Cowlitz County Historical Museum in Longview
Description
Wonderful!!! Staff very knowledgeable about the exhibits.
Very nice place to visit! Don’t have to buy tickets but donations are recommended!
MoreStopped in just killing time and was impressed - small, but a lot of neat stuff.
This was a very fun and interesting weekend activity. The current exhibit is pioneer themed and there was a lot of rich, local, cultural history.
MoreWould like to rate the museum higher because the exhibits were very interesting and engaging. But my visit to the museum was pretty much ruined by a staff member/volunteer who followed us super closely from room to room like he thought we were going to steal something. It made me very uncomfortable and we left before seeing all the exhibits.
MoreThis place was fantastic, so many wonderful artifacts as well as super rare photographs. For a really neat gift idea, the greeting cards with vintage photographs are superb. Make sure to check out the Mt St Helens Survivor Car
MoreSuch neat stuff to see for such a small museum. A lot of history.
The history of this area wouldve been a great experience
Great place to learn about the early American colonists/invaders to the area. Excellent display of living in a single room cabin. Although free, please leave a donation!
Moreold man came to life, called me a slur, he did share ancient wisdom though so it was worth it
MoreI have no excuse for not visiting this museum for several decades--particularly since Ive driven by it so frequently. I visited last week with two friends and we were all delighted by the entire experience.Much of the interactive programs for children is presently unavailable due to COVID restrictions but there is plenty to see and experience. The docent is unbelievably knowledgeable and more than willing to answer any questions about the area and its rich history.More people from our area should avail themselves of this gem. After experiencing it, Im certain that you will agree that purchasing a membership in the Cowlitz County Historical Society is a benefit not only to yourself but to our community as a whole.
MoreIts a great little museum to visit. Learning about the pioneers, neighboring counties, tribes. Plenty on mount st helens, the floods, antiques.
MoreI love the many exhibits, this is a great museum, it has helped fill in some missing details of my research. Thanks for the great displays
MoreInteresting place with lots of history. Very knowledgeable and interesting gentleman at front counter.
MoreWe absolutely love the museum...
Interesting, informative, and local historical artifacts.
My brother from Alaska wanted to visit and was given an informative guided tour. Knowledgeable staff!
MoreWhile doing laundry down the street, we decided to stroll in here and check it out. They had an activity for my kid, a scavenger hunt. That was really fun. The place is interesting and gives a lot of historical knowledge. The lady working there is super cool and was helpful and fun. Her attitude is awesome. I love the old outfits, those were neat. And the Native American information. Thank you for sharing history with us.
MoreThey have a lot of history laid out in a way that keeps you interested. Staff is friendly and always helpful.
MoreThe Fardell sons presentation of their favorite photos their father, Jan Fardell, took was very good. Enjoyed visiting with Kim and Tony beforehand.
MoreFantastic place to visit, tally enjoyed the video that Jim showed. Must see.
Informative, I never knew Long View had such an interesting rich history
This is a very small historic museum. The historic items and artifacts are limited. The historical stories are well laid out.
MorePretty neat little museum, the kiddos loved the scavenger hunt
Super cute! My girls enjoyed building the house :)

Very neat little museum. Tons of information and I enjoyed it immensely.
This was a great place to go and learn more about the state of Washington, and deep rich history that I am glad was preserved for my son to see, he enjoyed it aswell and they have a little questionnaire sheet for the children to fill out to be more engaged and excited about being there, of the complete it the get a piece of candy, overall I give it a 5 out of 5 and will be going back again to look over what I missed the first time.
MoreWow..so much to do and explorePerfect for little ones to touch and see

Another donation based museum worth the visit. Fascinating Cowlitz county history.
MoreA wonderful time full of good family fun. We loved the scavenger hunt with prize and awesome displays.
MoreNeat place.lots to see in small building
LOVE this museum! Highly recommended!! Go early and allow plenty of time because even a full day isnt enough to take it all in!!! We really enjoyed the scavenger hunts and quizzes available from the volunteer at the help desk. You fill them out as you go and they help to enhance your museum experience. I believe theyre suitable for pretty much any age.
MoreAll items with good details. Fun and well displayed.
Quaint little museum with interesting displays of local history
Deffinetly gives you more than you expect, the ladies there are pretty nice and helpful. They give lots of history in this small museum, I know I learned a lot, cute gift shop, great place to buy books (not a huge selection but good for the size of the museumabout the history of Cowlitz county (books about Longview and Kelso). I did the kids scavenger hunt, and I learned lots about Long Bell, R.A. Long, The Monticello Convention, etc.Overall it would be pretty enjoyable for anyone who is into local history.
MoreThe Museum always has interesting events going on. I remember taking my child to go see science events and some of the historical events are amazing! Volunteers are kind and helpful
MoreWonderful exhibits. Knowledgeable staff.
This is a local gem. Here individuals and families can learn about both local and state history. There are some hands-on exhibits as well as traditional. There is also an area with a rotating exhibit, this is great as you never know what to expect each and every time you go. The gift shop is great with both locally made goods as well as replicas of toys of the past. They have some unique gifts that would work well as stocking stuffers.
MoreSmall but very local museum of history of region
Haven been named after my grandfather who is remembered in a national museum only to be refused status. So sorry, whats this country coming to. Other that arent even related by blood use my grandfather name Mitchell Lewis. My name Mitchell Taylor want me to go on......lets just wait and see how this plays out!
MoreA great stop for the local history lesson. Nicely set up.
Fun to visit with your kids and loved ones. Educational and informative.
Great museum. Newly remodeled as of the time of this posting. Exhibits are very well done and there is a fact scavenger hunt game you can play thats fun for both kids and adults
MoreI found my family roots there, Theres are large collection of the areas familys history.
MoreTheres a giant collection of local artifacts here, in a beautifully constructed building that feels miles away from everything despite being right smack-dab in the middle of a busy intersection. Admission is free, and the docents Ive met have all been very knowledgeable and willing to talk to you about anything inside. Theyre currently (late 2016going through a giant renovation of the exhibits inside the main part of the building, and from what I could see through the plastic sheeting, its going to be an exciting update to the existing collections. The gift shop also has a ton of locally-made goods and historical/educational stuffs, as well. Its definitely worth having a look through, and learning more about our local history!
