208 SW 6th St, Grants Pass, OR 97526, United States, Grants Pass
Cuban fare with vegan options, traditional cocktails & wines in colorful quarters or outdoors.
Food lacks flavor, on top of waiting nearly 2 hours to receive it, I also ordered a drink WITH the food and got it 20 minutes after I finished eating. Mind you we were being VERY patient and understanding that they were understaffed, but that is no excuse to be rude, which is why I’m writing this.
What a find! Excellent downtown location, very filling (despite small servings), and the best plantain chips we’ve ever had. Very light & crisp. My husband doesn’t like Cuban food, but he really likes it here! The desserts & drinks sound amazing. 🥰 We just left & can’t wait to go back. LOL
This place caught my attention while driving past on 6th the other day, and decided to give them a try. Called for a takeout order, pleasant person on the phone took my order, was apologetic in informing me my particular order may take a little bit as the cubanos take some time to prepare and might take upwards of 20 minutes. A nominal wait mid day, so I ordered a GP Cubano, and the tostonas & bread with sauce samplers. OMG! Soooo good. I have not had an authentic Cubano, or plantains for some time and this food was absolutely authentic. The sandwich was great, and the sauce sampler was also great. So much flavor, and instantly impressed with the ingredients all seemingly fresh and quality. The olive oil had taste! Refreshing to see such a unique option here in town, I will definitely be back. Highly reccomend.
This is without doubt the best Cuban restaurant in the states. (And I’ve been to some places in the Florida keys as well as NYC). The owner is super friendly and we really enjoyed interacting with her. She mentioned in passing that she makes some of the best Mojitos in the world…. And believe me. They are AMAZING! The food is equally good. If you’re passing through Grants Pass or living nearby, DO NOT MISS this place. We wish she would set up shop in the Bay Area. She would have our family as loyal customers for sure.
Affordable and deliciously authentic, the classic mojito is the best I have had, and the protein bowl is incredible. Cheesecake is always the dessert I look forward to, but the rum cake is a solid second contender. The food takes time to prepare and make; best to reserve extra time, but worth the wait for foodie people. Angela is an incredibly kind and caring human trying her best to bring authentic Cuban food to our tiny town; please give her grace as she prepares every meal with love for the food. If you dont have time to chill and have a meal go to fast food or somewhere less authentic. This is homemade to order, not pre-prepped, and it is a phenomenal flavor.
The cubanos are so good I had to use our business page to give them a second 5 star review!Angela and her team take their time with every single order, and it’s always worth the wait! I’ve traveled all over Miami and couldn’t find a single one that held a candle to It!Sincerely,Jason
This was our first trip to Grants Pass and we hit the jackpot by choosing this local Cuban spot for our first meal out. Our server was amazing, the owner made our mojito - refreshing and delicious! I had a vegetarian bowl with rice, beans, avocado and so much flavor. We felt so at home and welcomed.
Can’t believe I didn’t know this place existen! Miss my Cuban families cooking dearly, also lived in Portland & greatly miss the vast cuisines to choose from, my favorite being latin. Happy to know grants pass doesn’t completely disappoint in the restaurant department. Bf & I ordered the sauce sampler, mango limeade, carne asado & puerco asado bowls. Joyfully ate every last bit. Can really taste the natural freshness of the ingredients, flavors do not miss a beat! Will be trying out the rest of the menu in due time & taking all my friends & family when they’re visiting here.
Best food in GP. The ladies are cooking up flavorful food and giving me a reason to stop for a meal in this town!
A+ Service!!! Very knowledgeable, friendly and inviting!!! Food is super authentic, full of flavor!!I will be back!!!
Best Cubano sandwich that Ive ever had. But the real stars of the show is their servers. We caught them just as they had a power failure and we were patient and so were they and in spite of the delay everyone had a great time. I would definitely go back.
Buddies and I were playing poker and decided to try the Cubano sandwiches. Loved the authenticity of the restaurant and spices used with all the food. The Cuban coffee was the best coffee I’ve had since France.Service was great and I literally felt like I was in Cuba!!UPDATE!!!Ok. So stopped by last night to get a piece of homemade rum cake and the owner Angie was butchering a large chuck of beef and pork. She said it was for the Carne Asada. So I had to come back the next day to try the fresh Carne Asada Bowl. OMG!! My palate immediately thanked me for getting the Carne Asada and side of avocado. There was sooo much flavor and the Carne was to die for!!! The plantain chips were a nice contrast with the dish. Avocado made it! Will be back again!!3rd update!!Get the Cuban on the beach!!! Sooo much deliciousness in one drink!!Lots of lime, rum and other magic!!Amazing drink. Only took one drink and I’m feeling really niceeee!!! Lol
Sooooo good!!! Your tongue 👅 will beat the roof of your mouth out trying to get a bite!!! Def 5 stars real nice folks too!! Highly recommend.
Great food and drinks. The staff is very friendly. It just takes a while to get what you order.
Excellent! Friend and I stopped for lunch while passing through the town. Food was delicious and our server was knowledgeable and incredibly friendly and attentive.
The service was great, and the food was even better. My wife and I really loved everything about this place.
This place is a gem of Grants Pass. Heart and soul go into every dish. It is a two person show, so wait times can be lengthy, but I have not once been disappointed- Will come back again and again.
Food was good, but it took us 3 1/2 hours from when we walked in to when we walked out. The quava cheesecake was awesome. So if you have 3 plus hours to kill and want to try different foods. Try it.
Wanted an authentic Cuban sandwich for my birthday and Cultured Palate did not disappoint! The ladies here are truly AMAZING! The food is equally as AMAZING! They obviously care so much as the hospitality they show is beyond top notch. They even sang Happy Birthday to me in a beautifully Cuban way. I even scored a bday surprise!! Mine and my familys experience was beyond incredible and we will definitely be returning again and again and again. THANK YOU FOR THE BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE!!!UPDATE: went back for another delicious meal today (3/05/22and Megan and Angie were, again, INCREDIBLE! BEST RESTAURANT IN GRANTS PASS!!!
The beef, chicken and pork are amazing! Delicious! The tostones, chimichurri, and the bread were all on point! The owner, Angela, and Megan were both so sweet and definitely service beyond expectations. Thank you! Definitely a must go to while in Grants Pass!
Heartwarming , this restaurant has the most love and care put into its food and customer care that they make you feel truly appreciated. The flavors themselves scream authentic Cuban culture and the flavors linger. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to get a breathtakingly elaborate and full flavored meal in the grants pass area.
We met Angela and Megan of The Cultured Palate for the first time today. I have to say that this is the best kept secret of Grants Pass. The food was so outstanding, with deep flavors and surprising veriety on the same plate. Apparently, all the Cuban food I have had to date has sucked! YOU MUST EAT THIS FOOD! Simple as that. The ladies themselves are truly amazing and are the hardest working people I have seen in a long time. We have been CUBANIZED.
We recently had dinner at the Cultured Palate in GP. It was a very delightful experience. They were low staffed, but still very courteous and attentive. They provided samples of the different meat options to better help us choose, which I really appreciated. When I asked about wine options, the chef provided a sample, as well as some plantain chips to cleanse the palate, and explained how the wine helps to better appreciate the flavors of the food. They made a specific effort to learn our names and remember us for next time. They even turned down the lights so our little girls could see how pretty their decorations are in the dimmer light. All of this is complementary to the food, which was quite good. You can tell the chef takes much care and pride in each dish. The cheesecake we had for dessert was especially yummy, and she said it was only the 4th one shed made! Its the most interactive experience Ive had at a restaurant, and you can really tell they care. I would recommend. Thank you!
Im absolutely in love with this place. Fantastic food that is extremely flavorful and the staff couldnt be friendlier. Get the Masterpiece its not on their menu but it is wonderful. If I didnt live in Portland this would be a regular go to spot for me.
The staff was amazing Megan and Angela absolute killed it. One of our best experiences in grants pass. The food was as authentic as it comes. Felt like a small bodega in Cuba
COVID has hurt many businesses, cooks and staff are in short supply everywhere. When we arrived at a little before 5 we were told “There’s only two of us”. We said “Okay, we can wait”.Didn’t realize it would be over two hours to get our meal.We thought about leaving, but we wanted to support a local business. One of the other guests who had waited even longer than us, went and helped out in the kitchen. While I understand times are challenging, your guests will understand if you communicate fully to then. The food isn’t just a minute away, it’s 1.5 hours away. perhaps order dessert, and find another place to eat.
I live in California. This is my favorite place in Grants Pass. Angie is the perfect host, cordially welcoming everyone to her home away from home. She prepares every plate herself with loving care, and its always great. MegAnn is always cheerful, helpful, attentive, interested in guests, and making them happy. As noted elsewhere, its usually just the two of them making this place work right now, and these days its tough to predict when the place will be empty or full. Please give them time to do what they do and you will not be disappointed. Have some cuban coffee (cafecitowhile you wait, or one of the Many wines in their collection, and perhaps an appetiser like maduros. But be there for the food, the atmosphere, and conversation with a companion, and not if you are in a hurry.
Our first time trying Cuban food and it was delicious. We didnt think avocados could be improved upon but wow just wow. Also our waitress Megan was a breath of fresh air. Polite, bubbly, and informative I havent had a server this good since before the pandemic. Bravo job well done. We will be back.
Fantastic food! Our server was energetic and funny, she brought us a sample of the different meats, all of which were delicious. We had the toastones and sauce plate to start, the Cubano sandwich is my favorite. Dont miss the lavender mojito. Cant wait to go back here.
I’ve lived in New York City, San Diego and the Bay Area and when I say this place has some of the best Cuban food I’ve ever have… I am not exaggerating. Angela (the ownerputs care and craft into every single drink and food item that leaves the kitchen. The service is warm and personalized - Megan was our waitress and she made our night out relaxing and enjoyable. Sit back, relax, and be patient for some of the best food you’ll ever get in the area. The experience is more than worth it. The Cubans sandwich was out of this world. OFF THE MENU TIP: the yucca fries (with special homemade chimichirri sauceare to DIE for. Thank you Angela and Megan for a memorable night out. What you two manage to provide during such crazy times is beyond words. 🥰 we will be back!!!!!
You will never want to eat anything else. The flavors are undeniable the best I have ever had. Great people super friendly. A must go if you havent already. Maybe some some one would like to have dinner there ????
Im always on the lookout for a great cuban sandwich - cultured palate did not disappoint, however, there is still room for improvement. Plantain chips were good, slaw was unique.
Great food and friendly outgoing staff/owner. The food had very good flavor. The mojito and piña colada were excellent as well. Will be back to try out more of the menu.
I really wish I could have given this spot a higher rating, but our experience was less than perfect. We had really high hopes for this spot but unfortunately it fell short with the service and timing of our food.It is in a great location and Grants Pass and is surrounded by lots of good foot traffic. They have great outdoor seating and the was very welcoming and inviting.Upon our arrival it wasnt very crowded at all. It started to get busier as the night went on. Unfortunately, we were some of the 1st ones to be sat down for our dinner, yet some of the last to receive our food.I would have understood if we had a complex order or a big party, But we were only 2 people and we ordered 2 sangrias 2 Cuban sandwiches and an appetiser. Pretty simple. Our waitress told us that our appetiser would take longer 15 to 20 minutes. Totally understandable. 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes past and we still had nothing. We noticed that tables around us who had arrived after us were starting to get their food. Our waitress came up to us and asked us again what our order was because she had forgot to enter our appetizer. We ended up just getting our Cuban sandwiches which were good but decided not to get our appetiser because it would have taken more time. While the waitress was apologetic about the situation, it still was frustrating. They did their best to remedy the situation by giving us a free dessert, but would have expected a little bit more. They certainly seem to be short staffed and need a little bit more training.Food was good, but service can be better.
We had a wonderful dining experience here. The service was a bit slow, but great for going to enjoy a drink or two and good company. The tapas and menu are not extensive, but everything was fantastic. They have a vegetarian bowl with added Cuban ensalada veggies available that was dynamite. The red sangria was good, the pina colada was on perfectly balanced. Rum cake for dessert could have been more moist, but still good.
This is an awesome place to enjoy good friends, conversations and great food. Weve been coming here for the last couple of years and were so pleased to be able to return. We were greeted with smiles and great food. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. As always
We wanted to love this place so much, but our experience just fell flat. After being seated, it took about 30 minutes for us to receive our first drink, an iced tea for me and a mojito for my husband. It took an hour for us to get our appetizer, an order of soft plantains. My husband ordered a second beverage at that time, and hinted at having a 3rd with dinner (mind you, we were coming up on an hour and a half into our wait time and the server said he would have to check on the OLCC rules on how many drinks someone can have. HUH? After waiting over 90 minutes for our food, (I ordered beans and rice- a vegetarian bowl, and my husband ordered a simple meat, beans, and rice dishI had to ask them to prepare it to-go. I had 1 iced tea. My husband had 2 mojitos. And we shared some plantains. Not worth our time, our money, or our date night.
As a cuban from Miami I approve x100000. My boyfriend got the cuban sandwich and I got the completo, all the meats (chicken, pork, and beefwere super tender and very well seasoned. We can’t wait to go back. Wish they were open all week! Some of the best food we’ve had in Grants Pass.
Best cuban food ever. We’ve had cuban in NYC & South Beach Miami. Her dishes are so authentic & the classic mojito is amazing, not overly sweet! You must try this place.
Let me start by saying, I was born and raised in south Florida. Ive enjoyed Cuban cuisine from Key West to Eyebore city and now...Grants Pass Oregon!?!?!Yes, Cultured Palate knocks it out of the park for authentic Cuban cuisine! My wife had the classic Cuban sammich and I enjoyed the complete Cuban featuring all three meats, beef chicken and pork. We savored every single bite. After cleaning my plate I took a taste of the coleslaw and the flavor blew my mind! Wish I had tried it sooner, even got some to go.Then, dessert...Oh my goodness...Just wow...Had the homemade turtle cheese cake...Better than...Well, use your imagination or just order a piece for yourself! The deserts are limited and seasonal.Needless to say well be making regular trips up here from Medford from now on.
There were several birthdays, including ours . Our sever was brand knew , fresh out of the box, we order drinks and it took longer than average to get to us , but they where perfect , down to the ice cube . We ordered our vegan meals , one not on the menu but Ordered when the incredible owner walked out to talk to us about question we had . We got our food, it was wonderful and small portioned , just the right size for but and the birthday boy thought it was a bit small , but still good. The lady gave us a slice of free delicious cake and sang the birthday song in her Cuban father-in-laws voice. It was incredible. She’s amazing and passionate about everything ! She obviously cares about her community very much , she was kind in so many ways .
IF you havent tried this place you should. Owner is sweet and food is all cooked by them. She gave us a taste of all 3 meats; chicken, pork, and beef all three were delicious it was hard to select after that. Even the drinks were tasty had a mojito. This is my new favorite place so please try it but dont over crowd her so I can still get in and order.
Love the Cultured Palate!! Angela is fantastic and her authentic Cuban food is phenomenal!!Try the best Mojito you will ever have! The Hungry Hustle will keep coming back for more! The Cuban Sandwich is very very very good and big and The Rum Cake is to die for. She features a homemade monthly Cheesecake as well..Thank you Angela!
Angela, the owner is not only friendly and wonderful to converse with her food is exceptional! Very tasty and she has a wide selection of wines. Great place for dinner and lunch. Have been there several times to introduce my friends to her special Cuban specialities and to her welcoming smiles. 😍
Very traditional preparations, which may not suit those seeking Americanized cuisine. The owner, Angela, is very friendly. The ambience is equally pleasing. The menu is simple, but justly so. I had the Cuban style daiquiri and it was wonderful, as was the rum cake and Cuban espresso.
We had a truly lovely dinner here tonight. The tapas bowl/ensalada was simple but wonderfully flavorful with melt in your mouth pork, the Cuban sandwich was AMAZING, and the mojitos and rum cake were great and rounded out a delicious meal. One of the owners, Angela, chatted with us and was welcoming and so attentive. Great music and atmosphere too. Well be back!
Adorable atmosphere, good food and excellent wine selection. One of the few places in town with organic options too!
Amazing food and drinks, outstanding service, I loved the atmosphere, and terrific prices! !!
GREAT Cuban food! Relaxed, casual atmosphere. Amazing wine selection and unmatched customer service!! I have yet to order something off the menu that wasnt fabulous. Trust me, this is THE place to go, no matter the occasion...
Delicious authentic Cuban food. Its not spicy but full of flavor! They also have an amazing selection of wine to choose from. The owners and staff are friendly and give great service. I plan to visit here again!
