Long-standing family-owned restaurant serves up homey Italian meals in an old-fashioned dining room.
Such an incredibly disappointing experience. Got there within 15 minutes of the doors opening and had to wait an hour to be seated. Waitress was fine. Food not so much. Minestrone..no idea what they gave me but wasnt minestrone. Beef bouillon with broccoli and cauliflower. Small salad..really small for $8. Pasta with shellfish had shells in it. Go anywhere else. Just wanted some good food.
The carbonara was one of the best pastas that I’ve had! Many restaurants on The Hill don’t do carry out on Saturday nights, but this places does and I love that!
My family and I really enjoyed our dinner. I recommend the pasta con broccoli Delicious
Food was insanely good. Some of the best Italian food Ive ever had! Please go if you can! Even if the wait is long!
Delicious food and the portions are huge. There is usually a wait since they do not take reservations but they have a large, seated waiting area at the bar so the wait is comfortable.I had the Filetto di Sogliola alla Romano — very good, recommend!— and my grandma had the Tortellini Bianco which was also really tasty.
So, I would normally leave Cunettos a 5 star rating, because Ive been eating there for almost 20 years and the pasta is always great. But, I got takeout from them last night and the cannoli was terrible. I think the filling was made with cheese that had gone bad. I had to brush my teeth after taking a bite because the taste was so awful. If you go there, maybe skip the cannoli.
Always great food. Ive been going for years and the quality of the food is always consistently great. Definitely worth the wait!
Amazing food and service, short wait time, very nice and comforting setting. Definitely a place you should dress up some before you visit, although it is not required. Dining room is not too large, so make arrangements before hand.
Excellent food, service and prices! Nice environment with fresh bread and butter at the table. My personal favorite was the Tutto yin seafood broth but everyones meal was delicious!
Hour and half wait. We have been here a few times in the past 20 years and this time it didnt quite live up to our past experiences. Food was good not great. Lack of help is an issue like every where.
Always pleasurable to the tastebuds! The waiter was fantastic, food deviously prepared, tortellini bianco and pasta Alfredo highly recommended! Everyone was friendly, we soccer at 4:30 on Sunday and was seated immediately. Opens at 4 on Sunday. By 5 they had a full house. No tables left. Price is average$$. Food excellent! Well worthy of the drive to get there!
Fettuccine Cunetto Delicious! Also I want to thank Frank Cunetto for accommodating our family and making the evening special for us to Celebrate at one big table in the dining room.
Excellent food. It was odd that the bus boy took the leftovers from the table next to us and took them away to package up nicely, but then just tossed a few boxes and bags on our table.
Based on a recommendation from a close friend of mine we had dinner at Cunettos with our son an another family friend. When we arrived the place was packed so we had a bit of a wait to be seated. But, there were tables available at the Bar so we had a beer and some good conversation. Soon enough our table was ready and we were hungry. We ordered and when our dishes arrived we werent disappointed. Fantastic food, great service, and very reasonable prices. Thank you, Cunetto House of Pasta for a great evening out!
Everything from the Manager to our new waitress, EXCELLENT!! The pandemic has attempted to strangle every business in America, I am so glad The Hill has fought hard to stay open & still delicious. If you have not been lately to this St. Louis gem, you are MISSING OUT!! Thank You Cunettos for a fabulous night out & dinner that was DELISH!!
Our first time dining on The Hill, and Cunettos was recommended by a friend. Had apps while waiting for a table, which made the predicted 75 min wait bearable. All the food we had was amazing. The cream sauce on the fettuccine alla Cunetto I ordered was the best cream sauce Ive ever had. Still, I wish the portion size hadnt been so large. As tourists, we had nowhere to store or reheat the 3 lbs of pasta left over, which felt like a waste.
The bartender (Kevin??was great! Very nice. We chose to just have a drink & appetizers at the bar due to time available before a planned event down the street. We got the calamari in red sauce (which we determined would make awesome bloody marys). It had a little kick but very good. We also got shrimp in red sauce (also veru goodtoo and toasted raviolis (good but nothing you cant get at any other place).Note : The bar if is only appetizers, no salads, nothing else other than drinks.
Love their pasta, the linguine with clams in the clam broth sauce was seasoned perfectly. Never had a bad meal there.
The food was fine and the wait-staff good but the hostesses and maitre ‘d were rude and incompetent. After being told the wait was an hour we waited 2.5 hours for a table. There are many other fine restaurant choices in The Hill neighborhood in St. Louis. I suggest going to any of them over Cunetto’s.
I love this place. Ive been several times, but its been a few years. I was nervous that if be disappointed, and it was quite the opposite. It was actually better than I remembered!Service was great, the food was awesome, the atmosphere is great, and the portions will not disappoint. The price was perfect.
My favorite Italian on the hill!!! Its not just the food its the ambiance and the people who own it and work there that make it such a great experience every single time for us!Never had a bad meal or anything less that spectacular there in over 12 years! You have to have the salad! Spagetti Primavera is a family favorite! And if you go on a Sunday get the lasangana! Amazing scampi and steaks too.. I mean you cant really go wrong! 🙌
Great service and great food. What more can you ask for.
Vitello con Granchio came almost cold. Waitress was friendly but never once offered to refill waters or drinks. They were clearly in a hurry to get us out. Two people on our table were rushed to finish their meal and we were rudely told to leave the table because there were people waiting.Poor quality food. Tomato sauce clearly out of can. Too pricey for food quality, service and ambiance. Will never come back.
I really liked this place. The prices weren’t overly expensive and it doesn’t look like it but the pasta is really filling and there’s a lot of it. The place feels fancy but not super fancy, it’s like casual-fancy. The server was really kind as well. The pasta itself was delicious and we really enjoyed it. The sauce was delicious and I enjoyed the fresh tomatoes. good experience.
Come early ... to get parking and a table ... but trust me, you wont regret choosing Cunettos House of Pasta!!! They have so many wonderful dishes! Start with an appetizer of Toasted Ravioli and make the Fettuccini alla Cunetto your main course. It is, frankly, the best damn Fettucini dish Ive EVER enjoyed ... and I think youll agree. Ive never had room for dessert but I bet those are just as good! Service is impeccable and the decor reminds me of some of the Italian places I used to eat at, as a kid, in Jersey, Philly and NYC.
Cunetto’s was incredible! Easily some of the best Italian food we’ve ever eaten. Everything was made to perfection, and the sauce and spice combinations were so rich. The Toasted Raviolis were amazing as were the Tortellini alla Bolognese, Bucatini alla Bolognese, and Spaghetti and Meatballs. Everything was an incredible hit including the atmosphere and our server.10/10 one of the culinary icons of STL in every way!
If it wasn’t against table etiquette, I would have drank the marinara sauce directly from the bowl! We had a lovely dinner at Cunetto’s. There was a wait but it was worth it and the bar area was spacious with well poured drinks to make any wait fly by! Eggplant frites, cheesy garlic bread and the best pasta- everything was delicious. Generous portion sizes and friendly staff! We’ll definitely visit again.
Tasty dishes and friendly staff. Will be back here!
Came in from out of town, this was by far one of the best dining experiences Ive ever had. It came down to being as simple as this, quality original Italian food which is hard to come by. With a plethora of vegetarian options, as well as what seemed to be slightly a understaffed restaurant, the staff who were there were the most helpful and quick to get to making the dining experience amazing. From the girl with curly hair who was our server and the blonde headed kid who helped with cleaning up, I could tell this was a restaurant that truly cared about its staff and customers. Will 100/10 always recommend if you want some of the best Italian food youll ever have in your life, with a unique flavor and style of food that still feels classic.
The best restaurant I have ever eaten at, ever! I have dreams about the sauce. No matter what you have to stop in and try this place if you are in the area.
We had a last-minute group going to dinner. Our party kept growing in numbers. We called Cunneto’s and they were so accommodating. We had a delicious dinner! Everyone enjoyed their meals. The service was excellent. Thanks again for taking care of us!
I love this place, except for the wait. We have been here several times, and I have ordered a lot of different dishes. The quality of food is spot on with a good price point. The service is has always been pleasant as well. I had an issue one time with the veal being over cooked and tough. It was taken care of promptly and was correct the next time.
This was my first time, and the service was great and the food was delicious..The atmosphere was cozy and had the Italian family feeling. I like when places dont change everything to make it modern. The food you know is great when lines are starting before the doors open and were still there when we left.I will definitely go again.
Food was delicious! Friendly staff! Great atmosphere! We will be back! Chicken Parm was yummy and so was our calamari for appetizer
Incredible menu with many choices - hard to decide what to order! This restaurant does not take reservations so either come on a week night, or be prepared to wait. They have a decent wine selection and their bartenders mix a great Old Fashioned. The calamari was a great appetizer.
Food was ready to go when they said it would be. It was still very hot when I got it back home 10 minutes later. So delicious! Wished I dined in, this is a place to get dolled up for a nice dinner out, nothing to fancy is needed, great for a little romance. Very welcoming and cozy.
This may of honestly been the best speghetti and meatballs Ive ever eaten. Tons of sauce, pasta cooked authentically, and wowsers these enormous meatballs! Lol tons of flavor in the sauce as well
Awsome food ..Soup was amazing..Service on point. The chicken stuffed with cheese and panchetta in a mushroom sauce was amazing.Overall A+ check this place out on the Hill as well as the market across street amazing Italian poy boy..
When I worked on the hill I always thought of this place as a nicer option to eat at and never tried it. Today, they took a pasta rolling machine to all my preconceived notions and squashed them like a flat noodle. A flat cold noodle at that…. daily special of Lasagna was cold on a piping hot plate with stale bread 😞… we brought the cold lasagna to their attention.. The waitress took it to the kitchen and spoke with manager and brought back the same plate with all the cheese burnt to the plate and said it’s gotta be hot now!! Mmmmm no thanks! The Tutto Marre left much to be desired. It wasn’t fresh. We did enjoy the toasted ravioli for the appetizer. I may even say those were the best I’ve had. Oh well, it’s sad to see how service is just going downhill everywhere. We should’ve known by all signs everywhere & the typos 🤦🏻♀️
Prices were good, portions are great, the house salad is an obvious local favorite and I see why. (has meat unless you ask for nonethe cheesy garlic bread is like a big Texas toast and worth every bite. The cannelloni was kind of soggy or doughy more like a chicken and dumplings situation but my friends pasta was amazing. We both did need to add ALL the pepper to both. Unfortunately the fresh cracked came out after our meals. The waiter seemed really busy as the place seems very popular. We were too stuffed to get dessert.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere as always. It was a Tuesday so of course I had lasagna. Every time I have this dish I completely understand why this lasagna is considered the best in the St. Louis area.
Wife and I went to Cunetto’s for our date and had a wonderful time. Both of us were fully satisfied with our entrees and the service. Vicky was wonderful and helpful as were the staff that came around to refill water and take plates. The atmosphere was casual as well which was nice. Dessert was Cannoli and Spumoni which were both great and the price for what you get is amazing. Large servings of delicious food. Definitely recommend.
As soon as you walk in, you will know you made a great choice to come to Cunetto House of Pasta. We were greeted with the friendliest staff. The place also smells fantastic, with the smell of pasta in the air. There is also a small parking lot you can park in instead of parking on the street. The menu is a bit pricey, but the food and portions are well beyond worth it. There is no kids menu, but the adult portions are so big we just shared with the kids. The spaghetti dish I got was some of the best spaghetti I have had. It also had two meatballs slightly smaller than a tennis ball. The other dishes my group got were all amazing as well. If you are in The Hill area, I recommend stopping by.
Wonderful food! Generous portions, excellent pasta, salad & apps! Great service and atmosphere! I highly recommend Cunetto’s! I had the chicken parmigiana 🥰.
Veal saltimbocca was on the verge of being overcooked. It was drowning in a very heavy cream sauce with cheese. Thats not what I expect from veal saltimbocca. That was very disappointing. My fried eggplant appetizer was pretty good and very large. The side dish that came with it was huge and probably bigger than my entree! it was a pasta in a garlic cream sauce and that tasted pretty good and the pasta was perfectly cooked. I guess when you go to a house a pasta thats what you should stick with. my mother had a fillet of sole dish that was supposed to have been broiled but when she got it was fried so she had to send it back. it came with asparagus which was way overcooked and she only had a bite and sent that back. When she got her fish it was broiled but she said it was so overwhelmed with lemon that she really couldnt taste the fish. Again I guess we should stick with pasta. The cannoli dessert was good - the shell was nice and crisp.
Most amazing service I have had in years. Kacey was the best waitress I have had in a very long time. They had a no cholesterol option in pasta that was amazing the soup was awesome.
Outstanding local Italian spot. Be ready for huge portions. I had a Tutto Mare which is one of their specialties. Loads of seafood on a bed of perfectly cooked noodles. This all rested in a bowl of divine broth. I’m not much of a bread eater but that broth was killer good paired with their bread.
Stopped here for lunch and it was a wonderful experience. The food was amazing! Large tasty portions. Service was excellent. We will definitely return next time we are in St Louis!
I just loved the food here. The place is in an italian neighborhood call The HillIt has a very laid back vibeYou feel like dining in a very old Italian restaurantBest part is they have veggie optionsThe pasta i ordered was amazing simply wowSpaghetti PrimaveraDo try this oneIts a must visit place as per meAuthentic Italian Food
Cunettos definitely meets the high standard for Italian food found on The Hill. The ambiance is very elegant and the menu is filled with original pasta and meat entrees. The sauces here are what really make good dishes into excellent ones; they have exceptional flavor balance, with incredible textures of all sorts. Portions are huge, prices are beyond reasonable, and service is excellent/quick. This is an all-around great spot!
