Crow Peak Trailhead - Hiking area in Lead, United States
Great hike. Strenuous without being difficult. Amazing views at the top.
The views from the top were great and at many points along the way. I thought the climb was challenging until a runner sped past. The trail surface was compacted dirt in the lower elevations, but there were sections covered with 2 to 6 inch rocks near the top. The trail was easy to follow.
Awesome hike bring your dog and waterI would recommend starting early to miss some of the sun and heat.Good spot with partial shade at the top for lunch or hydrationPlan on 2 hours if your in good shape3 if you need to take breaks.
Great way to spend a morning. Close to town but a world away.
Great trail ! Not too crowded
Fun! Crazy weather for late May! Sleet. Snow. Blue skies. Mud. Nice progression up to the peak with some steeper switchbacks near the top. A couple downed trees on the trail, but easy over.
If youre looking for somewhere relatively off the beaten path, but not too remote, this is the hike for you! Its a relatively easy hike and the trail is easy to follow. The trees that other reviewers mention have since been cleared off the trail. Once you peak the mountain, you are rewarded with one of the best views in the entire Black Hills.
Took my 4 children up in about 1 hour and 45 minutes (3.5 hours round trip). Nicely defined trail with excellent views along the way and an amazing view from the top!
Hike of the locals. Medium difficulty. Bring 2 quarts of water and snacks. Stunning views. 2 hours up, 1 and 1/2 hours down.
Beautiful but challenging, worth the hike
We enjoyed the strenuous hike very much. Beautiful scenery all the way, but especially at the peak. Unfortunately at several spots there were trees down over/across the trail that you have to climb over or under.
Great trail, well maintained. Only a few down trees to climb over and under during the hike. The trailhead info board itself could use a good update due to weather and time but the trail and hike and the summit sign are in great condition.
Great trail!
Overgrown with weeds, but an overall nice medium length hike.
Must see. Awesome hike.
Medium difficulty. Can be muddy part of the way. Beautiful outlook after about 75 minutes of hiking, but greater the farther you go.Ps. : The road to the trailhead is about 4 miles of dirt road.
A MUST SEE! Absolutely beautiful, it will not disappoint you!! 3.2 miles one way to the top..not too difficult. Just GORGEOUS!
Definitely not the Rockies but it was a beautiful hike that I would classify as easy to moderate. A bit more secluded and private if you wish to avoid crowds
If you have a fear of heights, weak ankles or knees..... this is NOT the hike for you.....steep narrow rocky trail..... the higher up you go, the harder this trail gets.....NOT safe for young hikers....AMAZING PANORAMIC VIEWS AT TOP👍😃❣️
It is a moderately difficult trail, but it is gradual with its incline and very worth the views! Pets welcome too!
Nice simple trail, trail ratings are very opinionated, I will call it moderate to easy, no technical climbing but a nice enjoyable climb. The summit wasnt what I had hoped but its the Black Hills not the Rockies. Its a great trail for exercise and a nice walk I would recommend although there are other trails I think have better views, also not the worst view, just enjoy you accomplished a summit
Great hike beautiful in September with all the leaves changing color. The weather was perfect would not consider doing hike when its 90 degrees or hotter.
Definitely not a place for anyone to go ever. Worst most strenuous hike. Stay away if you know whats good for you.
Great trail and views. Take water, 2-3 hours plus depending on fitness level...
Would not recommend doing this hike if the high temperature is above 80.
Fantastic hike near Spearfish. Consistent altitude gain on an easy to navigate trail. Very nice unobstructed views at the top. A satisfying climb. Start before noon to have some shade.
Very good hike. Great views. Well worth the work.Took us 4 hours total up and down.Im 50, overweight, not in good shape so it was difficult. But the dog was the weakest link, I was 2nd. It was mid 80s and sunny. We should have brought more water (1 quart each would have been adequate). And the little stream halfway saved the dog.Trail is well marked. Fairly gradual, but steady slope the whole way.I
This is a great option for a relatively quick hike. The view from the top is outstanding!
Best trail around Spearfish!
Love this hike with a beautiful view
Brace yourself, this is not for the out of shape. Its atleast 2 hours up and 2 hours down. Bring water, snacks, and consider the weather
Absolutely love this hike. Nice easy to follow trail and beautiful views. Nice way to relax on an afternoon stroll!!!!
Difficult hike but worth the climb. Bring water.
A great hike if youre looking for something moderately strenuous, especially if you have an energetic dog. If you hike pretty quickly and are in good shape you will make it up in an hour and a half. The trail is mostly shaded so it doesnt get too hot and it does not have any difficult footing. There is one tiny trickle of a stream along the way (pictures herewhich my dog loved on the hot summer day we were there. Bring a snack because you will be hungry by the time you reach the top. And dont forget water!
Great hike!
Beautiful Day For A Hike!!
A hike worth the views. Hard up easy down.
Great trail. Total 7 miles hike and we did it in 3 hrs.
Beautiful. Best hiking in spearfish.
Great hike. The peak is something like 5700 ft and its a 3.5 mile hike one way.
Great hike, a little difficult toward the top but well worth it.
