearty, and nutritious. The owner personally made sure our diet restrictions were met, joked, chatted with us, and made everyone feel at home. A home-cooked meal was a very comforting light on a 9 hour car trip.Theres no worry about cut corners or poor quality here. Janet seems to ensure everything is up to her personal highest standard, the way shed feed her own family. What a blessing. Thank you, Janet! Well have to plan to stop by again the next time were cutting through the country.
Wonderful food and friendly service in a warm atmosphere. We were only passing through Montgomery or we would make this a regular spot for sure!
We have a lot of Venezuelan restaurants in DFW, and this is the best one weve ever been to. Found it at lunch time on a road trip and the entire family loved it. Wish we lived closer so we could come back.
Had a great dinner at DRoad cafe Janett and Jose made us feel like we were invited Into their home for dinner. Food was amazing dinner is only served on Friday nights by reservations only.
Great little place to try something new and get a taste if Venezuela. Had a really nice time, service was great, food was good, and atmosphere was very enjoyable.
Really good food and service is amazing, you get greeted since the moment you step in, very comfy place. They are very friendly, food tastes really good and price is just fair for what you are getting.I’m not a big eater but the portion I got for this breakfast was just right
Absolutely phenomenal food and service. Our host was amazing and 100% of the food was delicious. Highly recommended.
Food was amazing! Ms Janice was very very friendly! There was 15 of us. She served us a plate of a little of 8 different dishes. And closed it up with a chocolate truffle. Everything was cooked from scratch and was truly authentic Valenzuelan taste.
Food was absolutely delicious and the owner was so lovely! Very kid friendly. Will definitely visit again!
Fantastic food. The staff is great.
We stopped in during a road trip and we were so pleased with the brunch menu. The flavors and the aromas are worth the trip!
Came here based solely on a locals suggestion, not knowing what Venezuelan food was or could be. If youre in Montgomery for meal time, stop here! Food is SATURATED in FLAVOR. Service is friendly and fast. I cant imagine my life without this place now.
We were passing through Montgomery, so I googled breakfast options. The reviews looked encouraging, and we are so happy we dined at DRoad. The staff was very friendly, and the service was excellent. But the brisket Arepa was outstanding! We based our order on the owners recommendation, and she did not disappoint us. I highly recommend DRoad Cafe!
Hands down one of the most delicious places I’ve ever eaten. The owner is incredible and so friendly - you don’t find restaurants like this hardly ever! It’ll be my first visit anytime I come back to Montgomery
Lovely little cafe. Fresh Venezuelan food from scratch. Organic fresh and healthy. She makes fresh "hot sauce" but are brined vegetables. Very good and fresh.
THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. Customer Service was phenomenal as well, the owner was so friendly and accommodating to our party of 14. We had breakfast and the lunch buffet. Also, I ordered the pineapple juice and it was so fresh, I would come back just for the juice alone. This is definitely going to be my new spot.
Wow, the chicken melted in our mouths! Definitely stop here for beautiful South American-influenced food and flavours, served up by what will feel like your momma: with love and generosity. (Hot sauce lover? Check out the homemade sauce photos!!)
Was looking for a unique and locally owned breakfast option, and this place was amazing! Youre welcomed warmly upon entering (we were seated and served by the owner), and treated like a guest in their home for your entire stay. Its a cute yet lively setting, great for brunch with a few friends or even to just enjoy a lovely meal for two. The food was exceptional, they take pride in their dishes and it tells! We got the Crazy Eggs, the Criollo (at the owners recommendation), fresh pressed Pineapple juice, hot coffee with fresh cream, and the most fantastic homemade hot sauce (which they do sell by the jar 🤩)Will definitely be returning!
A super quaint and homey little restaurant! Amazing and delicious Venezuelan food!! And the owner is a super sweet makes you feel like you’re home!! Totally recommend it!!
Great food and service! The D’Road Cafe’s owner is so sweet and takes the time to ensure you have the best experience possible.
Amazing lunch food, incredible owner. Was like being served by family. Hot bar had three meats, rice, black beans and several vegetables. The homemade hot sauce and pickled vegetables were excellent. I would return and recommend to others.Only thing to point out: we didnt know the hot bar process nor the price. We didnt know if a second helping was included. Thus, we were a bit surprised that the cost was ~$34 for two people with water.
I forgot what this thing was called but it was sooooo good. The middle had this arepa de choclo in it with smoked brisket and cheese. Topped with an over medium egg that just oozed perfectly. I definelty plan on coming back to try some more menu items.
Gluten Free options. Fresh squeezed pineapple juice! That right there is worth it. This is such a beautiful restaurant. Eclectic! The ambiance is amazing. I felt like I was back home in my mothers kitchen. The food was fresh and amazing. The wait staff is so kind. Love it all!
This cafe was absolutely delightful. The owner was so sweet and told us all about her menu items, the hot food bar they have Tuesdays & Thursdays and her themed dinner nights. We were given samples and fresh salsa to go with our lunch. Everything was full of flavor! My girlfriend and I ate every last bite. Thank you for such a lovely meal, we will most certainly be back.
A hidden gem in Montgomery. Atmosphere, service, food and owner were Magnificent! A must visit during my next trip to the area!!!
The best! We decided to spend the day in Montgomery (we live in Georgiaand ran into this restaurant. The owner/ chef came to check on everyone, definitely worth stopping in.
Had some time to kill in downtown Montgomery, so I chose the closest restaurant to my appointment. Im so glad it was DRoad!! The food was amazing. I ordered the crazy eggs since Im on a keto diet and I had to forgo the arepas and beans. The eggs were so flavorful. Dont let the menu description sway you. I promise you wont be disappointed. My server, Rachel, was so friendly. I will be back for sure.
Amazing restaurant! ❤️❤️❤️ We will be back! - incredible latin flavors - Saludos amigos!
She is one of the nicest women I have met. She treats everyone like her child and knows me by name after about 3 visits. Her food is amazing, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the food is healthy without compromising on taste. I would recommend coming on an international night to get a good feel for the type of food she prepares. Bring your appetite!
Quaint diner with changing daily menus, health-conscious preparations, great coffee, and the sweetest ladies around! Would be a great option for daily lunches!
Hidden treasure! On the way back to Nashville from the Gulf Shores, this was perfect stop for lunch. Janett was so sweet! She seated us even though technically she was due to close in a few minutes. Food was amazing! 10/10 would come here again. Together the delicious food and great service make this a charming little spot. I hope to return soon and see what Janett has cooking for dinner!
If you havent been...youre missing out! No margarine, no flower, but wow...the flavor! Go visit Janett and youll not be disappointed in her fresh-prepared meals! Each Friday is a meal from another Country. Janett has this beat!!! (So good I went back two days later!!!)
Super cool artsy kinda funky but chill atmosphere. Service was tremendous and the breakfast? On point. Eggs perfectly fine, brisket was super moist, and everything delicious. Awesome little breakfast place
Love the atmosphere and unique flavors of the world! Different cuisine from all over the world with outstanding taste. Excellent service with great price.
First time I have ever had any Venezuelan type food. Good rotation selection of food. I am a picky eater and have always been able to find something. Give it a try and support a great hidden local gem.
Everything I had (pork loin, rice, eggplant, carrots & greenswas tremendous.A chill atmosphere with very polite & attentive staff.Update: I returned here four more times during my stay in Montgomery & the excellence continued. This is my favorite place to lunch in the city.
On my way home, I stopped by. Though the menu had a variety of breakfast choices, I decided upon the croissant sandwich. Lets just say, I wasnt disappointed. The place is nice and clean. The server was helpful and my sandwich was loaded, filling and delicious. I will be back. 😊
This restaurant is amazing, you must visit. I went here for a cooking class one night with friends and we had the best time. We were basically sous chefs, helping to create a Pakistani meal, yes, you heard me right and yes, this is a Venezuelan restaurant. The owner/chef, Janett, is that good. The food is all local, fresh and tastes fantastic. Aside from their standard menu and cooking classes, they also have other special nights for certain occassions. Definitely give this family run business your patronage; you wont regret it. Thanks! :-)
The Arepes were amazing!!! Honestly, Ive never had a bad meal here and the staff is so friendly. I dont understand why it isnt packed all the time! Oh, and the Almond Banana Cake was delicious!
Went to this awesome place this morning. As soon as we walked in Janet greeted us warmly. She then described a few of her menu items in detail. I knew the food was going to be good just by the way she talked about it. And she did not disappoint! The food was delicious and made with love the most important ingredient. I will most definitely be back! The hugs before we left didnt hurt either!
