Great location. Friendly housekeepers. Rustic old comfort feel.

This place is awesome. Right on the beach, great value for what you’re paying. Customer service is awesome and they even have security overnight which made me feel very secure. My 4runner is loaded down with gear and my husband was joining us the following night, so when I heard Tanner would be patrolling the premises while everybody slept I was so relieved. Unfortunately, on our second day we got word that our home was about to burn down in a wildfire so we had to pack immediately and cut our trip short to go save our dog and what important items we could. The staff was very understanding and helped us get out of there quick. We will absolutely be returning. What little time we had there was incredible. Thank you all so much!

We stayed 3 nights in #15 and it was pretty amazing - I was worried with the beach access point just outside our door that it would be noisy but it was not. I would have rated higher had the room been a bit more clean. Beds were firm and no bedspread but we brought extra blankets. The walls are quite dirty and need some attention as well as the carpets. Overall it was good and you can’t beat walking right out your door onto the beach

Warning: Staying here on July 4th was like living next to a military drill site. Folks were launching Fireworks on the beach all night and that was very very LOUD. You can feel ground shaking while sitting in the room.The room itself was okay. Location was perfect though. It must be beautiful if it were not July 4th.

Great location, but rooms are very old and smell old and bugged my allergies, they do not have fridge or microwave, and they have no discounts at all. Cost me $297 for two nights in September for queen room in garden section.

If there were 10 stars this place would be a 10+! I wanted peace and quiet and access to the beach. I found all that and then some! Stayed a week, if work wasn’t calling I’d stay longer! Beach access is right outside your door! There’s nobody on the beach! So many treasures I have found, it’s like Heaven on earth! The desk people are crazy nice and the housekeeping staff go above and beyond. Towels are very nice and thick. No pets allowed. No fridge or microwave in rooms, but there is a microwave, decent size, that has 24 hour access. There is an ice machine too. Free breakfast of oatmeal and fruit, perfect for a long, long walk on the beach! You can collect the driftwood and have fires on the beach south of hotel! No garbage on the beach at all. Town is 1.5 miles to the north and has everything you could want. There is a Chevron on the south end of town that has its own kitchen and has incredible food. Food? Clam chowder is incredible anywhere you go! What a wonderful experience! I’m already booked for next year, twice as long!

My favorite place to stay in Crescent City. You can literally walk out the back door and be on south beach. I live here but rent rooms occasionally and I love it!

Such a nice relaxed beach getaway. Simple accommodation but cozy, with doors opening onto the beach and a covered porch to sit and look at the waves. Friendly & helpful customer service always.

Seems like a hidden gem! Small room but able to sleep 4 ppl. Got what you need. And what you dont have you dont miss as your back patio door opens up to the beach. It was very peaceful and lovely to listen to the waves while falling asleep. Also not a bad price for the location. Lots of cute local eatery near with great service and food! The water and beach was a bit cold...but they allowed firepit on the beach , which you build yourself. 50 degrees and wind is doable for folks from Nebraska. 😃 Hope to be back sometime in my lifetime! Thanks for the great stay!

Beautiful! Not the fanciest place Ive stayed. However, you cant beat that price for that view. I wouldnt change a thing.

Clean rooms, bedding & bathroom. Excellent location. No microwave or fridge in room. Breakfast bar 7am-9am. A bit noisy when you have neighboring guest in rooms. Ran out of parking when rooms are fully booked.

The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The location is unbeatable. Weve been staying there for 20 plus years when we come out to visit family.

The view is AMAZING!!! The rooms smelt wonderful and clean!!! The room had no pet smell and no smoking smell:):):)Customer service was stellar!!!!This is now our new get away!!!

The location is absolutely perfect! Right on the beach and close to everything. Great views of the waves sunrise/sunset in the comfort of your own room. Love that they offer beach chairs on the patio. The room was cozy and comfortable. Great hospitality from the staff/employees. Highly recommend! Will definitely be coming back!

Cozy little place with an extraordinary view. The rooms were spectacularly clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable, the linens were plush, and towels were new and fluffy. The bathroom was sparkling clean with bright lighting. The deck had chairs to enjoy breathtaking views of sunrise with coffee (Keurig in room!and sunsets. Loved the natural white sound of the ocean waves at night. I asked for an EXTRA blanket since my stay was during the cooler weather and it made all the difference in making my stay homey. The staff was very kind and polite, went over and beyond to make my stay comfortable.I wish I could live here. I definitely will be coming back here. Highly, highly recommend it!!Oh and did I mention it’s a great place to stay for hikes as it’s 5 minutes from the hiking hotspot, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park!

Overall, rooms werent that bad. The rooms are walking distance to the beach. There was no microwave or fridge you have to pay extra and the beds arent very warm. They have very thin sheets and only 2 pillows (we had to ask for more). Other than that the rooms were nice and enjoyable for the most part.

The beach is literally a few steps outside of your room! Weve come here a couple times now and its amazing to just walk onto the beach and walk back into our room when baby needs a break. No loading and unloading stuff in the car. There are chairs on the deck to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds. Most people are quiet and respectful, but the walls are paper thin so it sounded like someone was coughing in my ear. Also, they usually have hot chocolate and oatmeal, but cant right now because of some guideline. We ended up buying a big box of Swiss Miss at Walmart which isnt far away. The rooms dont have microwaves or fridges, but there is a microwave room that your room key can open... which my husband pointed out that means any key can open any room, so lock your deadbolt.

Pit bulls being allowed to stay in rooms as "therapy dogs" but my friends 15 pound tiny dog couldnt wait on the porch while her son used my bathroom??? What is this nonsense. Rooms are tiny, no fridge or microwave. The lobby kitchen area with the fridge and microwave were locked for 75% of the day. No sand allowed in the rooms, sink or shower or there will be a $150 cleaning fee. How do they propose no sand when they are literally located on the beach? The only thing this motel has going for it is the location, other than that the staff were rude and kept telling people they couldnt be in front of the motel on the beach, the motel doesnt own the beach. Seriously awful staff they made us move our entire group of two families and kiddos away from "their" beach area, we were not blocking their pathways nor bothering any of their guests. Checking out the staff would not give me a final bill but said it would be sent at a later date, how does that work out??? Yeah I am never going there again :(

We absolutely loved our stay here! Such a cozy hotel, directly on the beach. You are literally few feet away from the beach access. This is the only hotel Ive ever been to that advertises for being directly on the beach and actually lives up to that. Absolutely loved waking up to the gorgeous view every morning and watching the sunset in the evening.The rooms are very clean with everything available you may need during your stay. On top of that, the staff are super friendly. There is night security thats actively walking around, which was very assuring. You can tell its a well maintained place. Look no further, youve found your place when staying in Crescent City!

This hotel is right on the beach! Been here plenty of times and love it every time I go. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are always clean. ONLY thing that I can complain about are the beds. They definitely need upgraded because they suck lol but I love this place!

The hotel is a bit dated, but the view is outstanding, the rooms were clean, the towels fluffy and the sheets were not scratchy. You might think it is dirty because it needs some updating, but I went over it with a white cloth and it was really clean.

Checked in for three days on Thanksgiving day with my Wife and 3 year old daughter for a beach front room. After getting keys I went to room #3 and it smelled strongly of urine.After going back to front desk and voicing my concern calmly, I was still charged . Tried to contact management for a refund when we got home (due to the unsanitary conditionsand I could not get a # or any contact to help. Ended up at the Best western Plus. Very nice and accommodating. Overall only bad part of our thanksgiving family trip was this motel. Also, no heater, no fridge, no microwave . I am not one to leave a bad review and never have … come on guys . At least offer another room.

Very nice hotel. Had a room that looked out at the ocean. When the rain hit we could hear it the window at night. One evening it hailed and was fun to watch. The room was very clean. Call a head to know what amenities are available. Also, remember to remove all sand off of yourself before entering your room as instructed, because I believe that is how they keep the rooms so clean. Only walked the beach once and then got in car to travel and then walked the sand off in the woods. They have large kelp that washes up on shore. Also, high tide I think sometimes reaches their succulent buffer swale, because 1 of the stepping stones got covered with sand and the kelp cover the 3rd or 4th step down to the beach.P.S. Bring multi-head extension cords, because they have limited outlets.

Nice authentic beach front motel. Rooms are compact and all amenities provided like coffee, hair dryer, iron, etc. You can hear the surf with your window open. But unfortunately you also hear the highway which on this stretch is on the acceleration phase away from town. Costs 2 stars because sleep wasnt great with this.

I drove 3 hours to get to this place! They wanted to charge me $425 for 3 nights. The place looks like a broke down trailer park… no fridge or microwave. I’m so disappointed. Was gonna stay for 3 days, but after seeing the room, decided to only stay one night. Don’t book with these people!!!

I absolutely love this motel. Its not fancy but its right on the beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The best part is you walk out your door and youre on the beach. The price is great especially considering the prices for other motels that are not on the beach. The people who work there are great too. I highly recommend this motel.

Absolutely amazing stay. The motel is right on the highway but all we could hear was the beautiful ocean waves. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bathroom looked like with a bright new appliances. I would love to stay here every time I visit Crescent City from now on.

The pandemic has changed the motel! Ocean is still just outside your sliding glass door, awesome. But, overcharging for rooms, out of coffee-even though they have coffee makers an the like, in your room! Also the bedside clock was gone, management said it was getting fixed??? If you stay more than one day, no housekeeping for your room!! But the housekeeping crew were awesome and went above and beyond!!

This place sits on the beach, you can come out your sliding door and be on the beach and sit on the deck, totally ten stars for the beach. The motel itself is old and outdated but its extremely clean and the staff is friendly. If you like being on the beach and are ok with a rustic hotel this is your place, if you like fancy, this aint it. Ill be back again.

I have stayed at this motel for many years and been very satisfied until this year. The room was not very clean and there was no hot water to shower in. We were there for 3 nights and tried showering at different times of day and never had even lukewarm water. The office was nowhere to be found. The staff did supply us with clean towels after we hunted them down. Very sad that this wonderful motel has become so run down. The location can’t be beat, but unless the new owners step it up I will not stay here again.

The location is the only good thing about this. My room barely had lukewarm water to bath in. Being cold on the beach to be “welcomed” by tap “warm” bath was not optimal.The rooms are overpriced, management and front desk are no where to be seen, except at 4pm check in. You have to be out by 11 am, again still no management you have to leave your key in the room to “check out”. No microwave or fridge in rooms, you have to use a shared one that they lock up and some unknown time. And, it’s locked in the morning until they wake up and unlock the door for you. The quality was no where close to asking for nearly $200 a night. I don’t like to write negative reviews, but I wanted to save someone the hassle. Don’t bother here.

Must be Under New Management or ownership . Ive been coming up here for 15 years. Quality & attitude of really changed.30 Oceanfront rooms +/-.29 chairs, some with cracked backs, with 2 people plus per room. We asked for 32 chairs and they said just take one from a front of another room.

Amazing location with amazing views! It is right on the beach, the rooms are very comfortable and clean. The property is very clean, well kept, and safe. The staff is very kind and helpful. Everything was perfect! Overall, the perfect place for a nice relaxing getaway, I will definitely recommend it to my friends and family and be back for another amazing trip!

Nice location. Room stuffy. They could use a ceiling fan. We Didnt have the room facing the ocean so I found it expensive for what we had. Coffee maker was not working. They had some goodies in the lobby for breakfast. Rather expensive. Bed was comfortable. Easy access to beach for early walk.

The most absolutely perfect room. The view was spectacular and we had a great nights sleep. I would highly recommend this motel. Me and my family do a yearly vacation to the California coast and throughout the years weve been to many hotels this one tops the cake. Highly impressed

Shan who calls himself the owner and manager of the motel was very rude and unprofessional right away, when he learned about our service dog who was accompanying my family and me for my stay. Once We moved past that uncomfortable situation and arrived at the room, we found it to have no bedspreads on the bed, very few and very small pillows, outdated and uncomfortable beds, torn screens on windows and sliding glass doors, no coffee for the morning. Would have let it slide had the rooms not cost $192/night. Would maybe pay $90 for this dump as the location is key. Still, a waste of a motel space on the beach. Someone else buy it and make it cool!

On our trip to visit the Redwoods, we stayed several days here. This place not only had a fantastic view and nice rooms, but by far the easiest beach access in town. If you want to leave your room and be on the beach in an instant, this is as good as it gets in Crescent City. Ill definitely be staying here again!

Friendly helpful staff, moderate prices, beautiful area, spotless room, this place has it all! Stayed here with the entire family for four days or so and the only issue we had is some of the doors were warped and wouldn’t shut properly, but it’s on the beach so 🤷‍♀️ That’s not anyone’s fault, it’s expected.Ten of ten would definitely stay again.

They are very invasive when it comes to someone coming to pick you up for dinner. They were VERY rude about no guests even though our " guests" NEVER came inside. You have to sign paperwork to cover sand damage to the drains. Its right on the beach, there is GOING to be sand. I do not see charging a guest $150.00 for sand in the tub drain AND they use a scope to check for sand after you check out! There are cleaner more updated places to stay for a lot less money and thats what we will do from now on!

Love the beach and easy access and thats why I keep coming back but, I have a couple suggestions.1. Upon arrival, I asked about the coffee in the room. He said it was just kcups. I said, oh too bad, I brought my own ground coffee to make my own so I guess that wont work. He didnt offer me any pods and it says on the wall $1 for extra pods so I assumed there were at least 1 or 2 in the room. When I got in the room later, I noticed there were no pods. The office was closed. I went in the morning to get a pod after finding out that my friends, staying there also, had been offered and given pods upon their arrival, right before me. But the office was closed. The microwave room was closed, even though it was past time for it to be open. So that was disappointing and although it seems like its a little deal, I am dependent on an am cup or I get a killer headache. So I had to leave and go buy coffee and a refillable kcup.2. I had 2 beds in my room and my mom had 1. I laid on all 3 and they were varying degrees of incredibly uncomfortable. Honestly. Lumpy and horrible.3. Clean the brown smear of...poop? I dont know, whatever it is, on the ceiling above the bed by the window in my room. Its really gross.4. It is past time for you to get a mini fridge in the rooms. Ive been staying here for years, and I get that you arent updating because you dont need to, you fill the rooms anyway, but Im sure I speak for others also when I say that I would gladly pay more for a more user friendly room. To have to go buy a full meal from a restaurant and then throw half of it away because I cant save it for later, really sucks.5. The dead bolt does not work on my door. And even if it did, it doesnt go far enough into the door frame to do any good anyway.

Stayed here with my girlfriend for a quick getaway. Rooms are decent but very small. Youre paying for the view and thats it. It is definitely time for the owners to face the hard facts that its time to remodel asap! Get rid of all carpeting, add fridges and microwaves and provide a lot more security lights for the parking lots! I will stay here again but improvements is definitely going to have to happen. Really nice location, we loved being RIGHT next to the beach. The water gets really close during high tide. The walls are paper thin and uninsulated, so youll be hearing the neighbors, even if they arent loud. They are pretty tripped out about bonfires or BBQs anywhere visible from the motel, but thats understandable with the fires weve been having the last few years. A fun experience, but definitely no frills.

We stayed here for two nights. Our room looked directly out to the beach. Wonderful view. Large veranda to enjoy the ocean/beach view from and there is direct beach access. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. It was quiet too. The room lacked a couple amenities found at chain establishments (mini fridge and microwavebut it had a single serve pod coffee maker. And a microwave was available for use next to the lobby. We enjoyed our stay and will return

Amazing place! Rooms are dated, so if youre looking for the Hilton, just keep driving. If youre looking for cute and friendly, this is the place for you! Beach is literally at your doorstep. Staff is amazing! Convenience of the location cant be beat! Only two real issues we had... walls are paper thin, and the deck surrounding the building conducts sounds from every footfall straight into the room. Avoid rooms next to the breezeways!

This is a popular place with several friends of mine. Id heard how marvelous and low cost it was for years. We stayed here for 2 days and enjoyed the views, the wide beach right outside the door and the brilliant sunsets. I enjoyed the foghorn. Its a low-pitched one and very pleasant. The room was tiny, with barely any room to turn around in. And just outside was a busy boardwalk with people and kids running back and forth. I felt a bit claustrophobic. Otherwise, it was nice, but pricey for the small room. You pay for having a gorgeous beach right out your door.
