Exactly what we were looking for. Fantastic food, perfect service.

Superb food, wine & service. Up there with the best quality steaks we’ve had in 40+ years. Take a walk out from where everyone else goes. Outside eating area after a 38 degree hot day was perfect. Highly recommended.

Excellent food with a staff that takes care of guests! It’s very personal and made with love 🫶🏻 the location is very nice in an old, italian street. We enjoyed it and we will definitelly come back. Thank you!

Absolutely fabulous. Get there early if youve not reserved a table, its very popular and deservedly so. The best restaurant we visited during a week long stay in Italy. Stunning in just about every way. Definitely going to do this one again!

Had a fantastic dinner here on our first night in Florence. We shared a starter, and secondi piatti and had a primi piatti and dessert each but i could’ve eaten it all twice over! It was fairly quiet due to off season and the service was amazing, everyone was very friendly. I highly recommend it!

When youre in italy, you gotta try this resto. Came here after a long day and was greeted by the really friendly kind italian people. Sat down on the chairs and looked at the menu. Menu is in English too, great job, buddy! We ordered food and it was simply delightful. Pair your food with wine to have an authentic experience. Arividerci!

A nice place next to our hotel :would recommend the steak

Amazing food. We had polpo in guazzetto and tagliolini porcini e tartufo which were simply superb. Definitely worth going!

Very good food.stuff not so friendly

My first pizza on my first day in Firenze. If my pleasure can be put on a scale of empty to full, it overflowed every time I took a bite. What I fear is that every other pizza i will try in the future, outside of this restaurent, will be a disappointment.

The pizza was great and generous in filling, the dough itself is also quite good. The fritto misto main was a bit basic. The service was good, overall a good dinner.

Delicous food, but not very polite waitress. Would go there again as the rest of the personnel was quite friendly.

Top notch pasta, friendly service, locals were warmly welcomed and plentiful. The only drawback was several wines, especially the less expensive ones were listed but not available. Still we found a good one and enjoyed the meal thoroughly.

Food was mediocre. I give 3 stars for presentation and service. Service was really good. Didn’t really have to wait for anything. They also were able to sit me on a Friday night, without reservation. We were really happy about that. We had the mussels and clams to start. They were really bland and tasted old. I come from New England. I know how good, fresh mussels taste. These were off. No flavor and extremely rubbery. We had the French fries, which were great, and the venison tartar with foie gras, which was delicious and as expected. My wife had the steak and mushrooms. The steak was super bland. You could see the oil on it, but there was no flavor. The mushrooms didn’t help any either. And the broccoli “flan” they had as a side looked amazing, but that’s all it had going for it. There was no flavor to that and it was like a soft broccoli pudding. I would be hesitant to come back. If it wasn’t for the presentation of the food, which looked lovely, and the service I wouldn’t leave any stars. That’s just our feeling, but read through the other reviews and tell yourself it’s good, only to be disappointed like me.

Really good location next to a confortable underground car parking. Next to one of the hottest zones in Florence. Staff can speak English friendly. I was with a French friend who loves French good kitchen. After the fab dinner she now wants to leave Paris and come live in Florence. Super Guys! 😉

Have to say - this is the first restaurant I have felt the need to write a review for after leaving only two hours prior. It was by far the most amazing meal that I’ve had in Italy! The service was fantastic and they accommodated our party even though we did not have a reservation. The Alfredo with prawns, clams, shrimp, etc. was cooked to perfection and I will be coming back again on my next visit!!!

Special dishes and really good service. Restaurant is near to the University and lots of local people go there for dinner. We will definitely visit La Mattonaia again!

I had the sliced steak and my wife had the chilli crust chicken - both were 10/10 dishes. We shared caprese salad and bread to start. Few lovely drinks too. This place is excellent. Eat with the locals and not tourists! 👍🏻

*Long review alert* We stayed in Firenze for 5 nights and went to the restaurant for dinner for 3 times. Our Airbnb host recommended the place to us, and our first experience was great. The waiter was friendly and very helpful. He asked the kitchen to make the food the way we wanted and it is tasty. And that was why we went back. Something unpleasant happened when we were there the third time. A waitress completely ignored us for many times while serving the other tables with exceptional hospitality, and ordered the wrong food which made us wait for an hour. We were really confused and angry with her attitude and behaviour. But the other waiters were really friendly and responsive. In the end the manager/owner apologised to us and offered us free dinner. It was a nice surprise and it did make us feel much better.So in general I would recommend this place to every tourist here in Firenze. Good food at reasonable price and good service. Pleasant experience.

I can only review the pizzas because we got take away, but they were AMAZING. Thin and light, but with a lovely crust edge that was fluffy and had the wonderful brick oven flavor. Also very well priced for being a little on the fancy side!

Excellent Steak Tartare complimented with a great Brunello. Lemon ravioli, risotto, and broccoli pate were all solid choices.

Nice place and staff.Limited menu,but looks fancy.Tried the green pasta with seafood and it was too salty.The waiter asked and he said he will tell the chef..noting happened...still nice place ,avoid the seafood asta;)

Love all the food there especially the "Saute mussels and clams with cherry tomato" Yummm.

This was another amazing food experience! The pizza chief carla, taught a how to make pizza at a cooking class see walkabout tours. We came for dinner and shared 3 dishes. The clams and mussels were the best we have ever had. The pasta and seafood was amazing. promise not tell mama but the egg plant parm was link your plate amazing. Price was reasonable, not a tourist trap either. You will not be disappointed!
