Restaurant/bar with a beer garden that started as a meeting place for Czechs and Slovaks after WWII.
Nice since they done it up. Food and drinks Very good- authentic Czech and Slovakian cuisines.
Very good Czech Pilsner beer and two types of beers from teir own brewery, all very good! And exelent, delicious Czech and Slovak meals! And there is a shady, quiet garden behind the building . The staff is very friendly and obliging there. I was there for four times and i always enjoy it a lot!
We went first for a drink in the garden and loved it, so we decided to come back for dinner: hearty (but not overly heavyfood, great service, and good value wine. We loved everything we tried: the potato pancake with sauerkraut, the chicken snitzel and the potato salad. Highly recommended, especially on warm evenings when you can enjoy dinner in the garden!
Great little bar/restaurant in West Hampstead. Short walk down the road from tube station. Authentic Czech/Slovak cuisine and beer at ok prices. Really friendly staff and food and drink was fantastic. Tried Radegast. Saris and Pilsner Urquell lagers all of which were nice- see pictures. Had goulash with knedlik and vyprazany syr (fried Edamwhich were very nice. Will definitely visit again if in the area. Dakujem
Friendly place with strong Czech and Slovak heritage, good food and wide range of drinks. Nice beer garden at the back
What a feast! Reasonable priced and large portions!Get yourself there for some tasty grub!
Friendly staff and good selection of beer. Knuckle was good a bit too salty for our liking but tasty
I went there today with my boyfriend. We met with the chef Tomas. He admited they run out of "svickova" but he pointed out that there was traditional meal. I did not see it so we agreed we will have two portions. It was amazing. And I was surpried the prices did not go up there yet as everywhere else. We also loved the pancakes with red berries and cream. It was really delicious. Tomas the chef promised us that when we come next time he will make sure he will have the special dish "svickova". I am looking forward to make the trip to London just because of that. If I was the judge ai would give him 5 mishelin stars. I fully recommend it. And go there now before the prices go up. However, I would go there regardless the prices. Relly good food. Perfect date. x
I would say that its great to have Czech & Slovak restaurant in London. Food was very good and portions good enough. Its a bit pricey, but that is somehow acceptable if you dont go there often. Waiters are very kind and friendly, but it takes them soooo looong to come and serve you. They are not that much attentive and as a result, we didnt get to order the desserts, since they didnt come. Whether there is too small a number of waiters or they forgot about us. I suppose the first option is more accurate. One last thing you can consider is to broaden the selection of food, that you offer. Its good, but it could be even better! Overall experience: very good, but service...!
Great restaurant for czech and slovak community in London. Of course some things could be better and our people are judgemental but we should be grateful for having this type of restaurant and Im always happy to go back and enjoy the food that reminds me of home. So thanks for keeping it open!
Service friendly but food a mixed bag, some dishes good others a bit underwhelming, service was friendly, building itself a little echo-ey.
We loved everything we ordered - not pretentious bu ultra delicious and home made , and the gentleman who waited on us was super friendly. The starter suasage, the potatoe dumplings and the honey cake were my favourites. Will definitely be back!
Spent a lovely Saturday evening here. The main attraction for me is the superb range of Czech/Slovak beers but the food is amazing too. One minor drawback (which I was aware of, and maybe should go without sayingis a relative lack of vegetarian options. The potato pancakes are amazing though, as were the fried cauliflower as a main. Reasonably priced and big portions. Will definitely visit again when in the area. Plentiful seating but limited outdoors - so worth reserving if you plan on making the most of good weather!
Our local favourite! We come here almost every weekend for the delicious food and the great beer. Awesome garden and lovely service.
The food was delicious and good service I highly recommend it thank you for horalky...we will be definitely back
I invited my friends from different parts of London. I had accidentally made a reservation for another day. After a short wait at the reception, thankfully found the place. We sat in the backyard with 5 adults and 2 children. Food was good as always. Unfortunately, the staff were RUDE in a way we couldnt understand. Especially against kids. I definitely dont plan on going again! I hope one day they learn how to behave with a customer.
Had some nice Czech beers here, staff friendly and quick service. Well worth a visit. Book ahead to sit in garden at the back of the bar.
A decent Czech restaurant with a variety of typical dishes. The service is somewhat cold but that fits the style of the restaurant pretty well. The location is cosy.My rating: 3.7
Great place, fast and kind service. The food is delicious and plentiful. The best way to serve a beers of course in the jar, wow!
Not eaten here although the food looks hearty and good value. Fantastic Czech/Slovak beer and wine and a great relaxed atmosphere in the back garden. A hidden gem.
The food is very very bad. We ordered many dishes and none of them were good. Spent tonnes of money on tiny, inedible portions. The outside area is not really take care of. Also, the womens toilet smells of sewage. The staff was very friendly though.
What a gem to find! This was my third visit there. I absolutely love the atmosphere. It’s like walking into someone’s house for a daily visit and a nice meal. The food was delicious. Had the duck leg and a the battered cheesy sticks for a starter. Both out of this world delicious. Nice selection of check beers and a nice coke-like soft drink on tap. The desserts and the icecream especially were out of this world! All staff contributes to the lovely atmosphere and Our waitress Maria was an absolute star! Very attentive but not intrusive. She was very kind to answer all our questions competently and looked after our dog well! Highly recommend this place.
Great food! Generous portions! The price is right and the staff are wonderful!
Lovely authentic taste! You will love it (especially if you love beer)
Very disappointing experience. The chicken soup (£6.35was bland, not much of chicken flavour. Noodles not home made. Potatoes pancakes were ok. Breaded cheese, theres not much to ruin in here, maybe overpriced for something that is known as one of the cheapest food in Czech and Slovakia. Beer was good, staff friendly, helpful. Oh I almost forgot, the childrens playing area outside is a dump.
My friend invited me to this place of which he raves about as Ive never been to this place before. We were greeted warmly, although they were busy so service was a bit slow. However for a Thursday early evening that a good sign. I ordered the Pork Schnitzel my friend had the Chicken Schnitzel. I can say as a child of a Swiss mum & a cook myself, its the best Schnitzel Ive had since being in Vienna. Better than my mums to...hope she wont read this. Traditional beers are great. Very sweet people in a great atmosphere.
Food was great and really tasty. They didnt have the beer I wanted but suggested a replacement. Service was also OK. If you want some authentic Czech food this place is worth visiting.
Unique food and beer. Duck and cabbage top! I love to eat Czech cuisine once a month. Great and quick service. Open tap. I didn’t visit their garden yet but the atmosphere inside is a bit poor. I must say I have been there only during working days. Definitely worth a visit!
This is an authentic Czech pub, normally used for Czech people to gather and socialize. There’s a beautiful garden at the back, where you can chill, drinking beer and enjoying the traditional Czech cuisine. Think they also do Sunday roast, but you need to check and prebook as it gets quite busy!
I was born and raised in the Czech Republic, however, the best authentic Czech meal Ive ever tried was in the Bohemia House restaurant in London. I ordered chicken soup which was really nice. As a main dish, I had a duck with red cabbage and potato dumplings. I must say, this was better than my grandmothers (sorry nan). The duck was cooked for 8 hours and was falling off the bone, the cabbage was a perfect balance of sweet and sour. Simply no words. My fussy English partner was amazed with his beef goulash. Well, not only the food was amazing, but also the staff was welcoming and very kind.Whether you are Czech living in the UK missing proper traditional Czech meal or someone who is curious to try authentic Czech cuisine, please do visit Bohemia House.
Booked a space here for a reunion of colleagues and friends from our days working in Prague, as English Language teachers, in the 90s and had a fantastic evening. Top beer and hearty food - the dumplings are great - have been coming here for many, many years.
The menu is yummy & suitable for vegetarians too! There is more than one dish, you know. And “home made beer” is just a must!Friendly smiling staff (typical for Czechserved us in a lovely beer garden - yeah, the sunny day, lucky all the time. However, the insides rooms are very comfortable, clean & tidy too.Highly recommended if you want to taste the smell of the Czech republic without traveling too far or miss your home town...PS: Sorry, no pictures taken... 🤦🏻♀️ too busy to enjoy the company, food & drinks...
DO NOT GO. I don’t know what has happened to the place but this visit was shocking. We’ve ordered 5 different dishes and none of them was good. Very small portions and the taste was not representing how Czech food should taste like. Quality was awful. The garden was very dirty. The children play area was absolutely disgusting! Dirty. Not looked after for ages but what was worst - there was used dirty nappy just lying there under the trees next to some odd old shoe and other rubbish. In the middle of it we found a huge piece of glass! In children play area?!?! Seriously?!?!!! How can anyone open up their doors to the restaurant and think that this is acceptable?
Absolutely amazing meal (coming from an eastern european)! Amazing service, cute sun garden, lunch menu. 10/10!!!
Hidden gem! This looks a bit like a B&B on the outside but dont be fooled - its a fantastic authentic bar and restaurant with a cosy atmosphere. Brilliant beer, superb service and really delicious food. Highly recommend.
Great value meal and pints - my pork schnitzel was particularly juicy. Will be returning!
This was my third or fourth visit, and I loved it as much as the first time! Friendly, attentive staff who are chatty but dont pester you. Food is absolutely delicious - hearty, authentic Czech and Slovak dishes thay Ive found to be perfect every time. Its homely, welcoming, and I recommend it to everyone! You wont leave hungry and its outstanding value for money.
Great Czech food in London and kofola (hard to find Czech soft drink)on draft! Good beer selection too. I got the svickova and garlic soup for lunch and they were great. I hope to go back soon.
Service is great.Good beer and food. One beer around £5Main Dishes above £10.4 x beer2x main dishLittle less than £ 70 incl. service charge.Farr to much for 2 person dinner. Was great years ago.But its not attractive anymore. And menus is quite basic.
Satisfying experience. The building is historical and you can enjoy nice atmosphere for indoor dining. Outdoor dining also feel like in beer hall. Beer & food is good quality. I rated 4 bcz i wish they had more czech authentic menu.
This is a simple, laid back place with a really nice back garden/ seating area. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Good beer on tap and a decent selection on the new menu. This place is well worth a visit if you feel like some Czech food.
Whenever I feel like I miss Czech cuisine this is my favourite place to go. I have to say Zdenek really made a difference since he took on. Food is delicious and its served in max 10mins, service is really nice and fast, they always come to check on us if we are fine and have everything.
New management and new menu at Bohemia House. The food is still good but I missed being able to pair my schnitzel with my favourite, the fresh potato salad (not even an option as a side). Alcohol prices have taken a hike with pints starting at £5 vs the cheap £3.5 we got accustomed to. Some classic dishes (some of them crazy onesare out of the menu too which is not a bad thing as sometimes it could be a little too long an overwhelming.Good changes include more space to sit outside, being able book over the web and service (table service at the Czech House!is attentive and friendly.
The quality of serving beer there has improved as well as the selection has increased significantly. You can pick your favourite one from a major Czech and Slovak brands, even including pretty new one brewed in London! I love it
This is a great place for excellent Czech food. Everything we had tasted authentic, the staff were very friendly and the service efficient. We will definitely return for some more Czech classics!
Visited this the first weekend lockdown of restaurants were over. Generous portions and friendly service. Ive never had Czech food before so they did half portions for me to try more. The beer garden was also lovely. Would go back again :)
Finally, so much has changed since the new owner take over! The whole place is decluttered, cleaned, menu shortened (finally!). The food is excellent and fresh from what I can see, beer is now really good (it was disaster before).I highly recommend a visit. I was pleasantly surprised 😮
Great Czech beer done properly! Very nice staff, trying their best. Food is very tasty and good quality, but the amount of choices and price/portion is questionable... Set menu is a good idea, but some smaller menu especially with some beer snacks on the side would help a lot! Also I would appreciate some Czech/Moravian wine rather then random european places, after all... it is Bohemian house!
Great service, authentic Czech food and beers served with a smile! Extensive menu (in English and Czech!which required not one but three Czech friends to help me navigate! Could do with the music (top 50 music videosat a lower volume, though. Also a bit draughty - but I’m sure it’s fine during the summer months.
Very good Chuck Norris food. Warning: if you are hungry be mindful of the slow service. I had to shave twice before the food arrived. My clothes went out of fashion. Amazing beer garden. Solid 4 star if it wasnt for the wait... (60min+)
