Crocodile Creek - Tourist attraction in Durban, South Africa
The guide was polite and friendly. The tour was very formative. A good time with the kids.
The guide was amazing, very informative and engaging. An absolute star. The facility itself presents very unkempt, if you are to along unguided it just looks untidy, the restaurant looks shabby and honestly not a place I would want to sit down and dine regardless of the experience on offer.
Owner/host is full of energy and friendly and educational. Route to the place is bad, food is expensive.
Great visit. Roads are slightly bad, but worth it. There are a couple of real monsters living there.
This place was amazing, had a "real" experience 1st hand!! Was the most informative crocodile and reptile experience I ever had. Shaun was the South African Steve Irwin! We visited the croc farm with our 120 school kids on a tour and the reception was amazing. Interesting shows as well as brilliant food.Would recommend this place to any school planning a tour to KZN!
Definitely worth while. Tour guides clothes were torn and stained with blood, because he got bitten during previous tour...
This is not a family friendly place. firstly you drive through a squatter camp to get there and as you enter you will see a very neglected building and entrance. I was shocked at the condition of the enclosures as they were very dirty and the animals seem neglected and abused. the guy that did the tour kicked the baby alligator in the face a few times to make it angry and smacked it with sticks consistently. they do not look after the animals like a sanctuary would, rather it is a farm for skin and meat. 100% not recommended.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and all the animals! However...Tourists were robbed on the road leaving (just at the bridge over the N2). Advise caution.
Great place to check out massive crocodiles . Really a fun experience and the guide it so cool and informative. Loving their oils really good for the skin , also affordable
The road to get to crocodile creek is poorly maintained and my family and I felt very unsafe near the destination (quite sure that we spotted some suspicious activity). We can’t rate the place itself because we turned around in the car when we saw something fishy on the isolated dirt path surrounded by the bush a few hundred meters from crocodile creek.
Absolutely wonderfulThe guide (Seanwas great and very passionate about his work with the cross...the animals were fascinating and it was a wonderful visit. Thank you, we will definitely be visiting again
Great place needs more investment from Govt to make this super amazing
Really interesting & terrifying at the same time. Really worth while going & supporting them.
What a wonderful experience. The drive in was a little rough but once there it was really enjoyable. Thanks to Shawn who provided an informative and fun experience. Was great seeing all the crocodiles and learning about them as well.
Very nice, informative outing for families and anyone who wants to learn a little more about crocodiles. You get to hold and touch an alligator if you want to. Just wish the roads to get here were better.
You need a SUV to come there; even though its just next the highway, there is no direct route. Itinerary is not updated on website. They either dont answer phone or the person that answer does not understand English. Due to road closure it is almost impossible to come from the North. Not sure if they are willing to get visitors back.
Great to see everybody working so hard to make sure all the animals are okay after the floods. Peter Watson and his team are working non-stop to repair the damage. If you are able to try and get there to support them as it is still very much open.
The gent who did the show has a lot of passion for his work and the animalsIt was fun, enjoyed it - show was interesting and the audience, no matter your age, were engagedSome pathways are steep and not wheelchair friendly, not recommended for the elderlyThe road there isnt quite the best, we drove a sedan, but would recommend SUVAlternatively, drive slowly
An interesting and informative place. Guides are helpful and friendly. Good food area as well. Restrooms could be improved. 👍
It was a wonderful experience, our guide was very polite, patient and knowledgeable. Our guides passion for all the animals and their well-being was lovely to see (hes like a South African Steve Irwin), I am genuinely interested in the conservation of these animals after visiting. The crocodiles were in good condition, pathways and restaurant very neat and clean.Roads are bumpy but its completely worth it, I would 100% recommend for a beautiful day out.
Highly recomended. Tour Guide Shaun was very informative and friendly. All round good experience.
Wonderful day out, Staff and Owner really went put in all efforts to make visitors feel welcome. The tour was amazing and very informative. Our whole family went, all ages (5yrs to 55yrsand every single one ENJOYED!! Holding the baby crocs and a snake was such an experience. Well worth the drive!
We googled this place, checked prices, the when we came there after bumpy ride, the prices arent the same as it showed, they need to change it.i think for the price they should do more entertainment or more to see.I would say they must drop price if they cant improve a bit.But we did enjoy the info that was given about crocodiles.
We came here 10 years ago when my kids were little - loved it then, loved it now, with the older kids who are now all growed up and the younger ones who are enjoying it for the first time.Excellent tour, so informative and animated, with a passion for the crocs you can sense from the presenter.Clean facilities, with an eatery, cafe and play area.It would have been 5 stars, but the dense, beautiful, story book forest we wandered through 10yrs ago, has been closed... We really looked forward to that!
It was really a great experience. You learn alot about crocodiles
Very nice crocodile tourist attraction place, they have over 500 croc there and ranging from new borns to very old/big ones. You get a full tour of the place, with section for kids to play. The guide even gives you chance to hold a crocodile. We missed to see them feed the crocs... will definately come back
Unfortunately, the road to Crocodile Creek, horrible!!! But not their fault, but KZN Roard Maint! Place is bit neglected, but animals are in good condition!
Awesome day with a fantastic croc guide (Sean), your stereotypical croc hunter with missing fingers and a few great stories. Every now and then you get a guide that has pure experience, really knowing his Crocs down to the finest details. Kids and adults alike will both enjoy these fascinating animals and the guide just seals the deal for a great day out for the family.
Educational tour for kids and family.Getting there: About 4-5 km of serious gravel, any car can manage but SUV recommended. On arrival: very steep entrance and exit. Not for disabled personsEntrance fee : about R350 for family of 4Walk on your on or join the tourSean is very informative and experienced. He answers all questions even silly ones. Gets very close to large crocs, irritates them to get response.NB: He needs to remember to put on a face mask, he teaches a lot but must put on Face maskAllowed us to carry mid sized crocsAnd small snakes.Other animals: rabbits, storcks, monkeys, mamba, millions of crocksThey have a small restaurant and kids play area.
Excellent experience and excellent space for the kids to learn about animals and leave with massive experience.
I took my family there for the first time, and it was such a wonderful experience. They guide who took us around is clearly excited about his job, and he spoke with passion and a wonderful sense of knowledge, which only added to our wonderful experience. The road to Crocodile Creek is unfortunately not great, but this is not any fault of the facility but because of poor maintenance from the municipality. That being said, you dont need a 4x4 to get there, only a little patience and care.I highly recommend taking your family there for a great outing, and supporting this fantastic establishment.
Lovely place. Very informative and entertaining guide. Viewed crocodiles, snakes, and turtles.
I went to crocodile creek on the weekend with friends and they loved it Shaun the park guide takes you on a very informative tour and tells you things about Crocodiles that you would never know. His interactions with the crocodiles is scary and you sometimes think he’s going to get eaten 😳. I have been going there for a few years and they have made some new improvements to the part. There are lots of other things to see like snakes rabbits banded mongoose alligators. The road on the way there is a bit rough so make sure your not in a sports car 😀
Wonderful crock experience with a lot of education and a great experience. Really interesting oppertunity to get to know these ancient creatures better.
Such a wonderful family outing! Kids really enjoyed learning about these amazing reptiles and got some hands on experience :)
Lovely place to learn about crocodiles, our instructor was informative and also has stories that will make you laugh and think all at the same time. Hes a crocodile encyclopedia
The place is a mission to reach, travelling either through a squatter camp or a longer road filled with pot holes or mud.The restaurant wasnt open, the gift shop hardly stocked. The crocodiles were way too many for their enclosures and their water was dirty and smelly. The place is a little run down and doesnt offer much besides crocodiles.
This experience was very disapointing. The road to get there is rough and you at times wonder if the place even exist. Tje place is dull and basicly just lots of crocs in areas, like a crock farm, where the crocs is farmed for meat and skin. I did not enjoy this outing at all. There is also no other animals.
Crocodile Creek was absolutely amazing, the guide was so informative and his passion and love for the animals showed. He gave a personal experience with the animals, with so many stories of the individual animals and their experiences. It is so worthwhile for all ages keeps you interested the whole time, we spent several hours there with the demonstrations and feeding from baby Crocs that you can hold to Big Hannibal who is gigantic.
Best close-up experience with the crocodile and I arrive just in time for the feeding. I enjoy the tour guide...I just wished the Municipality invested in that business cause the place could use with some financial help and even the road going to crocodile creek cause if its not the potholes its the dumpy gravel group. KZN should do better since its a "tourist destination"... I enjoyed the experience of trying something new like their cocrodile meat burger.
Crocodile expert was very informative during his talk and showed us really interesting things about crocodiles. We learnt how to make a crocodile sleep if every encounter in a dangerous situation. There was a wide variety of crocodiles and other reptiles. However some of the pens that they were in werent labeled so we didnt know what type of crocodiles they were. The shop was quite dirty and unpleasant to look at. The toilets were also dirty and a bit run down. However, its a great experience especially if you are going with children.
Crocodiles galore. Great for the family and kids. Just outside of Tongaat. Guided tours by knowledgeable tour guide. Safe. Great for photography sure would love to come back.
The guide was 100% on top of informative and entertaining interaction. All tourists in our group was blown away. Facilities neat and all animal cages clean
Shaun was amazing !!!! He was great with the kids, to show animals and answer all our questions and make the tour very memorable ! I recommend with out hesitation !!!!! Thank you.
Good experience with the kids, think it would be even better in the summer months when the crocs are being fed. Expect some roadworks on the way there, nothing too hectic but dont drive there in your porsche 911..
Crocodile Creek what an amazing experiance the bumpy ride was worth it ... the tour guide was spectacular really brave and explained every detail ... even got to hold the croc that was the best !!!
Family ran crocodile farm. Very informative and our 5 year old loved it.However, unless your child is well behaved or able to sit in a push chair, it could be very unsafe. The place is under construction at the moment with lots of open edges where falls could very easily happen.Shaun the guide was brilliant. Very informative and interesting and clearly has a passion for what he does and for the farm.100% go but not if you are unsteady on your feet or your child is prone to running off.
The best place to relax with the family and enjoy nature. The staff is super friendly and the guide is very knowledgeable and informative. They have a variety of different species of snakes, crocodiles, caymans, alligators and turtles. The place operates in tours which start as follows:10:3011:3012:3014:30 and the last one is at 15:30. The whole facility closes at 16:30. The prices are also as follows:Adults: R95Children 0 - 4 years: R0 - FreeChildres 4 - 13 Years: R60Children 13 - 17 years: R75They also feature a lot of locally produced clothes, some made from crocodile skin so be sure to brink your wallets. The only negative about the place is the road you have to use to get to the creek.Bring your wet suits because you are bound to get wet😉
Awesome experience and at an affordable rate, the guided tour of the farm absolutely 100% worth it really down to earth guides although super upclose and crasy with the Crocs.Amazing experience with a decent dose of facts and on a sunny dsy seeing the Crocs in action.... definately a tour Ive done more then once and amazed EVERY SINGLE TIME... and Id definately go again without a doubt...
An amazing experience for people of all ages. Crocodile Creek boasts a wide range of reptiles of all different shapes and sizes, from beautiful Black Mambas and Burmese Pythons to enormous Alligators and Crocodiles. The tour is captivating and the staff if delightful. You are also provided the chance to handle certain animals like baby crocodiles and maybe a snake or two if your lucky, and all for a ridiculously affordable price. A destination worth visiting more than a few times.
