Cuba, Matanzas
Unique destination allowing visitors to swim, scuba dive & snorkel in a stalagmite-filled cave.
Stunning cave. We were lucky to have the all cave just for us because normally it can be crowded. We went there from Varadero with a taxi (2 peoplefor 40€ + 10€ (2x5 € for the entrance). The total was 50€ way and back, plus entrance plus the taxi waited 1h at the entrance of the cave for us to enjoy and swim. You have to discuss of the price before before we went from 60€ to 40€.The cave is a must-see in Varadero.
Similar to cenotes in Mexico, nice little place for a swim in freshwater, away from the sun and sand.
Awesome experience swimming in a fresh water cave. If you are ever in Varadero, Cuba this is a must see!
Snorkeling and lovely spot where you can enjoy diving and swimming within this Majestic natural formation. Una de Las Cuevas mas bellas y hermosas de Cuba. Se las recomiendo
Natural cave with a fresh water pool. Crystal clear water, magical blue glow.
We visited the location on 20.06.2022. The cave is very beautiful and the crystal clear waters (N.B. not salt waterare at the perfect temperature for a refreshing bath.Highly recommended and worthwhile the effort.
The Saturno cave was so magical 😍 after a brief trek down a wooden staircase surrounded by forests and big rocks you reach this beautiful cave where everyone took a dip to swim. Theres a bunch of tiny little birds flying in the air and while the cave Is very hot and humid, the water is nice and cool. The colours of the cave walls are so beautiful with shades of greys, greens, blues and even the outside looks amazing. There are outdoor showers as well as washrooms at the entrance before you go down the stairway. The cave also has a deep end and a shallow end that you can stand in.
Awesome little cave, went there during part of our jeep excursion. Awesome place to cool of. It was busy when we showed up but we were the last ones to leave after hanging out for about an hour. During the day I would expect to see a crowd
Amazing. Bring snorkeling gear and swimsuits!! Id say change into your swimsuit before arrival, theres minimal space on the deck
If you are in Varadero, I suggest a quick trip over here, and to also bring snorkeling gear! If you arent a swimmer youll probably be here for just 15-30 mins. If you snorkel and swim you will stay here longer.Cool little cave and walk down. The water was relatively cool and clear. We went when it wasnt busy and it made the experience much better. There is not a lot of room to loiter, but there is a deck halfway up that you can view from. There is also a deck at the bottom but I would say that would be more for swimmers.Unfortunately there is no desk or spot to place your belongings, but you can put them on the rocks/outside of the stair pathways. There are lots of large, slow moving millipedes near the jungle canopy, so watch out as you head down into the cave!
Nice clear and clean water. Good bathing. Worth the visit
A beautiful underground cave that makes its own mineral water. The water goes from 1 feet to 22 feet. The staff was very friendly and gave us a chance to go inside even though they were officially closed. I would recommend it for any one. Not for kids under 4 or 5 years old. Its too many steps to get to the cave.
If you are in Cuba, its a MUST!!! I have never seen that colour of water before, its natural spring water... amazing!!!
Wicked place, definite must see while in Cuba!
This is a cenote, which you totally need to go to if youre in Cuba! The road there is easy and the surrounding is well maintained. Its great to swim in the water, but be careful not to scratch yourself as the cliffs are ruffled.
This was a great place for a quick stop on our way from Havana to Veradero. My advice would be to not bring much with you as there is no place to put your belongings safely while you are in the water. The water was pretty cold but you got used to it quickly. When we got there, there were not very many people. A bus must have showed up shortly after because it got crowded fast. I would say that this was worth the 30 minute stop.
Beautiful place, natural wonder, bar and snacks available
This is a must see! My favorite attraction in Cuba. Swimming and driving in the cave was a beautiful experience! The water is clear and a bit chilly at first but it’s perfect for those hot days. The food was excellent as well. Bring your googles!
This is a bit of an unconventional review as we did NOT go diving here but I wanted to give major props to the restaurant/little cafe here. One of the best food we had in all of our stay in Cuba, much better than the resorts food, and their chicken is absolutely juicy and tasty. We even asked if we could take some of their fried plantains to go and they happily obliged for an extra CUC.Quite clean and nice open air, its a good place to pick an unfussy, and down-home Cuban food. Its one of the places I miss the most in Cuba, oddly enough.
This is a kind of place that is FULLY made from mother nature, La Cueva de Saturno where you can swim and feel that the time stopped right there, just imagine how many years this place being here before "humans", Cuba like all over America has this kind of beauties, the place is all beautiful, also you are able to see birds nesting up there, a MUST to visit, very close to one of the more beautiful beaches in the planet, Varadero!
Great experience to swim in the caves and just off the rocks. Cool refreshing swim. Very popular and looking forward to next visit.
A beautiful cave with amazingly crystal clear blue water. Is very deep in areas but also has a shallow section that you can sit and relax or swim in, very refreshing on a hot sunny day. With all the tour groups coming and going, the place can get crowded at times. A place worth visiting though.
What an amazing place. Beautiful experience.
We took a Jeep Safari tour in Matanzas, near Varadero in Cuba.It was amazing experience: we drove stick Jeep through a very scenic rural area, visited farm, took a horse back rides.Visited a beautiful caves and swam in a gorgeous and clean vulcanite lake.Took a speed boat tour on a lake and more!I will definitely come back.
So much fun, refreshing cool, natural cave water and friendly staff. Oh! And a beautiful, friendly orange and white kitten running around.
Great sights. Absolutely gorgeous water that is nice and cool. Small and takes max 20 mins to tour if you dont want to swim. Lots of stone stairs that can be slippery. There was no guide so you dont find out more about the history of the cave. They have a souvenir shop but its just generic Cuba souvenirs you can get in town, nothing specific to the caves.
Stunning place! You must check it out!
Water is amazingly clear and you can see down about 60 despite the dark of the cave. Water actually felt warm.... for a cave. But too many swimmers to see the fish/shrimp, which were probably hiding from all the noise we were making.
Cenote. If you like to swim in cold water!
Touristy and paid but worth it. People come and go so you can experience both a crowded cave or a completely private cave.It is only about two mins walk from the parking so no hikes or anything. There is also a cafe to buy drinks and snack or use a toilet.
A beautiful cave and jewel toned green water. One can swim there too. They have a changing area. Only 2 in the group swam, and they loved it.
This is a unique pristine cave formation with an underground fresh water pool to take a dip. Theres a shallow section of the pool to sit and relax if you are not a swimmer
What a place.. Try to go there in the morning, we were there alone! Real experience. Toilet and small bar available.
Very nice place to visit
One of the most magical places Ive ever been. Ice cold mineral water. A bottomless dive into the black. It made me nervous just swimming across it. Well worth the fee.
Good water inside the cave, nice place to visit
Amazing place to visit. Recommend skipping the jeep safari and going directly here. Unforgettable!
Had an amazing time there with my son in March 2018 going again this year!!
Bring your underwater camera and snorkelling gear because under the water is even more gorgeous than on top. I have been there twice now and loved the experience! Go to the right where there is a bit of a tunnel then look under water to the left and you will see a second cave starting there under water. The stalagtites are more pristine under water. I have done 8 caves in Cuba so far and this one is the best to swim in. Go visit Cueva Bellamar after. Totally different. Do NOT go with a tour, just book a taxi and if you are on a tight budget just ask other tourists where you are and share a taxi. Then you can go visit La Diniosia Cafetal (look it up on Googleand Cueva Bellamar. If you can go visit Matanzas too.
Amazing cueva! If you are in Cuba you have to check it out!
Wow! Really cool spot to check out. Water was clear and warmer than i expected.
A must visit if vacationing in Varadero Cuba. It is about a 1/2 hour cab ride from Varadero. You can swim in the cave and take all the pictures you want.
Amazing. Cool waters, beautiful cave, small crowd during March. I jumped from one of the sides after climbing up the rocks, very fun experience. Best cave Ive visited in Cuba.
A place you must visist. Its not everyday that you can swim in a cave. The water is warmer than expected. And its cristal clear. Make sure you have a ride back, cause there are no taxis there waiting for you.
Plan your visit and inquire ahead of time with people who have been here recently. Although the place is well described online for its snorkeling and diving activities, there was nothing when i visited in December. Not sure if it was because of holiday season but all activities had stopped. No equipment rentals either except for life jackets. The cave nonetheless is still beautiful and the water is clear and fresh. It is worth a one time visit especially if you are experiencing cave water for the first time.
GORGEOUS PLACE! Clearest water you’ve ever seen! Naturally a bit cold, but easy to get used to. They’ve also built a wooden deck around the bottom naturally-occurring rocky structures to access the cave’s pool with greater ease.
Amazing place, absolutely beautiful and nice for spending a good while there with or without the family. The cold, refreshing, and crystal clear water from the cave takes away all the heat from the brief walk into it.
Gorgeous looking Cave. Not much to see in terms of snorkeling but you can swim in this cave.
Super fat cool place! Def must see! And the feeling when you dive underwater and you are able to see to the bottom of 22 metres... Priceless! <3 <3 <3 Adore Cuba!
Beautiful caves. Take a dip in the fresh water. Its cold but a great experience. Beautiful garden with a hiking path too. Snack bar makes a great Expresso.
