Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park - Saskatchewan - in Meadow Lake, Canada
Had a quick stop at the park, but enjoyed some beautiful views, great fresh air and a relaxing autumn drive.
Absolutely my favourite place to go camping. Beautiful place that is well taken care of. Lots of things to do as well.
The roads around the park are in terrible shape. The outrageous costs to eat at the restaurant or have an ice cream were borderline criminal. And the campgrounds just had weird things in it operations, like who closes a bathroom for cleaning at 8 AM?If I wasnt there for an event I sure wouldnt waste my time camping here.
I think I have to see a lot more such as the walking trails to increase 4 stars to 5. Beautiful grounds and thrilled for the volleyball on site and kayak rentals. Get a list of to-dos while there!
Cypress Hills is s beautiful park. You can do tons of things here like zip lining, star gazing, geocaching, hiking, or checking out some of the park activities. In the past, we have done a night walk which was fun. We learned something new and our guide was amazing!
My family had a great time. There were lots of activities and the facilities were clean and cared for. I highly recommend it.
Loved camping here. Great hiking paths and a lot of things to do.Would have given it 5 stars, but some of the campsites are strange and it made setting up a little challenging.
Beautiful park with lots to do; please dont booze it up at the store off of the museum section and drink and drive.
Beautiful place for camping and stay long.
More people swimming in the pool than the "lake" Im sure due to the high risk of swimmers itch. We were in a newer part and while the restrooms were great(and cleanI dont understand why they would clear cut an area to make a campground, replanting new little trees. Only one beach area that allows pets and the parking is taken by people on kayaks and paddleboarders.
Beautiful park, giant bright stars at night. The boat dock to rent a row boat.. theres 2 staff members an older guy and a younger guy were disrespectful to our family and made us family members upset and not a good experience afterwards.Staff complained that there was a small amount of wet grass on our row boat, told us they refused to clean it and then scolded us for it. We paid 68.00 for a poor afterwards after an hour ride.Sorry but if you have a job, you have a job.. its not all about soaking in the sun scolding young kids and older adults
This provincial park is one of the best campsite in Saskatchewan. The mosquito is bad but surprisingly in Cypress Hill Park their is none. And campsite is spacious and trees are high you can feel mother nature. Lots of activities as well for the whole family.
Been there two years in a row now. Lots of walking/biking trails. General store has almost everything and is very reasonably priced. Enjoyed the ice cream and food at Dar’s Little Dipper. My only complaint is there is not much around for water/lakes but the small lake in the park is still fairly big enough to enjoy for a couple hours.
Seemed a long way off the highway but we were tired . Didnt take long after some sleep to get back to highway. Nice sites. Lots of kids but quiet in the evening
Have missed camping the last 3 years ...my daughter and hubby and grandchildren were there and i took my old trailer too ...nicest place to spend some time together.
I think this is one of the best parks in Saskatchewan. Lots to do. Very nice campsites some are very spacious. I like Rainbow thats where we tented. Clean bathrooms and shower house.
Nice place to unwind, decent number of family activities 👍
Cypress Hill Centre Block is by far the best provincial park in Saskatchewan. This piece of beauty, trees, animals, Flowers and outstanding staff is what makes it that much better. This is the one must stop park in Saskatchewan for everyone!
Beautiful place to camp
Beautiful Interprovincial park, camping amongst the Lodgepole pine trees. So much to do there. E- Bike, canoe, kayak, cabin, townhouse & paddle boat rentals. Fine dining @ Ivans. Horseback riding, zip lines, Segway rentals, hiking paths, pool, pizza & burgers, mini-golf. The best stocked store Ive seen! Close to so many attractions. Night sky sanctuary, Wildlife viewing.
A stunning forested oasis in the middle of the gorgeous Saskatchewan plains. The air was sweet from the pines and the visitors areas relatively unburdened with excess guests. Staff were knowledgeable and fun while being incredibly helpful when called upon. We will be visiting again and hopefully often.
Beautiful place! Nice hikes! Loved our sunset visit to Bald Butte.
Love it, clean well maintained campgrounds, wonderful forest with few pesty insects and deer, moose and birds
Its just beautiful reminds me of home B.CStafe is friendly and lots to do. Im staying here till September
Great weekend stay in 3 bdr cabin at CH resort with 3 gen family getaway. Hiking, snowshoes, skating, x-country skiing trails, sledding and luge runs.
Excellent nature park to unwind yourself with lot of activities & excursion to Fort Walsh Historic Site / Highway 271 & T.Rex dinosaurs are places of interest
First time at Cypress Hills this year. Its a fantastic park. Would recommend at least 4 nights stay to take everything in. Washrooms were very clean, including the odd outhouse building. Nice warm showers you dont have to pay for and free campfire wood. Hiking trails are very well groomed. All employees in the park were very friendly. Hardly any tree coverage in the Meadows campground, would highly recommend selecting a site on the outer edge. Water craft rentals are very reasonably priced and enjoyable.
Cypress Hills has an eco system different from the surrounding areas. It’s beautiful with forests and lakes, and dark night skies! There are excellent services, and activities like swimming, horseback riding, mini golf, and an observatory with a big telescope. Two ice cream shops in the park are mandatory stops!
Amazing place for day trip with family or group of families and weekend trip. Camping and bed and breakfast available. We enjoyed swimming and canoeing.
Love this campsite. We usually try to tent in Deer Hollow. Walking distance to showers.
The park is well organized. There is plenty of activities to do. Had an exceptional time and would come back again. Park is very clean and well kept.
A beautiful park with much to do. There are a few activities to keep kids and adults engaged including the zip lining and seg way tour. The seg way tour was really fun and we learnt some interesting info for our guide. The area is beautiful and one must see the cliffs. There are lots of hikes from all levels of skill. Fort Walsh is worth seeing to gain an appreciation of how easy we live nowadays. Campsites and facilities are nice. One note: lodgepole pine have their pines up high so there is little privacy between campsites. Otherwise, this area is great. There are plenty of dining options and the general store has lots of goods incase you forgot even the most obvious such as food.
This is my 2nd time visiting cypress hills. We camped in centre block in the meadows campground this time and I wasnt impressed with the campsite. It was basically an open field with rv sites. The first time I camped here, we stayed in an incredible campground surrounded by lodge poles. I wouldnt camp here again unless I could get the same campground as the first one.Points of interest: sunset at Lookout point and Blad butte have amazing views. Both areas require driving up some dodgy roads and bald butte is a short hike up a Lil trail. Bring good shoes!
Beautiful park and many outdoor activities. Although some were closed Monday and Tuesday so check in advance if staying during those times. Some of the activities are also not operated by the park but in the park boundaries. All facilities are absolutely spotless, nicest showers and bathrooms that I have seen so far at a provincial park.
Fun experience camping. Great sites and activities In cypress hills and neighbouring town maple creek
Weathered a prairie storm in relative comfort. Friendly and helpful staff, very clean facilities. Well equipped all around. Would happily visit again!
We spent the weekend camping here and it was a blast. We walked and biked the trails, walked down to get ice cream exploring the lake on the way. We didnt try the mini golf and the pool wasnt open yet and not sure when it will be due to Covid. Next time we would like to try the restaurants. There is also the zipline park here that looked amazing. The park is very clean and well looked after. We saw park rangers and park employees everyday multiple times driving around and talking to people. We saw moose, deer, frogs, geese, tons of birds in the few days we stayed.
Beautiful park with lots to do and see!!Family and pet friendly!!
Absolutely stunning views. After driving past some "cattle at large" we came to the top of a hill and were blown away by the view of the prairies below. We literally said, "WOW!" in unison.
There is so much yo do in the area and ths staff was awesome. The photos are from logge pole campsite to reservoir lake. It was a great day!!
My favorite place in Saskatchewan. The park has lots of wildlife. Theres wonderful hikes for all different abilities. The loch is a great place to swim paddleboard. Lots of wonderful snacks and ice cream. Youll never fall short of something to do. The sky has wonderful visibility at night for stars like never before.
Vast variety of very well maintained walking paths. Friendly, well informed staff. Park Activity Kit (PAKwas a nice touch.
Beautiful place to eat a quiet meal. Facilities were clean. Plenty of places to put garbage. The time of year we were there left the park pretty quiet. I would say when it is busy you are pretty close to your neighbor. That said, there are plenty of books and crannies to find some alone time. The scenery is to die for.
Great area to hike and explore, kids loved the beach. Fort Walsh will take you back in time. Well worth the drive. We will be back to do some more exploring!
Spanning over 2 provinces, the sights are spectacular. Many camping areas provide a coziness not experienced at other campgrounds.
Wide open skies with plenty of trails to explore. Lots of birds and other flying creatures. A great interpretive center that give both the history of the area and close up critters. Grand kids loved it.
This is a large provincial park on the Alberta and Saskatchewan boarder. There are multiple campgrounds, day use areas, beaches, and boat launches. It is located in forested hills with multiple lakes. Each campground has different levels of utilities from no services to full services with power, water, and sewer hookups. We choose Firerock Campground with power only to save some money. This turned out to be a mistake. Our campsite was lakeside, but it was also an open field with no shelter from a windy, stormy night. The shore was muddy and weedy. However, it was only a short walk to the beach, dock, shower house and playground. The shower house had lots of parking, lots of sinks and showers with free hot water. The campsites were level, easy to park the motorhome in but no privacy. We could see other campers in the woods nearby and wished we had camped there out of the wind.
Food is top notch at Buglers restaurant elkwater lake lodge and resort.... as of march 2018.. the chef quit so the food will go back to being disgusting! The place is a hell hole. Full of mold and not clean at all. Very unappetizing. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy! Its absolutely filthy and unkept.
Such a cool park on the prairie! It is very much like northern Saskatchewan or Jasper. The park is covered with lodge pole pine and has many different campsites. The bathrooms and showers are impeccable and cleaned everyday. Cant wait to visit again!
Hidden gem of the Alberta Provincial Park system and an island of mountain-like terrain in a sea of prairie. Hiking, canoeing, biking, golfing, and fishing are just some of the summer activities. Lots of campgrounds, ranging from full hookups (Elkwater Mainto walk in tenting (Spruce Coulee). Three lakes to choose from, although only Elkwater allows gas powered boats. The Cypress Hills have much historical and geographic significance, from the NWMP outpost at Fort Walsh to being the northern headwaters of the Mississippi River system. The Cypress Hills are also the highest point in Canada between the Rocky Mountains and Labrador. Part of the Cypress Hills have variously been part of the French Empire and then the United States but were subsequently ceded to what became Canada.
