Crowne Plaza South Beach - Z Ocean Hotel in Miami Beach
Description
This place has gone downhill and it’s showing it’s age. I always stayed here but after my last stay, I will be looking for a new place to stay. It seems like they will give a room to anyone with money. The hotel was filled with loud guests and loud music. I called the front desk several times but the noise continued until 6 AM. We always received free breakfast, but this last time they told me it’s no longer included. They moved the front desk to the location in front of the elevators. It doesn’t make sense. My room was not ready when I arrived at 2:00 so I had to check my luggage. Instead of wheeling the luggage into the door at the front desk as before, now they threw the luggage onto a cart to transport it to the room. All because they moved the front desk. They scratched and dented my Tumi metal luggage. They didn’t care. They said they are not responsible. Bull. It was in their possession and due to their employee that it was dented and scratched. If you want to party with college kids then this is the place for you.
MoreI enjoyed my one-night stay here. The front desk and valet staff are very nice. The jacuzzi was private and relaxing. The shower was amazing with all its different hoses. I understand that some people may not like this hotel because it is outdated so some of the chairs may have a stain or the walls need a paint job. The bed was clean and comfortable. I honestly think the amenities are great.. the hotel just needs some refurbishments. But the actual cleanliness of the hotel was good for me it didnt appear dirty just old like I said. The location was great as well. Oh the jacuzzi was very clean too!I would definitely stay again.
Morei was here for only 1 night for a friends bachlorette. we are local but just wanted to stay somewhere in the middle of miami beach. lobby and pool is decent, but the rooms arent the best. some are part of the hotel and some are rented by previous owners when it was a condo. many things are outdated and they dont even discount parking if youre staying there. although the cost was split among 4x people it was still a little over priced for what it is actually worth. Go to a Marriott.
MoreMe & my man loved this hotel! You get a complimentary glass of champagne from The Front Porch, the restaurant attached to the hotel. The rooms are nice & the location is great! Literally walking distance to a lot of great eating places & a short Uber drive to anywhere else. The staff was welcoming & very accommodating. I’d like to give a big thanks to the young man working at the pool cafe. We didn’t get his name but he did go out of his way to get us some more towels & soap. We might make this our place to stay when we visit Miami again!
MoreThis Hotel only offers Valet parking for your car; which is $35.00.per night. This cost is not advertised on the website. The Hotel check in area is pedestrian at best, cheap looking tables and no professional desk. The Room #215 has a view of the street and a building that has Stucco faling off. The public can look right into the room from the street. There is a cheap looking curtain to shield the Spa. The Spa had to be filled by the staff and only 2 jets worked. I was really unhappy with the Spa and the deck area. The room just didnt look very clean. There were 2 TVs, one TV did not have a remote, the other TV had to have the input changed in order for the TV to work. We were scheduled to stay for 2 nights; we left after only 1 night. This Hotel takes advantage of their location to the beach. They over charge customers for an old and outdated property; and the service is very poor. I understand how Crowne Plaza pulled their name off of this Hotel. The Crowne Plaza brand has a reputation of providing a great hotel experience; this hotel is not a good experience at all. We will not stay there again.
MoreRooms and locations are perfect. We had the hot tub on the balcony. IHG members beware... customer service is that of Motel 6. Julissa at the front desk needs a new job. Rude!!!! With an ATTITUDE!!!! I am diamond elite I asked for late check out she said she could give til noon. Next am, Housekeeping knocking on my door at 10:55 saying check out was 11. I told them I had til 12. Shortly after, my phone rings front desk telling me check out is 11. I told her it was going on the review and hung up. She calls back to educate me that her name is "JULISSA, just for my review". (so as promised, here it isTHEN.....as I go to pay for lunch I have no credit card. My son says he put it in the counter of the room. So I go back. Julissa informs me and I quote "they threw it away". WHAT!! The hotel manager was great and said he would dig threw the trash. No need I cancelled it. So guests beware. DO THEY THROW ALL LEFT ITEMS AWAY??? Is this IHG policy? What if that was my ID. I wouldnt get on the plane. What if I was someone who only had one credit card. Beyond excusable behavior.
MoreWhere to begin. I will start with the positive... I loved the shower. The front desk staff was friendly. A co-worker and I stayed here for a recent conference, we had separate rooms. I checked into mine. The key reader was broken. They had a few ideas on how to fix it but would take them some time to figure it out. My coworker checked into his room. 15 minutes into checking in, the hotel engineer let himself into the room, using his master key, to change the cable box; no-knock, no announcement. My coworker happened to be changing at the time into his gym clothes. At that particular moment, he was n@ked. They let me keep my luggage in the room so I could check in to my event. When I would return, they would have a new key for me. My coworker and I left to join our conference event. Upon our return, I was informed I needed to change rooms, the key reader was officially broken. The front desk personnel asked my coworker if he was staying at the hotel too. The engineer, who walked in on him, said "yes, hes in room #3xx." This was both embarrassing and hilarious because we knew how he knew that! I got my new room. There were two elevators. One was broken the whole time, with no out-of-order signage or attempt to get it repaired. Staff members used the one operational lobby elevator, along with the hotel guests, to haul their laundry bins and other work equipment around. Most hotels Ive been to or worked at for that matter had a service elevator specifically for staff use only. The bed was not comfortable. and I made sure that every time I was in my room, I latched all the locks so a master key wouldnt let themselves into the room, again (funny, not funny). But, like I said, the shower was amazing. My coworker described it as being water-boarded. But, I didnt mind. I called for room service as the menu said $10 minimum purchase. I ordered a cappuccino and cheesecake for dessert. The waiter said no, we cant do that. Thats not a big enough order for us to deliver. I said well it meets the minimum requirement. He said we are too busy down here to do your order. I believe they were busy, so I just said ok, never mind. No worries and went to get my sweet fix elsewhere. My coworker used the gym which, by the picture online, looks great. Well, that picture is a deep fake. The gym is in a tent-like structure. It is basically outside, so everyone that does into the alleyway to smoke blows right into the space. It was dark and dingy, and had caution tape around one of the treadmills. The 2nd treadmill "worked" but the speed wouldnt adjust. The 3rd treadmill worked properly. The stationary bike made a loud squealing noise, likely due to the exposure to sand, salt, water, and other outdoor elements. The workout bench and barbells were rusty. There was a 1-inch layer of dust everywhere.
MoreHad a very positive experience at this hotel. Matthew at the front desk was extremely welcoming and made great efforts to ensure a better than just good or average stay for us. Other front desk staff was also cheerful and easy to interact with. We will definitely come back. Only did 4 stars due to some upkeep needed on the penthouse roof which was a bit run down. However, the customer service at this hotel was excellent. The food at the restaurant was good as well.
