Curry Park - Indian restaurant in Irakleion, Greece
Good curry restaurant with open kitchen. You can request to have your meal less/more spicy how preferred and the lady was very nice. The food was ready without long waiting and we enjoyed the outside terrasje with the view of the other restaurants at night.
After reading all the mixed reviews, I was intrigued and visited this restaurant. It is a one woman show. (at least what I sawThe lady greets, cleans and helps in the kitchen so I applaud her. The Food was delicious and so I had dinner 3 times that week. On the last day I wished her and said we were leaving, she was so touched and offered us a free drink. I enjoyed all the meals which were tasty and arrived on time.
The place is amazing 🤩 I will have dreams about this food for the next month. The butter chicken and chicken masala were unbelievable!!!! I totally recommend this place. The women that was serving us is soo kind and deserve a big thank you 🙏
Dinner was terrible. Very oily and seasoning was out of proportion on the currys. To make it worse, the portion of curry given was very less.On the other hand, we had lunch and it was excellent. Everything tasted very good. But still the portion was quite less. We got our food after waiting for an hour .We learnt that the Lunch was prepared by the owner/chef Iqbal and he leaves to manage his other hotel in the evenings. His wife takes over this restaurant in the evenings. Hence the quality difference. This place is also understaffed. There is a helper who doesn’t understand English. The toilet flush is also broken and when we informed the owner, he didn’t care much about it.
This was the worst indian food I have ever eaten, bad quality, small quantity and no rice served with the main dishes.😕
Very good tasteful food and not too hot for those who don’t like hot spicy food ! Very nice owner too, great to support locals who do their best to serve us customers as good as they can . Highly Recommended !
Incredible fresh made food, and great service.
The lady was very rude. Very bad service.
After travelling the whole day from Naxos and delayed ferry, we were excited to finally have some Indian food as we are Indians ourselves and missing home so much. The service was poor, food came 40 mins late after ordering, by this time my kids were tired and hungry. When the food came the naan we ordered was rock hard solid and not edible. When I complained about this to the owner who is Bengali and of Asian origin, she did nothing to compensate for the poor food and still had the audacity to charge us for the naans. Not only that when I explained to her about the naan being rock solid, she suggested to pay the bill in full as we apparently ate half the food, it wasnt even all that. She even stated that this is the type of naan they would eat, when I questioned it, which is a blatant lie. The paneer curry was not cooked and only contained a few pieces, rest of it was watery gravy. I dont understand how this place has got 4.3 stars for Google reviews. This is my first time in Crete and so far got off to a bad start. This place is far from authentic Indian dining experience, its an insult to our culture.
Much better than it used to be, a little bit more expensive than before. They stopped the free ice cream with the bill (you are in Crete, it is a tradition)
We were 7 of us and wanted to have Indian food in Crete. Initially we thought it would be difficult for us to get Indian food and especially vegetarian food. But we were extremely happy with the quality and service provided. For vegetarians, you should definitely try the Bombay Aloo, Special Fried rice (ask for veg option though not in menu). Would definitely recommend eating out here if anyone craves for Indian cuisine.
I did not like the food, it didnt taste Indian at all, the vegetable biryani was a wierd concoction, and the lamb tasted odd. No wonder, its prepared by Bangladeshi people, whom I suspect arent real chefs! Even the Raita tasted like it was from anywhere except India! Expensive and plain bad! Id waited so long for Indian food, huge disappointment! Wish Id had Thai food instead!
I wish I could give it a negative rating. No one in the restaurant in the afternoon should have been a sign.1. Terrible hostess with a bad attitude. Almost knocked off a glass of water as she pushed the place mat in a hurry even as my kid was trying to get a bottle of water out of the way.2. Terrible food which took a long find to come. The sag paneer and the curry both were the worst I have ever eaten.3. The host/owner wanted to get paid in cash and so pretended his credit card machine was not working.4. He started asking us inappropriate questions about where we were staying, how much were we paying per night, where were we staying etc.Just a terrible vibe and an atrocious experience all around. Not a single redeeming quality.Stay away from this place like CoViD.
If I can put a zero, I will do! I never saw an unsympathetic service like this restaurant! We choose menu and then we have another meal on table... why ? Maybe to pay more expensive...We ask something, we wait for a very very longtime to have it ! Maybe the service is different with categories of people... I dont know... bad experience !
This shouldnt even be called an indian Restaurant. We had Dal Tarka and got a thin extremely salty soup like dish.It was also ready very fast which means for me that it was just heated up. See the picture attached. This is supposed to be a Dal Tardka ladies and Gentlemen!!!!And that at too at 12 euros (daal+rice).Avoid this Restaurant in any case even if you extremeley crave indian food. The disappointment at the end is really not worth it!!!
We were missing Indian food and thought we’d indulge ourselves. Little did we know it was a disaster. The lady was rude, didn’t great us, had headphones in and depressing as hell. The food was very average. Not fresh and limited in vegetarian variety. As people of subcontinental origin the creature comforts of home food allured us to this restaurant. But what in our minds promised to be fulfilling, turned out to be the singular worst culinary experience of our lives. The waiter / lady owner displayed the social skills of wilting daffodil. She had unplugged headphones in at all times and told us we’re we’re wrong in our order. The lack of other members of the humans in the restaurant should of given us clues that this maybe the beginnings of a zombie apocalypse. We felt as if we were held hostage here due to desperation and as if we were in a low budget horror film.If you want to experience how not to eat Indian food go here.We would’ve been kinder in our review if the service was existent!
Ordered Butter Chicken, Naan, Curries, Rice etcLess than average food, came within 7 to 10 min of ordering which means nothing is freshly cooked, daal was too salty. Cook or waiter could barely speak English.
None of the food tasted well. We had ordered vegetarian sambar and rice. It was the worst.
We came at lunchtime and were the only customers, and still the staff was very kind friendly and quick. All the dishes were spot on excellent, I enjoyed every bite. Im a big fan of Indian food and enjoyed it very much. I recommend!
The food is indescribably good. Every dish is an artful work of love. In all my travels I’ve never had such perfectly balanced Indian cuisine. The interior design is tasteful, as is the small plaza outside the restaurant. I look forward to the next time I can visit.
Amazing food! Hubby wanted an indian meal and this was perfect. Food was fresh & tasty.
Am an Indian food fun 😋 I spotted this place on my way to the hotel.Roti and chicken saag my favourite 😍
Family run Indian restaurant with friendly and polite service. Tastefully cooked food at quite reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
Amazing curries, prepared on the spot! Highly recommended, as one of the best places to eat in the city and one of the best Indian curries I ever tried! I recommend to choose a little bit spicy option, we chose 2/5 and it was ideal. Very aromatic spices, a treat for your taste buds, fresh ingredients, even the potatoes were tasty. Good friendly service too!
Delicious food! Incredibly rich menu and very friendly owner! I highly recommend this restaurant and definetely will come back here!Thank you!
Good Indian restaurant in Heraklion. If youre craving for Indian food then Id recommend this restaurant. Located in a vibrant area.
Amazing food! Nice little restaurant, they also insist on everyone having proof of having a covid vaxine pass, before being seated.Food came promptly, very tasty and they increased the amount of chilli we wanted perfectly.DEFINITELY worth booking.
This place is delicious! Family run restaurant with a large menu. Of course, vegetarian and vegan friendly with veggie options of Indian dishes that can be hard to find. Mango pickle! The owner is very kind, everything is homemade and delicious. Highly recommend.
I’ve given 2 stars but to be fair, I actually mean 2.5 - still not a great rating. For starters, the waitress was not trained in customer service etiquette. We visited on a Thursday early evening after 5:30pm. From the second we entered until we left she was busy on a phone call (via earphonesand each time we needed something we had to gesture as she was sitting way out of view. Unlike every other Indian restaurant I’ve been to across the world, the attitude here wasn’t very welcoming. She was not rude but still not exactly customer friendly.Apart from the waitress, the fork given to us wasn’t very clean. We asked for a change in fork but it was merely rinsed in water then returned to us. Also, we ordered a Fanta Lemonade but were given a knockoff lemonade drink (not Fanta!- sure not a great difference but they should be clear and not advertise it as Fanta! With regards to the food, the food tasted okay but nothing super special. Unlike other Indian restaurants I’ve been to in Greece, US and UK, they did not have the standard sauces alongside the food. The total cost came to €36 for two people. I’ve paid similar amounts in Indian restaurants in Athens and on the other side of Crete but the food and service was *much* better in those places.Overall a 2.5 rating, but I wouldn’t return!
The worst Indian food i had yet, No salt No Curry No taste at All and naan was like a hard Stone Old bread i threw everything i bought from there in the bin....would not reccomend to anyone....
we ordered delivery took alot of time to comethe food was cold the beef curry had so small portion plus the beef was so cheap quality for the high price we paid i would not recommend this place they say its the best indian food in town the only problem its the only indian place in town how is it the best?
Delicious curry. But I was very disappointed by the portion sizes of the curry and naan, especially as the meal was not cheap. I dont see how its worth paying 9.50 EUR and still being hungrier than after eating a 3 EUR gyros. I emphasise that the actual quality of the food was high.
The food is delicious (the onion bajees were incredible), all made on order, they were also very accommodating to my lactose intolerance, overall I loved it and would definitely go again!
The food is really great.. Enjoyed the lamb chops and tarka daal a lot..The chef personally takes care of his customers and the food..
I want to give this place a big zero. Waitress was extremely unfriendly. She was so unwelcoming. The owner should immediately sack her. Awful food....... Would never ever go there again. How are they running this place?
By farThe worst service.Food was subpar. As a man of Indian Decent, I’m offended at what they had to offer. I wasted an hour of my life and space in my stomach for what they had to offer. NEVER again.
Average food kind people so so, price reasonable
The freshest most beautiful Indian food. We ordered sag aloo and Daal and both with naan were delicious. Run by the cutest couple Iqbal and the chef hes wife, we loved it. The place looks newly referrbished and a nice little place off the beaten track.
Horrible customer Service!!We visited the curry park due to the good online recommendations, however what we experienced was really bad. We received a different menue -which was just one page- than the local customers (which is also offered online). After we have asked for the extensive menue, it was denied, because it would be just offered for local customers. Also the prices where higher on the smaller "Tourist" menue (for naan +0.50€ or Chicken curry +2€). I asked for a curry with spinach, which was possible, however not served with Chicken as offered online or on the local customer menue.Food wasnt really hot, so I guess it was already cooked. Afterwards we asked for the bill. We payed and they just retained money as a tip, without asking us (no service fee was stated). We were really shocked about this customer service. I have never experienced s.th. similar and I totally cannot recommend the Curry Park Indian Restaurant!!!!
Value for money! I ve never eaten indian food before, so, i am excited! I liked the taste of their recipes and the wine also. A nice family business, something different in our town!
One of the best Indian restaurtants I have tried so far. Food was fresh and very tasty. The family that owns the restaurant very nice and friendly. We are definitely coming back!!!
The service was great, but the food not so much. I wanted a dish similar to butter chicken and was recommended masala chicken. It was sweet like spaghetti sauce, which threw off the dish for me. I also ordered chicken curry which was very peppery (like to much black pepper). I could hardly enjoy the dish. The Nan, mango Lassi, and rice was good. I wouldnt return again. Good hostess though.
Great Indian food. The spice and favours were authentic and the service exceptional. Kabir was very gracious.
Authentic food, special tasts, nice and welcomming service. Will surely com here again :)
Weve had one of the best Indian meals at Curry Park! The chef who is the owner really cares about his customers. He took time to understand our preferences and tailor made our meals to our taste. He understands people have different expectation based on their past experience and he did his best to create dishes that exceeded our expectations. He informed us that every dish was freshly prepared. So if you want a quick meal, do check with him if this is possible. We enjoyed taking our time between the courses. The restaurant is so cute we could have sat there longer!
The best Indian food ever experienced in my life. And I have eaten in many Indian restaurants. Here the quality is excellent, the spices are fresh and homemade, not ready-made. The cooking of food is perfect and the service fast and friendly. The owner, Ikbal, is a very special person, as if they are few now. Ill come back here often!
Very friendly good food loved it.Thanks for having Indian food in foreign country.
I ve been here for several times. I enjoy the food and the service by the friendly owner. Although I have some experience with Indian food so I have high expectations this place gives me a great feeling every time I visit. So a 4 star from me.
Our favorite restaurant for Indian food in Heraklion! Its very close to the Main Street where you can park your car! The main city is just a short walk! The owner and the staff are super nice and we loved having a small talk with him. The portion are in the perfect size for the price!
Great restaurant! The owner is kind and nice to talk to. The food was great! Bringing back memories from India... Dont let the distance from the center to fool you, its very close and worth the short walk
