A little pricey but excellent Cuban atmosphere

Tourist trap. Nice cocktails though.

The most famous bar in Havana. This is the place where the Mojito was invented and is definitely a must for tourists. The bar has live cuban music so you can enjoy a drink or smoke a cigar. However, I truly believe this bar has more fame than anything else; I ordered about 4 mojitos but found all of them to be tasteless or poorly made. I had much better ones in El Floridita. Besides, just like anywhere else in Cuba, the singer from the bar would harass us for tips every 5m which was kind of annoying. With that said, you should still stop by and have at least one drink to get to know this bar.

The location is Mexico is so much better, live music here is great don’t get me wrong. But the restaurant side of the place is awful. Our pushy waiter kept rushing us to order and came back every 3 minutes to ask what we want. He even grabbed my phone and zoomed in the menu for me to read it. The food itself was not bad an prices were okay for a touristy place, however the waiter added a “necessary tip” onto the meal. He had not written it on the receipt and said the money we owe him wasn’t enough bc they charge a mandatory tip. Sad to know that this place is not free of scammers either.

Famous place because Hemingway usually go there to have refreshing mojito. Very simple but in the same time you can feel spirit of old Cuba. Often they have live music and atmosphere whit them is unbelievable. Barmen is super nice and professional.

Bodeguita! Music live and fine mojito. In and out, prob you spend no more than 30min there.

The Bodeguita is the Bodeguita and the mojitos remain the best in the world. There was a time when a mojito was almost unknown outside Cuba but the competition from bars worldwide has not dimmed the brilliance of the barmen here.It was surprisingly empty (post-Covid tourists havent come back yetand we got a table with no trouble. The pork and black beans were delicious, but unfortunately there was nothing else to drink except mojito or water.Service was great and friendly and no doubt with the return of the normal numbers of tourists it will be restored to the happy, bustling place we know and love.

The so called famous mojito is pure soda and it costs 5 euros. Its historical but it doesnt really worth it

What a place!!! The ambience is just the best. Mojitos are super good and you have live music every day. In my opinion is one of the best bars in Havana. You can also eat and it has a 2nd floor where you can also Have a good mojito or another drink. If you pay a little extra you can choose different rums for your mojitos. The bar area is a bit small but its great if you want to meet interesting people.

Nice to peek inside and taste the atmosphere, but its often very crowded and drinks are quite overpriced. Cool place to have seen, but not that special really.

If you‘re looking for unfriendly staff and bad Mojitos that‘s your place to be! At least the bar is pretty though.

If I could give 0 I would. Disrespectful staff. Making difference between customers. Place is known fotlr people signing on the wall and yet we where refused a pen. Kitchen untidy and unclean. Rude staff. Please go there and have a drink but avoid eating. They think that you owe them. Have no understanding of customer service

A must place to go if you are in Habana Vieja. Famous for the "Hemingway" mojito.... very good (but the most expensive mojito that you will have in cubato drink.. but for me the atmosphere and the preparition of this treasure is the best... seat... relax with some music and enjoy the cuban spirit.Off course is very turistic and crowed... but it worth!

It is a somehow painful knowing I am unlikely to ever visit again after the opening of this now "remodel" restaurant. Its wall strip of what made it special. Regular, average peoples signatures and phrases, along for what some might consider "Bulk graffiti" and mundane, is as much a part of the history and valued heritage of what made that place a historic location worth of preservation as the "few" notable signatures of famous people that visited were. Is a shame that the Cuban government and the people responsible for the restoration couldnt see its value. Is also ignorance to assume that a building could not be repaired and would have needed to crumble down in order for its history to be maintained. Restorations of buildings in higher state of damaged have been made times over without the need to abolish its history and heritage. It was the fact that an average person could walk in one day looking to find their grandparents signature, or to discover that that mundane graffiti was maybe done by an artist that is years in the future recognized as one of the greatest. I feel sorry for the lost of all of that, and a small thanks that Eusebio Leal was dead when that atrocity was made, as it would have surely killed him. He would have never allowed such an atrocity of history.All that was preserved was the building, because "La Bodeguita del Medio" was most definitely NOT!

Visited in November 2019 while all of the Americas, it seemed, were in town to celebrate Havanas 500th anniversary. Consequently, the place was packed. No problemo; we partied in the street out front! Great band, and the bartenders somehow kept up with the neverending mojito orders.

A legendary spot to visit in Havana, made famous by Ernest Hemingway. Extremely busy but the atmosphere around the place was so lively. A band plays live music throughout the day. The mojitos were delicious! Because the spot is so famous and busy, a lot of street artists are around so I recommend watching your bag when youre there.

Like anyone would say its a staple of Havana. So cute and cozy. Got in just in time to sit at the bar a few tour groups popped on by making it so busy so if youre there and its busy, go have a look elsewhere and try again. If youre not gonna sit at the bar or restaurant I wouldnt say its worth it. Keep in mind the cost of 1 mojito is 5cuc or $5USD so its not cheap.

Nice place, but crowded. We didnt have to wait too long for mojito, but we had to drink it in the street. The taste was nothing exceptional, standard. Compared with other pubs it was 2x expensive.

After 2 visits to Havana I assure you the mojitos here are by far the best in town. Cheap $4 mojitos and fun to watch them make. There was love music when we were there. It was crowded but we got there before it opened so we could grab a seat.

Fast in and out service. Very interesting. Lots to look at. Only 3 of 15 cocktails were available at 1pm that day. Tried the croquetas, yummy but not overly flavourful. Large portions. No smiles.

Very trendy place, to my eyes little bit ovepriced. But one of Havana must see places. I would consider what day time to visit bar, in my case bar as full(late lunch 15.30), but almost empty at 16.30. I guess that quality of service would be different, based on occupancy.

Its a must while in la Habana! Music is great but the musicians were rude. I was standing close to them and they were pushing us badly... I guess it should be tiring working in the crowd, since theres no division or soever. Same with the bar tenders, kind of rude but I guess they were tied at the end of the night. However, they serve best mojitos ever. I would definitely go back only for the mojitos 💕💕💕

We were in Havana last Sunday on a tour. This was our lunch stop. 34 of us were met with a warm welcome and seated right away. The service was amazing, the restaurant beautiful and the lunch from salad, soup, chicken with rice and dessert was excellent. The best meal of the week,. Thank you so much for making the Havana experience wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant it is a must.

A must do whilst in Havana. The bar has a great atmosphere with plenty of mojitos going around and live music. A great place to stop by and have a few drinks. We also ate here for dinner but didnt enjoy that so much.

Nice place to stop by and have a few drinks. Wide food menu. Prices are slightly high because it is a pretty touristic place. Service and ambiance are good, and the decor features a lot of Cuban memorabilia. There is often live music going on.

I want and I must make tourist aware about two biggest mistakes or wrong doing from this place. The biggest one is that the ice that they put on the drinks are from tap water, which it leads get some parasites in your stomach since the water in Cuba is not as process as ours. Two they should use angostura bitters. My brother and I spent few days with diarrhea after been here. Plus everybody gets crazy on the first floor when you have a nice bar on the second floor.

A must visit when in Havana. One of the most historical places in the city. Obviously, the buzz around the venue is used by the owners to increase a bit the prices but it is still worth the experience. 6€ for a mojito. Permanently packed with tourists and local people playing guitar and singing. Good place as well to buy some souvenirs, cigars and memorabilia on the store of the bar. Good prices when compared to official stores of the government.

La Bodeguita del Medio, the famous venue in Havana, Cuba.The place where Ernest Hemingway used to have dinner, as per the locals, as this was one of his favourite barsThe venue is located on a busy pedestrian road in the heart of Havanas old town.The places is cleaner than the average Cuban restaurants, but do not expect 5 stars :)They call it "The birthplace of the Mojito" as the legend says this cocktail was invented in this very bar.Beverage selection is the same as all over Havana, but the main focus is, of course, on the Mojito.There is a framed quote which is supposed to be Hemmingways and it says: "My mojito in la Bodeguita, my daiquiri in El Floridita".Dining wise, you can get the same dishes around the city, maybe the spices are a little bit different or in a different quantity, but for myself, the food tasted the same all over the place.El Floridita takes reservation as it is a tourist attraction, but you can force your luck and try a walk-in approach, at least you will be able to get yourself a drink if cannot be seated for dinner/lunch.If you will be going in as part of an organised tour, you will not have to worry about making a reservation as this will be made for you.Usually there is a nice live band singing (at the top floor when we were thereand of course, like in any other Cuban place, you are expected to give tips to everybody and you can buy CDs with a couple of songs form the live band.Unlike other places, there was no need to pay to go to the toilet as there was nobody by the door...or maybe we were just in luck :).All in all, it is a nice place with writings all over the place...and I mean all over the place; it feels like going back in time and it is a nice feeling.

It is worth a look simply if you want to see a bit of history as evident by the graffiti and memorabilia. While it is typically packed with camera toting tourists they do serve a good mojito and can have a good atmosphere. The live bands are wonderful. Most people just stay outside and listen to the music, its electrifying.

This is one of the most touristic spot in Havana. Yes it is a tourist trap, yes it is expensive, of course it is always crowded but still it is a must go place in Havana! One of the best mojito in town. It is Hemingway’s favourite location on this end of the town. Walls are full of autographs from Salvador Allende, Fidel Castro, Harry Belafonte, Nat King Cole. Atmosphere is cool. Try to get a seat on the bar and enjoy your moment.

A Havana Classic. Even though its no secret and you can tell how popular this place is, it did not disappoint. Went multiple times during my stay in Havana and the service is quick and very friendly. It is amazing how a bar runs just serving one single drink all day and remains busy all day. Great spot to take a break from walking through the city and listen to some classic salsa hits played by the many different groups of musiviand stopping at the bar.

The bar is unfortunately always crowded at any time. Since this is a tourist hot spot you can even come in the morning, but you will not get a seat.And then you finally have a place you will probably found on umpteen Instagram profiles as curious tourists constantly take pictures. The original charm of the bar is unfortunately not much left.

Its hard not to be crammed in a bar this small but its soooooo worth it!! The locals, the music, the dancing, the fresh Mojitos!! If you dont stop here for at least one Mojito your trip wont be complete, Im not a fan of crowds, but this one was different!! Push your way up to the bar and enjoy a drink and some great music!!

“Crowded but you have to go”Weve been 3 times I think to this, but we didnt feel sorry at all. The atmosphere is incredible while the band is there and is singing. Indeed sometimes could be very crowded, but dont let this to spoil your fun. The mojitos are OK and if you can manage to find a timeframe when is not crowded by tourists it can be a nice place. We also ate in the restaurant and food was OK, not exceptional but OK.

A historic little spot where they say you can get the best mojito in Havana. Used to be a favorite of Ernest Hemmingways and at nights its packed and overflowing into the streets. Its unmistakable if youre walking by on an evening because everyone will be packed inside and circled around the outside. We sat outside and enjoyed a drink and smoked a cigar on a weekday evening, and it was nothing short of lively. This is a must if youre in Havana and especially if youre looking for a late night drink/scene.

the food was very disappointing - my friends and I ordered 3 different things, and we didnt like any of them. my pork was really dry. but yes, its a historic place, interesting interior with live music - which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of one. I didnt know they claim to have invented the mojito - want to go back and try that next time.

I believe anyone who is visiting Havana would make a stop here given the history behind it. Every time I passed it and then when I eventually visited it, it was always packed and crowded. I loved the ambiance, decor, the nostalgia and the feeling this place evoked. The music that was played during our visit was great. But the food was disappointing. I had the shrimp dish. The shrimp were large in quantity but lacked flavor and was under cooked. But from my friends I heard that the pork dish was amazing. They also didnt have all the drinks that were on the menu. Overall a place that I will visit to just tick it off a must do list. But thats about it. Doesnt warrant a return unless its for a quick Mojito break!

This was a fantastic wee bar and the mojitos were just incredible!Its a very busy bar so you may have to wait to get in but its worth it. As small as it was, they still managed to fit a band in to play music while you drink.Every nook and cranny was covered in messages written by customers and it was almost impossible to find a spot to write our names.The food wasnt anything to write home about but if youre in the area, get in there for a drink!

Fantastic historic bar located at the heart of Old Havana. Indeed, it is crowded, but they probably have the best (and the most expensivemojito of the whole Havana (5 CUC). Live music performance is a big plus for a cheerful atmosphere. A definitely must-go place.
