3160 Green Mt Crossing Dr, Shiloh, IL 62269, United States, O'Fallon
Homey chain restaurant serving American comfort food, with an on-site general store.
Im sorry, to say this but the food wasnt good at all. Usually it is, when we got our food the lady said that there wasnt anymore chicken strips. So she gave us something else ,buy my sons fries was cold. My food aas as well. My fried turkey was dry. Food was cold. I understand that u guys was busy on Thanksgiving, but the food was cold and nasty,be cause we had waited so long my son really didnt want to eat..
Our hostess, Jackie, was extremely rude to us. We asked to move tables and she rolled her eyes and called us a rude name. She also sat us at a dirty table. Our server, Diana, was great! Also management sucks, they treat their workers terribly.
After waiting 45 minutes for a table we were seated. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and greens. The meatloaf tasted okay but I thought the portion was small. Mashed potatoes were good, and came with gravy. The greens tasted funny (spoiled? And had a lot of stems, I sent them back and got broccoli instead, which was fine. Bread rolls were fresh. Over all, I wasnt impressed.
This location seems to be understaffed, as service was rather slow and inconsistent. Food was good overall, and our waitress was very kind, providing us with plenty of biscuits.
Easily one of my familys favorite places. We feel its a good value for your money. The food is classic American meat and potatoes fare. The recent addition of alcoholic beverages has been a big, and good change. You dont need a full service bar, but something more than coffee, tea, n soda. And they dont appear to smother the food in MSG. I could be mistaken, but I dont think I am. The staff tries hard to ensure you are satisfied with everything. Chicken pot pie is great when they have them available. The sampler platter is a faithful comforter.
Mr. Mark took excellent care of everything. I was very pleased with my whole experience. Couldnt have asked for better service or good.
Usually they are fantastic but this last time they struggled in the kitchen. :( The server had to apologize over and over. I felt bad for her. My husband ordered ham on the side of his breakfast. He has an iron stomach and eats pretty much anything... this time he took one bite of the ham and spit it out! He said it was spoiled/rancid. Also they didnt give us one of the sides we ordered. I ordered a cream cheese crepe with strawberry glaze & strawberries on top. They were out of strawberries. But it was delicious even without them. :)Oh and the burger that my mom ordered well done... came out way WAY undercooked, like the pink that it starts out as. Eww!Again the server was awesome, sent moms burger back but unfortunately it didnt come back out till we were all done. So she compd our drinks and gave us each apple pies to take home. ❤️ We left her a good tip and reassured her that we knew it wasnt her fault. Its not even the typical meal experience for us there. So Im sure well go back. My guess is they were short staffed back there or training new people.Although Im not sure how the spoiled ham escaped someones quality check and made it out of the kitchen....
Yesterday I ordered 2 cod fish lunches! With one dish I ordered 2 dumplings! I ended up with 1 piece of cat fish ! It tasted fishy and horrible! The dumplings were one big mess of dough stuck together! No juice or flavor!
Me and my husband came in after a long drive. We got seated immediately. Our server Aubrey had a bright personality and great service. Can’t forget the beautiful hair too! The food was great, the best Cracker Barrel we have had since pre-pandemic. My husband and I both got the Cracker Barrel sampler. A huge portion for a great price, we could have shared! We will definitely be back to this location!
I have been to better Cracker Barrell restaurants over my many years but I understand the strain COVID has put on every person and business. Waitress was exceptional and allowances made. Im sure well return again soon.
Most times when we go to this Cracker Barrel, the service is impeccable and the food is delicious. This certain occasion however was different. Rolled in at about 7:15-ish, and took over 30 minutes for our party of 3 to be seated. Took about 5 minutes after that to get our waiter to the table. Waiter was very thorough in taking our order. After about 15 minutes, we were notified that they were out of biscuits and would not give us a refund for them. Apparently they were free, but it is still improper for the manager and/or chef to act like that’s a good way to do business. If we expect something to be included in our order when we order it, it should be there when it arrives. My dad’s pot roast has little meat in it (most likely due to the kitchen staff running outso it wasn’t worth the 12 dollars he paid for it. Bottom line- don’t bother coming here for dinner.
Tonight the kitchen ran out of two of what we had ordered and they waited over 30 minutes to tell or waitress. What food we did get was good. But the kitchen service was terrible. Lack of communication tonight.
At first, we were seated but not approached or asked about drinks for 5-8 minutes. But then MARK (a waiterasked us if we got helped and we asked if he would be our server and he did it gladly! He was very friendly and upbeat! Mark showed us all the options for what we could try with our biscuits. He gave us 2 drinks each right away. Best service we’ve had in a VERY long time! Thanks Mark!
Had an amazing and unique experience coming to this cracker barrel. It was my first time going to a cracker barrel and im very impressed with the staff. We were seated immediately and were waited by Mark. The waiter was very friendly and we had a great conversation with him. It was the most personal experience Ive ever had at a restaurant and couldnt be happier!
Server was pleasant and friendly. Wait time for drinks and food was within 15 minutes. Got a good size portion of food. Will go back if in this area again.
Food was delicious and Mark was a fantastic server. You can tell he really loves his job. Well definitely be back!
This is second time we’ve came here and will be last! First time we got burnt chicken! Waiter was more worried about going home after shift. Slow service both times! Gummy biscuits! Bathroom door didn’t shut on handicap stall no lock on next door! Dirty! When I looked around in restaurant it was dirty! I don’t like it we both ordered biscuits and gravy but always get one small bowl two biscuits between us! Gravy is always cold! We gave it a second chance but no more!!
Brought my friend for his birthday. Our waiter Mark was THE BEST waiter that Ive ever had in my life! He thrives on giving great service! He even bought a gift for the both of us with his own money! He totally impressed us both! I recommend this place to everyone!
We were seated right away but our food took 35 minutes to get. I ordered the fried chicken which they sent out the wrong kind which was burnt. The carrots were the only thing that I ate. My mom had French Toast which a couple of the slices were burnt as well and her bacon was overdone. We sent the food back. We had wasted so much time we had to leave for an appointment. They did send out the correct chicken for me to take home and did not charge us for the food. As we were leaving I noticed the floors were filthy. Its really a shame, when we entered we looked around the store and I was prepared to make some purchases. It will be a very long time before I go to Cracker Barrel again and if I do it will not be at this location.
Server was good, but took over an hour to get our food. They claimed they were behind in the kitchen, but they werent very busy. Food came out and didnt taste fresh, tasted like it had been under a heat lamp. If they were behind in the kitchen, it should have been communicated to the hostess and told to the customers as they came in.
Got dinner for 3 and desserts. Total 47.07. Also purchased clothing for $108.32. The dinner was great bit the peach cobbler was disappointing. This was just spiced peaches with no crust at all. Usually comes with some top crust. Could have bought their canned ones in store and saved some money. Cobbler was $4.09 each.
Dee was our waiter and he was Amazing! Food was Great!
I normally give grace in these situations because I know working in the industry is hard. But the service was awful, I will not dog our server but quite a few things were done that sets in stone we will not be returning. I understand gossiping about customers, I am very guilty of doing it also, but not about how they eat and where they can see you do it amongst your coworkers. Cashing out was a MESS. One person dealing with a return while the other poor girl was working as fast as she could. Many tables around ours had issues as well, one sitting for 20 minutes before getting acknowledged (there was only 4 tables seated in that part with 3 servers…and the table behind us getting their food after us when they were there before us. It is evident there is a lack of organization…but a lack of respect for patrons is BIG.
Been several times. Love the chicken fried chicken! I get it with mashed potatoes &white gravy, baby carrots, and fried apples. Nice all around meal. Server was sweet as can be! Always a great time!
Very very slow service took the waitress for ever to take our order ,took another 25 minutes for our drinks and the food took a long time , by the time we got our food we had to ask for to go boxes and drinks to go because our bus tour group was getting ready to leave so we ended up eating our food on the bus. And we informed the waitress we were with a bus tour group also.
My food was good but I was more upset about how long my Doordash driver had to wait to get my order. I ordered around 6:30 p.m. and they were waiting for an hour. I got my food around 8:30ish. Make sure you warn about backup at the restaurant plz.
We are here last night. Here is our review.Speed: considering restaurant was less than half full. The food coming out was slow. Wish we had gotten biscuits and cornbread before as we were hungry.Service: our server Ben was great. He was friendly and helpful.Food: was great we all loved our food.Experience: been a while since I have eaten Cracker Barrel and I have missed it.
We got seated right away, and got our order taken within 10 minutes of being here. Mark did an excellent job and was very quick and polite.Food was great.
This was the best Cracker Barrel we have been to. Everything seemed to be a notch above the others. Our waiter, Mark, just made the whole experience special for us and the kids, which was so nice after a long day of driving across the country. Would highly recommend!
We were a group of 10. But onlyb3 other tables sat when we got there at 730am. 815 they took our order and refilled coffee. 9. My boss had to leave because he had a meeting to get to. Food came out at 910. At 10 we had to ask for checks and refills of drinks.Last 3 times I have been to any Cracker Barrell (Oregon, Illinois and IndianaI have been very disappointed in the food. Definitely not the standard I was used to 5 yrs ago. Will still shop there but doubt it will be my choice to eat there.
I have been coming here for over a decade. I have noticed it has really gone down hill of recent. The servers are good. But the kitchen is serving food that is terrible. I ordered the chop/hamburger steak well. They cooked it until it was a burnt dried out hockey puck. I wish I had taken a picture. I asked for a new one and it took forever and that I was wrong for asking. The manager did not care I saw my server speaking to him about it. This is a shame I used to eat here all the time. This is just one of the bad experiences I had here of recent. There are some good workers here but the kitchen needs to be retrained and the manage need to be checking on such things.
I called to let them know 3 hours in advance we would be coming with a large party of 18 people. I know large parties can be a pain, but our experience here was terrible. Our group was not sat together, half of the group was sitting at 2 separate tables too far from the others to even have conversation with them. Half of our party had a great waitress, she brought out bread and their drinks right away. The other half, had a terrible waitress. She never brought us bread, took over 15 minutes to bring our drinks out. We waited over 40 minutes for our food while the other half of our party was already finished with theirs and ready to leave. And when our food was brought out things were still wrong or missing entirely. There were things we had to ask for multiple times, and our waitress would just disappear and come back 10 minutes later without what we asked for. When the checks finally came, ours was wrong. My fiance pointed out what was wrong and the waitress snapped back at him saying "she knew what we ordered" only to come back with a receipt that still wasnt correct. I work at a restaurant so I know large parties can slow things down, but they were not even busy when we were there. Never going back to this cracker barrel.
I was attempting to use the website to order a curbside order but unfortunately I had a gift card. Their system doesn’t support gift cards online. I called the store and spoke with the manager and told him I cannot come in due to having an autistic child but wanted to place the order with a gift card. The manager was so sweet and accommodating. He took my order and told me to call as soon as I got there. Once I arrived, I called and spoke to Bonnie. She brought our dinner out to us and took my gift card as payment. She was so so so sweet! This was the nicest service I have received in a long time. And dinner was delicious! Thank you to Bonnie and the awesome manager!
I like Cracker Barrel. If I had on complaint, and it a small one. The hash browns are mushy. Enough so neither me or my wife would eat them. All else was good. So if you like extremely mushy hash browns, this is your place. Enjoy.
I have been a life-long visitor to many Cracker Barrels, and the server staff here are the best I have ever experienced. My server, Mark, had a phenomenal attitude and was thoughtful and attentive. If you are looking for some great food and even better company, drop in and and meet Mark. You will not be disappointed!
When I lived in a place without a Cracker Barrel, coming here was a novelty. Now, I live somewhere where you cant swing a dead cat without hitting one. The bloom is of this particular rose. The food is also not as good as I recall. The last few times, there was nothing special about the food. The corn muffins were so-so, and the beans overcooked and bland. I had their new squash casserole as a side one time, and Im sure there was squash in it, hidden under all the cheese and bread crumbs. There are plenty of other places to eat, especially if you want heavy, fattening, southern inspired food. The only reason I go is because others want to go.
Service and food selection was good. The gift shop has so many available items and always seem to have a decent amount of discounted/sale item sections available. However sad to see that yet another business has limited staff on hand.
Drive 5 more miles west and go to the next Cracker Barrel! This was the most awful experience Ive ever had at any Cracker Barrel. Upon arrival it took 10 minutes just for our waitress to come to the table. Then we waited over an hour for our food in a mostly empty restaurant and Im fairly certain its because our waitress did not put in our order until 30 minutes after we ordered it. She came to the table to get a substitute for the mac and cheese 30 minutes after we ordered. Then we waited another 30 minutes for the food to come out. Other people around us that came in well after us all got their food way before us. It was not a staff shortage because they had different waiters. We were about to just get up and leave. There was no apology or offer of dessert or anything. Just a horrible experience and Ill make sure never to stop here again!
Normally the food is great there and I love the store. But last night the steak look like a stick it was disgusting. I got pot roast there was so much fat on it it was ridiculous my baked potato came out after I was done eating they said it wasn’t cooking and then she said it took forever to heat it up in the microwave. I ordered sweet tea and when she refilled my cup it was not sweet tea. Probably won’t go back for a while get it together Cracker Barrel get it together train your waitress is better.
We waited a long time to be seated and get our food. We never got our rolls. But the food is good.
Dee is a rockstar and a great server. Food was better than its been in a long time and no one yelled at me for a mask.
OMG the biscuits and gravy were to die for. We have been wanting to eat while on the road. But there always so packed now I know why. Great food and service. Thank you
Good atmosphere. Very friendly staff and good service. Went to lunch, only issue is they lost track of our reservation so we waited a really long time to be seated for our party of 6. The rocking chairs out front on the ‘porch’ are so wonderful to have while waiting for your table. Store is chock full of random items to buy. Ordered the Country fried steak (deliciouswith hash brown casserole (just okayand carrots (good, they were out of broccoliand the most amazing homemade biscuits! Seriously those are good! Rest of my group ordered assorted ‘served all day’ breakfast menu items and a strawberry mimosa and were pleased with their meals. Minus the wait, an overall good experience. Good prices as well. No masks required for vaccinated.
They have the neatest stuff in their store. So many neat candies and sodas from when I was a kid. Neat gift ideas, and just overall great atmosphere
The store atmosphere was wonderful like the Cracker Barrels typically are. The waitress Chloe did an excellent job and was being shadowed by a trainee. I ordered the Turkey Dinner which is their Thursday special. I really wanted the sweet potato casserole. That part of the meal was no longer available, and substituted with a hash brown casserole. That would have been nice to know when I placed my order. The gift shop was nice. I forgot to purchase my post cards to send.
Popular place. One of our favorite places for breakfast. Unfortunately, they dont make their famous lemon fish or cornbread anymore. Also, the website is not user friendly, you cant order food you have to call their catering line.
I always like Cracker Barrels because of the comfortable atmosphere and shop. I do think their food could be a bit hotter, the one in Shiloh, IL always seems to be just under hot. It is clean though and they always have lots of unique items in the gift shop.
Our server Akeem was incredible. Very polite and attentive with a great personality! Our food was delicious and portion size was perfect. We will definitely be back!!!!!
Arrived at 0830(8:30amand was able to get a table immediately. Service is horrible and the food was not the best. I have been to this location many times in the past and usually its not this bad.The service was slow, they were not busy at all. After sitting down it took 5 minutes for our server to show up and take our drink order, 2 waters and a cup of coffee. It took another 5 minutes to get o to r drinks. She dropped the drinks off and left without taking our food order. We waited another five minutes for her to come back. When she finally came back we ordered. We had to wait AT LEAST 25 minutes to get our food. All we ordered were 2 breakfast plates, which consisted of eggs, bacon sausage, apples, bisquits and hashbrown casserole. The server never refilled our drinks after getting our food. The food was not the best. It is bland and when it arrived it was barely warm, like it was made really early and left sitting on a table. It should not have taken 25 minutes to get that small amount of food. They were not busy. I saw a few employees standing in the kitchen doorway chatting and laughing instead of working.I will not be back to this location ever again. It has been going down hill for a while now.
There is a wide selection of food to choose from. Its a little noisy But worth it. Our waitress was very friendly And attentive to our needs. And most of all I love the attached country store they have my lot to choose from .
