901 Veterans Memorial Pkwy, St Charles, MO 63303, United States, Saint Charles
Homey chain restaurant serving American comfort food, with an on-site general store.
Loved my server Tony, food was good, wouldve given them another star but the chicken n muffins were a little dry but they went down. Prices great!
We all know and love Cracker Barrel favorites but the new addition of Fried Pickles are wonderful. The price is inexpensive but wish more chips were included to be able to share. Excellent (maybehomemade ranch for filling.
Havent been to a cracker barrel in several years. Decided to meet a friend here. Big mistake. Waitress was rather annoyed we came. Was impatient, & rude. Got our food. My chicken fried steak was a crusty rock warmed up. I ate my sides. Brought home my biscuit & steak to see if I could make it edible. Not really. The biscuit was more like hard tack (rock hard). Ended up pitching all of it. Do NOT like the new menu. Definitely do not like the addedcalcoholic options. Lost my business. Wont go anymore.
Food was good, but them like many other restaurants have eliminated many of our favorites. Not sure how soon we will be back. If you are good with a streamlined menu, then keep going. Not so much for us.
Food was delicious, service excellent and loved being able to shop around while waiting for table availability.
Tried the Southern Fried Chicken for the first time. It was pretty bad. Way way overdone, almost burnt. Was extremely disappointed. Server was very nice. Wait time acceptable. Food, not so much.
As when I was a kid its fun to walk around the store oh and ah at all the cool little gizzmos, but I should have remembered, always get the breakfast lol no matter what time of day! I got the country fried chicken, it was dry and grease was all over the plate, a puddle of grease had even formed under the chicken. My moms pancakes were much better than any food on my plate.
Our server was an older gentleman who was absolutely awesome!! He told he was in the AF 46 years ago. I wish I could remember his name to publicly thank him for his service to America. The food was really good as well!! Only thing I would say wasn’t up to par was the floor, it was a little sticky which is a pet peeve of mine.
Surprisingly the food was fantastic.I had the Cod fish with 4 big pieces of fish that was delicious. And wife had the strawberry cheesecake pancakes that looked delicious
Wow, never have I had such a horrible meal from this company. I included pics.I ordered the Roast Beef, 33 slices with fried okra, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, greens and carrots.I received 2 slices of cold, dry roast beef. In fact the entire meal was cold. I was actually able to lift my mashed potatoes straight off of the plate in one clump. It was very, very, bland.Your best bet is to completely bypass this location and stop somewhere else.
The food was delicious. There was some snafu in the kitchen as it took a long time to get our order but food was great!
My grandkids love the pancakes there. Theyve cut way back on their choices. But theyre always very friendly and very accommodating. In the shop out front is a lot of fun.
It’s super annoying when places offer and setup curbside service just for you to have to go in anyway! Terrible service!!!!!!! Claimed the order would be ready at 12:28 yet I’m sitting here 15 min later waiting for three kids meals! I was hoping to come back for dinner since I would be in the area ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! If the service is this way before I even get in the restaurant I think I’ll pass. Once I went in to get my food looks like everything was just thrown in the bag.
You can no longer order orange cream soda at the table. We didnt get our silverware until after food was served and the mens bathroom was filthy. Not just an "unfortunate timing" type of filthy, but a clear "ongoing filthy" level of gross.
First of all no line no wait and the place was pretty packed got seated fast and the young man thats a server to an excellent job being attentive not forgetting anything and did an excellent job waiting on us the new cheesecake pancakes with excellent well be back again
A small wait time. Waiter was friendly and done great. Our food was delicious.
Portions were smaller and the prices were larger. Just dont seem the same since they started serving alcohol. I have nothing against drinking personally, this just dont seem to be the appropriate place. WONT stop us from going there tho...
Jamie was fantastic! Very friendly, funny and considerate. Food was fast and very good. The elderly hostess had a bad attitude and blatantly ignored me after giving our table away… but if it wasn’t for her we would have missed out on Jamie’s section.
Food was a bit cold and we had to ask for napkins because there were no napkins with the silverware. Plus once we got our food the plates were mixed with part of my food on the other persons plate.
We went during Easter Sunday and was seated promptly, and the waitress was nice and friendly. I hadnt been in a while, and the food was still delicious; the pancakes were my favorite. I cant wait to return.
Was just me not busy had to wait 15 just to be seated. Ordered received food 45 mins later COLD. Asked for a to go box to take home tonic and eat. Also asked for a manager. She didnt seem very happy. Felt sorry for the waitress. She did keep coming back to me and apologizing for my wait.
This location has been my go to for many years. Since it first opened honestly. Lately though, dining in is really questionable. The last two times we visited, it was SUPER slow service, an hour wait AFTER we were seated. Food was alright but not great. We waited WAY too long for cold fried fish and hard cornbread muffins. My daughter loves to eat there so thats why we went. I may just stick to shopping at the store but skipping the meal altogether. Since the pandemic, eating out anywhere is so hit or miss. Its a shame. I hope it improves.
Nice breakfast after a small wait on Sunday morning. Had a good rock in one of the rocking chairs outside talking to family and other people waiting to be seated. The food and serviced were great.
We arrived about 9:30 on a Sunday morning and it was very busy but got seated within about 10 minutes. Our server was very pleasant but it seemed she had an awful lot of customers to tend to. My biscuits and gravy were served in a paper lined basket. Just didnt seem it would be feasible to try to eat them that way. I did get a plate when I asked for one. The sausage flavored gravy was ok, at best, and the biscuits were very small. The sausage patties were thin and a little on the tough side and low on flavor. The 4 rating Im giving here is more for the server than the restaurant itself.
Its a nice place the wait was long but worth it. The waiter was killer nice which was great🙏👍. The food tasted amazing and the prices were good. The only downside was the wait for the food lol I must have waited 45mins or more. But it was fairly understandable since the place was extremely packed.Pro:While waiting for a table buy stuff at the store 👍👍Prices were goodFood was great.Con:The wait for the food was long
I deliver for door dash my son is on the spectrum so things can get a little difficult for him. I usually dont do pick ups for cracker barrel because of his sensory issues. Definitely went against my better judgment which I usually dont. When i arrived I called the curbside # no answer. I told my son ok lets do this! From the moment I walk in Ms. Penny was just rude from the get go! I waited a good 15 mins. I asked every 5 minutes maybe if it was ready yet you could see my son clearly having a hard time. At the 10 mins I asked kindly about how much longer. Again instantly Im not sure they have to set it out bag it blah blah Im like ok no big deal. 15 minutes later the manager ( older white womanhas the food I say thank tell her I tried to call the curbside but nobody answered instantly did you pay for your order. Its doorsdash so its paid for I told her. And she replies while thats why nobody answered the phone for curbside. I kinda rolled my eyes because you didnt know door dash was on the phone. Rude bad experience all together Ill never go there again whether Im dashing or taking g my family
The food is generally good at this particular restaurant including the customer service but this time we visited we didnt recieve the corn bread that comes with the meal. Well to remedy the situation they offered us biscuits after the dinner was over, so how does that help ? So at least we got a discount on our dinner but only after we had to ask for one.
I would give 0 stars if I could. Ordered take out at 7pm online. Told it would be ready at 755pm. Showed up at the store and waited for 10 minutes to be told it wasnt ready yet. The guy at the counter told me that its standard for an online order to take 45 minutes. When I told him it had already been an hour he just said yeah and shrugged. Waited another 20 minutes to get my food. Got home and my dessert is missing. Called into the store and asked to speak with a manager. The guy on the line stayed he would transfer me to one and they would get to me when they could. Ive been on hold for 13 minutes now and still waiting. This is ridiculous. What food we did get is decent aside from the fact that my husbands baked potato was swimming in sour cream and his steak is a hockey puck.
I was underwhelmed by my entire experience. We planned to do curbside, but since no one answered the phone, I went in to get our order. When I arrived at the counter, the two employees continued their personal conversation for a couple minutes, a conversation which was not work related from what I heard, before waiting on me. The worker said the meal was just brought out and then pointed to it for me to retrieve. Not sure what the tip I left was for since he couldnt even had me my meal which was closer to him than me. Unfortunately, we were missing an entree from our order which I didnt realize until we arrived home. I called the restaurant and was told wed get a free entree on our next visit, but the person did not take down any of our contact information. He said that he would use the phone number which I am extremely doubtful about. The meal was average at best. Horrible experience.
A bad start but good overall. We entered the store and the first employee we encountered rudely walked right by us without any acknowledgment! Everyone else was pleasant. The food and service was very good.
This place has been going down hill fast. Every time I order a to go order it is messed up. Tonight I found I nice piece of saran wrap between my pork chop and the breading. Last straw. Will never eat at this restaurant again.
I love this restaurant with the little country store inside it! They have the most interesting items there. I was happy to see they had a jar full of fireball jawbreaker and regular jawbreakers. I think they were $6.99 each. I hadnt seen these in a long time. I use to by fireballs (hot cinnamon flavorat Sams years ago but they had stopped selling them. That was my contribution to our preop staff. They have so much stuff that you dont see anywhere else. Theyre food is very good too. My favorite is the chicken and dumplings yum!
This was my first visit to this location in St. Charles. Upon the first greeting the server began to express how short they were in servers, furthermore, the restaurant was not very crowded at all. My friend and I did not have to wait long before we received our breakfast. I ordered the Grandmas Breakfast Meal. It included 3 meats, a scrambled eggs, 2 pancakes, and hash browns or apples. I chose bacon and ham, scrambled eggs, and 2 pancakes 🥞. My bacon 🥓 was very fatty, the ham was dry, however, the scrambled eggs and pancakes were delicious 😋. I may give this particular one more try to redeem themselves before I make a decision to go somewhere else. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I look forward to beginning my day with a hearty meal.
My portion of why this is a one star, is because not the food but the server. This here Jennifer H, not only didn’t greet us with her name(only know this because the receipt), but was lacking customer service. When she got to the table she asked if we were ready to order before she even got our drinks. When we asked for refills on our drinks she said she’ll be with us in a moment, the drinks never came. After a while Jennifer came back and just gave us the receipt and said to pay upfront or pay her. I just feel like she should have more customer experience and smile. Like look less of someone who hates there life and doesn’t want to work.
Wonderful service, hot food and very patient/friendly staff.
The time of day matters! We arrived around 2:30 pm for Breakfast. There was no wait time. Our food was prepared fresh and very tasty. Our server was exceptional. Checked out with no problem.
The parking lot is very big and level. Also close and convenient to the awsome small town of St. Charles that has good street parking and a huge parking lot at "The Boat House / L&C" Museum.
Great food and awesome gift shop, lot of old to see on the walls.
Absolute worst experience. What used to be a family restaurant with children is gone. Our grandson was the only child in the place. We were bombarded with pictures of alcoholic drinks everywhere! The menus are advertisements of alcoholic drinks!! After a very long wait, our server told us the meal we ordered was not available. We were served our sides whilst the rest ate their meal. Our visitors from South Africa were greatly disappointed in the quality of food. Our server was very nice but, sadly, there is a break in quality.A note to the corporate office - you’ve lost the family element that made Cracker Barrel a wonderful place to go. You’ve now become just another restaurant that promotes alcohol. We grieve in that. We’ve lost an American icon to the corporate bad management.*Follow up- I received an email regarding our review. I responded with the information requested. I received no further response from Cracker Barrel.*Follow up- We we’re a group of six people. They sent ONE complimentary dessert coupon TO SHARE. Very generous of them. We won’t be back to Cracker Barrel. That is really a rude way to treat an honest review.
Good food, our server was super nice.
This has to be the most unorganized Cracker barrel Ive ever had the misfortune to live close to!! Half the time the app wont work, which I understand isnt there fault directly but when you try calling them for 30min to order and no one EVER answers the phone its a little ridiculous!! Then we decided to go there and order and low and behold the order went through online without anything or anyone telling us!! Which means had we went home or somewhere else we would have bought food and never gotten it!! And believe me this visit is normal!! Hell they wont even answer the lines for curbside pickup so you end up walking in the store and guess what, 3-4 people behind the counter just talking away and my damn food is on the rack getting colder and they just laugh and say ohhhhh we didnt hear you calling guess!! So Im just going to find another location, even if its a longer drive!! Ive never had these issues at ANY OTHER CRACKER BARREL!!
Ive been here a few different times, even before the pandemic, and each time service took forever. This time, the table beside us was seated after us and left before us, long before us. They had finished their food before we got ours. I understand if theyre short on staff that things take more time, that just didnt appear to be the case. Maybe they forgot/lost our order and just didnt say. Anyway, not a big fan.
Our server was very attentive and brought out drink refills before we even needed to ask for them. I love the food and atmosphere though I was a little chilly. Wish I could eat all of my meals here.
Not a place for a family to go for dinner. If you have more than two people you will wait for ever. They told us 40 minutes but after a hour and 40 minutes and talking to the manager they finally got us seated. They seated well over 30 people as we waited.
With much regret, our experience at one of our favorite restaurants was horrendous. The service was less than desirable and food was cold. I’m not sure why context clues weren’t used, but the butter on the pancakes was not melting, that’s a clear indication that something is not right. My daughter’s egg scramble was Luke warm, we had to ask 6 times for some honey before we got it, and the tea cups were dirty. We had to ask someone to clean the chairs that were simply filthy, and wait for the booster seat and high chair that we requested when we checked in upon arrival. When I mentioned to the server that my eggs were cold and had shells in them, he stated, “…if I made them, they would have been perfect,” instead of offering a solution. I told him I didn’t want the eggs, his response was that they are still a part of the meal. Again, not a solution to the problem. It was a very disappointing experience that makes me rethink returning to this location. One final note, I understand that they may have been short staffed, countless companies are experiencing the same set back, but they are willing to learn how to adapt to overcome. I hope things get better.
1st time eating at the St Charles location, I ordered the Grandmas Sampler to go online. It was missing the ham and the sausage was extremely burnt. Guess its safe to say check your food before you leave or eat there. That way youll know your getting what you paid for!!
Nice, quiet place to get rest and peace. Stayed for 5 nights. Bar and restaurant staff were awesome.
Update as of July 23,2021: Since mid June been stopping by with family so my Mom could have their catfish. Each weekend, stopped by, starting from 3 pm to as late as 6 pm. No catfish. My birthday today, so tried again, but called 1st. Servers, nor people answering phones have no idea if or when they will have catfish. Yet nothing noted on menus stating that currently catfish is just simply not a food item available due to a shortage or reason out of their control. And tell this to staff so can explain to those coming in to Cracker Barrel to eat or calling in. So 1 star lost for no catfish. 2nd star lost for staff not having an explanation. Staff should ALWAYS know reason an item on menu not available.Update as of March 16, 2021: Food is absolutely delicious! Very clean and service wonderful. Thank you Cheryl for making my visit so enjoyable!! The restaurant is adhering to all the Covid-19 mandates. In other words, the pandemic hasnt made a change to the good food and service. Definitely worth the time and money!!Food wise, definitely 5 stars. Delicious, nice quantity without loss of quality and prices are in medium range. The servers and hostesses are very friendly, dont hover but there if you need a drink filled. Unfortunately, their "store" is no longer the old fashion country they use to sell. Instead the clothes are over priced and definitely 90% are fashion donts. Jewelry is either over sized or extremely tiny. None in between, but all pricey. The Nic-Nacs are cute, but seem to all follow one or two themes and again way over priced. Example: a 2" tall 3"wide glass owl on a tree limb was $24.99.Overall: Go for the food and stay away from their so called store unless buying candy.
Southern fried chicken and fried were the best! Worth much far beyond the price. The store decoration and the staff are super nice, they sell lots of stuff besides food over there too. Country music here playing here is enjoyable. Overally, it was a great dinner at Cracker Barrel in a cold evening
Always great food. The older man that was our waiter seemed...old man cranky...not rude. Not mean. Just like hes been doing that job for way to long. No complaints tho. Southern chicken meal was really good. The Turkey meal really brought back memories of Thanksgiving.
