Ballajá San Juan, San Juan 00926, Puerto Rico, San Juan
Cuartel de Ballajá - Historical landmark in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Its a pretty cool place not gonna lie but some of the first floor has been burned and I havent seen any progress on fixing or repainting that part. The banners promoting the museum can be to big and bothersome and the place can be a little bit ugly because it needs paint work but apart from that is really big and mindblowing the past from that structure.
It was an awesome Place to visit, the First time ever for me Tito - El Rockero never been here its Beautiful and will recommend it to anyone just $ 6 Dollar to enter but as you could see all my Pictures are Beautiful ... Thanks and God Bless , Amen . 🙏🙏🙏 .
Beautiful landmark!
Its a very cool square. The little Spanish restaurant is excellent.
This place is so beautiful. A lot of history in this place and is very close to El Castillo San Cristobal del Morro. It has a few restaurants and two museums. The architecture is amazing
Attended the 500th Anniversary Of San Juan celebrations. It was wonderfully set up and illuminated. You can visit it also when you are at the 1950 Restaurant adjacent. Authentic Spanish architecture from 1864.
Our historic buildings.
Lovely old building with the largest central patio in Puerto Rico. The Museum of the Americas is located on the second floor there. A couple of places to eat. Try the Arroz Campesino at the Cinema Restaurant, just amazing. The service at the restaurant is rarely good so take advantage of your waiter/waitress when you have them.
The Site is Beautiful but the Food wasnt too good Seafood Soup had little to none Seafood
Reviewing this building purely for the visual aspect. The symmetry and colors are a photography dream!
Pretty, old and historic. It has an interesting museum. Great for photos too.
Wonderful. Today they have music and dancers.Traditional vendors with arts and crafts.Excellents restaurants with Spanish and puertorican cuisine.
The Artisans Fair going on is great. Later on there will be music. Continues until tomorrow in the afternoon.
Its history. Very interesting. They have little shops where you can eat something.
Amazing tourist area. There are museums, restaurants and its right next to El Morro.
I just love this place! Im a local who lives 15 mins away and I would go every day if I could. The new exhibits are wonderful. The admission fees are cheap and if youre a student its even cheaper. Great place to take pictures too!
Experience the magnitude of this building, built by the Kindom of Castilla. It feels like it is a privilege just to stand there. The museum is also impressive.
I didnt actually visit this place (I wish I had the timeI used it as a way to pass through to the other side. But it looked awesome.
Large historic site in Old San Juan. Have only visited twice and both times to enjoy the festivities of festivals held at the site. Bathroom available.
Great place and atmosphere we were lucky they had live music and vendors we loved it
Good security, one public bathroom in service, the other one is in repair status. Museum on 2nd floor, nearby restaurants and great view. Be aware of the heat. Wear a hat!
enjoyable, open place. surrounded by old world charm and cool breezes, this was once part of a fort in beautiful Old San Juan,Puerto Rico.
Very nice historic building with a museum of art on the second floor. There is also a coffee shop and a restaurant on the first floor with outside seating on the plaza
When we arrived, they had a market setup in the center. It was awesome to see all the trinkets and whatnot made by locals. There are also some great little shops around the inside wall with great food and coffee. Definitely check it out if you are nearby.
Right next to El Morro here you can enjoy a cup of coffee or either go to the cinema bar. It is also a museum.Bathrooms are open to the public
Excellent place if you are in Old San Juan. They have a retro Movie Theater, international food and great variety of Mojitos!!!
In my visit there was a craft fair, they explained us very well but it was very hot between the tents.
Excellent. I attended the Feria de Artesanos Internacional. I was a shame that although San Juan was full of tourist, very few where seen at the Feria. There were at least 4 cruise ships but our "great" mayor of SJ made it almost impossible for the artesamos to receive clients. I do not know how she can be called mayor and worst how puertorricans voted for her for a second time, now we are all paying the price. She can be compared with the "greatest US president", Mr. Trump, how lucky we are!!!
A nice place to visit especially on the weekends when they have a market & live music. They have food & drinks all around the area.
Very historical “Barracks” for the Spanish soldiers. Excellent events and exhibitions including International Artisans!
What a beautiful place. I passed by while strolling Old San Juan and stumbled upon the Cuartel, there was a show on the history of Puerto Rico projected onto the building and a nice seating area. The show gave a great narrative of PRs history. It runs in both English and Spanish. A must see.
Museum under restoration after hurricane Maria but still beautiful.
Historical site of Spanish infantry unit converted into a museum. This site has restaurants, coffee shops and retail stores.
Even though hurricane Maria left a pretty bad damage, it still holds up with its beautiful history and does well by supporting local and international artists.
Nice to visit, eat and enjoy a good cup of coffee
Full of Historical Places, Awesome Views and Warm People. Nice restaurants and bars around. A place to spend a relax time!
Very very beautiful, so interesting its one of my most favorite place. You can enjoy the museo and delicious food.
A lot of fun.Nice place.Good place to visit.
Nice place filled with history, restaurants, coffee shops and little shops. There is also a museum in the site. It is well mantain and clean. The place is right in front of Del Morro fort and was used to be spanish barracks. There is a projection show in the evening about Puerto Rican history...very nice.
Old San Juan historic colonial military building. Here you can find a PR history museum, cinema, gift shops etc.
Cuartel de Ballajá and Old San Juan beautiful for Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián! Very clean and loving people everywhere.
Important cultural space, exhibits change and there are many activities in the building; it is also a good stop for a good coffee or lunch
Very beautiful area... shops and restaurants and street food and everything you want... love it so much I didnt want to leave ... a must see
Amazing place. Very historic. Dont miss it when you go to the castle. Just across the street. Many different art types grouped in different rooms.
Excellent venue for cultural events. There are restaurants, cafés, cinema bar and Museo las Américas; all in a historical setting. What more can you ask for?
Old Spanish fort and barracks --part of the San Juan Historic Site-- turned into Las Americas Museum and cultural activities center. Excellent example of Spanish military architecture. Visitors enjoy one of the many cultural activities that take place regularly at Ballajá, from movie screenings, to museum exhibits and theatrical productions.
wish I knew about this place before. it has a huge courtyard with a few restaurants and a coffee shop which also serves good specials on beer. I hope they forgive me for forgetting the names, but these businesses are pretty much hidden inside. This is also a museum, but did not get a chance to go. good photo op and right by El Morro
Great historical site! Lovely view, great place to celebrate a wedding (third floor). Remember to visit the Las Américas Museum on the second floor!!!!!
One of my favorite spots in Old San Juan. Built between 1854 to 1864 as a military barracks it is now home to: Museo de Las Américas (2nd floor), Don Ruiz Coffee Shop (a must visit), CineBar 150, Rincon IbericoLove the buildings architecture and on weekends you might be able to catch a guitar class or classical music workshop
Beautiful place. It doesnt even look like a military barracks. Now, there are different offices, a museum, art schools and restaurants inside. Even so a great place, nice view day and night.
