Czech Slovak Restaurant - Czech restaurant in Prague, Czech Republic
Czech Slovak Restaurant in Prague
Description
Privilege
A lovely cosy restaurant serving Czech cuisine with a modern flair. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Great selection of Czech and European wines. English spoken here as well.
MoreI only really went into this restaurant because it was close to the hotel and the menu wasnt all Czech specialities. It was also quite busy, always a good sign. Once in, it was a very pleasant surprise with quite elegant food, well presented and a very knowledgeable sommelier.I had the pork pate and the fried cheese with chips.Pate looked very nice and tasted better. Fried cheese was very filling and I could not finish it. I could probably have done with some more of the mayonnaise for the chips as well as the cheese. The star of the meal was the wine. I asked for a nice white by the glass and was given two local Czech wines to taste. One was a Chardonnay and nice but the other was a sauvignon gris from the northern Czech Republic. I had not tasted this grape variety before and found it complex enough to complement food without being too heavy.Overall a good find and certainly a place I would try again if I were in the are, if only for some more of that wine.
MoreNice place with tasty food. Service was quick and polite. It was our first restaurant we visited in Prague, as the menu was interesting with not so high prices and it was not very far from the city centre and our hotel. Overall, we were satisfied with the visit and saved this restaurant to bookmarks, thank you.
MoreCzech Slovak was a recommendation from a friend who had recently visited and we were delighted by both the food and the service. The attention from the staff and the discussions and options on wine pairing for many of the courses was a special treat. Each course was great, but the mushroom soup, duck, and venison were all standouts. The adventurous wine options added so much to the experience.A highlight of our trip and one of the most enjoyable meals Ive ever had.
MoreThe service was excellent and the food!! Omg the food!!!!I ordered the Czech burger and I was not disappointed, for dessert we ordered the flamed pear with cheese and our minds were blown!Definitely recommended. Worth every penny
MoreExcellent. If this was in Paris, DC, or New York, this would be a two star Michelin. The restaurant is completely family run. The food is high quality, complex and delicious. Always go for the wine pairing as it’s all Czech wines - an amazing experience. They don’t import. So if you’re into wines come here for the tasting menu and wine pairing. Very impressive and a true palette adventure. Couldn’t recommend more.
More70% Absinthe Flambé Red Pear is my favorite dessert now. Amazing place!
This restaurant is amazing and I highly recommend you try and visit. It’s small and there’s no AC so on a hot summer night it’s not the most comfortable, but the staff is very friendly, helpful, and professional! The food is traditional, it’s not a big portion by any means, but the quality is good. The flamed pear with absinth for dessert was awesome. Nice view of the park/hill and easy to get to by walk or public transit.
MoreVery Nice food. The place is very well located in a touristic area. The waiters treated us very well. The average price is 10-15 euros for a dish!
MoreThe food wasnt bad but customer service was AWFUL. When we sat at the table there were already utensils that didnt look fresh. The pair of guests sitting next to us admitted that they were sitting there before. When we ASKED waiter to change them for us he told us "But nobody were sitting there before you".Later I saw four guests leaving the restaurant and two of them didnt use their untensils. The waitress choose NOT TO TAKE THEM BACK to the kitchen. Then, when serving dishes to adjacent table she took one of those and handed them to another guest. Although they might have been clean it is really not hygienic and especially in times of Covid it is super unaware and disgusting for restaurant to act this way.The food itself wasnt very bad, but both price-quality and price-quantity ratio was poor.
MoreSurprisingly we were the only ones at lunch time, the services was very quick. Both mains we tried looked and tasted great.
MoreGreat food and amazing service. Very nice location, and easy to get to with trams passing by right outside. I was here twice, and Ill definitely return again in the future. Highly recommended 😊👍
MoreAmazing food amazing service, waiter with great patience and the food is delicious! The beef is just spectacular!
MoreNice restaurant, pleasing atmosphere.Food was delicious also staff was pretty friendly for sure will come back.
MoreVery good food, especially very good beer, very good service and affordable prices, would come back every time!
MoreThe taste of food was quite good and the stuff was friendly. But, the green salad that we ordered as side dish (almost ~ 7 Euroswas double so expensive than the tasty goulash soup. So go & dine there, just be careful about ordering a salad :D
MoreWonderful! Went for lunch and got the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon. The meat was perfectly cooked, and dish had tons of flavor. They cant make the traditional Czech dishes as gluten-free, but all the grilled meats can be ordered when gluten-free sides. Lots of options for excellent Czech wines by the glass. Highly recommended.
MoreWe discovered this place after petrin tower visit (its in front of the funicular entry). I went with my family (7 peopleand could take a sit without any problem. Waiting time was so good and the food as well. Special mention to the Czech plate and goulash. If you love wines, you will find a lot of them available and the waitress explain everything you have to know about them before taste.Very recommended
MoreVery tasty typical Czech food for a fair price. Homebrew beers were good as well.
MoreGreat food, clean facility, nice staff! If you’re not a vegetarian try the Czech plate… it’s amazing!
MoreThe chef was extraordinary and the service was above and beyond! We will come back and tell all our friends and family about this place! Highly recommend
MoreWonderful 8 course experience in a familylike atmosphere, made me fall in love with Czech wines. Traditional foot with a fine dining, nouvelle quisine twist. If you have the time to spare (took me and my wife about 3,5 hours for the whole dinnergo for it.. and do it woth the wine pairing.. it is SO worth it..
MoreWe just ate here and it was wonderful. I did a lot of research to find a nice fine dining experience and this was perfect. It was all Czech focused. When you walk in it seems like a normal restaurant but they then took us to the fine dining side. I think they could advertise that better. Then we got to the fine dining and it was 6 or 8 courses. We chose the 8 with the wine pairing. Total was around $100 each with the wine. The 8 on their own was around $65. It was awesome. They came and talked through each course and offered 2 wines to try with each course and you could choose. The food was so good and I feel so full! The staff was perfect! If you want a fine elevated experience, please try this!!!
MoreWe tried the six course tasting menu with wine pairings for lunch today. We are both gluten free and the staff was able to modify the menu for us so that we could enjoy all of the courses. We really enjoyed all of the food; were both pretty new to Czech and Slovak cuisine and the menu gave us an excellent introduction to the flavors. Despite being a rather upscale interpretation of the food, the focus on locally sourced products and the friendly service grounded the experience. For each course we got to choose between two applicable Czech or Slovak wines, which was very unique and appreciated. I also liked that it was a family business: our waitresss brother grew and slaughtered the pig whose belly we enjoyed, for example. Overall despite being upscale it felt like being welcomed into somebodys home. The food and wine was of course all excellent, and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.
MoreFood was really really delicious! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. We had the goulash soup, the pulled bork burger and the czech plate, everything was super tasty. Go there!! :-)
MoreFlawless food and great ambience in a great location in Prague 1. Great prices, too!We had a Fried cheese to share, my friend had a Czech plate and I got spare ribs, as in the picture below. Craft beer from the house were very pleasant.
MoreUnfriendly and unprofessional staff! We have booked a place over there phone and came within 20 mins. Though the place was packed, tiny table and there was no air , as we were with a small child we decided not to stay there as it seemed uncomfortable to us.We apologized by the waitress , but she started lecturing us and telling us off. We understand that we have caused an inconvenience, but it’s not professional of them to talk to people like that. So with this attitude, no recommendation.
MoreGood local food place if you are near by the Eiffel mini park
The best food I’d ever had. Everyone there are so nice and all the meals exquisite. Definitely will go back to Czechia just to eat there again (I’m from Mexico)
MoreWere lucky to get a table without having a reservation but i strongly recommend you to book a seat if you decide to go there. The food is really delicious, the serving is fast while the personnel is friendly and willing to help. The place is quite cozy and intimate. If you come to Prague i really recommend to visit this place!
MoreCosy atmosphere, delicious plates and friendly staff. The perfect place to have a lovely dinner in Prague.
MoreThe service is awesome. We had 12 people in our group and the restaurant gave us our own space which look fancy with many cutlery and pinkish mood lighting just beside the cosy main area. The restaurant also gave us free beer tasting, which taste really good, we had to order. I ate beef goulash, it was ok. But other dishes was really good
MoreIt is a perfect fine dining restaurantI would highly recommend all my friends who want to visit Prague ❤️
MoreOne of the best restaurants in Prague. Very reasonable prices for absolutely delicious food with great presentation. Make sure to try thers beer. One more thing : reservation is required otherwise place is constantly booked for Very good reason.
MoreSuch a lovely place and staff. We had the 6 course tasting menu. Both me and my girlfriend have dietary restrictions and they were very forthcoming in adjusting the menu. Crown on the whole experience was the wine arrangement which offered mainly Chzech wines. Only minus point is the interior which looks a bit tacky (purple light), but dont let that fool you!
MoreSmall bistro with Czech food but served in a more modern fashion than at most other traditional restaurants. The place has a minimalist feel to it, both interior and menu wise. The prices are average for Prague.
MoreTasteful meal, good beer, funky waiter :-D Overall very good and worth to visit. Only remark from my side is a portion of meet, which was pretty small even for lady. If you wanna experience nice traditional Czech kitchen, go here.
MoreElegant dining for not much more than the average Czech prices. They serve a very tasty stout. Elegant reduced and a bit hipstery but nice atmosphere. They overdo the fine dining feeling a tad with cotton gloves while serving non polished cutlery but the service is so sweet and friendly that it leaves much more a smile than anything else.
MoreWhat an amazing night we had! Comfortable family owned restaurant with a modern twist on Czech cuisine. We had the 6 course menu with the wine pairing and loved it! We will definitely be back
MoreI went there with my friends. We were 4 and the idea was to try traditional food. We ordered 4 different main dishes, side dishes, wine, beer and desserts. The food was overall tasty but not special and maybe not really traditional, rather than touristic. I was disappointed when I asked the waitress, how much grams of meat was the steak and she answered 250grams. My friend asks how many ribs is the dish with the ribs and she said 3 ribs. The food comes and guess what: the portions were extremely small. My steak was mostly 100grams and my friends plate was *1 rib*. We just laughed... the side dishes were good except the fried potatoes that were less than 20 pieces. We order desert and the bring chocolate cake that was not warm with ice cream. First time I see combination of non warm sweet work ice cream but nevermind. The portions of dessert were 2 bites the sweet and 3 bites the ice cream.Summary:I wouldnt go to this restaurant again to try traditional food. I wouldnt never go to this restaurant if I am hungry.... *very small portions*. I hope they become more honest or maybe the waitress becomes more knowledgeable about the food served.
MoreI took my friend here to try czech cuisine and it was a great choice! We were very happy with the food and service. The prices were also fine. What I didn’t like is that the guy at the reception asked for the tips in a very indisputable manner. If I would like to leave the tips I would do it myself, don’t decide for me how I should spend my money…
MoreGood but not enough to do the 8 course menu again. Thought the dishes were well-prepared and the wine pairings worked generally well. But although the dishes were good quality, several dishes were a miss on taste.
MoreWhenever I come to Prague I have dinner here. Always recommend this place to friends, family and anyone else who listens, since it serves great food, own-brewed/distilled beverages and has a story for whatever you order. The price vs quality is amazing so I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. (The picture was our main course, absolutely amazing).Ps they not only had a great alternative menu for my friend who doesn’t eat pork, but the wine pairing with this menu was also custom made and perfect!Extra credits to Honza (Janfor the great evening
MoreUnfortunately, a disappointing experience. We ordered two main courses (Goulash and Duck confitand some local specialty- grilled smoked cheese. While sitting there waiting for our food we saw other tables got served (one of them with 4 people who came after us). After sitting there for like 45 minutes we were served cheese. We asked the waitress when we can expect the main courses, and she said that they always serve starters before the main course (the cheese wasn’t on the starters list, but any way it took them 45 mins to serve it), and that the main courses are almost ready (“just 5 more minutes”). After 10 more minutes we finally got the food. Duck was good and the Goulash wasn’t (the beef was not tender in any way, and was really hard to chew). I’m pretty much sure that there was some problem and maybe they had to re-do the dish, but as a customer I expect to be at least notified that there would be a delay in stead of just waiting for something and receiving fried cheese after 45 minutes. Not sure if it’s a rare single case (coz reviews are mainly positive), but the way the crew managed this situation was awful (and the waiting time as well). The pricing is good btw.P.S. another waiter was also putting the knife and fork directly on the table (without any napkin), which makes you question their approach to hygiene)
MoreIve spent a fair bit of time in Prague, and I keep coming back to this restaurant. Their food is true to the Czech style of food, their spirits are local and of the highest quality, wine selection is always on point.Their prices are more than affordable and the dish you get are always perfectly portioned. I mean this when I say that it is undoubtedly my favorite restaurant in Prague.Go check them out, they are welcoming and amazing at explaining everything from wines to spirits. The staff is friendly and youre guaranteed to have a great time.(I would have posted a pic of the main dish, but it was so appetizing that I had to dig in straight away :D )
MoreIf only there were 10 stars to give this place. WOW what a great restaurant! This place is run by a family ever since its opened. Great ambient, and well designed. Now, to the food - so what they do is taking a traditional Czech food and give their own adaptation. And its just great! I had the tasting menu and EVERY dish was just perfect. Interesting ingredients from local farmers/wineries/local cheese and so on. There are a lot of ingredients that they are making in house. I think the pictures are speaking for themselves. And the cost is ridiculous for what youll get. Like I said, 10 stars!
MoreI went there for my mom’s and my birthday (YES its the same day!😅I am an expat living in Prague for almost 3 years now. Extraordinary service comparing most of Prague - lots of celebration (top place to celebrate special days - just let them knowvery unique tasty food yet still huge portions. And the price is total value and no where compare to other EU countries with similar food and service.
MoreGood starters (gnocchi and goat cheeseand the mains were almost good, but didnt quite work. The pork tenderloin looks interesting but the parts didnt really come together into a coherent whole. The venison stews sauce was just too heavy and salty for us, started off great but quickly became a chore to eat. Friendly service and quite a charming place, so Id say worth a try, but dont arrive with sky high expectations.
MoreVery good food, but make sure you book in advance! There are few tables because it’s a family run business. Waiters are passionate about their food and explain each element of a dish and what wine pairing goes best with each!Only complaint was there were a lot of small flies attracted to my red wine but not bad. Duck was good, gnocchi was also good!
MoreFound this place on Google while we were in Prague for the weekend and called for a table. Its small, so I would recommend a reservation. As soon as we showed up, it became apparent that this was going to be a good experience. Everything, from the service to the food to the wine pairings was absolutely fantastic! I would recommend going for the tasting menu (only if youre HUNGRYwith wine pairings. The wine list has obviously had a lot of thought and care put into it. We tried some great wines from the Czech Republic and the surrounding areas, and they all went amazingly with the food they were paired with. The food was lovingly prepared and Ive honestly had worse meals at places with Michelin Stars. For the price, this was the best meal Ive ever had, hands down. Maybe the best meal, even regardless of price. Cant wait to go back!
