One of an area chain serving inventive Indian street fare, including vegan & gluten-free options.
I love it here!! Get the hella vegan burrito it comes with samosas in it 😍😍 everything is soooo tasty and the people who work there are nice. Sometimes understaffed so be patient. They have a bathroom there. Parking is weird. Also the fried ravioli is good.
The food is so good I walk 15 minutes to eat it sometimes
Oh! An impromptu stop with work colleagues today. We ordered a variety of things (and ice creamand it was so good. I had the paneer tikka masala bowl with seasoned rice and daal. It was the best Indian food Ive had in the Bay Area.
Family favorite, we love the sexy fries, samosas, and Punjabi by nature burritos
Awesome food the vada-pav was really awesome.. wish you had a shop near Pittsburg
Food is good at reasonable price. Friendly customer service. I’ve only tried one item of my order. I’ll definitely come back to try other menu items.
Nothing fancy, delicious food in great portions.
Love this place, the food is amazing and you get it fast.
Amazing food!!! I love the naughty naan’s!
I love the food! The Tikka Masala bowl is one of my favorites. Taste fresh and flavorful. Food was delivered hot, which is a plus. Also tried the Chicken Street Tacos which are DELICIOUS! The Kulcha Naan was fresh and not over cooked. Don’t forget to order the chutney duo. 😋
I just left from here, I have been going to curry up now for over a year and always order the same exact order : butter ghee chicken rice plate.i got my order and was suspicious of the darker color of meat, it even made the sauce look darker than normal, i was confused, and asked to make sure my order was chicken - i was assured it was.i began eating but the dark color, weird texture and very off taste made me suspicious, i noticed the meat was charred in a way that chicken could never be. i asked the cashier/service for an order of butter chicken to go, since i received (we think lamb - my two other friends tried it, looked at it, pulled it apart and agree - it was not chickensomething other than that originally, he agree but warned that i would simply be getting the same order since the dish was certainly chicken (he never looked at itand offered that i accept the tikka masala chicken instead, i was confused, but agreed since i did not feel like i had another option.it was not. chicken. for some reason the cashier refused to give me an order of butter chicken even though that’s the only thing i actually like, insisting it would be the same. overall, awful customer service. if you think it isn’t what you ordered, you’re probably right.
The taste is good and the place is clean. The reason for giving a lower score is1. You have to order to go on the app even if you are in the restaurant2. I wish they could have a large size to let me choose.
I’ve accepted this as my favorite burrito around. It just makes sense to me. Paneer☺️ and you heard right free chai
Went here before catching a show at the new parish. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the concept is pretty cool too (fusion between Indian street food, Mexican classics and American food). The portions were big and tasty!
This place is the best!!! Get the samosas, they are perfection and huge. The staff are so friendly and the place is very clean, and our order is always ready to go on time!
North Indian Thali with deconstructed samosa filled us up deliciously.
Delicious food and great atmosphere. Staff is very kind and helpful. Definitely recommended!
I normally do not write harsh reviews but I am so compelled to do so after our experience today at the Oakland location. This place seriously needs to step up for the price it charges.1. You need better cooks. The crew just donno how to cook Indian street food given they don’t have any context or adequate training2. The food is bland. Did not have seasoning. It was soggy.3. The staff is slow and little inattentive. Four of them were kinda disorganized in the kitchen without a smooth process.
It was a good Indian eating place. The thali veg and non veg was giving good taste, even kid menu and kathi rolls was good. I shall love to visit again.
Ive enjoyed curry up now at any location Ive been to. This ones great for after an early show at the New Parish, and you can get whatever fusion Indian / Mexican / American dish your heart desires. The thali platter worked for me.
Food was delicious, ordered $80 worth from thali to Various appetizzer like Samosas, vada pav, naked fries. Food was hot and fresh. Service was quick and place was clean.
7-stars for the staff and service, they’re so friendly, nice and really nice. I was really tired after a long day of moving and their smile and enthusiasm perked me up. I haven’t seen this in a while at most restaurants.A great selection of food here, lots of offerings that aren’t available at most Indian restaurants. However, everything tastes like it came out of a packaged box (like those Indian food packets that last foreveror Costco or frozen. I wish they used better ingredients and the food tasted fresher, I’d go more often. The food is very tasty, so if you don’t care that it didn’t taste fresh, then go here!7 stars for service.5 stars for menu options.4 stars for food taste2.5 stars for food quality and freshness.
Great Indian Street Food! Super quick service and decent portion! Quirky dish names is a fun twist!
Totally not badDidn’t love to part they don’t serve tap waterBut overall good stuff
Great food!!! I love the samosas and chicken tikka masala Burrito. I tried other dishes as well and they were great. When they are really busy, theres usually a long wait. Its worth the wait. Love this place.
The place is amazing for a quick bite. I visited Curry up now before covid started and the ambience was amazing. The food was good. The chai is totally worth a try.
Food is okay. My neighborhood Yemeni grocery store carries better frozen Indian food. I like that they have veg option and their cool names. Not happy with their service. They made my order wrong and called to report that. No one said sorry. They just said theyd refund me. I said fine. A week later when my refund wasnt processed, I called them back. I was asked to call back. I called back, waited 30 minutes because I needed to talk to the "general manager" but then they hung up. I called again, they laughed at me and then put me on another 15 minutes hold. Finally, when the manager arrived, he didnt say sorry for messing up my order, didnt say sorry for me having to wait that long. He seemed frustrated that I was asking for refund for my incorrect order. I couldnt wait to hear him say that my refund was finally processed and get off the phone.
Consistently delicious food with satisfying portions. A tasty take on Indian food that finds it fused with cross-cultural palettes. Dare I say a true Indian-American melting pot experience? They maintain the Indian staples while infusing Mexican and Italian staples such as the quesadilla and ravioli, amongst other twists on common fare.If you are a fan of Indian food and love some all American munchies goodness you will not be disappointed. They serve everything for vegan to a carnivores food, so it is truly a place the whole gang can find something delicious to fill up on.
The deconstructed samosa was, as my brother put it, “a shrine to samosas”. I love samosas so much I have to stop myself from eating them everyday. This was the best samosa meal I’ve ever had. I had it yesterday and I plan on going back today for more. Thank you for making this dish.P.s. I got it with the aloo gobi on top (amazingbut I’ve heard the chicken is great too.
Consistently excellent food and great service at reasonable prices. Very large portions too.We ordered an order of samosas, the two of them were huge and we had no room for the Thali dinner. That will be something to look forward to for tomorrow night.
Good food(?), clean restaurant, friendly staff. (That was my initial impression..)After getting their promotional BOGO free to celebrate their anniversary, I was quite disappointed when I actually ate them. I had gotten a chicken tikka masala burrito and the lamb burrito and sadly they were both lacking much meat. Ive gotten their burritos before to compare and also my friend who had also gotten the lamb burrito said the same thing. Very disappointing... Basically we got a rice burrito. I wanna like you and wanna be a repeat customer but you need to do better Curry Up!
We ordered the mango lassi, chicken Tikka burrito and vegan deconstructed samosa burrito. The food comes very well packed. Loved the concept of modern Indian food here. The taste was on point. The burrito was filling too. Will definitely keep coming.
Chicken Tikka in a burrito? Yes please! This was a big hit with three generations in my family. My 2 young kids and parents, my friend and I all left super satisfied with the food! The service was excellent - the staff friendly and happy to give excellent recommendations. One minor bit of constructive criticism - the music was a little loud. Otherwise it was a fantastic dinner.
My food came out fast, hot, and fabulous (looking and tasting). What else can you ask for?
Curry Up Now never fails to surprise me with their culinary skills. Be it Veg or Non-Veg, both are tasty & delicious. Pretty heavy platter for regular price and no compromise on quality. Its filling and definitely make you sleep, post lunch 😂😂😂A must try place in Oakland downtown.
This place is great! The food is super tasty and for some reason better than the other locations. Theres something special about this place. The staff here is very friendly and really helpful with questions about the menu. I recommend the meat sweats. Their chai is delicious and they pair it with Parlee G cookies yum! Online ordering is super easy too.
I love this food. If I could eat here every night, I would. Vegetarian and vegan friendly, but still has good meat dishes. The restaurant space is modern and clean, but nothing especially fancy. Its a little loud inside because its all hard surfaces, but again, with food like this, who cares?
Good food, pretty fast service, nice variety. The menu is quite large. The food is tasty and flavorful. The Punjabi by nature and samosa bowls are both good bets. Imho the food is a little too sweet and not spicy enough, but it does still have a slight kick.
I had been to the good truck in San Francisco and it was great so I took my friends the restaurant and sadly the food was not as great tasting. My friend ordered a lamb bowl and there was no lamb in the bowl. The food tasted bland too. I ordered tea and somehow it didnt arrive till after I finished eating.
Typically, whenever I visit Curry up now, I have always enjoyed eating there. However, this was my first time visiting the branch in Oakland. Firstly, they took our order but did not deliver the food to us for almost an hour. When we went to enquire about the delay, they said that the system had not processed the order (mind you that we had paid for the order already). Now after an hour, they start preparing the order and forget to get half the things we order. Next, we get tea that is cold, we ask them to heat it up and their response is that they cant. From the service to the food, everything ultimately turned out to be a massive disappointment.
Curry Up Now turned out to be a big bait and switch. When it first opened the tikka masala was made with white meat chicken breast, as its supposed to be....as it is at every other Indian restaurant....as it is traditionally. But Curry Up Now decided to be cheap and sneakily start using brown meat chicken thigh instead. I found this out by ordering from the Oakland Curry Up Now, after confirming with them that it was indeed white meat in the tikka masala. They said it was. However when it was delivered to me, it was disgusting brown meat chicken thigh. I hate brown meat chicken and this chicken thigh meat was particularly disgusting and gristly. I called them back and the guy argued with me and said tikka masala has always been made with brown meat chicken. Well thats a lie!! No, it never is! I also asked for my money back just for this one dish, but they rudely refused. I thought it had to just be this one location, because shortly prior to this I went to another location and the tikka masala was made with chicken breast. So today I went to the Alameda location. Again they told me it was definitely white meat chicken breast in the tikka masala. However, when I received the order it was once again brown meat chicken thigh (of which there were maybe five tiny little chunks of meat, which I gave to my dog). At least the Alameda location was friendly. I was late to work so had no time to go back and ask for a refund however. Generally I would say dont go here, especially the Oakland location. They charged me $16 (chutney duo addedfor this gross slop that they call a tikka masala bowl...and for that price they cant even give you what its supposed to be ...white meat chicken! I will never go back and I will write more reviews because I think this is a really nasty bait and switch tactic. To lure customers into your good graces only to pull the rug out from under them, and then not acknowledge doing so, is beneath reproach in my opinion.
Been there twice and love the bowls,if you get thali make sure to order rice else it’s plate of curry to eat with 😜
Tasty Indian food served hot. The portions and variety are very nice and the cooking style also does justice with the menu. Comes very close to authentic Indian food. Great value for money. The desserts are also worth trying especially ice cream - ghulab jamun
This is quickly becoming my regular meet-my-brother-for-lunch spot. Also our offices quick-we-need-staff-lunch spot. I loved the food truck but was rarely in the same neighborhood, so the fact that there is now a brick and mortar around the corner from work? Yes. The food is always good, its always got a good amount of kick, and there is no skimping on the curry in any dishes.
New style of Indian Cuisine! Looks great 👍
Amazing flavors..still licking my lips from the chicken tikka masala 😋
Weird naan. Weird fusion with other types of food. Not good quality for the price either. I recommend trying another place for dinner.
Ive gone twice, the last time with a group and we all loved everything. Prices are $8-11 with the $10-11 entrees quite large but are so good you cant stop eating after getting full.Gen Y name and decor; open and lots of light inside, sidewalk seating outside. UpTown district, record store on same block.
The food is so good here. Ive had their tikka pizza at another location, which is bomb, but I just love how they offer curry burrito bowls and street food. Super stellar. The music choice at this location was a little scattered, from like 80s to hipster rap to traditional Indian, it didnt really mesh, though I loved all the songs. There was also only one girl working so she has to take everyones orders plus give everyone their food and we had to ask a couple times for extra plates etc. But I would 100% go back. Because its delicious.
Ive gone to the one in the mission several times now. This one is just as good and consistent in food taste and quality. Service here is quick. The tables are not really close so you can enjoy your lunch without being part of the next tables conversation. This wouldnt be a good place to have a large group lunch because of the table size.
