Crab Shack Caribba Cheat Lake in Morgantown

They were very accommodating when where we were sitting got too much sun. The food was wonderful and they did not complain when I pulled out a paw paw fruit for my follow diners to try for the 1st time. I was in Morgantown that day for a Paw Paw event at the Core Arboretum.

Salmon was delicious, very good scalloped potatoes and sweet corn sides. Jerk chicken had good spice. Holly provided great service. View was lovely and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

The only thing more excellent than the food is the staff. Props to our server, Kendra and Mr. BigMClarge Arms, a.k.a. Dave. My grandmother if 75 has trouble getting up and down from a seated position so Dave helped move her while she remained seated when a thunderstorm broke out. He moved her like a princess. Kendra had patience with our large crowd and demand for beer. Love the shrimp, beer is ice cold, pet friendly, muscles (edible ones...not referring to Dave), crabby dip, and raw tuna dish are my favorite!!

The waitress was nice, they were out of a lot of things, no dr pepper, no roti, no salmon. Ordered the moko pork asked about the salsa because I have an allergy to pineapple was told it was mango, nope it was pineapple. Couldnt finish my meal due to my reaction. Waitress discounted the meal, but probably wont go back.

Loved it. Great food and an amazing view of Cheat lake. My husband comes here often but this was my first time. If you come to Cheat lake it is a must to stop at the Crab Shack. I got the shrimp boil and my husband got the monster boil. They were amazing. Staff was super friendly. Our server Holly was on point. Fast and super nice. She made sure our experience was memorable. Go check it out you wont be disappointed.

Atmosphere and music outdoors, along with the food make this place great.

Only had drinks and appetizers here so far, but I will definitely be returning! The crab dip is amazing and the drinks were delicious as well. Very nice outdoor seating area for a nice summer evening by the docks, and the service was great as well.

I had the oysters on the half shell and the curry baked beans. So delicious and great service! It was a nice day on the water. Prices are a little high in some things, but thats to be expected with the location in my opinion. Still totally fair. My husband had the brisket salad and it was incredible and a great portion.!

Picture perfect views plus really good food. Chill environment on the water, good service. I definitely recommend the brisket. I got the salad with the brisket and it was real tasty, especially since the salad had their old bay fries on it.

Food was B-. My brisket was dry. Service was good. Did not like being charged $2 for additional pita pieces to finish the $20 appetizers. Would not rush back.

Food is good but don’t bother staying long unless you know someone!!!!! Got dinner and planned to stay for the band ( still spending moneybut were told we needed to leave to make room for someone else!!!!! I have NEVER EVER been treated that rude especially after spending over 100.00 already at that point!!!!!! We will never be back!!!!!

The atmosphere is awesome. I had some stellar drinks and tried the seafood fritters. I have also ordered the hot mess multiple times. The king crab is high quality!

We use to eat here every weekend in the summer since they opened. But starting this year they made significant menu changes (smoked meats & brisket), raised all the prices, & the service has gone down hill.

Parking is very inconvenient if you have a mid to full-size truck. Hostess was polite and attentive. Waiter, not so much, waited quite a while for drinks to arrive and had to pull him back to the table to order an appitizer. We ordered crab dip, no bad! Even after having our appitizer delivered we had to flag him down to order dinner. I got a lobster roll. There was a couple good size pieces of lobster meat on it, but very little else. I personally was incredibly underwhelmed, the meat (what meat there waswas served on a hotdog buns with arugula, with a side of fry pieces. For twenty something bucks...nah, there wont be a next time.

Worst atmosphere ever. The food was really good, but the bartender and another employee (manager as I heard her say that she was the manager and didnt care about being loudat the bar were really loud and obnoxious this continued for approximately 20 or 30 minutes. Thought is was very inappropriate behavior for them to be acting the way they were. It was hard to hold a conversation with the people at our table. Our waitress Morgan was really great though!!!

Fish sandwich was good. The fries I got with them looked and tasted like they were the short leftovers at the end of the night, and refried. Certainly will not get fresh cut fries there again.

Cant beat summertime eats, drinks, and live music at the crab shack! They always have great bands on the big holiday weekends

Food was great, service descent. Made a reservation for our anniversary, wanted a table outside. Wife wasnt asked, but she wanted obe downstairs. Didnt get it and couldnt be moved. Not completely their fault the girl taking reservation didnt appear to be much into it. Lots of attitude and indifference. Had the right person answered the phone, probably would have worked out the way the wife wanted.

Fantastic spot to stop at when visiting Cheat Lake. The food was great. We enjoyed the crabby crab dip which comes with toasted pita and hush puppies for starters. My wife and I split the shimp po boy and crab cake sandwiches. All sandwiches come with crab fries. Our only recommendation is to ask them to lightly season the fries.

Location is great, definately have a meal outside with a great view!

Went for 4th of July and it was great! The place was packed but the bartenders and servers were never overwhelmed and were very courteous. The food was amazing, especially the crabby crab dip. 10/10 would recommend to everyone. Will definitely be going back!

Love it here. Super delicious seafood. Great service. We were seated on the deck overlooking Cheat Lake while a band played down by the dock! Lovely experience and a lovely waitress, Julie!

Food was absolutely top notch, delicious and all other euphemisms for yum! Miss Julia handled our rowdy party of 8 with class! Menu is LARGE and even your landlubbers will find plenty of options! Go. Eat. Enjoy.

We were there on a Monday and they do have great drink specials on Monday.... 5 dollar drinks including pina coladas and margs... Food is ok but there are pretty much no vegetarian options. They did give free dessert for our anniversary. Staff was nice but services a little slow.

Hostess (Arrongreeted us & was nice, outside dinning area has quite the view. Our server (Meganwas promt & informative = great service. As for the food... picture shows it all. FYI Mondays special is AYCE Shimp!, I tried the 3 Megan suggested, & all were fantastic!!!

Our first time eating here and the service was top notch. The atmosphere and food were amazing. All the servers had a smile on their face especially ours, Kaylee and shes one of the reasons why well be eating here again very soon.

Some of my tables food was good. Some of my party had cold food and for the price that shouldnt have happened. The service wasnt the greatest thats for sure. The manager gave a little discount but thats not what our family was looking for. We just wanted them to be aware of the situation.

First time hereMenu, location and setting is greatWe got a shrimp po boy and Mas Fish sandwich,,,,, i was starvin, under the grease soaked layer of breading was delicious seansoned cod, under the batter grease dipped shrimp the shrimp was choking from the fat, the french fries were like play doe in grease, hush puppies lol hush your mouth they were greasy too. ..... i asked for the manager why so greasy,,, she said thats the way it is cause they were busy ... lol there is 5 tables .... I told her greasy food comes from dirty fryer that the grease needs changed ... the setting and price of the food here stands for a clean fryer no matter who your serving or what day of the week ... or maybe they should have a menu board that says todays special greasy basket ...Then she took $ 2.00 off the bill what an insult .... what was that $2.00 for the soap and paper towles we used to bath with after we ate 15% of our greasy foodSorry Crab Shack you table side manner and her excuses dont make any means to 100% dissatisfied customer..She said they are too busy to change the fryer ....maybe the owner should read this, We travel the world .... this meal hits the Burger King Scale of yuck .... we are not complaining we are warning youP.S. we were going to throw the remainder of our $30.00 grease basket to the fish but decided we dont want to hurt them so we threw it in garbage can

SAD..☹ Was all excited to find a new good seafood place and What a let down. It was And im not kidding , so soaked in grease . I am a person that eats Everything but I passed on my food it was soaked and tasted like a fryer . Very disappointing.From what I ate, I got sick , Sorry people but it will clean you out in less then an hour!My (one piece )of lettuce on the sandwich look at it wilted and covered in greaseThis is NOT GOOD pics dont lie

Crab dip and fried pita bread was great. If you want to sit outside make reservations. Nice spot.

This is my spot during the summer! We love eating here on Friday and Saturday nights on the lake! The live music and atmosphere out on the deck is fantastic. AND, the food is great too. Highly recommend!

Great seafood & a great nightlife. The crowd is in their 30s and young professionals. Seems to be the place for Morgantown’s locals & professionals to hang after work and weekends. The owner seemed to know everyone - he greeted us and others It has a good vibe.

Ive eaten at both locations (Suncrest & Cheat Lake), and for what you could spend at an Olive Garden, Red Lobster, or other chain restaurant you instead get top quality food prepared perfectly. I seldom deviate on my favorite dishes, and youd think that at some point someone might screw it up. Well, at Crab Shack, they dont. Excellent food, friendly service, and a great place to eat. I take as many of my friends there as possible.

So glad to have finally tried this restaurant! Food and ambiance were excellent. Took a long time to receive our check, however, and prices were a bit high. Still, it was a good experience and we plan to return.

Great place for inland seafood steamers. Try the Hot Mess sauce in one of their popular shellfish combos or customize your own pot. Very friendly service and nice lakefront view. All around recommended!

Wait was 1 1/2 hrs with empty tables everywhere. Food came out with half of everyones meals burnt, cold, very small portions and rice was hard and ice cold. Server was never seen after she served food. Horrible service.Were from out of town and brought our relatives here for having us in for the weekend. Very bad experience all the way around. We will never be back or our relatives that live in the area. Would never recommend.

I have enjoyed this placein the past but was seriously disappointed by the service during my recent visit. No salt on the table, no jelly for toast served at brunch, terrible tea selection, no water offered and generally slow staff. The manager stopped by by Gwen sedans and to our pleasure at which point we registered our disappointment and she responded that significant training was underway and that shortcomings we experienced would most definitely be remedied

Excellent food, great service and beach like atmosphere. Both times we have been there, the live music was excellent and it was a nice casual boat dock dress atmosphere. The multiple decks give q great view of the river and sunset. Highly recommend the Shrimp Fry as appetizer! We will be going back frequently!

Ive been three times since it opened and each time has been a delightful experience. The food is good and the beer is served in huge mason jars - I like that touch. Sweeping views of the lake!

Worst seafood meal I have ever had. Had a check over 150 for three people and left hungry . Contacted through Facebook tell them about my horrible experience and they said they would make it right. Its been two weeks since I have been there and still nothing from them. They dont care about their customers. Save the money for to long John silvers it is probably better quality then we experienced. Do not eat here.

Horrible dining experience. Great lakeside view but that was all the place had to offer. We ordered soup and a sandwich for lunch. After an hour we were told our food should be out soon. Thirty minutes later we got cold soup and a cold crab cake sandwich. The food may have been good hot. But we will never know. I will never be back.

Pretty expensive but absolutely delicious and worth the price. Feels like vacation. Great place to hear live music outside

We expected a great experience because of my parents rave review. We were given a 45 minute wait time for inside and a 75 minute wait time for outside. To our pleasant surprise, we were seated indoors in ten minutes. The crab dip appetizer was phenomenal, but the rest was just a let down. I paid $9 for a Mojito that was definitely made with a store bought mix. It was garnished with mint but none floating and no fresh lime juice. Definitely overpriced for not even the real thing! The food was okay. Nothing had much flavor. My parents mentioned that they got hot towels to clean up with after eating crab buckets, but we got no such thing. For the price, the food isnt going to wow you, and the Saturday night atmosphere isnt enough to make up for it. 🙁

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My sever Emily was awful, she was completely rude no mater the request even if it was just for an extra plate. The only time she was polite was when she gave us the check other then that she ignored us and was just rude. The food was okay, nothing like she described it would be. Will never eat there again.

Great location and a fabulous atmosphere for an evening beside the lake. Although the place was busy and the wait was long, the food was incredible. Go take your other half out tonight to a spectacular lakeside seafood restaurant !
