Coyote Pause Cafe - South Western restaurant (US) in Tucson, United States
Really enjoy this little restaurant. A hidden ๐ close to home. People working are friendly and theres second hand store shops right behind. The food is delicious.
Delicious and hearty food in colorful SW setting. Staff is super nice. Place is spotless.
I liked this place, great breakfast, good coffee, friendly servers.
Very welcoming and friendly service. Great place to take out of town guests. Cute southwestern atmosphere and good food.
Very overpriced for okay quality.$2.50 for a little cheese on my eggs...Waited a long time for food and they brought the wrong order the first time.2 egg whites with cheese, home fries, a slice of toast and a cup of coffee should not cost you $18
Remember those frozen patty burgers from the school cafeteria? There were no grill marks on the burger and it was โwetโ. I was so hungry I had to eat it. This place sucks at food.
Great place! Service was great..sweet,friendly servers..food was even better! Treat yourself and stop by!
First time here after reading so many raves and great reviews. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. Waitress was not friendly at all and made us feel rushed the whole visit, even though it was overly busy. Food was only ok...not the wonderful food I had read about and was so looking forward to. Small portions and too expensive for what we got. Not sure we will try it again.
I am the President of a local motorcycle riding club in Tucson. Our group along with others I know have been supporting this local business for years.Due to recent experiences and the rude way my riders were treated by whom they believed to be the owner. I contacted Coyote Pause and talked with the manager (Chriswho was professional and polite. Chris stated that per the owner they will no longer accommodate large groups (15 or more). The large groups cause longer wait times for their small groups and regulars. I explained to the manager that I would pass this info on to all of the local clubs and groups I know so that we will not be an inconvenience to there way of buisness. We will definitely miss this place because of the location, friendly wait staff, and food.Just to clarify, we always made reservations and normally made a courtesy call with the exact number the morning of. Our group like most leave really good tips and do not get upset or complain about wait times.I would like to pass on that on my first phone call I had a conversation with one of the waitresses that has waited on us and she is devastated with the whole thing. She told me that she has always enjoyed waiting on us and will miss the groups. As for the owner of the business, you of all people should be respectful to all customers, and I believe you could have handled this in a better way. Like I explained to your manager, I will definitely pass the word out, and we will find another place that wants our business.
Went there again since I was back in town for a couple days. Chris and his people were wonderful and the food was excellent once again. Thanks Chris Pooler and staff.
I love breakfast 24/7 and this was my go to place but recently they lost something in there food making...ambience is still great. Biscuits and gravy is not good, omelettes are mediocre. Maybe they got a new cook in the kitchen. They were great at one time??? Dont know what happened. Maybe in a couple of months Ill try them again.
Coyote Pause has been a great cafe for breakfast and lunch in the past. The latest experience was awful. One hour wait for order and poor service. The quality of the food and service was very disappointing. I will not recommend to anyone.
Have enjoyed this Cafe in past. Disappointed this visit. Fish tacos had a burnt flavor and almost no cream sauce. Burrito was fine, as usual.
Ladies luncheon here. Great service and food. We had a large group and they took good care of us.
Used to be good, but last few times only so-so (meh food and bad coffee). Yesterday food undercooked and I was told it was because the the griddle wasnt heating properly. So I spent (before tipover $18 for 2 egg breakfast (eggs, toast, potato, baconand coffee. Mediocre diner quality at resort price. I no longer recommend my previously favorite breakfast place.
Must try the Mesquite Pancakes.... Includes flour from the ground seeds of the tree. Highly flavorful and super nutritious. Ask for the real maple syrup too. Super friendly staff. They make a good calabacitas side order. Worth the drive out on Ajo. And its in the Cat Mountain plaza with shops... vintage, art, collectibles and furniture, etc. There is a Gem shop across the streets. There are a couple of BnB nearby and an observatory. Makes a nice area for a weekend getaway, near Saguaro National Forest too.
Good food, great service, and location location location is perfect!
Drove all the way from Dallas to try the Mesquite Pan Cakes and dang they were very good. I will be making another trip in the future for this place. Its a must eat at place to go.
It is a great hidden gem! Love it... good food, good service. Well be back!
Beautiful clean interior, bright cheerful decor. Friendly wait staff and it was busy. Delicious huevos rancheros and breakfast burrito
Waited well two regulars came in after me and got seated 1st.Finally got seated the girl told me your server will be over shortly.More than 5 minutes uses later she came back and was my server.Service sucked the food was ok
The service for a bicyclist in need of food and water was fantastic.Jalapeรฑo bacon was really tastyMesquite pancake was worth going back forSausage gravy was weird. Not much seasoning or sausage. Also, tasted a bit like they used premix biscuit flour, rather than flour in the gravy.Outside seating seemed out of season. Id encourage they use their plates, not plastic containers, for people who are going to eat just steps outside the back.
This place is great, delicious huevos rancheros And the mesquite pancake was super unique and surprisingly tasty. All around good vibes, except that some of the other customers were very annoying. I feel bad for the waitstaff.
Huge portions, French toast pictured! Varied menu, fresh cooked, great atmosphere
Drove @ 40 miles from Catalina based on good reviews and advertising. Passed about 6 Dennys on the way that serve a better breakfast faster. The wait for ordered food took longer than the drive and was just OK. What was not were the eggs ordered โupโ coming out over hard boiled, nothing close to running yokes in there and no hash browns as ordered Wait staff offered to replace eggs but how much time do I have left at 73? Coffee and toast were good and a beautiful drive.
Ive spent the last 20yrs traveling all over the country. And this is hands down the worst biscuits and gravy of all time. Biscuits tasted raw and the thin gravy tasted like spoiled sausage. I found eating the eggs to be to much of a task to finish.
The hamburger s were wonderful my family said. I ordered the prime rib sandwich. I did not complain but I did not like the way it taste. So I had 2 bites. It was a waste of money. The waitress is very good. The place is so cute. I have eaten there before and really enjoyed breakfast there that time. It cost about 60 dollars for party of 3 soft drinks no alcohol.
A great cafe to stop for brunch if visiting the Desert Museum or Saguaro national park. Cute southwestern decor. Food is great. I had the breakfast burrito, my dining companions had a burger, the corned beef hash and French toast. Love the southwestern touches to the entrees. Gotta have the prickly pear lemonade and prickly pear jelly on the toast! The wait staff were friendly and very accommodating. Oh, and I love that they use paper based to go boxes instead of Styrofoam and the to go bag is a reusable bag and not plastic!
Staff is friendly, if not horribly disorganized. Kitschy decor and made-to-order food are a nice addition to the lodge, but expect a long wait most mornings. Stick to the breakfast menu, huevos rancheros with tamale pie is awesome. Their chorizo is great in omelettes. The tacos are absolutely terrible and should NEVER be ordered.
Very friendly staff. Long waits after seating to get drinks then orderThe food was average. We both had a 2 egg breakfast. I have never seen portions of hashbrowns so small. Bacon was slightly overcooked. We tried somewhere different from where we usually eat at casino del sol. Wife and I had both read the reviews, which were high, so we expected more.Again, friendly staff but poor service. Average food. The $43 price tag for this breakfast means we are unlikely to return
Probably understaffed, and the food is meh.The food was okay but not as good as I could make at home. Im not a great cook. It took forever to get seated, I had to get someones attention to have my order taken, and my order was made wrong twice. No one checked on me, so I had to take the initiative on having it remade both times.I thought going into it that it must be good because theres always a wait, but it seems like thats mostly due to it being a tourist spot where there arent a lot of options.
Its a very busy cafe so be prepared to wait a tick for brunch- wait times seemed to average 15 to 30 minutes give or take. It probably didnt help a large group arrived right before we did. The staff is very friendly, portions make you feel comfortably full and the food was delicious. I had chilaquiles, southwest rice and ordered a side of bacon which was cooked to perfection. My other had the breakfast burrito (which I also tried because I love foodwhich was tasty as well! To drink I had a prickly pear lemonade which was flavorful and good as well. Make sure to grab a duo of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies on the exit, too. Great local fare and I will be back next time were in Tucson!
Coyote Pause is a local breakfast and lunch staple that has a range of comfort foods. They have friendly staff thats been around for years, and obviously take pride in the business and giving quality service. Some of their breakfast food are "standard fare" but nothing is bad. The biscuits and gravy are the best in town.
I had the grilled veggie sandwich with prickly pear slaw. Was a smaller portion than I expected but was tasty.Service for take out was a 40 min wait which was too long.Thereโs a courtyard behind where you can eat outside.
The vegan tamales. And cowboy hash. Out of this world. Their non vegan items too! We have hit this amazing place twice in the past seven months. Two separate road trips. This place is a must stop every time were out Tucson way!
The place definitely seemed understaffed when I arrived. My server more than made up for it with her attitude and attentiveness. The 3 people working at the time were all incredibly nice and helpful. 5 stars for service. The food, however, was average at best. Frozen burger, frozen fries. Very little to set their signature lunch item apart. The breakfast other patrons were getting looked good. I would go back to give that a try.
We entered the established through the back door. Just inside the door was a sign reading "No alcoholic beverages beyond this point". We didnt pay it any attention went in and sat down.A server came over and asked if we had been served and we said we had not. We then got a short, veiled in politeness scolding about how they dont know if a table has been served or not if people seated themselves. I told this nice person that we didnt know and that wed entered from the rear.A second person came over and delivered the same speech. I apologized and said that it certainly would not happen again. And it wont.As we exited the back door I saw the other side of the sign which said something like "To be seated see the hostess at the front."One of those polite fellows who scolded us said... "have a nice day". To which I responded... "Look at your sign. Its backwards. Maybe you want to turn it around so people know what you want them to do.Nice little place. Good food. But for heavens sake wait to be seated... better yet come through the front door.
We really enjoyed the food...the Tamale Pie and the Mesquite Pancakes were great. The servers were very friendly, but the biggest drawback was how extremely slow everything was from the wait to give our order to the fact that we had to go up front to get our own checks after waiting 30 minutes. Just like everyone else, I think they are short staffed. I would still recommend trying this cute place!
Perfect and delicious with a fun and warm energy that made it a great dining experience /atmosphere even with the disruptive flies!
Good! Get the mesquite pancake with real ๐maple syrup ๐ yum its huge! You can take 1/2 home, good warmed up
Coyote Pause was high on the recommendation list of our AirBnB host. We were not disappointed! The huevos rancheros, the mesquite pancake, and avocado tacos (topped with prickly pear slawwere all wonderful.
Very kind and courteous staff, food is great too. Since we are allergic to pork, they cleaned off their griddle before cooking our food without being asked to.Tried their coyote burger, prickly pear coleslaw, and their lemon cake dessert. All very good and if highly recommend trying their food. Breakfast all day too.
My friend brought me to this adorable little place and right away I felt the personality welcome me. We were taken in to the covered patio which was an arizona room on steroids! I loved it.The daily specials were hard to choose from. My friend had the stuffed french toast which was not what we expected.I had the asparagus scramble and the pinto beans with a unique but familiar flavor.Good coffee and excellent service.
Awesome place for breakfast. Highly recommend the Huevos Rancheros.
Great find. The food a d service were exceptional. The pancakes have a unique flavor that I cant really describe but once here you must have one. Kool curio shop behind the restaurant.
The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The place was clean. The food came out hot and it was delicious. I enjoyed the artwork on the walls. Very interesting place.
Cute little cafe with sandwiches, breakfast, and salads. Just on the south edge of Saguaro National Park. Gift, art, and resale shops just outside
Very nice, quaint and authentic to the cowboy life of the south west culture of Southern Arizona, from the interior design down to the breakfast home fries. Very clean and the service is 2nd to none. I went in and asked how long it would take to get served because i had to take lunch to my son in 30 minutes to his school and i was hungry. The waitress had my pancake eggs and home fries out to me in 5 minutes! Amazing! I was beside myself. Food was great, as if my mom made it herself. I will be back with the whole family!
Cute mom and pop restaurant. Love the southwest feel. The art work is nice as well. Lots of variety on the menu. I had the Avocado tacos!! So good. The biscuits were to die for!
Its a hidden gem in Tucson. Great place to grab a bite after hiking or biking locally. Food is from scratch and the service (Jackiefantastic. Thank you for a great experience CPC.
